a lot of speculation around that we are going to 'buy' Zaha but he will stay at Palace until next summer - is this possible given our ban?

1.) 26 Jul 2019 19:27:24

2.) 26 Jul 2019 22:15:08
Don’t really see it happening. Think the club will want to wait til January to see if anyone steps up and then revisit transfers then.

3.) 26 Jul 2019 23:49:30
Its somewhere we will need to spend money on in the next twelve months. I'm sure, if he doesn't move, Zaha will be scouted but I don't see a move for him materialising.

Maybe look towards Neres as a more likely option for next summer.

14 Mar 2019 08:32:03
Eds, if our transfer ban remains, can we buy players and loan them out until our ban is over?

{Ed002's Note - No, Chelsea cannot register any new players that are not already notified on the FIFA TMS.}

1.) 15 Mar 2019 11:53:03
Could we do what (If I remember correctly) Athleti did with costa and buy someone but not register them and just have them train with the club then? Just our of interest. Also is the registering that we cannot do different from the registering for competitions then? Sorry for the stupid question Ed, just curious.

{Ed002's Note - The "registering" is notification of the transfer to FIFA via the TMS. Chelsea, if banned, cannot register new players for the duration of the ban - it is really, really simple to understand and I am surprised folks are struggling to understand this.}

2.) 15 Mar 2019 16:18:10
Ok, thanks Ed. Was just curious if we had any sort of workarounds that we could be following to be honest. Was hoping it wasn’t as simple as it sounded haha.
Cheers for clarifying.

{Ed002's Note - It is not complicated. Things may well change before the summer is out though.}

3.) 15 Mar 2019 21:08:18
The club is hoping to be able to appeal to CAS to delay the ban?

{Ed002's Note - What?}

4.) 16 Mar 2019 09:27:25
Court of Arbitration for Sport - CAS.

{Ed002's Note - I think it best you all just ignore this matter for now.}

27 Dec 2018 13:13:58
I have been mostly impressed with Rudiger this season but the difference that biting the bullet and spending big to get Koulibaly in would be immense (see Van Dijk and Liverpool's improvement) .

1.) 27 Dec 2018 18:23:07
MDW I agree with you on this, I envy Liverpool with Van Dirk. We really need a commanding presence in that backline. In as much as Luiz has been fantastic this season, he doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence as he's always going to make a telling mistake.

We need a quality center back with authority and leadership like Terry did. Koulibaly fits the bill and will make a mean defensive pair with Rudiger. The will give attackers to go all out knowing we atleast have cover behind.
May be too expensive for Chelsea considering how highly he's rated now but maybe the continuous racist abuse he's been getting in Italy could just make him want to leave for another league.

2.) 28 Dec 2018 02:56:39
Luiz is a leader but very hit and miss. I’d keep him as a back up but we still need a world class CB. We need to go all out for Koulibaly the mans insane. Chilwell for LB too.

3.) 28 Dec 2018 07:49:26
Luiz will go down as one of the better defenders that graced stamford bridge. Look no further than his trophy houl which don't lie. Media have always been on his back when he makes mistakes and more than others.

4.) 28 Dec 2018 10:55:51
Luiz was immense in Munich 2012 and many other big games. Has perhaps been more often in lesser games that he's had moments of switching off/ brain freeze, but no-one should doubt his footballing talent. But getting a really commanding cb like Van Dijk as DL successor must be one of our two or three top priorities (prolific/ confident/ strong striker obviously one of the others) . Had thought Christiansen would come through, but possibly not quite in that league (or yet)?

22 Dec 2018 17:33:01
A couple of weeks ago I posted that Sarri should go and was slated for posting it. The only reason that I don't think he should go now is the spectre of Mourinho lurking in the shadows. But I will say it again:

1. Kante is at best an average attacking midfielder but he is the best defensive midfielder in the World. To play Kante out of position to accommodate a half-arse possession theory is criminal;

2. If we are going to persist with a ball-playing deep midfielder, the perfect player for that is Fabregas who is a better passer than (and perhaps more mobile than amazingly) Jorghino - and Fabregas will give you 5 to 10 goals a season;

3. Having 75% possession and creating nothing is pointless (as we are today) ;

4. Sarri has never won a trophy and will not win anything major at Chelsea because he does not understand that possession is irrelevant without scoring goals (he may win the League Cup but who would really care! ) . Sarri and his tactics are much better suited to Italy -as soon as Mourinho is employed elsewhere, Sarri must be dismissed (along with whoever suggested him for the job) .

1.) 22 Dec 2018 20:06:01
I was at the game today and I actually thought Kante was outstanding as was Kovacic. Jorginho on the other hand was incredibly poor again, I agree with you that Kante needs to be moved back and played centrally at the expense of Jorginho. RLC needs to start from now on too.

2.) 22 Dec 2018 21:34:31
I care about winning ALL trophies.

3.) 22 Dec 2018 21:35:08
I’ll judge Sarri once he has a striker who isn’t mentally weak or slower than Mertesaker, a winger who contributes to goals and someone in midfield who can create and pop up with a goal every now and again, Willian offers nothing Pedro as I’ve said is inconsistent and today wasn’t great, kovecic just isn’t going to score this season, his up to 71 games without a goal, judging Sarri on a team that isn’t his. After not even half a season is a bit much.

4.) 22 Dec 2018 21:04:41
Rudi, Luiz, Kante and Kepa in my opinion all played well.

5.) 23 Dec 2018 00:14:35
Not going to win a lot without an out and out striker and we haven't got one simple as. Hazard one man show every week going forward.

05 Dec 2018 23:46:40
As the final whistle blows, Hazard has the ball on the left wing, Wolves have 9 players in their box, and we have 1 player in their box - Giroud marked by 8! Says everything I need to know - let me be the 1st to say it: we need to sack Sarri.

Sarri, like Conte before him, is a 1 trick pony - and his 1 tactic has been sussed already. Sarri has won nothing, not 1 trophy in football. Sarri has turned the best defensive midfielder in the World into a mediocre attacking midfielder. And he continually picks his nose!

1.) 06 Dec 2018 09:26:59
Sack a coach that is basically using another 3 to 4 coaches players?

Get a grip, seriously!

For years, all of us have been crying out for continuity with a coach/ manager and, you now want to sack a manager who hasn't had 1 full window to shape a team.

This post above has actually given me a headache!

2.) 06 Dec 2018 09:53:12
that above post is exactly why edd won't give anymore info on this page lost 2 games an people calling for d sack disgracefull.

3.) 06 Dec 2018 12:31:03
I see in the reply to my post neither of the responders have addressed the problems with Sarri. Why does he persist with Kante as an attacking midfielder? Why do we never have any other body in the box except Morata or Giroud? Why does Sarri persist with a left-back who can't defend? Why are we about to lose one of the most exciting young players to have come through the youth system because Sarri would rather stick with Willian?

Why can't or won't Sarri alter the system during play when it is obviously failing? Why do we have 70%+ possession but create so few chances? Why does Sarri remind me of Scolari? Why did we employ a manager who has won naught in his career? And, why does Sarri continually pick his nose?
If he's not good enough - get rid. He's not good enough.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 20:25:09
I responded to all these questions but it's not been posted!

5.) 08 Dec 2018 14:08:47
Even about the nose picking?

6.) 08 Dec 2018 15:21:03
Even about that. I said he'd forgotten his tissues!

{Ed0333's Note - not sure why your post wasn’t published mate apologies for that. more Pertinently I’m gonna be watching sarri pick his nose every time I watch Chelsea play. I suppose it’s a damn site more interesting than watching morata tho.

15 Nov 2019 11:25:21
England: Chilwell to Sancho to Abraham - Goooooooal. Chelsea next season?

1.) 15 Nov 2019 11:56:23
I’d prefer a left footer myself but Sancho is quality nonetheless. Maybe Neres or Ziyech or even Sane when he returns if City don’t start him. Give us a new dimension.

Take Chilwell though.

2.) 15 Nov 2019 16:47:46
Sancho isn't worth £110m and Chilwell isn't worth £75m.
We could fund part of the Chilwell fee by selling both LB I guess and promoting one of the youth.
I too would prefer us to buy a left footed attacking midfield player if one can be found who is talented and has the right work ethic.

3.) 15 Nov 2019 22:17:34
The problem with players worth this and that. although I do agree, if we go out with a cap on what we want to spend, we end up with a drinkwater or Bakyoko or Zappacosta. We don’t need squad fillers, the kids have proved there more than that. But some world class players to take us to that next level, ie like Liverpool with vvd then Allison. from almost men to winners ( IMO )

{Ed002's Note - You really ahve no grasp about the transfer strategy and what happened Matt. It is embarrassing - KA cost more than Allison}

4.) 15 Nov 2019 22:42:01
No one is suggesting we should be signing average squad players anymore but Sancho is barely worth £60/ 70m even in todays market unless of course a club with more money than sense wants him.
We already have two of the best young wide players on the books and should be trying to spend more wisely.

5.) 16 Nov 2019 09:45:39
We don't need Chilwell when we have Emerson who has been superb for us. Why spend over the odds for Chilwell, It doesn't make sense. That move will totally hinder Emerson and the eventuality is that he gets sold to another big team and one we may live to regret.

3 assists against a below average team and his world class now? Will you lot be wanting Ricardo Pereira soon given that his been on form too? Utd fans did the same when they signed Maguire and I wonder how well he has done.

6.) 16 Nov 2019 10:01:40
Ed2 you have hit the nail on the head. Most of liverpools squad is formed of players that have been coached and developed to become stars. Credit to Klopp and his staff.

kepa, morata, Pulisic, Jorginho etc have all cost a lot. However, spending money isn't always the answer and doesn't guarantee world class players. Speak to Man Utd fans to start off. With money comes pressure and a lot of scrutiny. Some posters wanted Pepe last year, however would you want him over Pulisic or CHO now?

12 Nov 2019 12:30:57
I thought we actually looked far more defensively secure with Kante replacing Jorginho - Kante and Kovacic provide far more protection to our centre-backs than Jorginho and Kovacic (soz, didn't mean to burst the pro-Jorginho bubble) .

1.) 12 Nov 2019 13:48:13
Hmmm, it’s tricky because jorginho doesn’t deserve to be dropped, but like the Azpilicueta / James situation James playing v zaha was best tactically. And kante kovecic plus a no10 who will press like mad will be important, Mount hasn’t been great last few weeks and but has an engine on him, I’d go for the same line up v palace,

2.) 12 Nov 2019 15:09:26
Kovacic and Kante is easily our strongest pivot, both good defensively and have the engine to run all game. I agree it's harsh to drop Jorginho but Kovacic has been the better player this season and you simply can't drop Kante. Sure some people would say play the 3 of them together but that doesn't work for me. It's far too defensive and not having a midfielder who can run inbetween the lines and contribute with goals or assists hurts us. 4231 with a Kante and Kovacic pivot with Mount or Pulisic at the 10 is the way to go for me. Then use 433 as well once Ruben is back fit.

3.) 12 Nov 2019 16:13:20
the trios performance against crystal palace was great, but I wouldn't get carried away as I spot some misplaced passes from kovacic, he seems too apprehensive and under pressure. jorg, kante and mount will always be my best bet. A fluid midfield, ball retention is better with jorg around.

4.) 12 Nov 2019 19:56:58
Jorginho is the main player in Lampard team sheet and rightfully so. I don't want to get into any debates but he is ahead of the trio for me. His creativity is what does it for me. Leader on the pitch.

5.) 12 Nov 2019 21:56:45
OscarAY; I disagree with your assessment of Kovacic, I think the trio (of Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic) are all good at the moment and all bring something different (that's important) to our midfield. I feel it will be quite a selection headache (for Lampard) for the game against Manchester City- we will see.

6.) 13 Nov 2019 04:08:56
One thing I did notice in Jorginho's absence was that the team had difficulty moving the ball quickly from the defense into attacking areas. Jorginho is great at finding space deep and providing a link. I think kovacic is more than capable of doing this and would improve in this capacity if called upon to do so regularly but I was very keen to discern differences in his absence and that was the biggest one for me.

7.) 13 Nov 2019 20:24:02
Agree 100 percent TK.

10 Nov 2019 15:18:06
One for the youngsters: Reece James reminds me so much of Ken Shellito - what a beast James is! Of all the young players, I think Reece James will prove to be the best.

I am loving watching this team - Gaaaaaaaan Frankie's fledglings.

1.) 10 Nov 2019 15:26:47
I said that myself that Reece will be the best he’s so complete so early. Then I think it’ll be Tomori he’s really surprised me. 1v1 he’s unbeatable.

2.) 10 Nov 2019 21:24:43
start of the season I was worried that we only had 1 really good centre half in Rudiger. would never have believed that Zouma and Timori would play, let alone be so fantastic together. well done Frank.

3.) 10 Nov 2019 23:12:10
I am partly with you sid. I never even thought that Tomori will stay with Chelsea let alone be main CB player, I had high hopes for Zouma though.

03 Aug 2019 17:58:37
Thank God that N'Golo is back cos we are so weak in defensive midfield without him. Kovacic and Jorginho just don't work as a 2 - and I'm sorry but I've now seen Jorginho allowed more freedom and I just don't get it - Jorginho to me is not good enough to be in the starting 11 - we should have sold him to Juve. Mason Mount, on the other hand, is going to be a 20 goal a season midfield star.

1.) 03 Aug 2019 18:38:08
Weakness in defensive midfield is the exact reason why I think Bakayoko shouldn't be shipped out in a hurry.
But Jorginho should be in the squad all day long.

2.) 03 Aug 2019 19:48:00
I’m a big fan of Jorginho. We watch games and we all see various players and performances differently. That’s one of the things that makes football such a wonderful game.

Tammy should have scored at least three today and Barkley missed an easy one on one. Also IMO Kovacic dived to get our first penalty.

I’m still confident we will win the Premiership easily and I can’t wait for next weekends game!

3.) 03 Aug 2019 19:50:09
Darren wood talking waffle again.

4.) 03 Aug 2019 20:10:01
TYomB, but their 2nd goal was down to Jorginho - it wasn't so much that he lost the ball in the opposing half but he is so slow in getting back that it throws our defense into a tizzy. I have been far more impressed by Kovacic in the pre-seasons.

5.) 04 Aug 2019 02:10:10
Jorginho has improved but he’s still a massive defensive liability. Need Kante back there because without him Jorg will struggle.

6.) 04 Aug 2019 14:22:47
IMO there is little value on judging a player on the odd mistake.

In general terms Jorginho with the exception of a few mid-season games had a superb first season.

He is slow, in fact he may be even slower than Cesc and that’s saying something but I do think Lamps will pick him for the majority of games!

06 Jul 2019 09:19:06
Let me be the 1st to say it: Lampard Out! Lol.

1.) 06 Jul 2019 11:14:58
I’m sure your joking MDW, but I’m also sure through the season there will be a few more echoing that sentiment.

Got my very green (not happy with the colour) season ticket delivered a few days ago and I can’t wait for the season to start.

We will the Premiership very easily.

2.) 06 Jul 2019 11:19:21
Hahahahahahahahaha. You are funny.

3.) 06 Jul 2019 11:36:25
obinna do you mean I’m funny or MDW?

If it’s me, I can assure you I am, as always, very positive and very, very “funny”.

4.) 06 Jul 2019 14:59:21
I was referring to MDW, sorry TomB for not stating the name of whom I was referring to. Besides TomB, you are our Captain America (the most positive Chelsea fan) .

5.) 06 Jul 2019 16:39:33
obinna, this is the time of the year to be positive!

6.) 06 Jul 2019 21:58:13
I am sooooo positive at the moment - I haven't been as excited pre-season for years - Gan Frankie's Fledglings.

All of this seems a bit silly - it is obvious he is going or he would have signed a new contract by now. And good luck to him - he has done us proud.

I have heard 100m euros (£86m) - about right with only a year left on contract.

Jackson, I totally agree about Coutinho - please no. James Rodriquez at £35m or Coutinho at £100m? No contest.

I expect Ola Aina to be in the squad next season. Aina is 22 and Reece James is only just turned 19. Also, Aina has been playing Left Back most of the season so can cover both full back positions.
