Cristensen out for rest of season so Tomori not being loaned out.

1.) 07 Jan 2021 18:44:45
Feel bad now for criticising him for not getting up,

2.) 07 Jan 2021 20:31:28
It's part of football but that kind proves everyone's point that he's not cut out for this league. I've heard the boy speak before and he really wants to be a Chelsea player so it's sad from that aspect but it would be best if he's moved on once he recovers.

3.) 07 Jan 2021 20:51:57
Always bad when a player gets a long term injury I’m sorry for him. That said, he’s on thousands of pounds a week and people are losing their jobs and businesses because of the C.V.: he is in a fortunate position.

4.) 08 Jan 2021 07:31:48
He got up a played on in that game, I don't care if he was ultimately injured long term. He could of got up, got in the box and influenced that situation. Harsh I know, but I think fair too.

5.) 08 Jan 2021 08:14:27
His passing is really decent. And he’s great on the ball. Ok in the air. But my god he’s a pussy. I like I big solid centre back.

6.) 11 Jan 2021 08:59:10
dadubliner and J and Blueboy, couldn't agree more guys, except, one aspect from blueboy1 (I like a big solid centre back), it's all about attitude mate, size isn't everything (whatever your partners might, or might not, say lol) You want to score, you got to go thru me first, but, I'm not going to lie on the ground being a girls blouse whilst my team concedes no matter how injured I may be.
Whilst I have been a big fan of AC ( fantastic in the bundasleaguer in the past) I now have to admit he is not premiership level on a week in week out basis.
Campions League, yep maybe, where it's about not losing, rather than winning, but EPL, sorry mate but you need to 'Harden up" and grow a pair!

Ed002, we seem to be concentrating on selling after KH and TS are acoss the line - is Jorginho on the list to be sold and is there any interest?

{Ed002's Note - As I have previously stated, Roma have an interest.}

23 Aug 2020 19:11:56
I have been told by someone who I consider to be a reliable source that Thiago Silva will not be joining us - he will remain at PSG for another season.

1.) 23 Aug 2020 19:17:58
PSG have come out and confirmed it his last game. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

2.) 23 Aug 2020 19:48:55
Whether we're actually in for Thiago Silva or not, it will be very interesting to see how he performs in tonight Champions League final.

We'll all see if he's up to the task or not after facing that Bayern attack!

3.) 23 Aug 2020 20:59:48
Is your friend more reliable than Fabrizo Romano?

4.) 23 Aug 2020 20:08:56
just said thiago will be leaving whether they win or lose. Definitely his last match for PSG.

5.) 24 Aug 2020 12:19:29
Looks as though my informant may be wrong on this one.

13 Aug 2020 16:34:29
'Man U to hijack £80m Chilwell' - Good!

1.) 13 Aug 2020 16:59:55
I’m actually coming round to the idea of him but only at 40m or less. I want Frank to get his targets personally. I’m not Chilwell’s biggest fan but he’s got a lot of potential and room to improve.

2.) 13 Aug 2020 17:21:10
I really don't get all the fuss over Chilwell. He's not blisteringly quick and he's not the greatest defensively. He's like a slightly quicker version of Alonso.

There are so many better LB's out there imo, I'd honestly just take Tagliafico. So much more well rounded and will cost a fraction of what Chilwell would.

3.) 13 Aug 2020 18:48:09
Tagliofico is amazing defensively but he is not at all an upgrade on Alonso or Emerson going forward.

4.) 13 Aug 2020 19:15:11
What we see and what Frank, Jody, Ash Cole see must be completely different. I like the boy and think he will be a great addition. Regardless of price, it’s not my money they are spending!

5.) 14 Aug 2020 12:38:35
Making Ben Chillwell the most expensive defender on the planet is just silly. He is not that good. It would be a burden for him and a burden for our team tbh. Really doesn't make much sense to pursue an 80 million quid deal for him. He is not the player we need. He has scored four goals in his career. Alonso gets more than that a season.

6.) 14 Aug 2020 19:05:16
Not that good? Hmm, as I previously said, Ashley Cole, Jody Morris and is Frank’s number 1 target. Man Utd wanted him, City at one stage too. But nope, not good enough. He’s 23. Got bags of potential, used to the PL, plays for his country. But not good enough. Jeez, some people are hard to please.

7.) 16 Aug 2020 05:02:57
I think he is good enough. He is a very fast LB. But that price tag? Yes, it is not our money. But it is a burden for the player and the team. He is worth half of the 80 million quid being mentioned. He is a decent player. Yes, he plays for England. Ben has made 11 appearances for England. He is fast. He is not the best going forward. He has scored 4 goals total in his playing career. He also has some issues defending.
I think there are better options out there. He is English, but we have a good amount of English players in the squad right now, we're not after fulfilling a quota of English/ Homegrown players. So the English Tax in the transfer market is something we can avoid.

26 Jul 2019 18:36:13
a lot of speculation around that we are going to 'buy' Zaha but he will stay at Palace until next summer - is this possible given our ban?

1.) 26 Jul 2019 19:27:24
Yep!

2.) 26 Jul 2019 22:15:08
Don’t really see it happening. Think the club will want to wait til January to see if anyone steps up and then revisit transfers then.

3.) 26 Jul 2019 23:49:30
Its somewhere we will need to spend money on in the next twelve months. I'm sure, if he doesn't move, Zaha will be scouted but I don't see a move for him materialising.

Maybe look towards Neres as a more likely option for next summer.

Ok - let me try a bit of objectivity this morning after my subjectivity of last night's pain.

Yes, the performance was bad - a complete lack of any creativity and a possession game that makes Sarri's teams look quick and exciting.

However, it is small margins: we were 1 inch short of getting a penalty just before we gave them a second goal. At 1-1 and with us on top and a bit more confident: who knows? As soon as they scored their 2nd, it allowed them to drop deeper and hit us on the break.

And we gave them both goals; Frank can be criticised but he can't be blamed for experienced players turning off and not doing their basic jobs.

Frank needs to decide upon a system and stick with it - I would follow the Jose method of playing deep and hitting teams with 4 fast moving forwards. Jose won the PL using this system: a rapid exchange from defensive to attack with Hazard / Costa / Willian / Oscar - and he is replicating it at Spurs.

And Frank needs to choose his best team and stick with it, only changing it to tweak it from game to game.

I really want Frank to succeed - but he has to adapt cos it ain't working.

1.) 20 Jan 2021 11:20:58
Don’t rely on 1 inch decisions. One of the worst things I ever heard.

2.) 20 Jan 2021 11:31:09
I agree MDW, but our performance and lack of intensity/ desire is the most important thing to consider. Some of the blame is on Lamps and some more on the players.

I totally agree with the 2nd part. He needs to adapt like he did last year and he needs to stick to a group of players and rotate only when necessary.
Havertz, Werner, Mason, Hakim Ziyech, Pulisic. This should be our attacking group. All of them are fast and can change positions mid game. Give them freedom and let them play direct football.

3.) 20 Jan 2021 11:54:10
Doesn't matter if it was an inch or a mile, it wasn't a penalty.

That effort and desire to close the ball down for the first goal, and go with the runner for the second has to be installed into players. Like James Maddison indicated in his post match interview, if you don't do those things for Rodgers, you don't play for Rodgers. Can the Chelsea players say the same about Lampard?

Lampard can complain about a lack of effort from players but it has to be installed by the coaching staff. The players have to buy fully into what's being coached, and be willing to run over glass for the coaching team. It's very concerning that, after a season and a half, Mount appears to be the only one with that willingness and, to be honest, I think that's just something which is in him no matter who the coach is.

Unfortunately Lampard has stuck to a system, one that it's abundantly clear isn't working. It doesn't suit our midfielders, it doesn't suit our attackers and it leaves our defence woefully exposed. But, he continues to stick with it and he continues to be out coached by most EPL coaches.

I want Lampard to succeed too, last night's performance just left me with the belief that he can't succeed.

4.) 20 Jan 2021 12:04:40
Yeah but if albrighton wasn’t few inches back he’d of been on side, if Justin headed ball few inches to the right he scored a free header, if Maddison’s free shot from outside box few inches lower it goes in rather than hit bar, we’re clutching at straws and you’ve done very well to find any sort of positive, but the positive is we know categorically that 433 isn’t working,

{Ed025's Note - for me matt (as an outsider) you are lacking that killer touch, its all very pretty but you need a diego costa or drogba mate, its all huff and puff but nobody to blow the house down..

5.) 20 Jan 2021 15:18:41
Completely agree, we have no Ars****s in the team who will show that grit and fight, we’re to soft, I swear to god Costa enjoyed fighting with defenders as much as scoring, he needed them to give it to him and fire him up. We need to add some steel,

6.) 20 Jan 2021 13:18:14
Haaland ed? We can but dream.

{Ed025's Note - hes a good player j and certainly knows where the net is, myself i was thinking someone more robust, maybe calvert lewin or break the bank for harry kane mate or someone of that ilk..

7.) 20 Jan 2021 13:51:07
I agree ed025. Jaime Redkanpp also said that we are soft. No aggression what so ever in any area.

{Ed025's Note - its painful to watch at the moment ashk, i feel sorry for frank but he needs help mate or has to go im afraid..

8.) 20 Jan 2021 17:16:55
The cavalry are coming!

18 Jan 2021 09:38:17
Right, this is the problem I have with Frank: I have no idea what team he will pick tomorrow (does he? ) ; I have no idea what his tactics will be tomorrow; I have absolutely no confidence that we will get anything from tomorrow's game.

Frank has been manager for well over a season and we have gone backwards. No new ideas of how to break down a defence except for the full-backs to get crosses in.

And as for Frank STILL playing Jorginho and Kovacic together: a case of doing the same thing over and over again but hoping for a different result.

I want Frank to succeed - Ed002 says someone of experience is coming into help Frank - can't come soon enough.

1.) 18 Jan 2021 12:57:07
Find it hilarious that’s we slated Sarri for being predictable and now Lampard for being unpredictable. Think the first believed in doing one thing great and the current manager is more agile and prefers to set up for the team he plays. Maybe just keep faith, ole looked to be on the way out and now he’s top. These things take time.

Bored in lockdown - the most important, memorable, bring a smile to your face goals in your Chelsea history?

Mine are:
1. The King diving header cup final v Leeds;
2. di Matteo - 1st minute cup final v Middlesborough;
3. Lamps away v Bolton - my first league title;
4. Drog penalty - Champions League final;
5. But my most memorable and heart-warming goal is being at Bolton on May 7 1983 to see a Clive Walker wonderstrike save us from relegation to the old 3rd Division.

1.) 06 Jan 2021 17:20:19
Not in any order but,

* Frank v Liverpool after his mother passed, that was unreal,
*The drogba champ league obviously,
*JT to beat barca,
*the poyet goal v Sunderland where Zola scooped it up and scissor kicked.
*Zola coming of bench to score in cup winners cup,
* Lampard v Bolton to secure league.

05 Jan 2021 10:42:39
It looks like Frank is to be given more time to turn things around - ok, let's get behind him and the team now.

Also, looking at the game again, I think that Mendy was at fault for all 3 goals which hasn't been mentioned: 1st goal soft hand; 2nd goal bad positioning beaten at near post; 3rd goal having come out and forced Sterling wide, why did Mendy back off allowing Sterling space to shoot?

I have said b4 that I am increasingly underwhelmed by Mendy.

1.) 05 Jan 2021 10:46:16
I honestly think Mendy could've done nothing more at any of the goals. Well, maybe the Foden goal, but I do understand his movement there. He was no more to blame than our defenders and midfielders who played an awful game. In fact I'd almost go as far as to say that Mendy was one of our better players on the day. That doesn't say much, but still.

2.) 05 Jan 2021 21:49:03
I also don't think you can really blame Mendy. But yes he's underwhelming in general, except that he is actually decent at kicking the ball out even in stressful situations.

Except for the Rashford shot I don't remember any great saves from him. Good Ed002 has confirmed he is only an interim 1st choice G. I like him as a guy tho.

04 Jan 2021 10:59:36
I think it's time to bite the bullet and, if we can get in the region of £50m for Kante, then we should cash in.

If Lamps is to stay, use the Kante money to buy Rice and go forward with a midfield 2 of Rice and Gilmour.

Gilmour's displays as sub demand that he start.

1.) 04 Jan 2021 11:19:55
Oh I agree fully with that. I've been saying that we should get Rice or someone similar since summer and that it's best to move Kante on. But with that said, I think it's better to hold on him for the time being, untill summer.
A buyer for Jorgi is a must IMO.

2.) 04 Jan 2021 11:31:53
Sell Barkley and RLC to pay for rice snd have kante and rice, legs tackling energy and rice as matic role, Gilmour / Gallagher / ampadu loans until regular and experienced, kante taking some knocks after that city game
Is mad considering mount was a puppy chasing a ball he was never going to get and kovecic was a bystander?

Ed002 has hinted at changes in Feb - but I can't imagine that would be sacking Frank - you surely wouldn't plan to sack your manager in a month's time!

HNY to all the Eds. Great review Ed002 - many thanks.

Ed002, will it be more difficult for younger overseas players to get immigration status now that we've left the EU?

{Ed002's Note - 16 and 17 year old will not b options.}

Liverpool won the CL by beating us with a goal that never was and an AC Milan who so unprofessionally decided the game was over at 3-0 up and stopped playing.

Manchester City have been the best English team over the past 5 seasons with the best manager but have never even reached a CL final.

Leicester won the PL for pity's sake!

From a coaching point of view, it would have to be the nearest man - that would be Kovecic. It would not be Abraham as he would stay near post because of his height.

But this should all be worked out on the training pitch - it is basic - someone was not doing their job and that points to Kovecic.

If Barkley is the answer, you're asking the wrong question!
