Hi Ed002, now that Upamecano looks Bayern bound, what other CBs are we considering?

Miss Darren Wood

{Ed002's Note - At the moment everything depends on whether or not Thiago agrees a one year extention, departures and how two players progress.}

1.) 13 Feb 2021 16:46:15
Not that I’ve seen and I wouldn’t be able to judge In the Championship but Marc guehi has had some great write ups and reviews.

2.) 13 Feb 2021 16:57:34
Are the two players Sarr and Guehi?

3.) 13 Feb 2021 20:36:27
Guehi and Ampadu, which I think both should get a good chance.

4.) 13 Feb 2021 22:14:06
Ed can i ask how Chelsea currently feel about Malang Sarr Dvelopment. I havnt seen him in the porto squad for while until today.

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know, I would need to ask.}

5.) 14 Feb 2021 08:24:46
Played against Braga last week too KTBFFH.

07 Jan 2021 18:24:55
Cristensen out for rest of season so Tomori not being loaned out.

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 07 Jan 2021 18:44:45
Feel bad now for criticising him for not getting up,

2.) 07 Jan 2021 20:31:28
It's part of football but that kind proves everyone's point that he's not cut out for this league. I've heard the boy speak before and he really wants to be a Chelsea player so it's sad from that aspect but it would be best if he's moved on once he recovers.

3.) 07 Jan 2021 20:51:57
Always bad when a player gets a long term injury I’m sorry for him. That said, he’s on thousands of pounds a week and people are losing their jobs and businesses because of the C.V.: he is in a fortunate position.

4.) 08 Jan 2021 07:31:48
He got up a played on in that game, I don't care if he was ultimately injured long term. He could of got up, got in the box and influenced that situation. Harsh I know, but I think fair too.

5.) 08 Jan 2021 08:14:27
His passing is really decent. And he’s great on the ball. Ok in the air. But my god he’s a pussy. I like I big solid centre back.

6.) 11 Jan 2021 08:59:10
dadubliner and J and Blueboy, couldn't agree more guys, except, one aspect from blueboy1 (I like a big solid centre back), it's all about attitude mate, size isn't everything (whatever your partners might, or might not, say lol) You want to score, you got to go thru me first, but, I'm not going to lie on the ground being a girls blouse whilst my team concedes no matter how injured I may be.
Whilst I have been a big fan of AC ( fantastic in the bundasleaguer in the past) I now have to admit he is not premiership level on a week in week out basis.
Campions League, yep maybe, where it's about not losing, rather than winning, but EPL, sorry mate but you need to 'Harden up" and grow a pair!

27 Aug 2020 13:15:16
Ed002, we seem to be concentrating on selling after KH and TS are acoss the line - is Jorginho on the list to be sold and is there any interest?

Miss Darren Wood

{Ed002's Note - As I have previously stated, Roma have an interest.}

23 Aug 2020 19:11:56
I have been told by someone who I consider to be a reliable source that Thiago Silva will not be joining us - he will remain at PSG for another season.

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 23 Aug 2020 19:17:58
PSG have come out and confirmed it his last game. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

2.) 23 Aug 2020 19:48:55
Whether we're actually in for Thiago Silva or not, it will be very interesting to see how he performs in tonight Champions League final.

We'll all see if he's up to the task or not after facing that Bayern attack!

3.) 23 Aug 2020 20:59:48
Is your friend more reliable than Fabrizo Romano?

4.) 23 Aug 2020 20:08:56
just said thiago will be leaving whether they win or lose. Definitely his last match for PSG.

5.) 24 Aug 2020 12:19:29
Looks as though my informant may be wrong on this one.

13 Aug 2020 16:34:29
'Man U to hijack £80m Chilwell' - Good!

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 13 Aug 2020 16:59:55
I’m actually coming round to the idea of him but only at 40m or less. I want Frank to get his targets personally. I’m not Chilwell’s biggest fan but he’s got a lot of potential and room to improve.

2.) 13 Aug 2020 17:21:10
I really don't get all the fuss over Chilwell. He's not blisteringly quick and he's not the greatest defensively. He's like a slightly quicker version of Alonso.

There are so many better LB's out there imo, I'd honestly just take Tagliafico. So much more well rounded and will cost a fraction of what Chilwell would.

3.) 13 Aug 2020 18:48:09
Tagliofico is amazing defensively but he is not at all an upgrade on Alonso or Emerson going forward.

4.) 13 Aug 2020 19:15:11
What we see and what Frank, Jody, Ash Cole see must be completely different. I like the boy and think he will be a great addition. Regardless of price, it’s not my money they are spending!

5.) 14 Aug 2020 12:38:35
Making Ben Chillwell the most expensive defender on the planet is just silly. He is not that good. It would be a burden for him and a burden for our team tbh. Really doesn't make much sense to pursue an 80 million quid deal for him. He is not the player we need. He has scored four goals in his career. Alonso gets more than that a season.

6.) 14 Aug 2020 19:05:16
Not that good? Hmm, as I previously said, Ashley Cole, Jody Morris and is Frank’s number 1 target. Man Utd wanted him, City at one stage too. But nope, not good enough. He’s 23. Got bags of potential, used to the PL, plays for his country. But not good enough. Jeez, some people are hard to please.

7.) 16 Aug 2020 05:02:57
I think he is good enough. He is a very fast LB. But that price tag? Yes, it is not our money. But it is a burden for the player and the team. He is worth half of the 80 million quid being mentioned. He is a decent player. Yes, he plays for England. Ben has made 11 appearances for England. He is fast. He is not the best going forward. He has scored 4 goals total in his playing career. He also has some issues defending.
I think there are better options out there. He is English, but we have a good amount of English players in the squad right now, we're not after fulfilling a quota of English/ Homegrown players. So the English Tax in the transfer market is something we can avoid.

My MoM: Mount and Werner (ignoring the 2nd half miss - although thought his after-match comments were hilarious - who says the Germans don't have a sense of humour?! ) .

That Mount turn in the box in the 1st half was pure World class genius - and he's only 21! He's going to be frightening in a few years.

Got to find a way to play Mount as an 8 in the same starting 11 as Havertz as a 10 - that'll be our attacking midfield for the next 10 years (and if we can add Kessie - then wow, just wow) .

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 25 Apr 2021 14:32:41
100% agree with your post MDW.

Playing Mount and Havertz in the same way we did Ballack and Lamps would be a dream for me.

2.) 25 Apr 2021 15:06:42
MDW, i haven't been impressed by Kessie. the times i've seen him which is just a handful of times . i don't see him suit the PL or our team.

We need a fabregas type player who can unlock defenses with some intelligent passes
or a maddison type player.

3.) 25 Apr 2021 17:30:17
We already Have Mount and Havertz, so why Madison? Although I like him as a player.

We need a physical midfielder, Rice or anyone that suits this profile.
I also agree that we need someone with Fab like vision, hopefully to replace Jorginho.

4.) 25 Apr 2021 17:43:12
I do think that Havertz will grow into the Fab / Maddison role - and Kessie is a beast but doubt whether we will get him. I still think we should be pursuing Rice.

{Ed077's Note - Fab?}

5.) 25 Apr 2021 17:56:40
Wouldnt want Kessie he isn't even that good and he's not the profile we need he's more of a box to box like Kante is.

Id prefer to go for Rice or Kamara.

22 Apr 2021 13:46:23
I don't mean to play Devil's advocate and I accept this may not be a popular view but I think the outrage from fans over the ESL has been disproportionate and misinformed.

The ESL would replace / be detrimental to the Champions League and would not affect domestic leagues - so why the massive demonstrations of misplaced frenzied indignation?

Also, the ESL would allow other teams to gain entry to the league through success in their respective domestic leagues.

So I really don't see the problem and I don't see why Chelsea fans shouldn't be exuberantly supporting the ESL.

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 22 Apr 2021 14:16:10
As I understood the proposal the founders could not be relegated and that’s the bit I didn’t like.

I am a very big supporter of a restructure and would be a big supporter of it running in parallel with the Premiership.

A restructuring of the English leagues is overdue and I would be happy to see it happen as per Ed02’s suggestion.

2.) 22 Apr 2021 14:33:06
It’s non competitive with no relegation, and automatic entry takes the competitiveness away form premier league,

3.) 22 Apr 2021 15:14:15
Sorry Matt but that's nonsense - are you really saying that winning the PL wouldn't remain important to Chelsea ans it's fans?

And there is relegation and promotion - just not for the founders. This is what I mean: opposition based on misinformation.

4.) 22 Apr 2021 15:29:17
Midway through the season when you know the league is out of your hands then what, can’t be kicked out of ESL and will qualify every year as a founder, what’s the point? This season for example we haven’t been in a. Title race since before Xmas, that would of been the season going through the motions. Playing fringe players and first team for ESL,

5.) 22 Apr 2021 15:30:02
We would be a founding club there for - no relegation. L.

6.) 22 Apr 2021 19:42:15
After the Brighton game, 'going through the motions' would be an apt description of Chelsea's efforts!

And it is because we would be in a position of no relegation that I am surprised by Chelsea supporters response.

7.) 22 Apr 2021 22:04:58
I agree actually.

I get it, but.

The winners of the champions league get less prize money than the bottom placed tema in the Prem?

All of the media we heard comdeming it have MASSIVE horse in this race becaus ethey all broadcast the current prduct.

That product would likely have been replaced with club controlled maedia (to a degree) .

I really think that UEFA created a problem with their own policy and are doing their best to hold back 'market forces'.

We're all socialist all of a sudden (sorry) .

8.) 23 Apr 2021 09:44:10
We'll keep the Red Flag - eh, sorry Blue Flag with tinges of Red - flying here!

21 Apr 2021 18:58:22
It gives me no pleasure to say this but it is becoming increasingly obvious to me why Thomas Tuchel was sacked by PSG, despite in 2 seasons with PSG twice winning the French league and winning a domestic quadruple last season as well as getting them to the CL final.

His football style is turgid and makes Sarri's brand of football seem exciting. I hope Tuchel for his own sake (because he's seems to be a decent chap) gets us to a CL final and seriously challenges City for the title next season because I can't now see him lasting much beyond the end of next season if that long.

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 21 Apr 2021 19:07:37
On several occasions it’s not been easy on the eye MDW but we surely have to give him some time at least one window.

Lamps said on several occasions about our lack of goals and we all hoped Werner would be the 20 goal a season solution but he has struggled for goals although his general play has improved.

Next season we become a TT team if that makes sense. I think that will be the time to judge him fairly.

I will be pleased but surprised if we now make the top 4 but as always I live in hope.

2.) 21 Apr 2021 21:19:09
Totally agree with you MDW. We are getting results but in no way we are dominant and we are yet to see this team come back from behind and win a game, of course I know we haven't been there but I don't see it in this team.

I still think Lampard deserved to stay at least until the end of this season.

3.) 21 Apr 2021 22:23:47
I just don;t get it.

I love pragmatic controled football. I think we're playing excellent football with the exception of a few games against deep lying defences.

BTW Tuchel is renowned for playing exciting attacking football and was never sacked for being less than exciting.

Give the man a preseason at least.

4.) 21 Apr 2021 22:54:01
Completely agree Nath.

5.) 21 Apr 2021 23:50:47
yh I agree not his fault our attavkers don't move n finish their chances.

6.) 22 Apr 2021 07:19:37
MDW . I completely disagree with you.

There are many ways to play football and its ever evolving. I care about winning and our football is not boring.

we can improve but we are a team that no one . no one wnats to play against . and i take pride in that.

we can with the CL . we have the organisation and the level of play required to do so .

i would like to add . the mentality
something we have missed and seem to be getting it back

onwards and upwards.

7.) 22 Apr 2021 07:50:22
Couldn't agree much more with Nath than I do. The results have been more than fine. We're one of the few clubs that been able to properly take on teams like Manchester City, Liverpool (well perhaps not so few clubs this season), Atletico.
Our record in the biggest games is outstanding at speaks for itself. Does dominating a game against Brighton define a top team? Or does constantly winning against your closest competitors? There's no doubt in my mind, that a true top team is the one that clutches out in the biggest games. Then who cares if you draw against a team like Brighton every once in a while. rubbish happens.
Also, please give the man a chance to actually form this team into his philosophy? He's not been given a single signing, but he has on the contrary made our players play better.

8.) 22 Apr 2021 10:31:16
I think the preference is to strengthen the defence and achieve top4. Our defence let us down in Dec and was the reason we lost steam. TT clearly recognises this and has given additional resource to support defence and as a result attack suffers. Attacking with 3 at the back is an art and so far I have seen only conte master it. No one else has his impact with that approach. Having said my issue with TT is approach with Gilly and tammy. While tammy may be contract related Gilly should be on bench for all games and should play when kova, jorgi or kante are not avl. No excuses there and it's on TT he didn't handle things properly for Brighton and west brom games.
Also I don't think we can play 4 at the back with Rudi/ jorgi playing in the team. They are simply not capable of handling the additional responsibility.

9.) 22 Apr 2021 11:28:47
I totally disagree with you Ashk21 on lampard. in the contrary he should have been sacked long before we did. we could still be in touch with city for the title. many of the players performing now would have left in the January window as he had demoralized them through naivety. and many would have asked to leave like Kante. in sure you wouldn't have minded as your rice will be be signed. thung u have noticed is that you are incurigably biased. I know you will be having a mixed feelings as only that ccas TT is doing so well as you had wanted him to fail from your previous post you can say how wrongthe board was in sacking fraank . I trust tboard to alwaymake the best decision. I always like to see the best in whatever capacity at Chelsea as only that can bring us success and not untamed primordal sentiments like nationality. ashk open your mindset to become a football fan.

10.) 22 Apr 2021 13:32:22
I really hope that I am wrong about TT and pray that next season we will be a more attacking, exciting team.

But to all those who are questioning my analysis of TT, answer me this: Why was he sacked by PSG after being seemingly so successful there?

11.) 22 Apr 2021 13:43:37
Some strange comments on here that Chelsea are getting results? Chelsea were 11 points behind PL leaders Man United when TT joined. Chelsea are still 11 points behind United but are now 22 behind top team City. He has barely improved the huge summer signings. Werner might be a just a smidge better, Ziyech is ghastly, and Havertz is still treading water. Tuchel has improved Rudiger, Azpi a touch, and has sharpened Chillwell who was getting lazy. The tweak to the system has improved Chelsea without the ball and promotes safe possession, that compliments Jorginho, and appears to have allowed Kova to rekindle the from he had before the losing run hit. The one clear area of improvement is defending set pieces. The best players at Chelsea are still the YA players, so well done Frank Lampard. Lest we forget. Tuchel has thrown points down the drain with his team selections in often home games v the lesser teams. Off the top of my head, Wolves, WBA, Brighton, and got lucky v Sheffield in the FA cup. Chelsea have been excellent v Atleti, Liverpool and Palace away. The rest of the performances have been efficient, but in the main they have been turgid to watch. I am sorry to say but when I consider and read that Jorginho is being singled out for playing well, (and he has been decent) I know that the team is pedestrian and basically defensive in mind set. Tuchel has abandoned Billy Gilmour, dropped TA from the squad, humiliated CHO, something he would never have done to Ziyech or Werner. I am not sure that Tuchel will gain any more points in the second half of the season than they had gained in the first half. But nothing is lost, and I have everything crossed that Chelsea make the top 4, make the CL final and win the FA cup. As for Tuchel, imo his future at Chelsea has not moved to a better or a worse position at this time. But Bagging the FA cup won’t be enough.

12.) 22 Apr 2021 14:09:53
MDW he fell out with the board.

I remember that he was after a defender but they bought a midfielder so he played the midfielder in defense.

It went downhill after that.

It was all very 'Conte' (another wonderful manager)

13.) 22 Apr 2021 15:29:13
ilo, there is nothing wrong with having players you rate and any poster who rates Rice or any other player is just giving an opinion. In the sam way you bang on about Haaland.

I’m biased and I admit and if we are honest we all have biased views.

You really haven’t got any more idea than anyone else if players would have left in January if Lamps had stayed it’s just your view and that’s fine.

Posters can say, if Lamps had stayed we would now comfortably be qualifying for the Champions League. They would be entitled to say it because it’s there “biased” opinion. No more no less.

Let’s not confuse opinions with stats or for that matter facts.

21 Apr 2021 15:18:11
Having read through the posts, I see that many posters are demanding the resignation of Bruce Buck and to me this just shows the fickleness of us supporters.

Bruce Buck is a Chelsea Board member but he is employed by Roman Abramovich who owns the club. And sorry for the pun but the buck stops with RA as owner.

Abramovich must have known what was going on and he must have had the final say in sanctioning joining the ESL. But I have yet to see 1 post demanding that RA sell the club.

Could it be a case of us Chelsea fans not wanting to bite the hand that feeds us?!

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 21 Apr 2021 16:12:12
I agree MDW. A period of sanity would be good before management make any rash decisions.

I think the anger toward Bruce Buck stems from a recent fans forum.

2.) 21 Apr 2021 18:12:30
Because there was reports saying that RA was misinformed by Buck and the board, but if he was the man responsible for it, he should just simply sell the club and be done with it.

I don't think we should call RA or anyone that decided to come out of the ESL, heroes. They just saw that this proposal won't be profitable in the long run and there would be too much hassle and then decided to come out.

Anyway, I think the best way to go forward would be with the implementation of the 50+1 rule.

3.) 21 Apr 2021 18:36:45
AshK, 50+1 totally agree - but I can't see a Tory Government supporting such interference in the free market.

{Ed001's Note - that's what the fans need to stand together and force through. Any govt will do it if it wins votes.} Become a Patron!

4.) 21 Apr 2021 18:37:38
The Chelsea supporters trust has put out a string statement. The fans need to learn why this decision was taken and what is being done for this not to happen again.

Don't care if it's Bruce or RA or anyone else . we need some answers and need to know that we all want what's best for Chelsea football club . the fans . the staff and all who love this club with our hearts n souls

KTBFFH.

5.) 21 Apr 2021 18:48:52
I certainly wouldn’t want any other owner than Roman. Am I disappointed? YES.

Ashk, have you looked at the Liverpool site? If not, can I suggest you and scroll through the banter for the last 24 hours on this subject.

Of course Roman and the board have to take some responsibility for what’s happened and my guess is the club will face some sort of sanction.

It will leave a bitter taste for a while but eventually we will all move on to more success.

6.) 21 Apr 2021 21:21:27
I have seen it Tom, thanks for the suggestion. It was insightful.

I totally agree with Ed001. A restructure is long overdue.

20 Apr 2021 19:50:57
So Chelsea have reportedly withdrawn from the ESL - and posters are 100% in support of that decision it seems.

Question: how will everybody react if the ESL goes ahead and we are on the outside looking in?

Miss Darren Wood

1.) 20 Apr 2021 20:03:28
I couldn't care less. Let them have a go at it. It will fail miserably.

2.) 20 Apr 2021 20:04:26
MDW I don’t care, we have done the right thing. If it goes ahead so be it.

3.) 20 Apr 2021 20:08:34
The wheels are off, it’ll be done slowly snd properly in time with a competitive format, woodwood resigned, juve bloke, agneili resigned too, i.

4.) 20 Apr 2021 20:12:33
Good.

5.) 20 Apr 2021 20:20:40
I personally wouldn’t care less I’d rather anther watch Chelsea in the national league knowing they put there hands up and did the right thing not happy they even tried to do this but don’t know all the facts all I know is we can take sone pride our club has made the right choice.

6.) 20 Apr 2021 20:23:09
Kicking the can down the road springs to mind MDW.

As I posted some time ago, reorganisation is way overdue.

My view of the English leagues is almost exactly the same as the excellent summary by Ed02 and also in part posted by MDW yesterday.

My issue wasn’t the concept of a Euro League but more the semi closed shop aspect.

If it were possible to run with both the Premiership and Euro League in parallel it would work for me but it’s probably unlikely.

Anyway, thanks again Ed for all your patience, updates and opinions. I’m sure we will be talking about the issue again at some stage.

7.) 20 Apr 2021 20:36:10
I’d much rather watch the Premier League, to be honest.

Ed001, no apology? Pathetic!

And maybe you and Ed002 should leave commenting on the Chelsea site to Eds who can deal with debate and not just Yes men!

Miss Darren Wood

{Ed001's Note - why would I apologise to you? You have done nothing but spout ignorance, even the idiotic attempt to talk about Soviet-style censorship, like you know what that is! How many times have we sent someone round your gaff to drag you off to a gulag? Let me guess, is it none? So certainly no Soviet-style here. Just you lack the intellect to make a point without lying and twisting words no one has said. In other words you are nothing but a troll.

If this is what you call debate, you really need to work on it as the only thing you have shown is an ability to be a mass-debater and have offered nothing in terms of points or counters, just whines and mistruths.

As for leaving it to other editors, no one wants to edit your trolling posts as they all think you are nothing but a troll who should be banned. But fine, if you don't want me to deal with your posts, I won't. No skin off my nose, you are not worth my time, I will just wave at you under the bridge as I pass.

Take care Miss Donald Trump!}

Ed001, right back at yer - you are talking utter nonsense as are the vast majority of fans.

How are clubs supposed to continue to pay the ever increasing wage and bonus demands from the top players? How are clubs supposed to stay in the black? How many clubs will need to go bankrupt before you remove your head from the sand?

Do you expect players to continue to play twice a week for 11 months of the year? Or are you not bothered about the long-term effects of such physical demands on the body? Will you be suggesting that EUFA and FIFA pay for the wheelchairs / knee and hip replacements / long-term medical care for all ex-players beginning in their 40s?

Just how much do clubs have to go into debt to assuage your beloved 1970s attitude to football?

Are you going to continue to promote the PL as the exemplar of competitiveness regardless of the facts that prove otherwise?

And just in passing, the proposed ESL DOES allow ANY club to join the league dependent upon their performance in their respective domestic leagues. The proposed ESL DOES have an element of relegation. The proposed ESL does NOT interfere with the present set-up of domestic leagues and does NOT propose that clubs leave their domestic leagues to join the ESL.

But 'facts' are not the currency of you Trumpian-like anti-ESL evangelists, are they!

(And will you be posting this comment or applying your Soviet-style censorship? )

{Ed001's Note - they already make plenty of money, their income grows year on year. You really do not have a clue. Clubs don't go bankrupt because of a lack of money in the game, they go bankrupt because they are choosing to spend more than they make. You are embarrassing yourself now. I don't need to remove my head from the sand, I fully understand that the problem is clubs being badly run and chasing the dream of gloryhunting fans.

What on earth is playing twice a week for 11 months got to do with this? It is irrelevant. Nothing in the plan was about players' welfare, which is why almost every single player in the game was against it.

My beloved 70s attitude? You really are wasting my time with your stupidity now. Nothing I have said is related to the Prem, nothing I have said called it any kind of exemplar of competitiveness. You are just flat out lying now. If you can't even make a case without lying about what others have said then it just shows you have no case to argue.

The ESL does NOT allow ANY club to join dependent upon their performance in their respective leagues at all. You really need to check your 'facts' Donald. You are again lying. It is getting sad now. The 'element' of relegation only applies to five clubs. It is not really much of an element when the vast majority of the teams cannot be relegated. The currently proposed ESL might not propose they leave, but that is the long term aim of those setting it up.

None of your post is related to anything but your ignorance and I am done bothering with you and your bull****. You and your moronic attitude is why no editors want to deal with the Chelsea site. I am not Trumpian, you are the one spouting ignorant lies as gospel truth. Soviet-style censorship? What is wrong with you?

Just in passing you really do not know anything about the plan but you are typical of the Trump you clearly worship - shout a lot of crap and if you say it enough people will listen to you.}

Ed002, why? It makes the Chelsea page seem redundant.

Very unlucky to lose - but have to be watchful of chasing the game in the 2nd Leg as we were doing in the last 15 minutes - Bayern could have, maybe should have, scored again on the break.

A great advert for the women's game.

gg, really?! It is 2021 you know!
