Would a club generally negotiate for there number one target in a certain position then move to the next if uncussesful or would they negotiate simultaneously for targets in the same position? Forgive me if that makes no sense! I quite enjoy your insite into how transfers actually work, it's fascinating actually.

{Ed002's Note - You don't try to negotiate to buy players for the same position at the same time but you do establish if it is a viable opportunity or not. Once that is established you figure out some sort of plan.}

30 Jul 2017 15:12:39
Matic deal completed.

1.) 30 Jul 2017 15:41:32
For the reported fee it's a good deal. Read a while ago that Conte was told he needs to sell to buy, don't buy into that but it would make sense with our slow dealings in the market. Not trying to come of as a moaner but our squad is soo thin and with even Conte taking digs at Chelsea about our transfer business and our last two games despite being pre-season games, the team needs improving. Aren't many realistic options out their that improve our starting 11 anymore. Just hope Conte gets good enough players, his words of late haven't gotten many Chelsea fans hopeful for the new season.

2.) 30 Jul 2017 16:26:43
There's nothing good about it. He brought dominance to Chelsea's midfield.

3.) 30 Jul 2017 17:04:22
Yes, Matic appeared to be getting back to best last season - though several on here think that he is past his best and too slow - and that we have sold him to United hurts. I am hanging on to ed 002's advice not to worry, that more deals will be done, but right now our squad seems even thinner than last year and we have the ECL as well as EPL this season.

{Ed018's Note - Kante did a lot of covering for Matic. He's still a solid player but he can't be counted on to cover much ground. He will be good in a 3 man midfield playing the holding role. He will struggle a little bit in a 2 man midfield}

4.) 30 Jul 2017 17:18:37
CM is down to just 2 fit players now. And we have Spurs and Everton in August. We could be in trouble.

{Ed018's Note - and those are matches, especially the one against Spurs that Fabregas will struggle in}

5.) 30 Jul 2017 17:21:36
Ed018 can we have little update on transfers, tried searching posts and really don't want to pester 002,

{Ed018's Note - nothing has changed at the moment to the best of my knowledge}

6.) 30 Jul 2017 17:28:39
Thanks for comments Ed018, appreciated.

7.) 30 Jul 2017 18:19:37
Sounds like we'll be after another cm.

Matic was great, but not complete. Bakayoko is an upgrade.

Renato Sanchez is feeling like a possibility and weren't we in for a young Russian that was recommended by Leonard Slutzky?

{Ed002's Note - Golorov.}

8.) 30 Jul 2017 18:30:29
Thought that was Golovin?

{Ed002's Note - His sister.}

9.) 30 Jul 2017 18:01:42
Exactly, Ed018. Fabregas will struggle with the bigger teams giving him no space and constantly pressing the midfield. Kante struggles with that as well. Plus Kante gets massively exposed because Fab can't cover people in any way.

Holy hell, it's going to be tough.

10.) 30 Jul 2017 19:19:35
Plenty of time to go. Selling Matic is good business. That's money I'm sure will be reinvested in the squad. Now is not the time to worry. We still have plenty of time to bring body's in. I think we have bought well so far. Bar Costa we so far have a stronger squad that what won the league last season (granted a bit thin now we have more games) The positive thing also is that we are still looking to bring in 3-4 players. If we can get another CM and cover/ starters for the WB positions we will be laughing.

11.) 30 Jul 2017 19:31:59
With a month to go we need players bedded in and the longer we take the more teams will hold out for top money. My biggest worry is our vulnerability to pace in defence. I know we are training and other teams were ahead of us but we looked like cart horses against Bayern and Inter and several teams exposed us last year.

12.) 30 Jul 2017 19:39:11
If we go get Alex Sandro and AOC, that should address the lack of pace in our back line.

13.) 30 Jul 2017 20:56:38
WE can only hope that selling Matic means that suitable cover on its way. Of course the problem with saying this sale is a good deal (even if to Man Utd? ) is whether the money brought in can be used to buy addition/ s of sufficient quality.

14.) 30 Jul 2017 22:06:35
Matic still a CFC player as i type this i think.

{Ed018's Note - he's as good as gone}

15.) 30 Jul 2017 22:33:55
Confusing to see how many think we're stronger than last season. Morata suits our system more but he is no way better than costa imo. Bakayoko may be slightly better than Matic but Matic has gotten a lot of unnecessary stick from our fan base and is not as bad of a player as many say. All that's happened is we've lost depth. I know we'll get that back this window i just hope it's the right depth and some improvements to our starting 11.

16.) 31 Jul 2017 07:27:11
God help Chelsea if Matic leaves a someone doesn't come in.

Ed please any good from anywhere- no matter how small.

19 Jul 2017 12:54:17
Also Di Marzio saying deal done between city and Madrid for Danilo.

1.) 19 Jul 2017 13:05:37
That just makes me think we are definitely getting Danilo.

2.) 19 Jul 2017 13:46:10
Why would Danilo go there though? City have just spent a world record amount on Walker, so it's extremely unlikely imo that he's going to start in front of Walker. Which in that case I'd rather be second choice in Madrid than second choice at City. With us it's very different. Moses isn't a RWB despite the fact that he played very well there last season (and I expect him to continue in that role) and we didn't spend an extortionate amount of money on him. So the challenge of usurping the starting berth from Moses is a lot easier task.

3.) 19 Jul 2017 13:49:02
Danilo wants his place back in the Brazil team. He's not going to get that on the bench at Citeh.

4.) 19 Jul 2017 14:21:52
Haven't a clue lads I'm just telling you what he said. Hopefully he has some sense and doesn't go but money talks I guess.

5.) 19 Jul 2017 15:37:29
In current market £30m if fantastic value for a player of his quality. One of the best full backs in the world and would fit perfectly into wing back role. I hope we can still get this over the line.

6.) 19 Jul 2017 15:41:12
Never really rated Danilo but would've liked to see if Conte could've gotten him back to his best. Don't know what other targets we have available at the RB position, Aurier would be a good shout or Ricardo Periera? . Danilo is still possible i guess but with our squad soo thin atm we're really desperate to get new players in.

7.) 19 Jul 2017 16:14:21
Sky now reporting that a deal has been reached. I'm honestly surprised. guess the pay rise is worth swapping a place on the bench at Real for one at City.

8.) 19 Jul 2017 17:06:27
Danilo to Chelsea is more feasible. If we can bag both Danilo and Morata, then may be the EPL trophy is in site.

9.) 19 Jul 2017 17:10:06
going from reals bench to city is pointless what a waste for the lad he's obviously only money driven. wpuld love if chelsea matched the offer to see what he would do.

10.) 19 Jul 2017 17:31:56
I would suspect Danilo may be used as LWB aswell as back up for walker.

Other than him I can't think of anyone we have been linked to?

{Ed002's Note - No, they are buying a LB or two as well.}

11.) 19 Jul 2017 18:17:14
We should Hijack the mendy deal!

12.) 19 Jul 2017 20:29:40
JCFC, City are likely to get Mendy as far as I'm aware, so even if he's utilised as a LB/ LWB, he's still going to be riding the bench a lot.

13.) 19 Jul 2017 18:13:36
Thanks Ed.
They are really serious.

14.) 19 Jul 2017 18:22:26
Thanks for the clarification ED. You know your rich when you can spend roughly 80 million on 2 RB's. I'm sure we have other targets in mind other than Danilo.

19 Jul 2017 12:52:56
De marzio and Romano both reporting that we are in advance talks to sign Morata.

Make of that what you will and don't shoot the messenger.

1.) 19 Jul 2017 15:05:05
I'd be delighted, let's hope so.

15 Jul 2017 16:39:27
Bakayoko completed. Confirmed officialy by Chelsea.

1.) 15 Jul 2017 16:43:39
Can someone tell Matt Martin to relax now 😂.

2.) 15 Jul 2017 16:58:04
Finally. I need to go lie down now as this transfer has drained me with all the ups and downs 😩😂.

3.) 15 Jul 2017 16:59:44
BAKAYOKO! at last.

4.) 15 Jul 2017 17:06:05
JCFC yes mate, he can finally chill.

5.) 15 Jul 2017 17:24:32
Awesome signing so happy.

6.) 15 Jul 2017 18:09:49
JCFC, I'm a little relaxed, excited to have 3 centre mids and 4 competitions to play in. and michy and rent leasing the line. exciting times ahead. X.

7.) 15 Jul 2017 19:05:42
Defiantly Matt.

8.) 15 Jul 2017 20:53:26
Michy and remy leading the line *.

9.) 15 Jul 2017 21:00:39
Remy is leaving I believe, and so too Michy. Although I'd be happy to keep Michy.

10.) 15 Jul 2017 22:49:26
Even better hopefully we get llorente and Hernandez on and I can stop being mr negative lol.

{Ed018's Note - maybe just take a deep breath and relax. It'll all work out just fine. You've been way to stressed out on here this past week or so}

11.) 15 Jul 2017 23:17:55
My therapist has said unless ed002 re briefs on targets and updates without the clowns with there abuse my stress levels could reach fatal levels?

12.) 16 Jul 2017 19:07:14
Keep Calm And Support Chelsea. Matt haha.

performance of the season so far. controlled the game from back to front. everything went our way, including a little bit of luck here and there but that's football. really liked the line up and through 3 at the back really worked out well. the subs were spot on also. put the Chel!

30 Dec 2018 19:19:52
Just my opinion on the CHO moving to Bayern. If I'm honest I think he will go if a bid is accepted. my reason for this stems back to pre season. He was heads and shoulders our best player, the media, the manager and all of social media hyped him up. I believe he probably expected to get more game time because if it, and rightly so. and then a massive anti climax, to barley feature for the first team at all after some amazing performances. He probably feels "what more could I do" couple that with Jadon Sancho breaking into the England squad and our history of, I guess hindering youngsters coming in leaves me to believe he is off. I, myself feel he should have been given more time, he absolutely proved himself in pre season. Don't get me wrong I'm not a football manager nor do i know what goes on behind closed doors. im just a fan looking from the outside but If your good enough your old enough. I really do feel we have a world beater, superior in talent than Sancho but I also don't blame the lad if he does move on.

1.) 30 Dec 2018 20:42:02
I’m not sure he is good enough YET but I would like to see home given more match time as the season progresses.

Also I would like to see him on the pitch with the first eleven not players who rarely make the team. If that makes sense.

2.) 30 Dec 2018 20:52:07
i think wel all be fairly gutted if we lose another superstar.

3.) 30 Dec 2018 21:49:38
I take your point Magic but I do think he has a long way to go before being called a superstar!

4.) 30 Dec 2018 21:52:27
Very good post. CHO showed in pre season that he can mix up with the best, he was one of our best players back then. In my opinion, he is more than good enough to play. he is a special talent. I don't understand how he isn't seen good enough and why Willian is constantly favoured over him. He needs a chance. This one will be biting us up the back side really hard if he leaves. more than others because as fans we all know his got it all.

Our track record for young players is abysmal. RLC is literally forcing himself to be picked, he can't do anymore than score goals and probably has more goals than the other CMS put together and yet his not a starter?

I think as a club we are poor at integrating young players into main team and are more inclined to buy players that other clubs develop.

5.) 30 Dec 2018 21:53:21
Will he really be guaranteed more game time at Bayern?

6.) 30 Dec 2018 22:17:22
I would have to say yes, he would. the German league is less competitive, yes bayern are not in the best of form granted but with their aging wingers there is definitely plenty of opportunity for him.

7.) 30 Dec 2018 22:17:58
Jeremie boga was our best player pre season with conte and where is he now, let’s not judge “ superstars “ in meaningless pre season v unfit squad rotated players, CHO can be good player but we haven’t seen near enough to know for sure, hopefully he stays and turns into a sane sterling type rather than a kakuta or boga.

8.) 30 Dec 2018 22:18:11
I think they see him as replacing robben/ Ribery. Plus the German league is so much easier and he will become an 80-100 million star there.

9.) 31 Dec 2018 00:18:14
Matt Martin, what you’re forgetting is momentum. Boga has momentum and had that stripped when cahill got stupidly sent off against. Burnley opening day.

We can’t play CHO with the bench players and say he isn’t good enough when the team struggle. He’s someone that could come on and make a difference in the 60th minute when Willian needs a break. We need to see him on the bench from now on with one striker and 2 mids. We don’t need two strikes or 3 midfielders or 4 defenders on the bench. It’s vital.

10.) 31 Dec 2018 10:33:25
Boga had enough momentum when played week in week out on loan, I see no superstar, and I don’t want to hear that championship or lower leagues doesn’t help players, mount does ok and dele Ali was a star at mk dons, we have a tendency to over hype our young players, it’s about attitude, as much as skill, I think he will stay and fight personally, or sign a deal and go Germany on loan to get regular time, win win.

30 Aug 2017 11:01:45
Surely if it is to be beloved the ox has turned us down we must have someone else in mind for the wing back role. At the risk of sounding negative we are painfully short in this area, with 4 completions to compete in we simply cannot do that effectively with the depth we currently have. It's going to be an interesting 36 hours! I'm not ruling out a massive out of the blue bid from someone we.

1.) 30 Aug 2017 11:22:09
Backup for Alonso!!! Central midfielder!!!!( Drinkwater,Barkley- both if possible).And Central Back or RWM just one of those positions. Backup striker if possible.That will do. The players don't have to be world class although Barkley might become one in the future.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 11:26:23
Where barkley would play? don't think we need him.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 15:45:10
Long term replacement for Fabregas.

4.) 30 Aug 2017 16:23:14
I believe hos best position is just behind the striker/ number 10 role and we don't play with number 10 we basically don't need him.

5.) 30 Aug 2017 16:32:31
He has played successfully as CM many times. Barkley is 23 but he has been a starter at Everton last 5 years ( maybe you haven't noticed) .

12 Aug 2017 17:01:41
Not going to post anything negative from the game whatsoever. Positives for me

Willian - worked tirelessly all game. Massive respect for him

Alonso - was at the front of all our worth while chances. Really cannot fault him

Morata - showed some deadly sign's of what he can't do. A must start from now on!

Rudiger - not a world class performance but look solid enough for the most part.

1.) 12 Aug 2017 17:26:14
Nobody is having a go at the team tbf it's the board there mad about. Morata was sensational and as you said the teams performance in the 2nd half was great but the team wasn't ready for the new season. Squad wasn't good or big enough and now we have more suspensions. This is a massive week for us in the market now.

12 Aug 2017 10:38:51
Just listened to the sharkapod Ed, every eclectic taste in music I must say 😂 Much appreciated the valuable information as always mate. I'm sure you'll be in your Chelsea shirt today, feet up on the sofa beer in hand watching us trounce Burnley 😜.

{Ed002's Note - I have of couse never owned a Chelsea shirt. Chelsea boots on occasion.}

1.) 12 Aug 2017 13:05:49
I have a spare one hear Ed if you want it 😬.

some of you are saying spend 100+ million on a 19 year old, it's worth it. the problem is he 19! and no experience in the premier league. yeah he's been good but he is no better than CHO imo. Zaha may not be world class but he is a very good player with plenty of experience and still young. and as someone said he is an upgrade on pedro. he can play down the middle also.

Rudi and Tomori all day long. I really really wanted Zouma to be excellent but his positional awareness and, at times clumsiness has cost us goals. he was completely at fault for Evertons first goal on Saturday.

I certainly do. I used to go to the bridge with my dad and brother in the early 90s up until the now (not so much now as I live abroad) my whole family are Chelsea supports. my cousin actually coaches the children (not sure what age group but around 8 or 9 i think.
