If the figures for Sancho are anywhere near accurate, steer well clear. No player at any age is worth what is being banded about.

1.) 30 Mar 2020 16:58:22
If Ronaldo or Messi at 21 had been the same asking price as Sancho, would it have been a good buy?

2.) 30 Mar 2020 19:46:05
No because no player is worth the obscene figures being spent. £400k a week, £120m+ salary. It has big monet flop plastered all over it.

3.) 30 Mar 2020 21:00:41
I think the question that you might want to ask yourself is- if Sancho was your player, would you demand for such a fee? I think someone (the supplier or the 'demander') might have to soft-pedal at some point. If Sancho is so good that he can take Chelsea to the next level (Eldorado), then we should buy him cos there are no good cheap players anymore.

4.) 30 Mar 2020 21:59:51
No good cheap players anymore? Not sure how you've come to that conclusion.

5.) 31 Mar 2020 16:50:00
Yes, every good player in the market is expensive.

6.) 01 Apr 2020 12:14:32
With exception to high agent fees or a weekly wage of £400,000/ week (if true), I don't think €110m (£99m) - as quoted by Fabrizio Romano is too much for a young player that has shown promise like Sancho.

7.) 01 Apr 2020 12:46:19
i think for his age an talent hed be worth a gamble i no u mite laugh when i call it a gamble for the price but he's a gem.

8.) 03 Apr 2020 04:58:05
I have a hard time stating that any hypothetical number would be egregious when it comes to a 20 year old player who is already elite.

Ed002- a couple of names that keep popping up.
Moussa Dembele- seems to be the new no. 1 striker target. Do you think we can get a deal done early, considering interest from elsewhere?
Alex Telles- Portuguese media seem convinced we are about to sign him. Does this have any truth, or just speculation?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about both previously. Dembele is a player Chelsea has considered amongst others. Telles remains of interest if a LB is needed.}

1.) 21 Mar 2020 17:42:27
Would perhaps be good to keep this in one thread.

I also have a question, but not necessarily transfer related. It's about Ethan Ampadu. Would surprise me if you know this, Ed002, but no harm in asking I suppose.
Do you know how the club view his season on loan at Leipzig? Everyone knew it was a challenging loan destination from the start, but working with top class players and under one of the best up and coming coaches in football is also beneficial for a young guy like Ampadu. Sadly he hasn't gotten much time on the pitch for them, which I suppose is understandable as Leipzig have got some top players, especially at CB with Upamecano there.
Basically what I'm asking here is, do you know whether Chelsea are disappointed with how his season went, and would thus look to send him back on loan next season? Finally getting him some consistent time on the pitch wouldn't be a bad thing of course, but the few occasions he does get to start I've always gotten the impression that he's simply ready to feature for Chelsea as well.

Massive thanks also for answering questions on specific targets too. I'm sure we'll see many of the popularly mentioned targets pop up on here, e. g. Onana, Sancho, Dembele.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody will be disappointed - but they would have preferred more game time.}

2.) 21 Mar 2020 18:08:26
Well I'm already happy that they wouldn't be disappointed. That'd be bad.

Cheers, Ed. Hoping to see both Ampadu and Gallagher back at Chelsea next season.

{Ed002's Note - We'll see.}

3.) 21 Mar 2020 18:40:43
Of course we do have quite a few mids already in the first team squad. Jorgi, Kante, Barkley, Mount, Kovacic, Ruben and now Gilmour who's shown he definitely belongs there.

We'll see indeed.

4.) 21 Mar 2020 19:02:05
Thanks Ed002. One other question I had- you mentioned Kenedy might be purchased by Getafe and sold on potentially. Does this still seem likely?

{Ed002's Note - That is the plan.}

21 Mar 2020 12:49:06
Ed002, any chance of that transfer update? Thanks in advance and no worries if not, hope you are keeping well.

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - For now I will answer any specific questions about players.}

1.) 24 Mar 2020 00:16:57
Do you know if Pedro likes anchovies on his pizza.

A massive thanks again to Ed002 for putting up with my, and others silly questions this window. I hope you have a bottle of something good lined up later.

Interesting that Ed002 said on the Liverpool page that 5 teams in the Premier League are happy to void the season. I believe 70% is needed, so another 12 need to commit.

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - You need to think about your math.}

1.) 28 Mar 2020 07:52:17
Indeed I do! I blame the Southern Comfort! Only another 9 needed- do you think it'll end up being voided Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - The intent is that they will try but there is a meeting on Friday where dates will be discussed and they might slip the start to June 1, or they might draw a line across.}

2.) 28 Mar 2020 09:13:40
Thanks Ed002. Hope you have a bottle of something good for isolation!

{Ed002's Note - There are cupboards full of booze fortunately. Thanks.}

3.) 28 Mar 2020 13:31:19
Should be voided. Peoples lives are far more important than football no matter what.

Today's refereeing farce aside, I thought Mount and Giroud were immense. The former battled, scrapped and fought for everything, and should have had at least one assist. The latter is a consummate professional, a big game player and we will really regret not using him more in Tammy's absence. I would start him Tuesday as Tammy didn't look sharp off the bench. Great to see RLC back too.
P. S. Alonso now has more goals in London derbies than Thierry Henry!

Just to add to this, I thought that the game was win in the midfield.

For me, kova was a machine today. Fantastic.

30 Jan 2020 23:45:06
Ed002, still think we'll get anyone in or has the ship sailed?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - Sure.}

30 Jan 2020 21:16:35
Ed002, not necessarily just Chelsea but any shock names that look like they could be on the move tomorrow?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - Absolutely.}

29 Jan 2020 17:40:01
Ed002, I asked you Monday and you said yes. Still standing by us making a signing before the deadline?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - That is the attention of the club.}

1.) 29 Jan 2020 18:43:06
Thanks Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Ed002, are Real already looking at putting a package in place for Haaland?

{Ed002's Note - Yes. They are.}

I hope not after his comments about his time at Chelsea. Looks average in a terrible West Ham midfield. If we wanted to take a punt on a defensive midfielder, I'd rather we just went for Doucoure if Watford go down.

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has no intentions about "taking a punt" on Decoure.}

Understandable Ed001. My favourite situation was Ben Yedder going on French Sky TV live a few years ago and calling a journalist out for making up transfer rumours!

RJ28P

{Ed001's Note - more players should do it, but most of them haven't a clue what is going on either. I remember speaking to one former Liverpool player and saying to him he must be gutted to be leaving (as he was a Liverpool fan). He had no idea what I was on about, so phoned his agent to ask if it was true and his agent told him to get in the car and drive down to do a medical as the clubs had agreed a deal.}

I believe Ed001 has never recovered from Franck Ribery Deadline Day 2007!

RJ28P

{Ed001's Note - I never have liked Ribery, it was before then. That was why I set up the original site in the first place back in 2001.}
