Ed002, I appreciate you may not be willing due to the potential grief, but I noticed on the United page you responded to someone regarding targets and said some names you would go for in the key positions if you were in charge. Would you be willing to do that for Chelsea?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, no.}

1.) 08 Jun 2022 17:07:40
That's okay Ed002, totally understand.

07 Jun 2022 22:35:12
Ed002, is it possible Chelsea could look to swap Bastoni for Lukaku?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn’t think so.}

1.) 07 Jun 2022 23:58:27
Damn, his been a really bad bad transfer for us. The quicker he leaves, the better.

31 May 2022 12:07:19
Ed002, appreciate the answer may be no, but given the apparent financial issue at Barcelona, is it possible we may make another proposal to Kessié?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - No, he is moving to Barcelona.}

1.) 31 May 2022 12:21:51
Appreciate this might be more for the Barcelona page but would you be able to summarise their financial situation Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to Chelsea.}

30 May 2022 08:22:51
Ed002, do we retain interest in Lucas Gourna-Douath and Adil Aouchiche? Presumably they both might be available with Saint Etienne's relegation now confirmed?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - LG-D signed a new contract last summer ending interest of Chelsea, although interest remains from elsewhere. Adil Aouchiche's agent is looking for options for him.}

26 May 2022 15:06:46
Ed002, do we retain interest in Ousmane Dembele or has that ship sailed?

RJ28P

{Ed002's Note - No, his future is pretty clear.}

1.) 26 May 2022 20:36:19
So. We have no interest in him anymore?

2.) 27 May 2022 01:08:36
Dude he’s clearly said no.

3.) 27 May 2022 12:50:55
Thank God we don't have an interest in him.

No chance Juventus accept that De Ligt swap deal of €40m and Werner.

RJ28P

1.) 25 Jun 2022 19:03:07
Maybe €90mil and Werner!

15 Jun 2022 22:47:28
Have to say I worry increasingly Tuchel will walk towards start of the season. He made it clear he wanted efficient business and a squad finalised before the start of pre-season. Now one key target has gone elsewhere; another seems likely too. We expect to lose 3, maybe 4 central defenders, a left-back, a midfielder, two attackers and a striker. This is already on top of needing midfield and wingback cover.
Have to say it, I would not blame Tuchel for walking out.

RJ28P

1.) 15 Jun 2022 23:18:04
FGS. The window has only just opened. Of course it would be nice if all our business was done by tomorrow but we have to be realistic.

We will sign several new players in this window and then the moans will be they are the wrong players or not good enough for Chelsea.

The idea of TT walking out after a few days of the window opening is in my opinion just crazy.

2.) 15 Jun 2022 23:45:00
Yes Tom it looks like Kounde heading to Barca. How? Search me.

3.) 16 Jun 2022 09:39:14
Tom, we have been close to Koundé for a year and penny-pinching has prevented a deal. Tuchel has walked out on clubs before. He made it clear - deals done early. So far, no evidence of it.
I'll call it now, we won't sign any 1st team player before August.

4.) 16 Jun 2022 12:10:37
My guess is you have no idea if the club has been, using your phrase, “penny pinching”.

There are lots of moving parts in any transfer including the players wishes.

We are not privy to the negotiations and as much as I would like him to come and play for the World Club Champions, we can’t make him.

If TT wants to leave and I very much doubt then so be it. Life goes on.

We could sign five players in the next ten days and that won’t make some fans happy.

Just enjoy the good weather and Ascot.

5.) 16 Jun 2022 12:54:46
Tom, we should have been at our most attractive last summer and we squandered it. It was a chance to get Haaland, Koundé and Tchouameni - spine done for years.
Haaland, I can accept the cost issue.
Koundé and Tchouameni, there are no excuses.
At the same time, we sold 4 excellent young players. 2 CBs, a RWB and a Striker. All of which now would walk into our side.
We know Koundé wanted to join - we sat and quibbled over several million and now Barcelona have sold him their project.
Like I said, would not be surprised if we kick off at Everton with 0 new signings and Tuchel gone by September. I hope I am wrong but this club never learns.
Incidentally, the last window we went in quick and got deals done was Summer 2014. We walked the league.

6.) 16 Jun 2022 14:39:44
How about this as an excuse. There parent clubs didn’t want to sell. It happens.

I want all our signings at the training ground day one of pre-season. It makes little difference if they are signed before that date.

7.) 17 Jun 2022 01:52:21
Who said we quibbled over a few million? Did Chelsea or Sevilla come out and say it? The players agent? No. It’s newspapers ? the same newspapers who link clubs to every Tom dick and Harry to get clicks and make money.

It’s been pretty much exactly 2 weeks since the takeover was fully completed. You’ve said you want to hold Boehly and the consortium to their word about data led signings etc, surely they need time to run through our previous targets to see whether they fit into this new policy, or did you just expect them to come in, slam a suit case of £200m on the table and tell Marina to go out and buy whoever Tuchel wants ?.

8.) 17 Jun 2022 09:15:29
Sevilla said it last summer. Monchi specifically, if you really want to know.
For sure I want data to drive recruitment in the longer term as every bit of data told you Lukaku was a recipe for disaster in our system. But this window, we do not have time for that. Players return for pre-season two weeks Monday. This needed to be a window where they came in, backed Tuchel immediately and showed thanks for him for navigating us through the biggest crisis our club has had since 2003.
Instead so far, it has been silence. I said it elsewhere and I await to be proven wrong: we won't sign a single 1st team player by the first pre-season friendly, or even by August.

9.) 17 Jun 2022 11:35:03
RJ, we will sign players over the next couple of weeks. I await to be proven wrong.

23 May 2022 22:30:50
Takeover hopefully done by Wednesday. Thank goodness.

1.) 24 May 2022 12:42:39
Yes will be a huge relief to all of us

19 Apr 2022 21:11:50
Ed002, do Real Madrid still want Reece James, and if yes, are Chelsea considering selling him?

RJ28P

1.) 20 Apr 2022 05:35:05
I really hope not but also would expect James and Mount to be the Chelsea players least likely to leave of them all. Proper Chels.

2.) 20 Apr 2022 11:00:11
I hope Real Madrid can sign Reece James for £500 million as Chelsea have no clue of what to do with him.

3.) 20 Apr 2022 14:42:51
What are you talking about obinna?!

4.) 20 Apr 2022 19:15:57
Steve_B; calm down, I am surprised you don’t you catch my drift? Who will pay £500 million for a player, it’s impossible, it’s just a way of saying that he’s priceless to Chelsea or not for sale.

I’m not surprised that the Todd “B” bid is now looking favourite to be our new owner.

Well financed and would have a very highly regarded noble lord as a NED who is also a long standing season ticket holder.

Very acceptable to all the interested parties I would have thought.

As fans, we will judge the new owner over many seasons not just the bidding process.

5.) 25 Mar 2022 10:05:27
The Beuhly bid has looked promising Tom, and seemingly well thought through. Hopefully better CFC and financial minds than mine - plus Raine/ UK govt - will make the right decision and will get our club swiftly back on great path forwards asap. (and recall that Beuhly bid seemed readier to purchase quickly than some others) .

Agree that judgment on new owners can only come over time, though would hope we would get some indication of their intentions reasonably soon.

Exactly my point Matt, every club that negotiates with us now just waits for us to roll over and have our tummy tickled when buying our players; and just sells elsewhere when we mess around trying to quibble over buying prices. I hope fans will realise that when tonight Barcelona announce that agreement for Koundé.
Studley, I am massive fan of the youth. Selling Abraham, Tomori, Guehi and Livramento in one summer was always going to be a shambles in the longer term. Chickens have come home to roost quickly. I'd love to say adding 3 or 4 loanees to the squad massively boosts us.
However I am also a realist. Broja's good but he's not a 25+ goal striker. Colwill has high potential, but he isn't Rüdiger. Gilmour has promise but doesn't stand up to Kanté or Jorginho. Ampadu had a good season for a poor Venezia side. The only one that clearly is ready is Gallagher.
The promise from the new owners was a significant summer budget to refresh the squad, with several key signings, a blend of youth and data-led recruitment. That is what I will be holding them to.
Sangaré apparently has a €30m release clause. If he is good enough - pay it and get it done. Jesus or Sterling costs £50m? If the manager wants him, pay up and sort it. Same with a contract for Dembele - back the manager and buy players he wants, for his style and his system. Not vanity signings like Lukaku.
We still have all these players to sell too: Emerson, Barkley, Bakayoko, Kenedy, Batshuayi, Baba, Miazga.
And that isn't even considering that any combo of, or all 3 of Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic might go; Lukaku is gone; Jorginho wants to go and Kantè is considering his options; Alonso wants to go; Kepa wants to go and Azpilicueta wants to go.
I am all for being optimistic. I am not going to be blindly positive for the sake of it.

Studley, with respect, I have a right to voice my views. I did it a year ago and it turned into everyone just having a dig at me. Look back and you will see what I said was 100% spot on.
Answer me this: what is there positive at the moment RE: our transfer business? 2 weeks till our first friendly. Tick tock.

They are about to have a huge wedge of cash by selling economic rights.
The new owners needed to come in big and convince people they are right for the job. A quick quality marquee signing like Koundé would have announced it to everyone and made people sit up and take notice. Instead we are watching United negotiate for De Jong, Spurs sign Bissouma, Spence, Perisic and possibly Richarlison, City sign Haaland and bid for Cucurella and Phillips and Liverpool sign Nunez. All the while our first choice midfielder has gone elsewhere and our first choice central defender is going elsewhere. People will call me negative but I was right last summer about it being bad business.

I'm going to break my imposed exile to say this: Nizaar Kinsella hasn't got a clue. Has reported we've agreed fees for Koundé at least twice and was miles off on the takeover and numerous other stories. He's a United fan as well so whenever possible he puts a negative spin on things.
Truth is, journalists know very little about what we are doing this summer as the ownership has changed hands. Most 'inside sources' won't be privy to that information.
And no Ed002, he didn't mention Eddie Beach, assuming you are referring to him.

Fed up of the response to all my posts just being personal attacks because I have a different view.
Absolutely no point in me responding any further.
I'll see you all for the pre-season game in July with Koundé, Dembele and the new barrage of signings that everyone is promising with no evidence.

G8, I have no doubt they worked hard to get the sale done. Their jobs and livelihoods were at risk. Buck and Marina are collecting £50m for it.
If you are happy to sit and watch us perrenially battle for the Top 4 - so be it. I am not. I want to see us win. Look at City - they walked the league and still they are investing in a world class striker, a top left-back, midfield cover and a versatile attacker. Liverpool have added two top talents and a very good young attacker. Spurs are backing Conte with players he wants - we know what that leads to.
When was the last time we had a title challenge that was credible by February? The last year we backed a manager properly and got his targets in.
If we lose out on Jules Koundé, it is an utter disgrace. We have 1 year to sort this deal out. Barcelona have been in a financial sham for that time and yet still they have managed to get a deal done faster. Tuchel named Koundé in a press conference - it is clear he is a key target. Like I said elsewhere, will not be shocked if this leads to Tuchel leaving.
Until the entire board and scouting structure gets overhauled, we will continue to lose out on the top talent and we will slide into mediocrity. Don't believe me: look at United.
