No Chelsea rumours though, Ed033, right?

Ed did say a few things in there, which was related to Chelsea, however he didn't mention any names. I believe I deducted that Morata was no longer of interest for Milan as they've gotten Luis Muriel, that Napoli had contacted Chelsea about a right winger and that that might happen (Zappacosta, I would think), that PSG had spoken to Chelsea about a defensive (or was it central, don't remember) midfielder, but that be expensive (one could fear that might be Kante), that Real Madrid had spoken to Chelsea about a left back but nothing's going to come out of that and the player is happy, and lastly, I believe he said that Roma had spoken to Chelsea about a striker - one could hope that would be Morata, but I fear it might be Michy, who I'd be much more willing to give a go in the team than Morata.
Also he said something interesting about Icardi. Apparently he's been offered to Juventus, who then declined. He then said that Nike had been talking to a team about a deal - didn't mention which team, but one is allowed to dream it might be us and that something could be done. Would certainly bring changes to the way Ed01 has described today, that defenders don't really care that much about our strikers, since they're no real threat.
Oh, he also said that Milan had been talking to Chelsea about a central midfielder who is heading elsewhere - suppose that would be Fabregas. Also some Italian sides had contacted Cahill, who wasn't interested in those moves.

{Ed001's Note - Real Madrid left-back bit was regarding Alonso, I know that much for definite.}

Thanks Ed001 and EmilSC.

Although Zappacosta is not a winger, so could it be someone else?

Oh sorry, I meant wing back - that what we call full backs in Denmark, where I'm from, guess I just had a brain fart ;)

The atmosphere at the ground was AGAIN very poor.

Luiz and Kante played very well and Morata was unlucky with the disallowed goal and his hold up play and effort should be appreciated, for a change.

The fans were I sit in the Shed upper are not far away from turning on Sarri and I find that bonkers.

Sarri, as I understand it was hired to get the team playing more adventurous football and he made it clear that it would take time.

Barkley is not playing well at the moment. He looks scared to take a risk.

I'm still not sure how to judge RLC and his performances!

I can't remember the going to two home games on the spin and seeing us NOT score and create so few clear chances.

Not to worry, still got an interest in all the competition.

Come on my MIGHTY BLUES.

Tom it's disgusting to know there are fans already turning on Sarri. There are plenty on here too and many more on twitter. No patience these days in football, instant results is called for time and time again. Life doesn't work like that, in football you learn, this process will take time. Sarri is dealing with multiple injuries at present too.

With the Roman era we attracted a new fan base that are embarrassing to say the least. Downside of our success. Sarri has only been in charge 4 months or so, he hasn't had the opportunity to build his team yet. It's clear that he needs some help in January. Now give him a chance to succeed.

Yes today was frustrating, we all know the last few games we have struggled. However this wasn't the case at the start of the season when we were unbeaten for 12. People forget good times so easily.

It’s incredible the negativity. Granted I didn’t watch the game, I can imagine how it went. What people don’t understand is we currently have players playing in a system which is equivalent to square pegs in round holes these pegs can be rounded but it’ll take time. Watch a Napoli game last year and tell me sarriball is boring and creates no chances.

I do understand where these negative comments are coming from but honestly, watch a Napoli game from last year. That’s the level we will hopefully get too. And remember city didn’t have the best of times their first season, AND their team were somewhat suited to possession football.

Positivity lads, the negativity after a poor performance is ridiculous.

Atmosphere there was pretty dead today and has been for a few games recently. Quite a few boos where I was sat (whole ground too) at full time but was good so see Cesc get a good reception at the end from those that stayed.

that new fan base pay the same money and earn it just like you so they are allowed to express there feelings how ever they want let that be it in a week of a new manger or 5yrs. don't no who some of you people think you are, what injuries pedro moses giroud really! I think sarri requires time but let's be honest the football of late has been terrible to view weather that be we haven't the right players or the system or the players are just not getting it. we require a striker 100% let's just hope for a top 5 finish.

Agree4 Disagree1

03 Jan 2019 07:55:38
Ok Nibby. if you want instant success then unfortunately it won't be at Chelsea mate. Instant success with a new manager doesn't work like you suggest. Not even the great Pep Guardiola got it right in his first season. You and many others are in a bit of a situation aren't you. holding out for for a top 5 finish is overly ambitious, ridicilous comment. It just shows your positively.

Injuries to Pedro and Giroud have been contributing factor. I rate Pedro as a very good squad player and he would normally make the first 11.

Don't you guys get fed up of the negative crap which isn't even balanced on here? Balanced read is fair enough but most the crap is spineless stuff. Once the tide turns it will be same gang that will praise Sarri and drool over his football.

CFCShak I certainly get fed up with the knee-jerk negativity but also think it's fine for CFC supporters - and I'm old and have been one donkey's years before Roman era - to express genuine concern about our frailties but should not be slagging off a player/ manager one week or on basis of one or two matches then singing praises some time later. I think that overall we've played far more attractive football this season under Sarri than last season, and Sarri must be given time to improve the squad further so that it can get results more consistently than in last four weeks, with striker and winger support key areas here. But our squad right now looks thin compared to other top six sides (and we still have to play four of five away from home) . Our only attacking option off the bench last night was RLC, who showed his quality at times and at least got the crowdshouting Reuben, Reuben on a generally too quiet evening (many tourists there, necessary perhaps as product of our global support but doesn't help atmosphere! ) . Yes, I joined the applause at Matthhew Harding end for Cesc who produced one wonderful pass that should have produced a goal, and several other glimpses of his quality. Unless we're getting in some reinforcements in this busy January can we afford to lose him now I wondered. We should have won, needed to win, so hard not to feel down at end of the game however fully you support the team. And then I learnt afterwards that Morata's goal should have stood (couldn't tell from where I was) . So am still feeling pretty grumpy this morning. Oh well, will be back for the Newcastle game hoping we'll score at least (and that it will be allowed)!

Nicely said JBS. Nice read. I echo it was a must win game and I understand the frustration by some fans but there is no point slating the manager and making mockery of Sarri ball within 4 months. It's frustrating. When Chelsea turn the tide it will be the same lot singing his praise.

I felt the same with Morata's goal which was ruled for offside. When things aren't going your way or when the team isn't able to break down defensive units you need a bit of luck. It was a perfect goal.

CFCShak, 'instant success with a new manager doesn't work' - tell that to Mourinho (twice), Conte, Hiddink and Ancelotti!

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jan 2019 18:18:05
Nibby, saying a player is fine but just try a bit of constructive criticism for a change!

MDW, sure some managers have won pots in their first season but in my view the constant manager changes has cost the club Money and meant we have lost time while we have a fantastic owner to build something unique.

We have invested fortunes in a youth academy but it has not helped wth giving us an identity.

This is also not helped by us fans craving instant success.

I thought we were hard done by the offside again. Very frustrating. These decisions are not going our way.

It was offside - just as both of Giroud's were offside - they were all close but rightly called as offside.

Today's offisde goal one was a goal. It's even worse when you see it on slow motion. We have had 3 offside calls in the last 2 games and we got not nothing.

VAR is needed big time, I understand we weren't good enough tonight but is competent officiating too much to ask for?

We have slipped back to the side to side passing in front of a packed defence, increased our possession of the ball but still have no penetration. If we keep this up there is no incentive for Hazard to stay as he is almost a one man forward line/ strike force. We need a striker and some goals from midfield or it will be a bitter fight to the end to hang on to fourth place.

Agree1 Disagree3

02 Jan 2019 21:45:38
Very slow in transition, a lot of side to side passing. Tbh our full backs don't help either. Neither of them make space by using the width of the pitch. It's almost like they stop after three thirds of the pitch. Dissapointed with the draw.

You blue tinted glass brigade just cannot accept reality, we are playing keep ball end of story and it will drive our one star player out of the club. You clearly set a very low bar for Chelsea FC if you can find a great deal from our recent performances and the crowd does not lie, they are getting dissatisfied with our play. What's with all the Sarriball? We keep the ball for 70% of the game in front of a packed defence, we did that in Mourinho's and Conte's day, there is no penetration, no chance currently of a hat full of goals from midfield. Yes, we need to have patience with Sarri but we haven't with plenty of managers and he will be no exception. This is a forum for opinions good, bad and downright ugly and hopefully all supporters will offer theirs regardless of what sector it falls in. If we all commented like G8 the site would die within a month. Chelsea are the greatest team to support but are not the greatest team to watch currently.

Is the pulisic signing supposed to be a replacement for hazard or hudson odoi?

Also are pulisics comments “I would not be where I am without BVB and their belief in giving young players a chance. " a dig at chelsea and their treatment of young players?

Hi Ed’s, any news on why we loaned Pulisic back to Dortmund? Was it a sweetener for Dortmund to make sure the deal went through or was it the players decision? I’m happy with the signing but I feel like we could really do with him now. Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2019 14:23:33
I’d assume a mix between us having too many wingers at the same level already, and Dortmund not wanting to replace Pulisic till summer. Never seen him play myself so I’m reserving judgment on him. Hope he’s a big player :)

57 million for Pulisic when Fekir is available. Wow we've gone mad. I'll obviously back him but I'm not confident we're heading in the right direction.

Maybe both Frank. Haha.

Anyway, the window has only just opened and I’m sure at least one more player will be signed.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 10:13:20
I fully expect a couple of more signings. Would love Fekir and i wouldn't rule him out just because we signed Pulisic. Fekir can play across the front 3 and as the LCM. Feel Pulisic is a signing to get ready when we offload Pedro and Willian. We'll definitely sign a ST at least, board knows we need help up top now and Pulisic obviously isn't coming until the summer so it doesn't help much.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 12:48:47
Doesnt Fekir have injury issues?

The tragedy is that both of them would prefer to go to Liverpool - that, more than anything, shows we are heading in the wrong direction.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 12:52:56
I actually think it's a fine signing. Think he'll fit in very well, and he's definately one for the future. Sure, it's expensive, but - without knowing anything, and this might just be my imagination - but I suppose it'll be an excellent signing in regards to appealing to American fans and sponsors, so I suppose it might be a smart economical decision in that regard.

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 13:03:27
MDW. He is a good player and he is joining Chelsea. Why on earth bring up Liverpool FC and attach it to the comment “shows we are heading in the wrong direction”.

WHO CARES what he MAY have preferred? He is joining THE MIGHTY BLUES.

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 13:25:48
Exactly, plus you can't say without a credible source that he wanted to join Liverpool barring Twitter and newspaper crap. He will be regarded as the hazard replacement by ALL until the latter signs a new contract

Hazard, Pulisic, CHO, Pedro and Willian warrants enough quality in the winger positions. Obviously Fekir would be great but probably would mean the end of CHO. Unless the kid really want a to fight for his spot.
