Another new signing! The boy Felix has clearly got talent, let’s hope he can tie it altogether here.
The focus of the club really needs to be on outgoings now, which I’m sure it already is. Who are most likely to get their move before September starts Ed002? I worry that the Sterling issue could drag on. Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - There are around 10 to go.}
1.) 20 Aug 2024 09:17:44
I don’t trust this Maresca or the owners. This isn’t going to work. Upsetting too many players already.
2.) 22 Aug 2024 07:08:41
Maresca has done what Potter should have, but chose (or was told at the time) not to do, and that is evaluate who you want, work with your preferred squad and the others train apart and are told that they will have very limited minutes (if any) and to maybe look at options if they wish to further their careers. I admire Maresca's honesty and the way it was conveyed which thwarted the Sterling situation (he knew 2 days before he wasn't in the match day squad yet he and his management still chose to release a match day statement) . Bogard #2 maybe, shame it might happen to us twice, but in 10 years it'll be Raheem who? It's not about money, Sterling is very comfortable, its about being "the man" and you ain't it!
Your head down, not looking, burrowing, with only yourself in mind is not where our club wasn't to be, and tbf England as well!

Hi Ed002 - is it likely that Chalobah will stay with the club this upcoming window? He's been really impressive coming into the team since being fit and it would be a shame if he goes.
{Ed002's Note - Trevoh Chalobah (CB/DM) – Bayern Munich, Napoli, Crystal Palace and Roma remain very keen. There has also been a discussion with Milan with an extrordinary part exchange offer made. Player wants to leave for more game time and I suspect he will be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in. Something may be worked out with Crystal Palace. Spurs interest has gone for now. West Ham and Nottingham Forest may offer wildcard solutions. Manchester United had an offer rejected last summer but could return but I expect the coach to be gone by this summer, and interest may depart with that although being Home Grown makes him attractive. Atletico Madrid and Bayern are in discussions and have asked about his fitness. Will likely leave in the summer regardless of long-term contract but if he gets a guarantee of game time he may well stay.}
1.) 16 May 2024 23:49:47
He's a starter now so I'm sure there's been an update.
2.) 16 May 2024 23:57:46
Can we ask of the Milan exchange, hoping he stays, been brilliant, a silver lining would be maignan or Leao part of any deal,
Appreciate the info Ed.
3.) 17 May 2024 02:36:12
If club are linked to cb’s all summer he may think he will be pegged back in pecking order, so he’d want assurances.
4.) 17 May 2024 00:00:22
Would it be possible to enquire who was on the other end of the part exchange offer with Milan? Completely understand if not and appreciate your wisdom as ever!
{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}
5.) 17 May 2024 02:04:05
We got disaai and fofana rerurning next seaaon and are looking to buy a cb so i don't see how he can be guaranteed gametime unless someone is leaving? Ed002 any interest in disasi or fofana and any chance of them leaving? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Silva is leaving.}
6.) 17 May 2024 00:39:52
who was the player Milan wanted to exchange?
is Pulisic coming back?
{Ed002's Note - No.}
7.) 17 May 2024 10:11:34
Fofana is a headless chicken might aswell get rid. Can’t believe we paid so much for him.
8.) 17 May 2024 11:36:26
BLUEBOY, we can’t get “rid” of him because he has been injured all season and I haven’t seen enough of him as a Chelsea player to decide if he is good enough for our club.
9.) 17 May 2024 12:10:07
Quality defender when properly fit just never is.
06 May 2024 23:30:04
Ed002, I noticed you said previously the club and player would perhaps be open to reuniting Olise with his brother. Do you see the move as realistic this summer or is he more likely to head elsewhere?
{Ed002's Note - He will move elsewhere.}
1.) 07 May 2024 09:24:03
Damn, that's a big shame. Probably United then, which will be a fantastic addition for them. On par with Saka and Sarah as the best attackers in the PL. He walks into damn near every starting XI in the world. Really wish we could've gotten him last summer.
2.) 07 May 2024 10:43:28
I'm sure if we had gotten him Palmer wouldn't be here today so I'll settle with what we have.
3.) 07 May 2024 14:32:44
City bound.
4.) 07 May 2024 14:57:02
I think Utd are favourites to sign him.
31 Aug 2023 20:46:20
Hi Ed002, would you anticipate a move for Gallagher by the deadline?
{Ed002's Note - Perhaps - there are a number of interested sides.}
1.) 01 Sep 2023 00:49:51
Absolutely senseless by the club if they sell Gallagher.
01 Mar 2023 09:38:26
Hi Ed002, do you know if there have been any developments with Mount's contract? Do you expect it to be resolved? I fear we'd be making a massive mistake if this is not sorted.
{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in contracts but Mount has made totally unreasonable demands and has resisted signing a new contract.}
1.) 01 Mar 2023 10:10:43
I think he has got to big for his boots personally and I suspect people agents whoever have filled his head with nonsense
He's a good player but he isn't great tough one for the board.
2.) 01 Mar 2023 11:17:19
I do too gola, If he signed a reasonable contract fine but it’s been reported that if he doesn’t look to sign early on in summer we will sell rather than risk losing for free,
3.) 01 Mar 2023 11:26:33
Playing devils advocate partly because I rate Mount highly.
He is trying to get the best deal for himself like most employees.
I have no reason to doubt that his demands are at the moment excessive and like all employers the club are only willing to offer the amount they think he is worth to the club.
My guess is a compromise will be agreed but if not, the club will no doubt sell him to one of the many interested clubs.
4.) 01 Mar 2023 20:24:22
Mount has every right to go for what HE believes is reasonable to him
The question is that the club and Ed has reported they are totally unreasonable he's not even in the first 11
I'm going to be honest and say the reason I don't like mount is HE thinks he is Mr chelsea a club legend the fans favourite poster boy and in my eyes its a bit fake
And cringy just my opinion
Good footballer obviously but no better or worse than havertz who gets pelters on a hourly basis.
5.) 01 Mar 2023 21:32:13
gola, I guess that may come if it does come from him being at the club since he was a kid.
Always seems like an articulate nice lad to me.
I haven’t got a clue why he is having such a poor season this year. Maybe it is the contract negotiations.
Anyway, he will score two on Saturday.
6.) 01 Mar 2023 21:39:28
Lets gossip the best Chelsea academy player.
Mount is special if we have spend 200m£ for 2 players in development.
7.) 02 Mar 2023 08:12:51
Mount is a special. And we have spent 200m£ on 2 player in development. Mudryk and Enzo.
Should we keep our own Enzo?
8.) 02 Mar 2023 09:24:18
I don’t agree that Mount is special that’s part of the issue; he thinks he is. I agree with gola, Mount received a lot of praise, some of it deserved when he started out. Notwithstanding that he has been average at best for 18 months he, no doubt, fuelled by his agent, believes he is world class and indispensable at Chelsea. It doesn’t help that mediocre players like Sterling and PEA are on 300K a week. If he and the club can’t agree terms by the summer he should be sold rather than it linger on and he goes on a free.
9.) 02 Mar 2023 09:46:26
Jimbo, I have no idea what Mount thinks about himself and my guess is you haven’t got any idea about him as a person either.
He is entitled to try and get as much as he can as any employee would. His demands may well be unreasonable and therefore the club understandably will not agree to them. He seems like a nice enough young man to me!
If he doesn’t extend his contract, I guess he will be sold. I think there is already plenty of interest from clubs who may well see his demands as not being unreasonable.
It’s just what happens in football but I hope it doesn’t end up something we regret but it could just as easily be good business to sell him in the next window.
10.) 02 Mar 2023 09:47:27
The problem isn't Mount, it's what the club have paid other players as Jimbo says.
If I'm doing a better job (usually) than other people, I want to be paid the same. Can't blame him for that.
As for the "Mr Chelsea" shouts. Again, he's been told that by coaches, ex-players (JT, Lamps, Jody etc) all rating him highly and then the fans singing "He's one of our own" - Why wouldn't he think that?
Some Chelsea fans have very short memories. The bloke was our best player for 2 seasons running! We gave out stink when we let Mata go after doing the same. It's also not that long ago when the Mount/ Foden debate was raging on.
The hole team is in a kip. Very little for anyone to take positives from but for some reason, Mount is getting pelters from all sides. The guy isn't worth 300k, we can all agree there, but very few players are. In negotiations, you go in high and hope both parties meet at the point that both are happy. I don't mind him dragging his heels on a contract, and I also see him signing a new one.
11.) 02 Mar 2023 10:15:17
Well put jimbo that's basically what I was trying to say I think Sterling might come good rest of year though
Wishful thinking lol.
12.) 02 Mar 2023 10:24:08
dihanio, I agree with virtually everything in your post.
As fans we sometimes think we actually know the players personally.
13.) 02 Mar 2023 10:34:57
gola, I think Sterling and Mount will both start on Saturday for various reasons and I think (hope) they will both score.
14.) 02 Mar 2023 11:19:11
Ed002, have any of our other players made unreasonable contract demands recently?
{Ed002's Note - Not as far as I am aware.}

22 May 2024 20:53:28
The lack of experience McKenna and Maresca have, it really surprises me they’re seemingly the names leading the pack.
I get the club want a “young” manager but this is a tough job at the best of times, let alone with a big squad, lots of media pressure, and fans not overly happy with direction of travel. I’d much prefer a manager who’s been at a top division level for at least a few seasons. Furthermore, Europa (hopefully) is there for us to win. Some experience in Europe and training players for three games a week would be beneficial.
Would love to hear others thoughts on this.
1.) 22 May 2024 21:10:58
bandy, both the managers you mention have pre management experience with big clubs.
They have had success with respective clubs and both teams went through sticky patches of form and both managers found solutions to get there teams over the line and promotion.
Careers in the Prem have to start somewhere and Arteta as far as I can remember had no real management experience and he having been given time has got Champs league football for the gooners!
2.) 22 May 2024 21:59:24
Arteta was Pep's number 2 and surely learnt from the maestro plus was of course a fine player himself. But yes had no independent track record.
3.) 22 May 2024 23:25:06
JBS, we now have Kompany probably getting the gig at Bayern and he has no manger experience other than Burnley getting promoted and then relegated.
4.) 23 May 2024 01:55:51
Don’t really think we should be trusting whoever the rags say it’s going to be ? just a week or so ago they seemed to say we wanted Southgate.
5.) 23 May 2024 09:26:46
I think if you go for someone like Kompany you believe you are at minimum getting someone the players can look up to knowing they've been there and done that. You are also, as with Arteta, getting someone who has worked closely with Pep of course. But key for them is also to get the right assistance around them, badly needed by Frank when in charge at CFC and something the club offered him I believe.
But Bayern taking a bit of a gamble nonethelesss.
SArsenal were commendably patient with Arteta over quite some time when so many of their fans were baying for his blood. We don't seem to have that kind of patience at CFC.
22 May 2024 10:30:13
The news came as a massive surprise to me, as it felt like we were finally (finally! ) turning a corner. A new manager next season brings opportunity but also plenty of risk at a time when we can ill afford more failure.
What does the process from here look like Ed002? Will the club have a priority name in mind to try and agree a deal for? I know you previously mentioned they would turn to Amorim - is that still the case?
{Ed002's Note - The club have been speaking to representatives of coaches to see what interest they would have in taking to the job and that has led to a shortlist but their first choice is awaiting another job, and their second choice is of interest to two high profile clubs. So next a decision needs to be made to cut down the list further and look to making an offer.
Right now there are a number of other high profile clubs looking for new coaches as well - Bayern Munich, Milan, Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United - so it will be hard work.}
1.) 22 May 2024 11:41:23
Thanks for the info Ed002.
2.) 22 May 2024 12:31:48
Hi Ed
Would that first choice be Thiago Motta who is seemingly close to Juventus?
{Ed002's Note - No. Motta is moving to Juventus.}
3.) 22 May 2024 13:16:38
Is first choice De Zerbi?
{Ed002's Note - There is no point explaining as it will lead to the usual abuse.}
4.) 22 May 2024 14:28:31
Ed002 is stuttgart manager a option that would be willing to join?
{Ed002's Note - He is an option but not the prepared option.}
5.) 22 May 2024 15:15:13
I’d guess - alonso first choice and his
Waiting for Madrid
2nd choice, maybe Amorim, was heavily linked before poch,
Then there’s, de zerbi, Thomas Frank, stuttgart manager, McKenna all amongst those on the list, are we a more attractive job than those teams, United may have security under sir Jim, we’re being called a “ basketcase “ in media.
28 Mar 2024 13:30:37
Hi ED002. There's been increasing media coverage of the club's likelihood of breaking PSR rules for 23/ 24. I know you have mentioned there are no FFP problems previously, which was reassuring to hear. Do you still anticipate that the club will comply and to what extent will PSR regulations have on the likely transfer activity this summer?
{Ed002's Note - Chelsea will raise the money they need by June 30 - and largely it is already done.}
1.) 28 Mar 2024 14:27:57
Really good to hear. Thanks Ed.
2.) 28 Mar 2024 15:19:29
Hi Ed, glad to hear the club has more or less raised the necessary cash to appease the PSR. Thankyou very much for this information .
My question is has this money been gained through pre agreements of transfers out of the club or has it been achieved through new sponsorship deals . Be very interesting to know if the club are being forced into this so called “fire sale” of playing staff as some media outlets and certain members of this group would have us all believe or if the club had the situation all under control this whole time. Thankyou for any info in advance.
{Ed002's Note - There is no "fire sale" but players will be moving on.}
3.) 28 Mar 2024 15:32:35
Thankyou Ed, this is really great news .
4.) 28 Mar 2024 16:13:07
This is the reason I come on this site, factual information from the ED's. Thankyou ED02.
5.) 29 Mar 2024 00:33:04
Ed002, fantastic, thanks. It is extremely hard to get good info and I cannot lie I was worried but I'm reassured with that comment. I did believe we were in a position where we needed to sell players but doesn't sound a bad situation at all.
Thanks again and I guess I should trust the club more.
6.) 30 Mar 2024 22:29:42
Ed this can’t involve Reece James…surely?
20 Apr 2021 16:39:21
Hi Ed002 - I am sure you are a man of many powers, although predicting the future is not one. However, if you had to take an educated guess, what do you think is the most likely immediate conclusion to this Super League fiasco?
{Ed002's Note - Much depends on the various discussions going on this week. The UEFA Exec met yesterday, as did the Italian league, the Premier League met today and the traditional group of "elite" clubs meet tomorrow before the Spanish league on Thursday and the UEFA Exec again on Friday. There could be potentially catastrophic consequences for a couple of sides but others may back down - perhaps the Italian sides first. There would still be a long way to go and legal issues to resolve.}
1.) 20 Apr 2021 17:10:12
When you say potential catastrophic consequences what would they be and to whom ed
I just hope Chelsea do a uturn and rethink what there trying to do
I get the impression fsg and glaziers and perez are not going to back down at all.
{Ed002's Note - I am not getting in to any detail.}
2.) 20 Apr 2021 17:38:11
I do hope we do the right thing and withdraw from the ESL. Although Perez is stating there is a binding contract with the ESL, I wouldn’t be to worried about that: who is going to take us to Court? It would be a legal minefield as it can be argued that we have binding contracts with the PL and UEFA albeit not commercial ones and we have not received any money yet. Obviously no one outside the clubs have seen the contract but I would face them down and say:â€See you in courtâ€. Let’s be the first club to jump ship: accepting that you have made a mistake is not a sign of weakness and would be applauded by the supporters.
3.) 20 Apr 2021 18:23:26
Bayern Munich have stated they have no intention of joining ESP, not much of a Super League then.
27 Jul 2020 12:14:01
Hi Ed002,
If Willian were to sign a new contract extension, do you see that impacting outgoings for attackers at all (either permanent or loan)?
The full list of options could be Giroud, Werner, Abraham, Pulisic, Willian, Loftus Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech and, potentially, Havertz - competitive, yes, but it may be hard to give everyone enough minutes.
{Ed002's Note - Arriving players are only replacing departing players - the size and structure of the squad will not change, just some of the names. So Pedro will be replaced by Ziyech, etc.}
1.) 27 Jul 2020 13:02:37
Makes a lot of sense for me Ed002 as you said Werner would be replacing Michy, but who would Havertz be replacing, do you know?! Or is nothing decided at this time.
I imagine if we get any defenders a Cb/ lb may well be sold. I think things aren’t so clear in the middle of the park cause Lamps seemed to give everyone a chance. I’m obviously happy with the Havertz links as we do need an upgrade in the creative department and if I were to guess I’d say Barkley or Jorginho or evening both may leave.
Thank you for your hard work all through the season and your time as the window is now on the way.
{Ed002's Note - Ross Barkley is available.}
2.) 27 Jul 2020 18:07:39
Ed002 if juve do get jrginho who do chelsea have lined up to replace him seeing as tonali is looking unlikely? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Chelsea would not look to replace him. If Kante were also to move that would be different.}
3.) 27 Jul 2020 19:29:37
If Chelsea would not look to replace Jorginho if he leaves, I think it’s better he stays.
4.) 27 Jul 2020 20:04:05
I think we should keep Jorginho to be honest. Look at what a difference he made against Palace. Yes he isn't the most athletic player on the pitch. But when trying to see a game out, what a player to bring on with 30 mins to go.
Reading through the previous posts, I believe if any 2 CM's (from this seasons squad) are to be sold, it will be Barkley and RLC. Replaced by (fingers and toes crossed) Havertz. Would love to see Callaghar integrated next term and rotated with Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho as the CM"s.
Gilmour has bags of potential, but needs a solid run in a team to develop physically. Hopefully in the EPL.
5.) 27 Jul 2020 21:17:45
have trouble selling Rlc if he has a back problem which will never get better.
6.) 27 Jul 2020 21:52:09
im guessing they trust gilmour then or could bring ampadu back.
7.) 27 Jul 2020 22:51:01
Gallagher.
8.) 28 Jul 2020 09:45:45
There are clearly two different types of midfielders at our club. Attacking midfielders include mount, RLC, Barkley, and Gallagher. Defensive midfielders include Kante, Jorginho, and Gilmour. Kovacic is the only one that’s somewhat interchangeable. I have no problem with Jorginho leaving to facilitate more minutes for Gilmour and I don’t think it make sense to have someone with Jorginho’s transfer value and wages as a reserve option.
9.) 28 Jul 2020 09:17:50
The team that eventually signs Ross Barkley if/ when he leaves would be signing a very good player (far better than the player that left Everton) .
06 Jan 2025 14:51:17
I do hope we recall Chalobah. It would be an embarrassing climb down from a management team who didn't just loan him, but actively excluded a first-team player from training and pre-season, but the right decision nonetheless.
It's one thing to not have a problem with this, but another to not lay criticism at the club's door. It was abundantly clear in the summer that out of Disasi, Tosin, and Chalobah we let the best one leave. Much like most of our business this season, there was very little logic or value applied.
13 Aug 2024 07:37:02
Do you expect the Gallagher to Atletico deal to still go ahead Ed002?
{Ed002's Note - Yes in an effective exchange.}
09 May 2024 12:02:07
James and Mount were absolutely integral to our UCL success Jimbo. You could make the case that Christensen was too.
The question is whether they can contribute to the team more than a more expensive or established player. Frequently this season the answer has been they can (Gallagher, Chalobah) .
09 Jan 2024 13:42:06
Hi Ed002 - do you know if anyone is being recalled to facilitate Maatsen the move on loan? I think we had maxed out international spots, but could be wrong.
{Ed002's Note - Hakim Ziyech I would expect.}
17 Aug 2023 12:23:58
Hi Ed002, in your opinion is the sale of Hall a reaction to this summer's spend at all? Or was there always a likelihood he may move on?
It's of course frustrating as a fan to see a young talent move on, but from an asset perspective he would surely be worth more to CFC in the next two or three seasons with regular first team football?
{Ed002's Note - No, there has been interest in a number of the younger players like Hall, Maatsen, Webster, Humphreys, Burstow etc. and the players know competion is tough and some want first team football sooner than they would get it at Chelsea, some are happy with loans, and others will stay.}
23 May 2024 10:30:53
McKenna was understudy to Mourinho if i'm not mistaken - so there are parallels with Arteta.
But the Arteta comparison completely misses the point. There are many more examples of coaches who have taken roles above their experience level and struggled. Just because it worked for one does not mean it will work for another.
Plus, Arteta himself struggled in his first two seasons at Arsenal. It worked well for that club but there are huge cultural differences.
As a club, we are not setup for a slow burn - we need UCL revenue. And fans will simply not have the patience to get through the tough times.
That is why you go for more established names who carry pedigree and can bring people together.
30 Mar 2024 22:29:42
Ed this can’t involve Reece James…surely?
28 Mar 2024 14:27:57
Really good to hear. Thanks Ed.
27 Feb 2024 11:36:26
Ed002 - do you anticipate a change in the summer, either with the head coach or the overall sporting model, given the way the season is bearing out?
{Ed002's Note - There is nothing wrong with the "sporting model". As I have explained previously the coach may change in the summer. I suspect he probably will.}
04 Aug 2020 10:53:49
I find it hard to believe there is an issue between management/ players, but would not be surprised if concerns have been raised by some.
The conditioning and injury prevention has been an issue all season long, and I would suspect that the intensity of training will be addressed before pre-season. Eds, is this something the club would look at?
{Ed002's Note - I am sorry but I have no idea what you are asking. The issue and muscle injuries that many sides have suffered is due to having to play so many games in such a short period.}
