I thought I read somewhere a while back that we had an interest in Declan Rice. Is that still the case. What I have seen of him he looks good. Strong and can control midfield. Also he is young. Could he be the new frank lampard.

1.) 27 Dec 2018 22:45:14
Looks classy player, Felipe Anderson I thought would struggle in prem but he looks good too.

2.) 28 Dec 2018 12:04:17
Declan Rice is an ex-Chelsea youth player - doubt we'd take him back.

3.) 28 Dec 2018 17:12:47
The Rice pudding dream of some, now looks to be finished.

4.) 29 Dec 2018 19:11:48
Are you serious?

26 Dec 2018 20:48:11
It’s becoming apparent as the Xmas games come along, we are being bullied in games. We have no strength in midfield to impose ourselves.
We have just scored a second, but we have no confidence to close games out.

1.) 26 Dec 2018 21:27:00
andrew we lack physical presence maybe but we are a fabolous team to watch and hazard is probably the mosr gifted player technically ul ever see in a chelsea shirt.

2.) 26 Dec 2018 21:51:46
I don’t disagree when it’s going well it’s good to watch. But Watford bullied us the same as other teams have done. This is where playing Kante further forward goes against us. We won tonight but we have lost at least one game we should won, and two drawn games we should have won.
I worry there are leaders on the pitch. Someone in midfield who can just take hold of the game. hopefully we will get a cf in the window and maybe a strong midfielder.

3.) 26 Dec 2018 22:14:52
Kante and jorginio will not swap. People are like a broken record going over this. In sarri's 3 man midfield the deep position is commander of the midfield, jorginio. He sets the tempo of the play. The right side kante is more your box to box midfielder (which he pretty much did with his old club and at Chelsea next to matic in the two man mid) and the left side sarri favours a more attacking midfielder. guys this isn't going to change. So accept it.

The fact we are 4 points behind Man city with a new manager 5 months into his job with 5 season's worth of players who played for a defensive managers and let's be honest half shouldn't even be wearing the Chelsea shirt, is pretty amazing if you ask me.

4.) 26 Dec 2018 22:34:56
i think alonso and a number 9 are the main reasons were losing games and d fact dat every week your worried alonso or rudiger is going to have a stinker or a stormer.

5.) 26 Dec 2018 22:58:19
I think it’s time to switch the style. Do Liverpool have a regista in their team, no. The idea of pressing that Sarri brings is good, I like how he press teams which we saw with the first goal today. However, Kanté HAS to go back to CDM. Unfortunately it’s affecting us defensively now. Jorginho simply isn’t good enough for a top premier league side. He’s not good enough when pressed, it’s alright doing it for Napoli who were never pressed in Serie A.

He also gives the ball away too much. We’ve been conceding goals that wouldn’t normally occur with Kante in the same role. To look back and think we used to have a midfield of Ballack, Lampard, Essien and Makalele is scary!

6.) 26 Dec 2018 23:19:51
Mc spot on mate, I don’t know if I rate Jorginho that wel but Kante has played the box to box before, it’s not as if he’s now an attacking mid he’s a b2b, and he can still defend the same he’s just a couple steps forward.

Pundits say that Jorginho and Kante need to swap and everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

7.) 27 Dec 2018 13:10:19
I rate jorginio very highly after watching him with Napoli. Think about the sport hockey, 2 people get assists for each goal scored, the guy who passes to the guy who assists gets awarded for an assist too, that's jorginio, he's great at it.

We also need to remember that he is trying to play sarri's system with 10 other players who haven't. It takes time but I think he's done great so far.

8.) 27 Dec 2018 14:25:56
Jesus Christ, the o my problem I have with Kante Jorginho is that jorginho isn’t needed every gene and Cesc is more suited and kante doesn’t get the praise he deserves for being the engine in that team, pressing high. Winning ball back and being able to get back into position, my only criticism is he sometimes try’s to cover too much and runs out of position.

9.) 27 Dec 2018 20:13:11
Mc1999 I appreciate Sarris plan the only problem and it has reared it’s head a few times leading to goals, jorghino does not offer the defence any protection which Kante does. Also jorghino has not been that controlling presence much since the Everton game, as teams have learnt shut him down and we struggle.

10.) 27 Dec 2018 21:36:17
I get that, but just because kante plays a few metres further forward than jorginio, doesn't mean he isn't back defending too.

It's reared his head because it's 5 months into his career at Chelsea and has only 1 player who knows his system perfectly which is jorginio.

I ask you to watch what jorginio was like at Napoli under Sarri, see what can happen when other team players are on board an decent enough to play the system too.

As Chelsea fans we have a habit of wanting managers/ players out at the first sign of unease. No wonder we have a pretty terrible team haha give sarri an jorginio more time.

Wonder if any of the Ed’s can throw any light on what’s happening re Rugani. It appeared ten days or more ago that it was a done deal, we seemed to have stuttered to a halt, not only on that but others a striker and keeper.
Trouble is we end up in a scenario that we are familiar with that we get to last week or two of the window, teams think your desperate and ask stupidly inflated price. Then we end with nobody, or more squad players.

7052andrew

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am concerned it is still likely to happen.}

1.) 27 Jul 2018 15:17:35
Thanks for that, I think as time marches on we are getting a bit twitchy.

2.) 27 Jul 2018 23:16:45
according to that Alfred Pedulla fella on Twitter we are having our 400th summit tomorrow with Juve to finalise it 😂😂.

3.) 27 Jul 2018 23:25:28
That guy loves the word summit. Someone needs to take it away from him. Honestly, if his all the reports are true then tomorrow should be the 400th meeting about Rugani lol. Surely Marina by now probably knows everything about him.

4.) 28 Jul 2018 00:09:37
Ed1 what is is the latest with Rugani? Have Chelsea made and improved offer?

{Ed001's Note - no change mate, Chelsea have been busy in talks with Inter over Vecino.}

5.) 28 Jul 2018 08:14:48
Scoop! Thanks Ed001, this is why many of us use this site. Great! No one saw this coming. Vecino? I am sure the press doesn't know about this yet. Good one mate, thanks.

{Ed001's Note - actually it was Ed002 who passed it on to me.}

6.) 28 Jul 2018 08:16:41
Morning ed, im guessing that with Vecino being looked at that this could mean either Bakayoko or Drinkwater will be leaving the club soon?

{Ed001's Note - Drinkwater is available, Chelsea have been looking to offload him almost since he arrived.}

7.) 28 Jul 2018 08:25:10
Cheers for the info eds!
I would be quite excited if we signed him. Very underrated player.
Quick feet for a big lad, very direct when bringing the ball out of midfield, great passer and breaks up opposition attacks well. He reminds me of a more mobile and skillful version of Nemanja Matic.
A close friend of mine is from Milan and his family are huge Inter fans and he speaks very highly of Vecino.

8.) 28 Jul 2018 08:36:19
I think he played under Sarri at Empoli.

9.) 28 Jul 2018 08:53:17
Thanks for the info Ed001 what sort of player is he and who’s he a replacement for thankyou for all the info.

{Ed001's Note - not seen him play sorry. He is for central midfield though.}

10.) 28 Jul 2018 09:01:47
Must admit I'd never heard of him until today but reading comments makes me a little excited. Sarri seems to know what he wants and is targeting players he trusts. Thanks for the info on Vecino Super Frank. Have you seen a fair amount of him then? Would love to know more.

11.) 28 Jul 2018 09:11:23
By no means am I a Italian football expert but I try and watch as many Juve, Napoli and Inter matches as I can.
Vecino isn't a stand-out player by any means but he does a very good and important job for Inter when he's playing. Breaks up opposition attacks and brings the ball out of midfield . Has always looked very assured and comfortable on the ball to me.
As I said he reminds me very much of Namaja Matic but with a lot more mobile and more direct aspect to his game.
As a replacement for either Drinkwater or Bakayoko in the squad and depending on price, I believe it could be a very clever piece of business.

12.) 28 Jul 2018 09:18:09
Ed1 what is the situation with the Rugani transfer mate, it seems to be dragging out, any idea? The media are pretty much recycling old news. It has all the hallmarks of the Alex Sandro transfer from last year where we wasted the whole window chasing. Hope this doesn't happen again.

{Ed001's Note - nothing is happening right now as Chelsea are busy dealing with Inter.}

13.) 28 Jul 2018 09:19:59
Vecino and Zappacosta have the same agent- Alessandro Lucci. One would think that a swap deal could be on the cards (that is if Sarri would be willing to let Zappacosta leave) cos InterMilan are interested in Zappacosta.

14.) 28 Jul 2018 09:47:42
Haven't been posting for a while. hope everyone is well posters and eds?!

I'm generally excited to our new look and style of football we hope to play.
We (hope the club are too) need to be very patience with Sarri, as it's a big change in style and type of manager.
from what I understand and have read on Sarri he is more of a coach then a manager, he is happy to work with what he has got and looks to improve and get the best out of players. Which if I'm not mistaken what the Chelsea board love and wanted for a while now.

Can't wait see 433 again, we thrived under that in 2004/ 05.

Just need to get two wingers with pace and very direct which are hard to find now.

Midfield 3 of KANTE JORGINHO Vecino would be amazing with RLC and Barkley fighting for spots.

I don't mind if we sell Fab, love the guy but is very slow now for the prem.

I'd love to see BAILEY added to the team!

15.) 28 Jul 2018 09:54:20
Oh this sucks. Vecino is no more than decent. Spending money on him would make for a new Drinkwater scenario.

Talk about an uninspiring target.

16.) 28 Jul 2018 10:02:59
I think you might be underselling Vecino just abit there Jackson. If we were to manage to offload Drinkwater or Bakayoko he definitely would be a huge upgrade on either of the two.

17.) 28 Jul 2018 10:18:09
Is there any interest in Drinkwater or Bakayoko Ed? I appreciate the club may want to recoup most of the money they spent last season but surely that's unlikely as we got fully mugged off by Leicester and Monaco. I'd like a loan for Bakayoko as I'm still hoping he'll learn how to play football again.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about Bakayoko, but last I heard of Drinkwater is that they were struggling to offload him. I know Roy Hodgson wanted him at Palace, but I don't know if they have the money for him.}

18.) 28 Jul 2018 10:33:43
Yeah I can see why we're struggling, he probably got a huge payrise joining us so doubt many clubs would be willing to match his wages. I've heard Palace are close to signing Kouyate from WHU but they're even struggling to pay for him so not sure how possible it is. Ah well! Thanks for the info mate.

{Ed001's Note - I think West Ham have held that move back until they get a replacement in as they are also close to selling Obiang.}

19.) 28 Jul 2018 10:43:35
Would the deal for Vecino mean that Zappacosta would perhaps go to Inter?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry, but it is certainly a possibility.}

20.) 28 Jul 2018 13:27:04
You guys are great Ed001 and Ed002. Thanks to both of you.

26 Jan 2018 20:45:14
Hi Ed’s

I am a after a bit of info. We were linked with a double deal with Roma for dzeko and Palmiere. Now it appears the dzeko deal looks dead, but since that came out there has been no talk of Palmiere. I thought he was keen and that the hold up was dzeko.
Can you throw any light on the matter.
Thanks in anticipation.

7052andrew

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware that deal will go through, probably during the week. I think it is just medical and dotting i's and crossing t's.}

1.) 26 Jan 2018 21:49:53
Thanks for info much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

2.) 27 Jan 2018 00:39:09
Ed1 any idea why it takes Chelsea a lot longer than other clubs to close out a deal? Is it case where our club tries to negotiate the lowest fee possible. Or are there other reasons.

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't. Some deals are just harder to work out details on than others. It took Liverpool about 5 months to sign van Dijk!}

3.) 27 Jan 2018 13:30:25
Yeah Ed001, thanks for the info- you are lovely.
Dzeko's agent just confirmed that the deal will go through, "He has one foot in London"

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

4.) 27 Jan 2018 18:38:53
what's gets me why are spending 20mill odd on a left that hasn't played for various of reasons and injurys and not spending the money of the potential on Sessongon Fulhams left back who has just scored his 11th goal today.

5.) 27 Jan 2018 20:28:35
Or why not use Rahman as back up and reevaluate the situation in the summer.

20 Jan 2015 21:43:09
Well satisfied with a draw as we set up not to lose.
However I am assuming it was Moses scored the equalizer as the defence opened up straight down the middle like the Red Sea. This is not the first time this season that has happened and its a bit worrying.
By the way do you know if Niall Quinn has sent us hate mail as well as slating us all the way through the commentary. I had to turn the sound off as I found his totally anti chelsea voice irritating.
Thought we weren't great but did a job.

7052andrew

1.) Anfield has got its atmosphere, playing in the semi is not same as playing in the league. Although there were lot of individual mistakes. I don't know while Cahil and John Terry likes running parallel with an attackers. Cahill has got lots of defensive mistakes since December and should have blocked the shoot or what is the need for running if you can't make an attacker to lose his balance or block his shot? Sterling will still try his luck and run at our defense at Stamford bridge. As post man never ring twice, hope our DM will keep him quiet.

2.) 21 Jan 2015 09:45:54
I totally agree about the commentary - I actually thought during the game that the the commentator must be a Liverpool fan. Maybe worth a complaint to Sky.

3.) 21 Jan 2015 21:53:04
It was so incredibly biased. Everytime the was a foul against us etc, he was saying that we were cheating/diving or it was a soft decision blah blah blah. Was beyond annoying.

Well a great first half. Should have scored more. Thought pulasic was poor after midweek. Mount played well but tired and Willian was beyond poor. In fact he would have had to improved to play crap. He could not even pass the ball.
This match highlighted an issue franks teams had at derby. Lack of midfield discipline, if we are that wide open in the later part of games we are going to take a few beatings.

Trouble is I know he likes to play a pressing game but after the 120 minutes midweek we were flagging even Kante.
Overall take a point but we need to find a solid midfield 3.

When do we find out if our suspension is on hold whilst the appeal goes through.
All we are asking is for parity. All teams should be treated the same. No favouritism to Madrid and barca.

7052andrew

1.) 19 May 2019 18:48:40
I think there will be a suspension of the ban and it will be announced pre-final.

26 Apr 2019 17:58:12
What is happening re our appeal, I thought they said it would be back by last week.

i wrote a whole load, dissecting last nights game and the poor performers. But deleted it.
Bottom line Sarri must go, even the fans have turned on him. It’s clear the players aren’t performing for him. Same issue with subs. Zappe sub summed it up, couldn’t bring on cho because if he turned the game it would mean he has been wrong.
Don’t get me wrong it’s not all the manager, some troublesome and poor performing players need shipping out.
First out door, Luiz, alonso, Willian, Zappa, closely followed by kovacic, Barklay, jorghino and I’m sorry to say dave.
The reason these players, we need new players, to get rid of the dressing room mafia. Those players have no respect for the fans they way they are acting and performing.
We spent a lot of money on a good keeper but he has no confidence in the team in front of him, this is affecting his performance.
Trouble is being a Chelsea fan is all extreme highs or depressing frustration.
The man for the job is not zidane.
Bring back carlo.

7052andrew

1.) 19 Feb 2019 20:23:54
Andrew, I don’t want Sarri sacked but I do agree about Carlo coming back but I’ve got this strange feeling the board/ owner might well make a surprising appointment.

2.) 19 Feb 2019 20:47:09
Trouble is TomB, he can’t stay he is inflexible. As a manager I don’t think you can have a my way or the highway approach. You can’t keep repeating things that aren’t working. The biggest indicator of that is subs. Teams can plan against us knowing exactly what we are going to do.

3.) 19 Feb 2019 20:54:19
Agree guys Carlo would be my preferred choice but no way Napoli would let us take another one of their managers. I'd expect a Blanc or Allegri, and both managers will struggle in similar fashion because of this squad. And we'll be here going through new potential managers this time next season unless most of these players are gone and replaced with quality.

4.) 19 Feb 2019 21:10:54
I agree LondonBlues, I think Sarri requires more time but I also think his stubbornness and boring substitutions will regrettably be his downfall.

I can’t remember who the poster was who said “the players will be getting away with it again” but I think that point is well made.

5.) 19 Feb 2019 21:27:03
Trouble is we need a clear out, get rid of dressing room mafia. Almost start again. I’m also not sure it’s not time for Eden to go. He can’t keep threatening so get best money we can. Thing is if we have a clear out we can get decent money. It’s not always about stars. Buy team players, because team players are what we are missing. Players who play for the team, manager and supporters and not for themselves. Just dissalutioned with current bunch.

6.) 19 Feb 2019 21:43:51
Indeed andrew, this is why i want us to involve more youth next season. Get these guys in the team, they'll show that desire and fight for the club, they'll play for the badge and bring more of a connection between fans and the players. Get Reece James in the set up with Aina, start CHO and involve Ampadu more often. You'll never question their mentality and surround them with quality. Sign the likes of Romagnoli, Jovic, Mendy, Fekir and Pepe. Doesn't have to be those exact players just needs to be proven quality not quantity. With this type of mix managers would have a much better chance surviving here and i think would find it much easier to implement their style into the team.

7.) 20 Feb 2019 00:19:29
My choice would definatelly be Alegri. The guys has passion for football similar to Conte's. Also he is Proven winner and would definatelly not allow the players to rule his dressing room.

Him and JT as his assistant would be amazing.

8.) 20 Feb 2019 03:09:25
Morris id love as assistant he will give CHO and Christensen starts and give them a kick up the backside.

9.) 20 Feb 2019 14:17:27
Steve Holland for me. JT his assistant. Lamps/ Morris is far too early into their careers to be considered.

08 Dec 2018 19:48:11
Always admit when your wrong is my motto. So Willian an apology from me, because second half you were the player we bought. Well done.
Chelsea best team performance of season.
Onwards and upwards.

7052andrew

1.) 08 Dec 2018 20:00:55
Credit to Sarri for tactical change. Brilliant. Simply Brilliant. Now he knows that you need to adapt to stay alive in BPL. PeP did say he is one of the Best to play against so maybe now he will show the rest that Chelsea has a top manager. Proud of our boys. Would have been perfect if we won the game against Wolfs aswell but the ball is round. KTBFFH.

2.) 08 Dec 2018 20:23:07
Truly there was a change in the tactics. The team played like a 4-5-1 formation each time Mancity was on the ball and the wing defenders did well today. Good game.

BruCeFC we coped in the past and we will cope in the future. It may make others step up to the mark instead of standing in the back ground. I think he will go. So we will find out next season.

Magichandshurley, I think you are spot on with RLC, or Christianson. Neither will make it at CFC and to be fare to them they need to go to play regular football. both could command good fees to be used on mor
E suited players.
As said earlier just my opinion.

Funny there was mention of smug smiles re spurs result etc.
I have a smug smile now, I said 2-3 years ago mason mount was the nearest I had seen to Frank Lampard.
Nice when a plan comes together. I also said Tammy should’ve given his chance. They are young there will good games and bad games. But the future is Rosie.
Oh by the way I said about Reece James last season as well but everyone could see that one.

Didn’t watch till last ten minutes, but they had an opening in first few minutes where busquets was left. Then there goal where yes it was a good strike but he was given too much room.
So for me I think we will be fine going forward, I worry those lapses at the back which we suffered from so much last year may return. If we stay switched on then hopefully we will be all good.
I agree with above most exciting season for years, just want to see a couple of home grown stars born.

I disagree a waste of money and blaming the club is rediculous. Every purchase is a risk, ask utd about lukaku, pogba and Sanchez.
Baka was not given the time he needed, when he went to Milan they said he was there worst signing ever. He was given time and had a very good season. With morata you have to play to his strengths.
My worry is all those that were shouting for frank to be the next manager and give him time, will be the same ones shouting for his head 3 months in.
I hope it works out but I worry his fantastic history at the club will be tainted if it doesn’t work out.

Omg woe is me.
We have barely finished the season and already misery and despair. Let’s get something straight we were a team before Eden hazard and we will be a team after he’s gone. He was a fantastic player, but he didn’t turn up every week and in a lot of big games he didn’t perform.
So let’s start being positive, Reece James coming back. Mason mount coming back. Tammy Abraham’s coming back. Pulisic coming. There are others too. It would be easy to say oh there not top quality players. Well they could well be given the opportunity. Hopefully Abraham’s will be there for the tap ins that nobody has been there for all season. Mount is the nearest to a Lampard I have seen. Also James top performer in championship.
So I think let’s have a little more faith. They always moan on here about youth not getting a chance. Bows the chance so let’s wait and see.

trouble is Sarri put out a team that should have been able to win. The problem was the front three Willian, hazard and giroud were awful. Willian is getting worse game by game. Giroud offers nothing, hazard just had a bad day. Kovacic tried but is not good enough. Luiz was awful for first 45 mins then for an hour he was superb back to his very best.
We need to improve in last two games.
