Hi Ed002 hope you’re doing well- same goes for the other Ed’s and posters on the site and across the other sites if you’re reading!
Just a quick question, no worries if you don’t fancy getting into it.
I saw on the arsenal page you commented on Chelsea potentially helping ease Atletico Madrid’s financial strain- my question is are we interested in one of their players? And who it might be?

Thanks for all the hard work and stay strong everyone.

Saim

{Ed002's Note - No there is no interest in their players.}

Interesting reading on the Man United banter page that Chelsea have agreed to two players arriving this summer. Obviously one being Jorginho who's already arrived and the other I'm assuming is Rugani. Ed002 also said we are continuing talks today regarding a couple of other players, so no need to panic guys! He also said we've agreed to selling three who still remain at the club. I'm assuming one is TBo but the others are anyone's guess! Just hoping it's not Hazard and Kante otherwise I might cry a little.

Saim

1.) 20 Jul 2018 14:22:11
my take on that.
golovin and jorginho - agreed
higuain and rugani talks
tbo, zouma and boga

no idea why its in my head but I had a nightmare last night and lallana was a Chelsea player hahahah.

2.) 20 Jul 2018 15:23:43
It looks like Chelsea is about to make an official offer of €50m+ for Rugani- with first option in case of a sale belonging to Juventus. Maybe that would do the deal. Who knows if Ed002 means that?

3.) 20 Jul 2018 18:41:55
Courtois and Willian could be going.

4.) 20 Jul 2018 20:02:44
From what we have gotten from the press- Hazard, Willian, Courtois, Kante, Pedro, D. Luiz, Cahill, Bakayoko etc. all have certain degree of question marks over their heads.

5.) 20 Jul 2018 20:05:29
Courtois, williams and hazard are going but higuan and rugani are coming though is painful to see hazard go but the prize I believe will be right.

6.) 20 Jul 2018 20:10:27
Drinkwater Zappacosta boga mushonda Morata Michy Giroud. question marks over the whole squad lol.

7.) 20 Jul 2018 20:20:58
I forgot Drinkwater, Giroud and Zapacosta.

8.) 20 Jul 2018 20:23:05
And Morata- this is becoming needle in a hay sack.

9.) 20 Jul 2018 20:56:13
All we know is Jorginho will not be sold this summer!

10.) 20 Jul 2018 23:30:01
Saim, hahaha. you are funny.

I think at CB we need to push hard for John Stones. We can't allow United to get him before we do. He's already one of the best CBs in the league, he's still very young and he's English! Marquinhos would be good nevertheless. I mentioned Kouyate as a good option for CM but I also like Jackson's suggestion of Xhaka.

He always seems to put in a solid yet unspectacular performance whenever I've seen him play for Monchengladbach and Basel. I know the word unspectacular doesn't sound too appealing but it is something I believe we need right now in midfield, stability and no drama (i. e. Magic with his silly 2nd yellow) .

And I agree on Griezman, he's awesome! Btw I don't know about you guys but I can't wait for Courtois to be back. Begovic has been pretty good but I can't help but feel Thiabaut wouldn't have conceded nearly as many goals whilst he'd have also shored the defence up I think. We've conceded far too many headers this season and I think had we had Courtois in goal this wouldn't have happened, he's such a physical presence!

Saim

1.) 27 Oct 2015 01:46:39
That's a great point about the conceded headers. We've given up a ton this season and I think courtois' best quality is his ability to come for the high ball.

2.) 27 Oct 2015 02:32:09
Why is Stones rated so highly on here. Yes he's a good player but he's showed he's still raw with some of his mistakes this season. Marquinhos and Laporte are both experienced and have had a lot of game time for their age and would both be better options I think. I'd personally like Marquinhos as he reminds me a lot of Carvalho.

3.) 27 Oct 2015 07:42:37
Marquinhos has been playing CL football as well for a couple of seasons now so he's used to high level football. He'd be a very good addition.
And indeed your point on Courtois is valid. Courtois is exceptional at dominating his area and snuffing out high balls and crosses. Hopefully he can return without much problems in December.

4.) 27 Oct 2015 09:35:16
Stones would be my first choice we already have a lack of home grown players plus you don't know would Marquinhos manage in PL. What we need is left back for sure (left footed off course) .

5.) 27 Oct 2015 16:55:12
I think with John Stones you have to watch Everton games week in week out to appreciate him fully. Not only is he a fantastic defender, he is a fantastic player with the ball at his feet. He reminds me of a young Rio Ferdinand ability wise (obviously not personality wise) . I can't say I've seen more than a few games of Laporte so I can't comment on him but I think that whilst Marquinhos looks like a very intelligent footballer, I have concerns that he might be a little lightweight for the Premier League. Again though, I haven't seen too much of him myself.

I've seen a rumour today linking Schurrle with Athletico with Miranda coming to us. Please tell me this isn't true ed

Saim

{Ed018's Note - sounds like some rubbish to me}

1.) This rumour is a joke, Why would you part exchange one of the most promising wingers in the world for an old and average defender?

07 Jun 2014 17:49:11
Hi Ed, just a question about Mikel. Is it likely he'll be leaving in this window or are the club looking to keep him? I ask because I'm actually a fan of his and think selling him would be a mistake! Cheers

Saim

{Ed002's Note - Yes, John Obi is expected to leave and has been the target of interest from Inter Milan.}

1.) I agree he has been excellent defensively for us if especially in big games (like ECF, against LFC recently etc), if often criticised for slowness or sideways passing when going forward. But if Mikel leaving as well as Lampard and Ramires we will definitely need more than Fabregas as replacement but would guess that all at Stamford Bridge know this. In particular Luiz and/or Ramires were great against City and LFC away, and have not seen enough of Van G. because of his injury to know how well he could do such a job (doesn't seem such an imposing physical presence). Or one of our current Under-21s?

Feels like a win and really happy with the performance after going to 10 men! Every player did their job

For all the noise made about Liverpool fans they’re not that great other than big European nights. Thought they were very quiet today other than when they had good attempts.

Saim

{Ed0666's Note - yes surprisingly the crown were a little subdued but to question the passion of Liverpool fans at Anfield besides European nights is pure bunkum and folly on you’re part sir.

1.) 28 Aug 2021 19:56:38
It was more like a library than a football stadium.
So much for the scouse crowd making the difference this season.
And as for the team they hardly laid a glove on our 10 men in the 2nd half.

2.) 28 Aug 2021 19:54:19
After the first 15 minutes, the Liverpool fans were strangely quiet - maybe we should rename Anfield 'the Library'.

3.) 28 Aug 2021 23:19:37
Sing YNWA. 90min of football . Sing YNWA.

23 Aug 2021 02:02:26
According to the Liverpool site we are not that great at the back!

Only the best defensive record in world football since Tommy came in! They’ve beaten Norwich and Burnley and suddenly they’re the best in the world again! Not sure if we’ll win or lose next week but I’m almost certain the title will be ours this season. Pep and Klopp slowly turning into Jose with the constant moaning while Tuchel looks fresh as a daisy and always smiling.

Saim

{Ed0666's Note - oh just wait for tuchel to switch. That man does vitriol like you wouldn’t believe. That fresh as a daisy crap Is just a facade 😂

1.) 23 Aug 2021 05:30:32
I don’t doubt it’ll happen to Tuchel and aware despite how well he’s done he’ll likely be gone sooner or later (like every manager) but Klopp is already moaning about everything 2 games in. Used to like him but he’s just like Jose now. You still have a great team though but if your fans want to call us out I’m happy to call your team out.

{Ed0666's Note - you’re well within you’re rights to critique whoever mate.

2.) 23 Aug 2021 10:49:41
Liverpool fans also seem to think their bench of Shaq, Origi, Minamino is better than ours 😂.

3.) 23 Aug 2021 10:51:13
The Liverpool page is always good for a laugh Saim. It actually amazes me how deluded a fan base can actually be. I honestly can’t understand how half the c**p on there makes it past the Ed’s and actually gets posted!

4.) 23 Aug 2021 12:11:20
I speak for Liverpool fans when I say that none of us think our bench is better than yours. Nor has that been posted on the Liverpool site.

Unfortunately our club cannot afford to have over £220mil worth of players sat on the bench.

That being said when our team is fully fit our options off the bench are far from awful.

5.) 23 Aug 2021 14:05:38
I assume that’s why we all try and have a top class squad they are not always fit.

I haven’t got a clue why or if Liverpool have little money to spend.

Most clubs seem to have to sell players to buy players and that is what our club has done over the last 5/ 6 years. Our nett spend isn’t as huge as some clubs but we are now a well managed club.

6.) 23 Aug 2021 14:50:26
I think Chelsea are an excellently run club. Your income from sales, especially from loanees has been impressive and that allows such great expenditure I suspect.

Unfortunately Liverpool do not have sufficient funds to really compete on a transfer front with Chelsea, City and United without some major sales.

As for Lpools squad there has been a decent clear out this summer of unwanted players and as long as we don't have another situation like last season our squad should be good enough.

Eagerly anticipating the game next week however, I think it's safe to say that City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the best teams in the league and will be competing.

7.) 23 Aug 2021 08:00:11
Ed0666, would like to know your thoughts on Klopp's comments about spending considering VVD, Alisson, Jota, Thiago, Konate all hardly cost pennies? Salah and Mané also weren't exactly gems picked up for peanuts too.

{Ed0666's Note - I think the issue here is off level playing fields which is no fault of sheikh mansour and Roman. By level playing fields I mean owner expenditure and the ethos behind it. Roman and sheikh Mansour have no qualms about spending their own money on shiny new toys for their club. FSG don’t take money out and don’t put their own money in (saying that I think they may be owed some money they initially lent the club but I’m not so sure eds 002 will know) they will make their money when they sell. I think the one in one out model is annoying also that we have but there’s no doubt we’ve been big spenders but let’s face it chelsea, city and man United can get out the Check book pretty much at will and still stay within FFP regulations .

11 Jul 2021 23:18:53
Extremely gutted but congrats Italy. Southgate gets the blame for the shootout defeat and agree with everything Matt says about him and tonight. If we hire a proper manager this team can win the World Cup next year, just look at the difference Tuchel made to us!

Saim

1.) 11 Jul 2021 23:29:41
I’m not a fan Saim but he is what the FA like as a manager.

Anyway, he is not going anywhere.

30 May 2021 04:52:14
Funny how Tuchel was appointed to help us get CL football next season, but he figured he’d do one better and win the damn thing within 6 months😂 Again I was one who questioned his style, but if we win the CL every year I don’t care if we play 10 at the back! What a feeling, it’s now 2 PM Sunday in Australia and I haven’t slept since Friday and now have work for 12 hours. Normally I’d be in a horrible mood but nothing will stop me from smiling today! What a club.

Obviously could be good news for us but this is exactly why clubs didn’t want to release their players. Ridiculous.

As far as I’m aware guys the interest in Monaco CM won’t go anywhere this year and that we’re very much interested in Moriba from Barcelona. That’s what I gather from reading the posts. Not sure about CB situation, only way I see Kounde joining is after someone else leaves. Plus now throw Chalobah into the equation.

Do you guys think Broja will get enough game time at a premier league club?

Think Leeds are very average and don’t play anywhere near as exciting as people seem to suggest. Bamford and Raphinha are good players and Phillips is ok but no where near good enough for us.

I don’t think the offensive positives of CHO at RWB are worth the negatives to be honest. Would prefer Dave there and minutes for Chalobah.

They talk about net spend until it suits other clubs. Learning to ignore Liverpool fans as they are usually the most biased and hard to reason with. That being said, the guys on the Liverpool site are generally pretty good guys, unlike the Liverpool fans on social media.

Not overly concerned. Been a great window for departures and we got the one thing we really needed. Can reassess in January if we feel like additions are needed but Chalobah can cover both the CB and CM position. Would like another CM but no complaints from me.

Every time I watch Liverpool play at home their fans only sing when they’re winning, never the twelfth man spurring them on when things are tough. Not going to claim Stamford Bridge has the best atmosphere cos let’s be honest our fans can be pretty hopeless sometimes too but for what was such a big game your fans made no noise. Matt you nailed it with that one haha.
