Hi Ed, hope you're well. Just wondered if Chelsea held any interest in Gonçalo Ramos?

Lots of "rumours" flying around that PSG might look to loan or sell this month.

Cheers.

dan23

{Ed002's Note - What, as an Nkunku replacement?}

1.) 19 Jan 2024 12:16:08
Hell no! Just in general.

13 Aug 2023 07:41:30
With Kepa going. Do we know if that makes Sanchez our No.1 and we'll look for a backup? or will it be a case of adding another keeper to be first choice?

dan23

{Ed002's Note - Another GK will be added.}

1.) 13 Aug 2023 12:42:04
Strange that we would let Kepa go on a loan, since the season has already started.

Do we have a list of replacement GK's?
Is Jan Oblak on the list?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there is a long list the club has, and no Oblak is not rhere.}

2.) 14 Aug 2023 13:14:48
Anybody have any thoughts on WHO? which GK we can and should sign?

01 Sep 2022 18:59:38
Well we finally have a defensive midfielder in Zakaria. not seen him play since he was in Germany.

Anyone or the Eds know much about him?

dan23

{Ed002's Note - Denis Zakaria (DM/CM) Juventus have used him sparingly since he moved in January due to nigling injuries and all parties would be happy to move on after only joining in January for a low fee. Juventus now have their DM target in Paredes joing at some point this summer. Juventus are happy to sell and Spurs enquired about his availability but opted for Bissouma. An enquiry from Newcastle as a Hayden replacement was met with the standard response of "not interested" as sthey struggle to sell their project. Recommended to Chelsea by an ex-player who is doing scouting but their are perhaps three ahead of him on the list. In the final days of the transfer window his name was raised again during discussions over another player. A loan has now been agreed. He is very much a solid DM player.

1.) 01 Sep 2022 20:03:35
So the Alvarez deal completely off then, with Ajax losing slot of players and not being able to bring anyone in,

2.) 01 Sep 2022 20:02:08
Thanks Ed much appreciated and thanks for putting up with us all. Hope you get a break now!

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

3.) 01 Sep 2022 20:12:28
Thanks Ed. I hope he is successful at Chelsea.

4.) 01 Sep 2022 20:12:33
Thanks for that summary Ed.

5.) 01 Sep 2022 21:11:59
I imagine you have had an incredible stressful time recently, Ed.
Lucky for you, it's almost done.
Thanks for all the nice information you have given on this site and the others. I will go to sleep now!

{Ed002's Note - There is no stress but thanks.}

6.) 01 Sep 2022 21:37:39
Zakaria eh?  Obinna will be happy.

7.) 01 Sep 2022 22:29:15
Hahahahahahahahahahaha ????? EdW; wow so good you remembered, I used to be crazy about Zakaria- he was one hell of a player at B. Monchengladbach. If he can give us what he gave to B. Monchengladbach, we will be more than fine. Cheers man much ?.

8.) 01 Sep 2022 22:38:54
Zakaria is Obinna's player haha. Solid DM tho.

9.) 01 Sep 2022 22:53:00
LOL; Come on Shak; I remember you liked Zakaria too (maybe not as much as I did) when he was at B. Monchengladbach. The lengthy injury that Zakaria suffered at B. Monchengladbach really did him a disservice.

01 Sep 2022 16:00:34
Reports now saying Depay deal is being talked about and he could follow Auba.

Still no sign of a midfielder, forget Depay and get us Frenkie.

dan23

1.) 01 Sep 2022 16:43:47
Depay over a midfielder would sum up the window,

2.) 01 Sep 2022 19:10:18
Still maybe both Matt.

3.) 01 Sep 2022 19:43:31
Looks like TT has got his way. PEA 10M plus Alonso; a player Barcelona got for free who they wanted off their books and who won’t be be fit for weeks- terrible business, we are so weak in the transfer market negotiations. Possibly Zaharia on loan, a player who has flopped at Juve, maybe he can play RWB as we have loaned out Dijon Sterling- crazy.

4.) 01 Sep 2022 19:52:03
Im annoyed with myself for not being ecstatic over spending £270m, feels like we’ve got in an injury prone dm after missing out on an apparent excellent one in Alvarez, auba is out for 3/ 4 weeks. Worries for the next month with the smoking of games and teams we have.

5.) 01 Sep 2022 20:00:40
In terms of summing up the window.

Maybe my brain’s turned to mush, but while we might not have everything we hoped for, the (potential) quality of what we have bought is excellent, both for now and for the future.

If at the beginning of any other window you’d said:

IN:
KK, Cucurella, Fofana, Sterling, [Zakaria? ], [Auba? ] (for now) ; Chukwuemeka, Slonina, Hutchinson, Sturge (for the future)

OUT:
Drinkwater, Werner, Palmeri, Barkley etc.

I think we’d have taken it, especially given where we were 6 months ago.

6.) 01 Sep 2022 20:15:42
It was always going to take more than a window to solve all the problems we have in our squad.
Or preferred targets for midfield and forward positions aren't available and we have not been able to sell or loan the players we have.
We have mended the defence but I think we need to take a good look at our forward and midfield in the next windows.

Hopefully we can turn things around with our current squad. c.

7.) 01 Sep 2022 20:44:45
Sometimes we don’t get what we desire.

I think the club have done better than I expected.

I should be shocked that some don’t think we have had a good window.

None of our signings are guaranteed to be a success but I will judge them in the weeks and months ahead.

8.) 01 Sep 2022 23:12:31
not a bad window but that forward position still hasn't been filled and it was an issue we knew about going into the window

on the players we have signed im happy with all, unsure on zakaria as its a vital position and although he's a solid player from what i've seen he also struggles with injury which is never a good sign.

02 Jun 2022 23:15:31
According to various sources, Dembele to Chelsea is a done deal? Personally, I don't believe it yet.

dan23

1.) 03 Jun 2022 08:02:26
What’s your take on this ed? You said some time ago that our chances of signing Dembele are very slim. Has it changed?

{Ed002's Note - The "done deal" obviously passed me by.}

Good result. Thought first half we were brilliant. Second half we showed fight and determination which i've barely season this season.

Big shout out to Trev and Cucurella, coming back into the fold and performing so well.

Also, credit where it's due, moving Cucurella into an inverted full back/ defensive mid is brilliant coaching. It stops teams countering us and cutting through the middle, allows us to win the ball back quick and pushes Gallagher up to start the press.

Just watched Thiago Silvas farewell video. Wish him all the best. Think for a player of his age to come to the premier league and become arguably one of the best defenders over the past 4 years is a testament to who he is as a person and how he's looked after himself as a player.

Would have loved to see him at Chelsea in his prime but glad we got him at all. Rolls Royce of a player. For me he has to be in that bracket of being one of our greatest centre backs behind JT.

dan23

1.) 29 Apr 2024 11:47:44
Sounds like he maybe back in some capacity in the future which would be great.

2.) 29 Apr 2024 11:52:12
dan, very sad to see him go but nice to hear him say he might come back in a different capacity. His sons are still at the club and I hope they are successful.

Good luck to Thiago and thanks for the memories.

3.) 29 Apr 2024 12:08:52
Absolute legend so happy he got to win the champions league here.

4.) 29 Apr 2024 12:19:12
Also, the WORLD club championship.

5.) 29 Apr 2024 12:32:34
I must admit I was slightly sceptical when we signed him because of his age but he has been top class for us. I wish him all the best for the future.

6.) 29 Apr 2024 14:36:40
Thiago Silva. An utterly brilliant footballer. So glad he got his CL and WC medals with Chelsea FC. All the very best Thiago.

7.) 29 Apr 2024 17:21:37
Despite his age he has been one of our very best players over the time he has been with us and we will remember his time at the Bridge wity fondness. Yes, all the very best TS.

24 Apr 2024 07:49:31
Having re-watched the game, I'm even more disgusted at some of the individual performances. I know it's highly unlikely but Disasi, Badiashelle, Enzo and Mudryk should be banished to the reserves.

No fight, no desire, didn't care at times. Enough enough. At least some of the others tried, as poor as they were they still tried.

This summer is going to be the most important in probably the last 20 years. We've got to get rid of a lot of these players and our recruitment has to be spot on. Otherwise I can't see how we come back from this for at least 5-10 years.

Sell: Sanchez, Disasi, Badiashelle, Cucurella, Mudryk, sterling, chilwell, madueke. I'd even sell Enzo if I thought we'd recoup and money.

Build the team around Colwill, Trev, Gallagher, Palmer and Gusto. They clearly play for the badge.

dan23

1.) 24 Apr 2024 08:10:17
Dan, Basisshelle has been very poor since his injury and I have seen very little to suggest that Disasi is any better than Chalaboa. Enzo has been carrying an injury for some time and I would suggest he has the required surgery asap. Mudryk has been average at best for some time, we might be better off loaning him out.

I gave my list of the ten players I think will be leaving the club some time ago and that list unfortunately included both Gallagher and Chalaboa.

2.) 24 Apr 2024 08:38:05
I know I keep drumming on about ot but our injury record this season is nothing short of atrocious and whatever has been done about it this season has clearly not worked.

As for Poch, I was one who thought he would be ideal to work with this group of young players, how wrong I was. Total defeatist attitude and now with his team selections seems to have given up and wants out of the door pronto.

The morale of the team will be shattered and he is not the one to pick them up.

Who's idea was it to let Broja go out on loan just to get splinters sitting on the Fulham bench when quite clearly we have no option up front but Jackson who keeps getting hammered.

3.) 24 Apr 2024 09:03:44
After performances like that you want to take a breath and not batter the manager but it’s so difficult as some of the blame has to go on him. I’m not forgetting Clearlake, the transfer strategy is awful, the medical department seems to be a shambles and I’m not sure what the recruitment team do.

I don’t like seeing people sacked but sometimes it’s for the good of the cause. I’m not entirely sure where we go from here though. It feels a bit like the club as a whole needs to change their strategies before a new coach comes in.

Be interesting to hear the EDs views on it all….

4.) 24 Apr 2024 09:10:45
Bill, I wanted Potter as our manager and to show how stubborn I am, I still think it was a mistake to sack him.

I wouldn’t have started Mudryk or BB but other than that I don’t think Poch had many alternatives with his team selection. I guess he could have picked Silva and played Disasi at RB.

Putting aside his small error for there first goal I didn’t think Gilchrist was to bad.

5.) 24 Apr 2024 10:50:48
Dan I share some of your views, especially your point about the overall strategy needing to be reviewed. I've felt since Xmas that Poch was going at the end of the season and since then there have been too many performances like tonight for him to survive.

Personally, I think the only way the squad as it currently is can compete is to go with something resembling the below:

Jackson
Nkunku/ Carney-Palmer
Chilwell/? -Enzo-Caicedo-James/ Gusto
Colwill-Disasi-Fofana
Petrovic

Ideally you'd keep Chalobah and Maatsen, but we all know they're gone.

Is a true upgrade on Jackson going to be available and want to actually sign with us? No idea but I seriously doubt Gyökeres is the answer.

6.) 24 Apr 2024 15:39:36
RBD

How many drom the team you mentioned will stay fit for more than 5 minutes?

7.) 24 Apr 2024 16:16:26
Dan let's sell the club.

23 Apr 2024 21:30:49
To start those 2 at CB after the performances they've put in this season is ridiculous. I'd say that's the final straw now for Poch. Time to go, awful!

dan23

1.) 23 Apr 2024 22:05:08
I agree Dan but you were singing his praises the other day! 2?.

2.) 23 Apr 2024 22:10:44
His line ups and substitutions are bizzare at best.

I was fully in for him staying till next season but after witnessing that Im not convinced whatsoever.

3.) 23 Apr 2024 22:12:01
Hate but and want him out but can’t be ignored that Clearlake along with Winstanley and Stewart first they have made us a complete laughing stock.

4.) 23 Apr 2024 22:12:41
Awful display we looked so tired, we have so many missing would still keep Poch won't judge him till we have a fit squad.

I would have had Trev Carney Sterling and Casadei in my starting 11 Saturday would of taken a lot out of the team

Makes Palmer and Gusto look good.

5.) 23 Apr 2024 22:26:26
It’s 1 step forward 2 steps back G8. I don’t mind giving praise when it’s deserved but tonight was the final straw. He’s got to go now, I don’t see a way back from this.

6.) 23 Apr 2024 22:31:21
I will be critical of Poch when he gets things wrong and today I think he got a lot wrong but I still think he will be our manager at the start of next season.

For those TT lovers there is a Chelsea supporters rumour that he has been approached to come back.

7.) 23 Apr 2024 23:26:56
the only previous manager i would welcome back is Carlo please not TT OR jose.

8.) 24 Apr 2024 06:57:04
I would start some other players now. Like carney and casadei. With caicedo between them. Mudryk up front.

9.) 24 Apr 2024 07:41:03
I would send Enzo off for his operation drop Gallagher back as a DM and play Chuka or Palmer as the AM.

I would keep picking Noni but I wouldn’t have Mudryk anywhere but on the bench.

10.) 24 Apr 2024 12:33:02
Agree with this Tom. Enzo won't be right until he sorts this. He offers next to nothing at the moment, so why delay it? Noni has shown enough this season and last to merit the place. Chuka has looked brilliant to me every time I've seen him play – I'm a big fan. I'd banish Mudryk to the reserves for last night's performance – give an academy kid that spot on the bench.

07 Apr 2024 19:41:30
Awful again. Just shows the last game covered up the cracks as usual.

Not sure what's worse, the fact Poch is still here or the fact the board aren't actively looking for a replacement. Total incompetence all round.

Before we start splashing the cash on a forward, the defence needs seriously looking at. Disasi, Badiashelle, Cucurella and Silva all need replacing.

European football has gone and I doubt we'll win the fa cup. Season is over, project is well and truly failing, and with the possibility of points/ financial punishment I fear for us going into next season already.

We need a backup GK, cover at left back, 2 new centre backs, a defensive midfielder and a striker.

dan23

1.) 08 Apr 2024 10:12:12
Dan, the last game didn’t “cover up a tracks. ” We deserved to beat Utd but we have said that lots of times this season.

Champions league football has long gone but we can still get a European slot via our league position but that is more down to all the teams bar the top three are crap.

As far as replacing Poch is concerned, my guess would that the club is continually reviewing the situation and wi have drawn up a list of option that include retaining Poch.

Petrovic will displace Sanchez as our No.1 by Christmas, he’s that good. There’s a reason why Brad Friedel and many scouts recommended him to most of Europes top clubs. I remember when we signed big Pete, he was hardly a household name and went on to become one of, if not the greatest goalkeeper in Premier League history.

The squad and Poch just need time to gel. He’s been in the job about 6 weeks. I think we’ll come good around November/ December and finish around the Europa league places. For me that’s good enough considering where we were last season.

This season was never about winning the league or even finishing top 4. If we can go from 12th to 5th/ 6th and gain a clear identity in the way we play I think that’s a massive achievement. Adding a cup would be a bonus.

I know it’s disappointing, letting some of these lads go but if they want to further their career elsewhere we can’t really grumble. How many of us stay in a job we hate… actually don’t answer that ?

But seriously, Broja is a talent but he’s nowhere near ready to lead our attack. He did ok last season, show glimpses but a lot of games he wasn’t great. If he isn’t happy to play second fiddle to Havertz or a potential signing then he should get games elsewhere, just a shame it might not be a loan.

Colwill, on the other hand I think would be a massive mistake. For me, he’s ready now. I’d go as far as to say he’s better than Chalobah, definitely better than Sarr and I don’t rate Kimpembe if he comes in so I’d sooner as save that money and use Colwill.

Nothing mate. He’s just not a good defender. Perhaps the others make him look better than he is. He’s clumsy, can’t pass, positioning is below par, has too many mistake in him and isn’t the calibre of player we should be signing.

We spent millions on a guy that is no better and probably worse than Trev.

The pundit team were embarrassing but most of them usually are.

Carragher going on about kids, they played 30mins against the worst Chelsea team we’ve had in 20 years. We also have a young side and it took a 33 year old VVD to break the deadlock.

The remarks about billions, but skip past the fact Liverpool also were in for Caicedo at £100m+

How G Neville has the cheek to mention money as a Man U fan is funny.

Disasi lost VVD for the goal. He’s probably our worst centre back. Half a good game vs City doesn’t make up for a rubbish signing.
