Cannot bring myself to wish anything good toward Havertz, Jorginho or Sterling. Yet I can watch (for example) Hall and Livramento, Kovacic or Chalobah and hope the lads do well except V Chelsea of course.

London, the worst performance by any ex Chelsea player was Werner. He was truly dreadful.

2.) 12 Jan 2025 21:54:15
I will always thank Havertz for that ECL winning goal v City. but don't want him to win anything with AFC.

3.) 12 Jan 2025 22:21:37
Yeah I heard that TomB. Postecoglou has hammered that lad, Spurs have no chance of getting anything out of Werner. I try to stay neutral and try to enjoy watching other clubs, (of course having a chuckle when rivals get beat) . But watching the three ex Chelsea at Arsenal actually boils my blood?. Sad. But there you go.

4.) 12 Jan 2025 23:04:51
London, watched the gooners v Utd game. I decided to make myself a cup of tea as the gooners were awarded a corner, when I came back they still hadn’t taken it.

5.) 12 Jan 2025 23:18:35
Unfortunately, Sterling will be back in the summer on £300K a week with no interest from other clubs at least Werner and Havertz are off our books.

6.) 13 Jan 2025 04:42:10
London, for some reason I’ve never minded the gooners as a club but I’m not a fan of there manager.

I do get the ex player thing. There are a few players who have left over the years that have made my blood boil as well.

7.) 13 Jan 2025 08:18:17
I have watched Arsenal highlights several times this season all being corners. For the life of me, I really don't know how they get away with all the things that they do, it's like watching American football with all the blocks going on.

On another side, I'm so pleased we did not go for Amorin, his football is so boring with 10 players in defence and just hope for quick breaks to svlcore goals, I felt sorry for their young CF.

8.) 13 Jan 2025 09:29:52
Bill, I have a feeling that Amorin might well make Utd a decent side in seasons to come.

9.) 13 Jan 2025 10:00:21
? ?, Tom, Bill you’ve got my Monday off to a flyer. Cups of tea being brewed, American football numbers being shouted before play commences…good stuff.

Conference league is a good stamina builder for the squad to step on. It also gives the coach the thot process of busy weeks every week. Would like to win this one. Good for the players and good for global identity.

Gives players game time while also allowing rest for the important first 11 undopaables.

Was impressed with Jorgenson in goal it may not work but I would try him in the Premier league as we all know Sanchez is not the long term answer.

2.) 29 Nov 2024 08:52:13
I am not a fan of the Conference League. Yes it gives players game time but that’s the only positive. The emergence of A and B squads could become divisive. Also, I am fed up with Sunday games. I don’t agree that it enhances our global identity, if Chelsea weren’t involved I wouldn’t bother watching it. I expect us to win the competition, if we don’t, I would regard it as a failure.

3.) 29 Nov 2024 12:56:34
I totally agree with Jimbo.

Would any top side want to be in this competition?

I also agree with the so called A and B squads, it will eventually cause a strain in the squad and although it might not mean a numbercof players jumping ship in January, it probably will in the summer.

4.) 29 Nov 2024 14:11:55
Our squad is so large we need the likes of Felix Mudryk Diasi Nkunku getting minutes they will / may be needded later in the season

Bill we haven't been a top side for 3-4 years think European football is a positive it also gets the club the chance to get used to having the rhythm of playing midweek games for when we are hopefully in the champions league next year.

5.) 29 Nov 2024 14:20:15
It’s just another competition that we are qualified for and we should do our best to win it. I have no idea if playing in this conference competition has a positive effect on our cubs profile.

Generally, players who don’t think they have been given enough paying time would probably want to leave anyway.

If we do manage to qualify for the Champions League this season we will want a similar size squad and I would like to think that if we do qualify for that competition the vast majority of players would want to stay anyway.

I’m not a fan of Sunday, Friday or Monday games but I am a fan of being able to afford top players. So I find myself wanting my cake and eating it.

6.) 29 Nov 2024 15:53:50
This competition is a no-win for us.

If we win it, we will be told that a billion pound squad should easily win, and if we don't win it, stand back and wait for media bombardment.

7.) 29 Nov 2024 15:56:37
Tom, the Europa Cup and Conference League isn’t going to finance top players. These two competitions result in a high proportion of Sunday games. You can’t have your cake and eat it nor can the coaches and players who moan about too many fixtures. If it wasn’t for the the TV money they wouldn’t be earning millions of pounds a year. The fans just get inconvenienced.

8.) 29 Nov 2024 18:46:42
Jimbo, if we win the conference I thought we automatically went into the Europa and that will generate more money as it’s the next tier up.

If we win it we can genuinely say “we have won it all” and I quit like the idea of that chant. The media will probably refer to the amount we have spent if we finish anywhere in the premiership. It’s just what they do.

Players, managers and some clubs moaning about how many games they play will I think lead to a player game cap or more likely, bigger squads.

9.) 29 Nov 2024 21:09:35
Billy boy, how on earth can you describe it as a no win competition for us? I was around when we won the Milk Cup many moons ago, enjoy the moment mate.

10.) 30 Nov 2024 11:07:42
West Side I too was around when we won the milky way cup, the win tasted nice at the time.

Clearlake should sell up and go home. And Take their skewed recruitment team and their third rate manager with them. There is not a shred of discipline, work ethic, or indeed technical tactical awareness to be found in this group. Even the “star player” Palmer is suffering from being allowed to do what he wants, he is petty and self indulgent, which is running through the team. To a man they are lost. If they were awarded a penalty they would pass it back to the GK.

In my opinion IF Chelsea had a WC GK they would still be in the top 4. (If you add a WC CB and CF Chelsea would be challenging for the title) . Add the GK shenanigans to the failure of converting “good chances” to go 2 or 3 goals up in games and I think you have 90% of the reasons why Chelsea are currently out of the top 4.

In fairness, this Chelsea team are young and by instinct they play to attack. (Nothing wrong with that might I add) As a result, not only do they give away too many chances, they compound it by giving away too many painful to watch cheap goals. There also appears to be a continuance to the recruitment imbalance at the club, whereby focus on signing “potential” rather than battle hardened winners is accepted as the way forward. That needs addressed if not stopped. Easier said than done? Possibly.

But money talks in sport. and Chelsea under Clearlake have been talking way too much. In football it is a rule that is as old as the game itself. Always put your big money into the spine of the team, the rest can come and go without too much disruption. That has not happened at Chelsea of late.

Did Clearlake not get Chelsea for under “market value” if you will) due to the owner being Russian. Then blow that financial leg up (if you will) on the most ridiculous recruitment strategy. I knew Chelsea were in trouble when the first signing was Sterling.

Currently Chelsea are too lazy, too lazy to beat a well organised team, to beat a hard working team, never mind a quality team like City. These lads take breathers every game AS A TEAM, and everybody’s touch, thought process, passing, and general awareness of staying in the moment, of playing with purpose deserts them. Everything slows down to a snails pace. First signs for us fans is the slow passing, playing around and with the goalie, the by-line, the six yard box, the taking of an extra touch, the failure to clear the lines, the failure to push up, constantly being boxed in for minutes at a time, spiralling to a general sloppiness all over the pitch, the giving away of crazy fouls, ridiculously throwing themselves to the floor to win fouls instead of running and competing, a reluctance to take quick attacking throw ins, quick free kicks, EVERYTHING TAKES TOO LONG TO DO, it is absolutely bizarre.

Seen Dennis at hampden for Scotland. All us kids loved seeing the Anglo-Scots, the name given to Scots who played for English clubs. Cooke, McCreadie of course, Law, Bremner, Lorimer, Gray. As a side story I also vividly remember whilst turning out for the school football team our headmaster would check us players before leaving the dressing room loudly stating “no Dennis Laws or George Bests in this team” a reference to wearing our shirts outside of shorts! He would then take his position at the half way line in a long grey heavy woollen coat, highly polished brown brogues, soft hat and heavy rimmed spectacles. He wouldn’t have looked out of place in one of those black and white Cold War movies that done the rounds during the late 50s early 60s. Happy days.
