Someone said we might be talking to the FA as we followed an approved procedure. Does that make any sense?

Ed002, does the transfer ban ( not knowing if it's frozen or what ) have repercussions on who would take the job etc, for example would Allegri take the job knowing we have a ban and do the club have to take that into consideration, have they spoke to any managers who have ruled themselves out because of poss ban,

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest. Sorry.}

Now with the nfortunate imminent departure of sarri . what do we think will happen with gianfranco I don't think he will go with sarri as I think the club brought him in hopefully there will be a role for him but hopefully not as a manager not with a ban coming up .

Hi Guys and Gals,

I wanted to ask 2 questions of the site members, including the Ed's if they wish to partake.

1) Should Sarri part ways with Chelsea FC, who would You look to bring in as His replacement and why?

2) Where do You expect Chelsea to finish domestically next Season and why?

I look forward to reading any replies and thanks in advance?

Love these kinds of questions Blue Nose!

1) I'd go for Erik Ten Hag, I loved watching Ajax this season. He'll incorporate our youth and I believe his style is close enough to Sarri's that the transition will be a bit easier than reverting to our defensive style. Realistically, I think Lampard will be our new boss.

2) In the words of Conte, I think we should be prepared to suffer. We will find it difficult, our youngsters could be thrown into the fire and us fans MUST get behind them and our new manager. I've mentioned that some fans are too spoiled with our success and don't understand that success usually takes time. Take Liverpool for example, they stuck with Klopp through their re-build and now they are European champions. Our manager merry-go-round needs to stop if we want to consistently fight for titles on all fronts, it will also help us compete to recruit and sign world class players. I'd say that our hire and fire philosophy of managers is a turn off to the top tier players, but to be fair we don't shell out money like Madrid, United and City do.

Regardless, we need to always support the manager, the team and Roman. It's fine to be critical of decisions, but not every wrong decision needs to end in calling for someones head.

Two good questions Blue Nose.

(a) I would welcome back Carlo but I think the Watford manager might be a long shot. For me Lamps needs a little more experience, plus, I’m not sure why but I would REALLY hate it if he failed as our manager.

(b) I will be happy if we finish in the top four again and we close the gap on City to something reasonable. We are always strong in cups, so fingers crossed for one or two more finals.
If I’m honest and realistic I think it will be a tough season but I’m hoping to see some of our youngsters given extensive first team runs!

Good questions blue

1. The coach / manager will shape the way we will play. But Roman has shaped the reason we win . I happy with any manager as long as we keep winning. We should always aim to win the premier League, not top 4. The year we won with Conte . we were not the best team in the league but we won it. We has something good going on with sarri and we need to keep that going. Pochettino for me would be the best.

2. We need to win the league. Realistically we have to atleast be challenging.

Good question I would like Mourinho I think his time off may of been good for him and will be ready to go again and with Cech hopefully going up stairs there’s a good bond already there.
And if we get champions league football if we are not able to buy I’d be happy.

Let’s just remember the good times he gave us!

Agree with Tom, wouldn't be able to stomach Jose coming back to manage again. Though maybe as a DoF role in the future?

Tan hag w/ Steve Holland and JT as number 2’s, ? Plays young players like everyone wants ( and with possible ban) . Dutch, so there’s a philosophy there, if no ban would possibly want to bring one or two of the Ajax players, but prem league is a different beast to Dutch league,
NOTE : if petr cech is in in some sort capacity that’ll help massively,
Then there’s Nuno from wolves, plays counter attacking football. Does great v big teams who have to be on front foot and can happy sit and break on them, not best football but done well with wolves, not sure what direction Chelsea want to go with manager. Are they looking for a long term new style or would they want a Allegri Simone Jose type who doesn’t care what footballs like,

German managers, are there any good German managers who are about who would take the job on, strict with a philosophy also. Bundesliga good league.? To be honest I’m more worried about the appeal and not having a transfer window as we are losing hazard and have no goalscorers, whoever the manager is will struggle, so maybe an experienced set up not to lose manager will be the answer for a year, Rafa anyone?

The papers say he is still a close friend of RA but I just can’t see him coming back to our club in any capacity!

1) Agree with Matt that the club should try and sign Ten Hag as Sarri's replacement. He'll play a similar style of football so the players won't have to go through much of a transitional period. Also see him doing well in involving and improving the youth.

2) taking our situation into consideration i don't think many should be expecting top 4 next season. With Hazard leaving and us not appealing to CAS we've lost a big part of our attacking threat. Looking at our attackers in Pulisic, Giroud, Odoi, Willian, Pedro and whoever the other ST is i don't see enough goals there. Pulisic and Odoi will be very exciting to watch next season but we can't expect them to put up big numbers. The player i see being our biggest threat is Ruben but he's likely out until October. Personally i feel like we'll finish 6th but we'll have a good run in one of the domestic cups.

1. My first choice would be Allegri, I do like him as a manager (question though is: if he would be interested to come here) .

Then there is Ajax's manager who would be good option though he may sturggle at the start.

Also good shout would be Gasperini but don't really know if there would be any chance of getting him.

Last but not least there is Lampard (with Morris) and if transfer ban remains may be an amazing option.

Answer to your 2nd questions is that I would take 4th place trophy for next season if ban is in place and if not we should of course aim for premier League like every year.

Very good question and nice to see reasoned debate on here as well.

The club will be accepting the transfer ban and therefore a different approach is required as a few younger players will be needed to make the transitition to elite level football. With that in mind Jody Morris is key, he guided the likes of CHO, Mount, Reece James, Tomorri etc to unrivaled success at youth level and knows them well. Lampard is very articulate and adept at handling the press and would be a great link between the fans and players. Pete Cech will be appointed in a senior role very shortly and will be the link between club and manager and of course, knows Lampard very well hence my choice would be Lampard as Manager and Jody Morris as his assistant.
Turning to part 2 of your question I would say the squad we have coupled with some returning loanees and maybe 1 or 2 academy players is capable of challenging for the top 4. We are a good Cup side and I would expect a challenge in both the domestic cup competitions. With the money saved from not buying players over 2 windows and the money coming in from player departures that would make a nice kitty for Summer 2020 to bring in the 2 or 3 players to build on next Season.

What's the deal with club World Cup, is there no competition this year and are Europa league winners included under a new format.

So I'm going to guess it is either going to be Holland or Lampard taking over from Sarri as it would appear The club has decided to not appeal and really these two are only real choices Holland because he will get best out of the youth and Lampard because it will unite the fans and most people will give him time even if results aren't great.

Ed 100% right home games have been toxic this year and in hindsight Sarri has done much wrong city and Liverpool are way ahead to get third was remarkable in itself.

If as I suspect the club have decided against appealing and with hazard almost guaranteed to move on getting top four next year will be a huge achievement.

Does anyone know if my thoughts are correct or not in terms of deciding not to appeal and who would people want Holland or Lampard personally I'm going with Lampard has don't want england being disturbed and the fans will back him but he's a long way from ready.

May I also ask ed if you don't mind where do we stand as a financial perspective right now are the club doing very well in that regard or do the books still need balancing? Thank you.

Will be a tough few years, some of the loan / youth players are not half as good as people make out or hope they are, most won’t make it in prem, add that to some of first squad need replacing by time we can buy new players we may not have the lure of champ league football, Holland would be my choice, or lamps AND Holland,
