performance of the season so far. controlled the game from back to front. everything went our way, including a little bit of luck here and there but that's football. really liked the line up and through 3 at the back really worked out well. the subs were spot on also. put the Chel!

Can't seem to reply to my other post and Eds reply so - no, quite the opposite, I think Chelsea need the stability a long term Lampard tenure would deliver. I was hoping you'd clarify that the club are much less hair trigger than fans would expect. All the best.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - the club has no plan to get rid of Lampard.}

When we lose or perform badly this place is flooded with comments, I want to see how much we get on here tonight.

Brilliant just absolutely brilliant, positive football, control, Technique and class. Not once did we look out of control of the game. Hats off to Lamps and the lads.

Special mention to Willian, Mount, Alonso, Kante and Zouma.
The whole team was as unit.

It's been a while since I felt so comfortable with a lead. Usually our leads don't last, however, today was magnificent.

I hope the players can really kick on now.

ELI, your point is well made by I can except posters and fans being critical when our performance deserves it but it’s a lack of constructive criticism that does my brains in.

I also dislike the offensive language used to describe a player or his performance.

22 Dec 2019 19:50:02
I’ve got to add Eli I thought Tammy was superb really gave Alderweireld a hard game which is no easy feet I know he didn’t score but hold up play and work rate was fantastic, he’s really impressed me so far this season.

Frank got it wrong and players were too laid back v Bournemouth, tonight was the complete opposite, superb, 3 at the back shocker them and they didn’t have time to react, credit where it’s due and criticism too. Willian AND alonso, brilliant. 2 best performances have been 352 this season,

Completely agree with TomB about offensive language re players, constructive criticism fine though judge a player over a length of time and realise that they are human and likely to have highs and lows. Thought our midfield bossed much of the game, certainly the first 60 mins or so, and the three at the back made us look more comfortable in defense while freeing up wing backs to get in more crosses/ behind the opposition defense. Wonder if Frank will use this more often? Kova and Kante fantastic, Willian brilliant, and these seniors plus Dave (back to Duricell Bunny best) and Tony R inspiring the youngsters around them too (and vice versa at times perhaps! ) . Tammy a handful, Mount looking back to his best. We still need to be a bit more clinical with taking our chances, we are still at early stage of rebuilding process so mustn't get too carried away, but this game was a joy to watch, if especially the first 45 mins. Now we need to play like this when teams come to park a bus at the Bridge and hit us on counter. perhaps the three at the back and two wing backs (Conte) system could be tried at home too?

Top post as always JBS. As you say, will be interesting to see we line at home against Southampton on Boxing Day.

Thanks TomB, always enjoy your excellent posts, and indeed it will be very interesting to see line up versus Southampton and can find way to break down stubborn opposition at home more easily than so far this season.

Willian was immense in this game. Mount really creative, his passing is truly something. Frank gave us an insight into his tactical ability. Great tactical victory by Frank. No DVDs today Jose. Frank showed his ability to change tactics and formations when and where necessary and also to galvanise the players into having a real team spirit. 3 very important points. Clean sheet.

Jose is not special anymore. Jose Mourinho is not happy with VAR and after the game he said: "I hope Rudigar recovers from the broken ribs, for sure he will have some broken ribs". Jose - the non-special one - has to understand that the point is Son kicked out at another player and you are not allowed to do that. It is totally unnecessary and Son got the red card he deserved. Also, considering that Rudiger was then racially abused by the Spurs fans. I don't think it is a good idea for the Spurs manager to join in with Rudiger abuse.

The problem with three at the back when Conte was in charge, especially in the second season, was that it was so defensive that more often than not it was five at the back. I seem to remember Huddersfield away that season, they wanted to sit back and counter whist our wingbacks sat back too - it was a boring war of attrition.

Against Wolves and now Spurs this season we've looked good and aggressive playing three at the back with offensive wingbacks - really want to see us develop that system moving forward.

Would love to see an offensive 343 Vs Southampton - think it'll make breaking them down a bit easier.

Hi Ed002, I hope you're well and the travels are allowing a bit of space to breath (people think business travel is glamorous, I do a fair bit myself and it isn't! )

Chelsea's form recently has been really quite poor. Systemic issues are going unresolved, such as defending set pieces and crosses, and our overall conversion of chances - things Lampard has called out himself. Whilst fans aren't calling for change, I wondered if you could shed any light on when a club like Chelsea would start to consider form as getting out of hand and consider a change? Fingers crossed it never gets there but it's likely fans will start moaning way before the club considers it a serious problem. Typically how much planning goes into changing manager mid-season?

{Ed002's Note - If you want lampard out you should start a hate campaign on social media.}

I didn't expect the starting line up. I won't get too much into it but I expect waves of spurs attacks today.

Lampard is probably feeling the heat and is playing to shut out the goals today.

Good luck to the lads. I hope we win.

Jose's set up has been anti football and we have taken advantage of it.

I can't believe the referee gave a foul vs Alonso. Thankfully VAR made the right decision today.

This is for Ed001 and the guys. Is Sancho really worth the hype and do you think he is ready for the next step in his career? And also on Boga, I feel he may be the next break out star. What do you make of him?
Have a good day.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - on Boga first, I am with you I think he might well be the next to break out. Got something about him that lad.

As for Sancho, ability-wise he is fantastic, but he can struggle to make an impact when he starts games. I do have worries over his attitude, he has said a few things and done a few things which suggest it may all be going to his head.}

22 Dec 2019 11:28:13
I will add to the Boga part, from what I've seen this year he seems to have improved massively. His dribbling is really good and pretty much causes a lot of problems for oppositions. Credit to the guy for his hard work.

22 Dec 2019 11:31:23
Ed do you think we should be interested in bringing him back then?
I seem to recall that Ed02 has confirmed that we've got some sort of buy back-clause for him, so perhaps we might even get him at a very favorable price. Boga himself also said recently that he might return some day.
In my opinion, it's a no brainer. If a club like Barcelona is interested in Boga - which some newspapers have claimed recently - then we should be all over getting him back. The worst thing that can happen is that we realize that he doesn't have what it takes, but we would've bought him back for a very good price and would probably be very likely to sell him on for more.
He's definitely one I think we should give a chance this January if he's interested in coming back already!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would if it was me. Depends on if he fits Lampard's ideas for the future though. But I would get him back.}

22 Dec 2019 11:52:37
I feel the same about Boga that he seems special in some way and just waiting for the right time to explode. The way he glides past players is really a joy to watch. I hope the club take another look at him. Thanks for the reply Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

whats your thoughts on sancho ed 01 is it a possibility or just paper talk. seems to be consistantly poppin up these sancho to chelsea rumours at his age he could be worth a gamble he's a talented young man who could potentially fill hazards role . potentially the key word as i don't watch dortmund regularly so i dunno how consitant the guy is but most of the time incheck the score sheets on sky app he seems to be scoring a lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Dortmund are a little fed up of his attitude, so his sale is very likely in January or the summer at the latest.}

22 Dec 2019 15:16:23
I find it very admirable how many players you seem to know so much about, Ed. Football really must be a huge passion for you in a way that very, very few else can match. It's really nice to be able to hear from people who know so much more about the game than one self!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is more of an obsession I think to be honest!}

22 Dec 2019 23:30:56
do you think he would be a good fit for us edd with the other young talented lads we have. it would seem the best place for him to come definetly for game time here or united i doubt hed break into liverpools 11 with der red hot front 3 and man citys. s. hope all eds and fellow fans have a jolly an safe christmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I do think he would do well, but it could well be at the expense of game time for Pulisic and CHO. Though I could see him as an excellent replacement for Pedro.

Cheers KFL, merry Christmas to you and all the other posters on here. Hope you all have a great holiday period.}

23 Dec 2019 10:24:09
have a great christmas ed and many happy returns.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate and have a safe and happy New Year too.}

As i'm sure people would have seen the Sancho rumour and would post on here at some point, please don't believe anything from the Sun and get your hopes up since more often than not it's just rubbish. I reckon we'll go in for him at some point but the "closing in on Sancho" just seems like someone wanting to get some clicks.

It's worth noting the journalist in question has a very good record with Chelsea deals- was reporting Kepa replacing Courtois several hours before anyone else even mentioned his name. Also reported Pulisic first.

Who's the journalist mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Dec 2019 15:04:30
Journalist is Duncan Wright. He's got a lot right regarding Chelsea over the past few years including the Pulisic deal, Courtois saga, Kante deal and some others. Jody Morris is also following him on all socials. I'm just saying even tho things may look positive to say we're "close" is pushing it considering what goes into negotiations. Think there's a long way to go.

Ed002, I know you're busy, but can you provide a little clarity on the winger situation?
Are we looking to sign both Zaha and Sancho implying that Willian will leave, or will we sign one of them along with Willian signing an extension?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You are starting to make up these strange stories in your head again. Where do you get this stuff from?}

22 Dec 2019 09:37:39
We're getting linked to both Sancho and Zaha, so I thought maybe we are looking to sign both.
