Yes this the Chelsea we had years back. Wha t a waya to get back into reckoning. Some man utd fans

Thought we are out after one out of thirty eight games. Seriously my isn't Luiz better a DM than CB.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2017 23:16:00
No. He looked leggy and tired in the second half. Would rather him CB with the impressive Rudiger and Christensen, who apart from one missed clearance, had a cracking game. Cesar out to RWB.

Bakayoko looks a hell of a player. Still not 100% fit, just played 90mins with no pre season under his belt and looks quality. Bakayoko >> Matic ANY DAY!

Morata is going to take some time getting used to the prem. needs to hold the ball up better. Should of scored. But certain the goals will come.

Great team performance!

21 Aug 2017 01:22:45
You must be the only Chelsea fan that thinks we're better with Azpi at RWB than Moses then. Moses in undroppable now! Christensen over Rudiger for me!

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 06:44:32
Nick. WATCH the whole matches mate. How many time is Moses caught out of position? Don't just watch the ball, it what I learnt when going to the games. Some people just follow the ball. I like to view it from a different angle and watch different player movements/ positioning etc.

He allows his speed to get him out of trouble sometimes.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 07:19:31
I agree with Adam. Azpi is a better RWB than Moses. Only thing he doesn't do as well as Moses is dribbling, but his crossing, cutbacks and general interplay is better. Defensively he's obviously leagues ahead of Moses.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 12:15:38
dont like cesar rwb he offers nothing going forward moses is better der given his pace on the counter attack. azpi is really underated he kept luiz an cahil. togegether last year brilliant centre back love his agression.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 14:41:43
Offers nothing going forward? Did you watch him playing under mourinho? But out of position on left? Up and down, some decent crosses. Linked well with hazard. Could do the same with Willian/ Pedro too. Wasn't he the one who crossed for Moratas header y'day?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 18:11:49
Cesar is the best defender in the league and you want to play him wing back? Give your head a wobble.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Aug 2017 18:50:13
The best centre back? The best full back? Lol. great defender, good going forward. Our weak link is Moses. Think you're the one who needs to give their head a wobble. If we sign a new cb It would make sense that he goes out there.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Aug 2017 20:58:48
all the people screaming for cancelo and alex sandro all summer give it a rest. alonso and moses are fantastic hard working full backs they don't get half the credit they both deserve real old stubborn style Chelsea again today good to see bakayoko didn't do to bad needs to stamp out d stupid fouls a bit do. hazard, pedro still to come back in. riduger didn't look comfortable at all. what i guys make of today. christianson done really well didn't do much wrong.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2017 07:06:11
My brother, don't blame anyone screaming for Alex Sandro and Joao Cancelo. Those 2 players are immense. Very few players have their kind of profile in the world (they can both play- simultaneously as full backs and wing backs) .

What could have happened with the Cancelo deal? Was it money/ valuation related or the player's demands?

We definitely need a backup for Marcos Alonso. Though i don't support the inceassant pursuit of Alex Sandro (asides the fact that his valuation is too high) there are other targets that can grow into that role in a year (playing in Chelsea) .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 17:20:01
Cancelo isn't immense he's average, not really an upgrade on Moses, he's better and younger I agree but not world class.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2017 06:58:11
Cfc17, some quick questions please:

1) What do you mean- when you say he isn't World Class?

2) What do you mean by he's better and younger? Better than who?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2017 07:00:33
I never said that Cancelo is better than Moses.

WE'VE GOT OUR CHELSEA BACK!

So we didn't dominante the game but defensively we looked solid, without all those silly little mistakes. We dealt with crosses and corners pretty comfortably, always a man at the near post to clear. And Christensen in the center was superb.

Bakayoko made a few silly fouls, especially the one that lead to Spurs's goal. But once he's 100% match fit he's going to be a great force in our midfield, he has strength, can tackle and can also drive forward with which we saw glimpses of today. Excited to see more of Bakoyoko in the coming weeks that's for sure.

And Alonso, what more can you say about this guy. We saw him hit a few free kicks last season (although he only scored one I believe, hitting the bar a few times) . And his winning goal just shows his worth to the team, he might not be the fastest but he gives everything and pops up with valuable goals. I thought he was great defensively also today.

And to see Conte celebrating on the touchline gives you that feel good factor back. Hopefully a few more squad signings before the window closes as our bench did look pretty weak today. But all in all a great defensive performance today, especially after last week. So hopefully onwards and upwards from this point and we can put this summer behind us and do our talking on the pitch!

Want evidence we can go deep in the champions league?

Look no further than today. Stubborn as heck. Brilliant.

20 Aug 2017 21:00:35
Bakayoko got a bit unlucky with some calls against him as well. Ref was really quick to call fouls against us at times. The one that led to the own goal for example, I thought that was very soft considering some things he let go for them.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 21:12:44
Chelsea was never lost. I haven't noticed that anyone doubts first 13 or 14 players. Concern is when we have to play very long season on 4 fronts. So 4 or 5 additions would be more than welcomed.

20 Aug 2017 19:56:51
What a defensive performance that was. Amazing work by the team, especially Christensen, Luiz and Kante. They locked up the middle against a strong Spurs team.

Just a note, but how do Spurs get away with rubbish tackles all the time?! Dier should've been off immediately for that 1st half tackle. That was more dangerous than the Cahill tackle from last week.
Vertonghen's "tackle" (if you can call it that) deserved a red as well. That's just nasty and dangerous.

It's incredible how dirty and rough they are in defending, yet guys like Alli fall over whenever the wind blows in the stadium. Ref kept giving them the softest of FKs as well. Luckily we dealt with the FKs and corners extremely well.

Went to the game as always today and I've just got home and watched the game again on TV.
A few things spring to mind how did Spurs finish with eleven players?
Also watching the recording the most used name by the commentators and the so called match experts was Matic!
I think I'm correct in saying he no longer plays for us and certainly doesn't play for Spurs!

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 17:28:21
I was getting annoyed wth that. Matic was an average player for us and £40m is a steal. Bakayoko was much better in that game than Matic was all last season. It's only because we sold him to a rival that everyone is making a big deal about it.

Hello guys!
I didn't get to see that much of today's game, so I would love if you would give your opinions on how the players played - especially Bakayoko, Rüdiger, AC and Morata? :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2017 18:45:50
Rudiger was a bit shakey but grew into the game. Baka did well, few needless fouls but for someone who isn't match fit or had a pre season he was very good. Morata worked hard, some good play and once he's fully fit I think he'll score for fun. Christensen was excellent all game.

How we managed to get Kante for £30 odd million seems like the biggest bargain ever. Games like that show why he's the best midfielder in the league. Did the job of 2 players again with ease!

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 18:56:45
Bakayoko - looked ok. Brings the ball forward a lot more than Matic use to and much better pace. Gave away a few silly free kicks. Not fully fit imo. Going to be amence.

Rudiger - calm composed and seems to have adapted straight away. Really has looked good the last 2 games despite the result against Burnley. Could easily keep Cahill out the squad.

AC - again, calm composed and did a fantastic job. Still raw but has another level in him. Reminds me of Azpi. No frills but does everything right.

Morata - quiet game as most of it spent in our half. Looked very strong and is faster than I expected. Can see him doing fantastic this year.

Of Note was Alonso. Just fantastic all round! Can't sing his praises high enuough.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 19:01:56
Morata did well if you look at how Spurs defence is. He is strong on his feet. Will be a joy to watch when we have more ball posession. Bakayoko was awesome considering he only had little time to adapt. He is not fit yet but did really well. Christiansen for me did really good and Rudi still needs to adapt a bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 19:12:25
Pretty much agree, rudiger got better as game went on and towards end actually seemed happy with crosses coming in. Christensen was superb. 100% pass accuracy and vital blocks, morata was really good considering he was isolated and few times willian could of played him in, Bakyoko looked a beast that wasn't fit, showed why we replaced him for matic, got tired and gave silly fouls, also want to say how Pedro and Cahill got reds recently and how vertonghen didn't and noble this weekend shows lack of consistentcy,

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 18:25:07
Fantastic result. Thought we answered a lot of questions. I know we've had a moan about transfers etc. But all the media and pundits jumping on us trying to talk about crisis bla bla bla. silly comments.

Whole team worked their socks off, big performance by Christensen. Baka did really well for someone who's had no pre season and isn't for yet.

Lovely to talk about something positive 😂.

Antonio Conte is tactically the best coach in the World. Good team performane. Tottenham wasn't in the game- the entire 90mins.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

20 Aug 2017 18:26:39
Alright, I'm sorry to say it, but saying that they weren't in the game is a big, big lie. They played really well during many periods, especially before the first half was over. And Antonio Conte needs to prove himself against the very best teams, as he hasn't got the best record there. Still at top, top coach though!

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 18:33:11
Tottenham was always in the game. Chelsea had a massive game today and we came out tops. So pleased with the win. Tottenham is still top condenders. Luiz did well in midfield. Agree with the Co te statement Love his passion. I think Rudiger and Christiansen did a good job.

20 Aug 2017 19:00:30
Hahaha. U guys are right, Tottenham was in the game but Conte's tactics was on point. It looked like everything they did amounted to nothing.

20 Aug 2017 19:56:24
There mistake was to many balls into the box, we dealt with it ( except michy ) and only times they look dangerous is when tried playing trough middle of us, they wanted to cross it so we let them. Bread and butter with the height and azpi there tidying up on ground.

Good performance by the team. Was today's formation a 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 guys as Luiz played mostly as a midfielder and a sweeper today instead of his traditional role?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 18:33:21
It was more 3-5-2.

Good system away against the big teams, Luiz just sitting in front of the back 3 (he reads the game so well), allowing Kante and Bakayoko to break forward when required. Then supported by Moses and Alonso, brilliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 18:01:49
MASSIVE win for us today! Alonso showing his worth, feel confident every time he takes a free kick from that position. Rudiger and Christensen fantastic and will hopefully retain Conte's faith once Cahill is back. Bakayoko gave away a few silly fouls but brings energy and power to the midfield, looking forward to seeing what he can do when fully fit. When Hazard and Pedro are back and flying and possibly a few additions this team can go places. Now let's have some positivity boys!

Agree4 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 18:18:19
Rudiger was a bit iffy for me. He let Kane run him ragged down our left channel. He's a bit like Cahill imo, in the sense that I think he'd be much better suited to play RCB rather than LCB. Overall he was pretty solid though. Bakayoko showed some great glimpses and can't wait to see what he can do fully fit. Christensen imo showed the composure and class which got him high regards in the Bundesliga. Morata was decent, missed a golden header early on but started to show some good play just before he was substituted.
Great result overall, hopefully this will put some of the negativity of the past few weeks behind us and we can start moving forward with confidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 18:39:20
Yes, a massive win. Still look disorganised at times but gutsy for 90mins. Bakayoko will take time to get used to our way of playing but great buy and made for the premiership. Alonso is winning me over, not because of his goals, but he is clearly trying to up his game and you cannot ask for anymore and of course he is an aeriel threat as well. Up front we struggled I thought. Willian again (and again) does everything you could ask but the end product, goals, is missing and Morata needs the team to play to his strengths which are movement and clearly an eye for where the goal is but overall I was disappointed with him, a bit too much ambling about.

20 Aug 2017 15:12:05
Big game for us today, avoiding a loss will be our main objective but I feel quietly confident we'll see a good performance today. It could also be a blessing in disguise that Fabregas is suspended for this one, with Bakayoko now fit and getting his first start. Morata also starts today which is great as I feel he holds the ball up much better than Michy. Moses also back today and he'll provide a more attacking threat from RWB, With Azpi going back into the back three. c'mon Chelsea!

We're soo lucky to have Conte as our manager. I know this isn't a "rumour" but Conte's recent comments about the club and what he aims to achieve with us is music to my ears and beats any transfer Chelsea have/ will make. If there was any sort of problem with the board throughout the summer it seems to have been resolved for now.

It's been a long time coming for the club to fully back a manger and their project, to give them time to create their own team and way of play. We haven't been that type of club for a while but i truely hope Conte is given the chance and is backed if/ when Chelsea go through bad patches.

The success the club seems to have with the current philosophy with managers i struggle to see this happening though, Conte's a man who likes to have full control and Chelsea aren't a club who let's managers have it. This will be a huge year for him and hopefully for us as a club, to move away from our reputation for sacking managers as soon as things look bad and to give the guy at least a few years to create his own team🤞🤞.

100% agree. He knows exactly what he wants and what players he needs in order to achieve it. There are a couple more players (no names) he wants to get rid but he will do it his way.

If conte bought players in and struggled as the board I wouldn't throw money at him but he done superb job and got best of players to his disposal, with the players he wants and bit more control we could really push on especially in Europe, plus with conte there's no drama or fa fines and ridiculous mind games.
