Jonathan David is the latest striker we are linked to. This one makes sense. He has maintained a steady progression throughout his career, typically averaging a goal return in the high teens. Would be a good signing in my opinion and wouldn't handbrake Jackson.

What's your thoughts?

Not to come across as a turbo negative poster, but; why are the club claiming to be searching for a young and vibrant manager?

We had one in Potter and Tuchel? Not quite kids, however they were both clearly still learning the trade at the top level. Now we are looking at managers who have managed to get promoted from the championship. The business model of the club changes direction like the wind. It is almost like the owners are coping what they're seeing in the media.

Both Potter and Tuchel get a team out of the championship. The difference between them and those being linked is they had experience at managing at the peak of the game (although Potter less so than Tuchel) . But, the club forced unwanted players on them and wondered why it didn't equate to immediate success on the pitch.

If I am one of those on the reported list of candidates, then I'm marking and avoiding CFC. They will be regurgitated before they know it. The club needs to demonstrate what their vision is by supporting a manager with time, not resorcing them with the next big thing and expecting over night success.

I will of course support the chosen manager, but long gone are the days of becoming emotionally invested in them.

Lukakwho, the club sacked plenty of managers under Roman and the majority of fans were mute. If they didn’t give the club success they were shown the door. Using your term they were “regurgitated. ”

I do agree it would be nice if a manager was given time but as things stand today I can’t see any manager who doesn’t get us in the champions league for the 25/ 26 season being in a job for long!

It’s basically what we have been doing for about the last twenty years anyway.

2.) 23 May 2024 23:54:42
The owners have been grossly incompetent. That's been clear for quite some time now.

3.) 24 May 2024 06:30:02
I agree Tom, but at least under the previous ownership the fans could understand the logic. Which was orientated towards results.

Currently Tuchel was hooked because Potter was flavour of the month, who in turn was given less than a season. Granted Poch only managed 6th, but there was clear progression. I'm not privileged to know what is happening internally, from the outside though it looks chaotic at best.

Good luck to whoever gets the job, they will need it.

4.) 24 May 2024 07:54:22
Lukawho, I never understood the logic of our previous owners sacking the likes of Carlo and I certainly never understood the logic of selling Tomori or signing Bakayoko. There were plenty of things under RA that were a mystery to me and maybe others but to a certain extent it didn’t matter because we were successful and there is the big difference.

You are correct about us fans not being privileged to know what is happening internally.

I have no idea why TT got sacked but his football was in my opinion a durge.

Great win last night, but very disappointing from Recce James.

As our Capt he should be setting the standard. He has played a grand total of 421 minutes of football this season and been sent off twice, 50% more sending offs than any other player. It has been discussed about a lack of authority from Poch causing discipline issues. In fact, it appears to be our petulant Capt.

I would be surprised if he goes to the Euros.

1.) 16 May 2024 07:35:14
I may be wrong but I think it’s James third red card this season. One I think was when he was in the bench injured and couldn’t play anyway.

I sill think Southgate will pick him for the Euros.

2.) 16 May 2024 08:02:34
I hope not Tom, I think he needs the Sumner off and fully recover for next season.

3.) 16 May 2024 08:31:20
He needs some games as he is going to miss our first two games of next season.

4.) 16 May 2024 09:07:03
He reacted that way because he has just returned from injury and probably felt the tackle from Joao Pedro could have put him out again, still no excuse to react in that way but he is human at the end of the day.

5.) 16 May 2024 09:24:43
He can get those games in pre season with us Tom, not worried about England and he probably would mot get many minutes if any so he might as well go away and relax and continue his fitness build up.

6.) 16 May 2024 10:47:47
Bill, I would start James at RB for England and play walker alongside Stones.

7.) 16 May 2024 16:00:38
I think Ben White is currently the best RB for England. That ship has sailed, but Southgate should be trying to get him on board.

8.) 16 May 2024 16:53:45
Southgate is probably taking Walker and Trippier just like he always does ? I’d expect Maguire and Shaw to be there too. Probably Rashford. Not expecting much from England this summer as Southgate is far too set in his ways and never seems willing to take a slight risk outside of his favourite players.

9.) 16 May 2024 16:59:07
I thought Ben White had ruled himself out of playing for England.

This is probably due to the tournament being played in the summer!

ED, I'm m no football tactician, so I will ask what your thoughts are. What is wrong with our defence? We can't seem to keep a clean sheet for love nor money. Every time I watch us there seems to be acres of space for the opposition to play in within our penalty area. Is this a case of the defenders not reading the game properly, tired legs, lack of communication and cohesion between defence and midfield, or a bit of everything?

Goals for us are an issue, but the cheap goals we give away needs to be addressed. You can't be beaten if the opposition don't score.

Any thoughts from the community?

LukakWho

{Ed001's Note - it is a bit of everything, added to the tactical set up which allows players to be dragged out of position to press. A press needs other players to react and fill in gaps behind the players pressing but that is not happening a lot of the time. It might just need time to work on, it can take time to understand a system, especially as players are so in and out of the team at the moment.}

1.) 31 Dec 2023 11:05:10
I think Ed is correct with players in and out of the team, mostly due to injury.

Imagine if we had James and Chilwell playing every week.

The midfield also changes due to injury do not help either.

Also I know we are missing a lot of chances however we are scoring goals unlike last season.

I'm interested to see how the team performs when all are fit, if that is possible with the medical teambwe seem to have in place.

This is going to be a controversial post, but here goes. Mason Greenwood; playing well in Spain, has goals and assists in him, and will likely be available in the summer. He also has PL experience and was arguably one of Man Uniteds' best players before his suspension. He is still only 22 years old and considering he hasn't played in the PL for over 24 months, he already has 22 goals and 4 assists.

I think he would offer a lot to our team and is worth a shot. Clearly, this would be hugely unpopular amongst some supporters. Thoughts?

No thank you.

2.) 17 Dec 2023 09:45:15
Absolutely not.

3.) 17 Dec 2023 10:00:04
If it happened and he scores a few people would soon forget just like if you brought lukaku home and he started score fans are so fickle.

4.) 17 Dec 2023 10:55:23
Nib,

No Greenwood or Lukaku, ever.

5.) 17 Dec 2023 14:43:34
No to Greenwood for me.

6.) 17 Dec 2023 16:43:11
Nib, I agree. From a business point of view, it depends on whether the owners are prepared to take a hit with the short term backlash. ?.

7.) 17 Dec 2023 19:11:43
Not for me; it would damage our reputation.

8.) 18 Dec 2023 08:01:26
I think greenwood should be welcomed back to football aslong as he donates half his wages to educAtion around DA and SA. if he does that, sure.

9.) 18 Dec 2023 08:28:36
No thank you.

Not convinced this will happen, as Ed rightly points out. But, what a signing it would be ??.

I hope we bring back Guéhi, and also keep Chalobah. If any of the current CB's was to be sold its got to be Badiashile, Chalobah offers utility in other positions as does Disasi.

I think Guéhi and Colwill could be a great partnership moving forward. If we can get a solid experienced keeper behind them as well, the defence in my opinion would be good to go.

Would be great to see Guehi back at the club. His name has popped up a couple of times now. Him and Levi would make a great pairing.

Ivan Toney has to be the number one priority this summer. Jackson is getting better with each game and will be ready to lead the line soon. Toney is EPL proven and will do the job for a couple of seasons. Don't waste crazy money on a striker, if we are going to spend big, get a proven CB in ???.

I hope he goes. Too injury prone and too one footed. Would love to see us make a move for young Braithwaite from Everton. Him and Levi would make a good pairing.

I think Guéhi would be perfect alongside him. Both have come through the academy and know the club ethos. Both are also comfortable at bringing the ball out and starting an attack.

Maasten should be in our squad for next season. A settled back four is needed to be competitive and it is hard to achieve that when Chilwell is constantly on the sick. Same can be said for James, Gusto has to be ahead of him now.

Of course, just my opinion.
