Its probably the only bet you can place with certainty.
As surely we can't go 4 reds in 5 games.
05 Oct 2025 07:50:40
We did go 4 reds in five games as Maresca got a second yellow gor his celebration fown the touchline so was sent off and will not be in dugout away v Forest!

It continues to show how ineffective Chelsea transfers are under Boely and Co. Can't believe Chelsea over few seasons have spent such a whopping amount on players yet no identity and injury to one or few of the players and we are done. Our attack can't perform palmer and defense without colwill has been dross. I hate to say it but Chelsea may have truly surrendered the big club status with Boely and Co at the helm.
Though Chelsea won against Benfica but you all know we are just waiting to surrender the 3 points to Liverpool on Saturday with the team performances lately. It's like baiting life for business and when you lose you lose everything.
The Ed said they got wrong advice from someone which is even a bigger problem. They really never understood how a club is run in the first place but we're rigged in to buy the club by people who wanted Chelsea to go down.
Not being optimistic but i still hope Roman will be allowed to take over after the Russia Ukraine wars are over because our Chelsea are in a problem.
Said Jackson will have a multiplier effect on the team but most think he's not good enough and all that. Just watch the attack and realise he's missing. I know it's only a loan but I hope he returns. Delap is not better than Jackson though. Forget about all the excuses and other nonsense peddled by the club to make it look attainable.
Victor Osimhen is the target Chelsea should have got, but the club were more interested in the business of buying to sell players than the club's success on the pitch.

Subject to certain conditions being met Jackson was a loan with an “obligation@ to buy so it’s unlikely he will be back at Chelsea.
Osiers a player I would have loved us to sign and as I understood the then situation we tried very hard but e could not or would not match the players wage expectations.
02 Oct 2025 09:28:41
Tom
The obligation is that he has to play 40 games which i doubt he will achieve.
I have read that BM are looking to buy Jackson but once again will put in a low ball figure, Jackson will say I'm not going back and there you have it another Lukaku situation, rinse and repeat.
Why do we not just bloody sell players outright.
02 Oct 2025 09:54:45
Bill, if BM don’t want him at the agreed we can take him back or sell him to another club.
I can see no reason to be pessimistic at this stage, particularly after he has started well for them.
As far as selling outright is concerned, we have to understand that we are not the only club obliged to conform to FFP-PSR rules.
02 Oct 2025 11:07:06
Jackson will score lots of goals for Bayern and the price to buy him is set. If they decide against it we will either sell him elsewhere or keep him and loan him at £15m a year or play him. No need to panic. He is a great asset to have on the books and nothing like the Lukaku situation.
02 Oct 2025 11:51:17
Sleep and Pedro are both better are the world class no.
02 Oct 2025 11:52:12
Delap and Pedro are both better are the world class! no.
02 Oct 2025 13:15:43
Tom, RPD, I have no doubt he will dig his heels in and say he only wants BM, similar to a certain cretin that was Lukaku.
02 Oct 2025 18:58:59
Unless BM stand bye there obligation. Unlucky.
03 Oct 2025 09:01:05
Tom
You just know it does not work like that.
03 Oct 2025 10:19:33
Bill, with all due respect you seem to get very confused between the old regime and the new one. Roman was notorious for buying his latest toy and then when it didn't work out allowing the player to dictate his next move. He had money to burn and loved to be involved. The new owners are ruthless businessmen and won't allow players to dictate. Relax and don't worry about Jackson, it will be fine mate.
03 Oct 2025 12:54:05
Jackson has just scored his first goal for Bayern and I wish him well there. Whether he has to stay or not depends I think on whether the obligation comes into force only if he starts 40 games or just puts in an appearance in 40? But Bayern management can anyway control whether they have such an obligation or not and if he wants to stay they may not wish him to play 40 games so that they can get our price down if NJ wants to stay.
To my mind we were crazy to loan/ sell him this season if we didn't think Guiu ready yet to be trusted to play many minutes if needs be or as main striker and if we hadn't signed an additional striker beyond Pedro who arguably is more of a number 10 in old money!
03 Oct 2025 13:24:12
I definitely wouldn’t have sold Jackson but it appeared he wasn’t prepared to fight for his place in the first team.
I am not expert in the BM negotiating abilities but from the little bit I have seen, they seem to crumble when it comes to the crunch.
03 Oct 2025 15:09:29
I hope so Tom.
01 Oct 2025 09:42:22
It's quite obvious that Maresca did not want Guiu, if that is the case it was poor on the SD's to bring him back from Sunderland where he would have more gane time.
Talk about crashing a young players career.
Also whole om on the subject, where has the poor discipline set in, yet another red card.

01 Oct 2025 10:47:26
I personally rate Guiu and I was happy to see him going on loan to Sunderland and would have also given in mins in some games. He probably would have started against Lincoln but I believe there was clarification needed on him potentially being cup tied. I think we will see more of him in coming weeks. I think it’s a bit early to be talking about “crashing” a young players career.
I have no idea how our discipline record compares to other clubs for last season but for sure this season our run of red cards is a concern.
01 Oct 2025 12:48:36
Our discipline is a concern Tom and we seem to have received record numbers of yelloow cards v United plus the three red cards in a row in last three games. Mind you the Ref last night seemed vety card happy and was handing them out for what in many cases should just have been fouls and free kicks.
01 Oct 2025 13:28:09
JBS and I guess putting the red cards in some sort of context is reasonable. I personally did think the first challenge last night warranted a yellow card but his second challenge was reckless in today’s football. The Sanchez sending off was warranted and so was the Chalaboa red but there there were playing mistakes that led to both of those reds in my opinion.
Given our current injury issues the Chalaboa sending off could be particularly costly.
01 Oct 2025 13:45:19
Absolutely agree Tom, espically against a Luverpool team with something to proce.
01 Oct 2025 15:26:50
Tom
Going back to Guiu, he is a ST whereas George isn't yet he got picked aheadvof Guiu, how do you think it makes the young lad feel.
Did nobody ask Maresca if he would be bothered to play him?
01 Oct 2025 16:43:39
Bill, at the time of recalling Guiu I’m sure no one at the club envisaged the hostel reaction the Strasbourg fans would give there young CF when it was announced he would be joining us next season. I think it now seems likely that he will be joining in January.
We now all know about the three clubs in a season rule. So, if Guiu plays one minute for us he cannot go to Strasbourg and play. So unless there is an absolute emergency I can’t see him playing any minutes. So let’s not blame the manager for something that was largely out of his control.
When I found out this news I was totally surprised but I shouldn’t have been.
01 Oct 2025 18:13:42
Me neither Tom, me neither.
05 Oct 2025 18:52:55
So the theory of Guiu not playing any mins went out of the window very quickly.
01 Oct 2025 08:04:31
I wonder if Chelsea want to swap Guiu for Emegha in January? If Guiu even plays one second of football for us before then, he can't go to Strasbourg this season, because you can't play for 3 clubs in a season. Just a thought?

01 Oct 2025 09:32:17
Yes this may well be a possibility being contemplated I'd think RPD. Yes Guiu it seems will only play in an extreme emergency if at all - if a serious injury to Pedro perhaps though not cos of his red card suspension!? - and there have been those rumours of Emegha comin in January rather than in the Summer. But this does reveal big weakness in current squad until the New Year . when Delap should be back too but quite serious hamstring injuries often easily re-triggered.
George mot a striker and if anything should probably used ahead of Gittens but after Garnacho on the left wing imho.
01 Oct 2025 10:50:01
Going forward I think Guiu will play a part in the domestic cup competitions.
01 Oct 2025 12:50:31
You may be right Tom but not sure given rumour about how he might then not be able to be loaned out in January. But perhaps this rumour not true and does seem crazy to have him back at the clkub if he's not gong to be used at all except as last resort.
01 Oct 2025 13:30:01
JBS, another good point and I seem to remember a three team rule. Maybe he can go back to Sunderland?
01 Oct 2025 14:45:19
JBS, I think there is a three team rule but I’m not sure how it’s applied. Is it actually “playing” for three teams?
Also and I may be wrong, was Guiu eventually un cupped tied for league cup competition? If that makes sense.
01 Oct 2025 20:43:48
I think it's playing for three teams Tom. I guess he may have been cup tied in Carabao Cup?

Lets hope we win, 1-0 will do me and as you say JBS, let's keep all the 11 players on the pitch.
My worry is imagine the headlines tomorrow if Benfica and Jose beat us.
30 Sep 2025 10:21:43
JBS, totally, let's keep 11 players on the pitch! Nights like this is what football is all about for me, meeting your mates, a couple of pints and soaking it all in. I'm really not interested in stadium redevelopment, FOS sponsorship, FFP, who the owners are on any of that. Just turn up and watch the game and hopefully get the win.
30 Sep 2025 13:30:55

I still haven't seen yesterday's game but understandably the defeat has brought about another waive of EM sacked.
The range from, "clown, " "taxi for EM, " "sacked/ out of his depth, " "disgrace" along with many others. So far I haven't seen the dreaded "it couldn't get worse" comment.
I see nothing wrong with those opinions but I just happen to disagree with them. I had no problems being in a minority last season (better than my expectations) and I will have no problems being in a minority this season.

28 Sep 2025 13:01:59
Tom I think Maresca will be given this season at least - as he was given last season - unless the wheels come completely off over the next month or two. We have had a pretty dreadful start to the seazxon and my despairing comments about the last few results and especially the United debacle and Brighton second half shambles stem in large part from the higher expectations I had for this season because of how we ended the last one and especially the fine team performance v PSG in CWC final. Ok they lowered a bot when we didn't sign a very high quality and experienced CB when LC injury extent known and also when DElap injured and we'd already effectively sjhown NJ the door and Guiu clearly not seen as ready replacement. Pedro for me and many other someone who needs a more classic number 9 to play off if especially in the EPL.
But I'm with you on the 'it couldn't get worse' comment given these are still v early days and it would also be a matter ofr who could we be sure woud be better. I do expect quite a few fans will be singing the name Jodse Mourinho tomorrow night and more and more loudly if we look like losing or perhaps even drawing. I do think now there is a good chance we may be struggling to make top 4 and that if we don't the club may look at replacing EM. Like you I will continue to criticise him if I think he's got positions wrong, subs wrong, tactics wrong etc. But - if not nearly as yet to the extent that Poch was faced with - he has suffered injures to key players and I still want EM to pull things round of course as I want hime to put a string of good results together v soon starting with tomorrow night and a surprise result v Liverpool (who did after all lose to Palace. Glasner a fiture Blues boss if things go pear shaped this season? or .? ) .
So yes the doubts I harboured abot EM appointment have resurfaced, I think the first trophy he won was perhaps less difficult than us winnin the Full Members Cup back in 1986 (I think), and we had the luck of the draw in the CWC, and ain't beaten many top sides. but yes we got two trophies which was one more than I expected and the CWC showed how much the talent there was in our young squad and that can't have vanished. But EM is also the victim of his and the players' own success in that compoetition of course for reasons already stated many times. So I am still in the don't sack camp right now. NOt sure for how many months but hopefully til the end of the season!
28 Sep 2025 13:56:09
JBS, in my opinion a very enjoyable and well balanced post. Thank you!
28 Sep 2025 17:36:27
Thanks Tom. Not sure if you'll be there on Tuesday night but will be myself and report back! Surely we will put in a good performnce and pick up a win?! Mood will be very dark and chants for Jose given his presnce in the Benfica dugout probably very loud if we don't.
28 Sep 2025 18:51:19
JBS, I’m sorry to say I will not be there for the Benfica game and yet another Jose return.!
I am recovering from what I hope will be a rest of life changing procedure. So although Chelsea have tried to make me miserable, I’m feeling more positive health wise than I have in a long, long time.
28 Sep 2025 21:39:19
Hope all goes well Tom.
28 Sep 2025 21:58:29
Would be madness to sack Maresca at this point but such is the world of top level football anything could happen! Me and the boys had this chat after the game, who would come in and make a difference right now? The Bournemouth bloke? nope, would be another Potter, the Strassbourg bloke? see above, De Zerbi? do me a favour, the list goes on. With our squad all the issues will still be there so leave it alone, chill out and wait until the season ends. Pushed further a few went for Klopp but that won't happen. The rest of us said leave Maresca until the end of the season and then go for Lampard after he steers Coventry to promotion. Think about it and then think about what you wish for?
28 Sep 2025 22:32:26
Hope your recovery goes very well Tom and great to get this positive health report from you amid all the current gloomy CFC news.
29 Sep 2025 06:51:28
You are being very kind lads but honestly it’s about the most positive health news I’ve had in a long while.
29 Sep 2025 09:19:14
JBS, I agree mostly with your post. It was good to win those trophies last season but it doesn’t elevate us into being one of the Big Dogs in European football. For that to happen we will have to seriously challenge for titles and go deep into the Champions League. As for Maresca, I don’t rate him and do not believe he can take us to a higher level. That said, it is far too early to be talking about sacking him, I expect he will see the season out. All Chelsea coaches get sacked in the end, it’s always a question of when. I think the last Chelsea manager not to be sacked was John Neal who retired because of ill-health.
29 Sep 2025 12:02:35
Yes we are not yet one of the Big Dogs again in European football and I expect it will take a season or two more before we are. A great deal depends on ongoing transfer business getting us there. Statistically, apparently, the players on books matter more than the manager but we know that some managers can get ore than sum of parts out of players and other get that 10% more out already fine squad in terms of belief and effort.
Then there's the matter of leaders on the pitch and perhaps we don't have many/ enough of these in current starting lineup with young team. So I don't think many would argue that though a heck of good person and v decent player that Roberto di Matteo was a great manager. Yet the likes of Drogba, Lampard, Mikel, Cahill and Petr Cech gave a good leadership spine to the side . and Terry of course before being sent off v Barca. Then one can think of what Jose achieved in winning the ECL with Porto then Inter.
Interesting if John Neal was the last manager who left rather than being sacked. But didn't Sarri officially leave to become manager of Juventus rather than being formally sacked though there may have been a push factor? I'm not sure. Still cannot believe that we sacked Carlo A. after he'd won a double for us. just bat crazy. I must read his book.
29 Sep 2025 20:43:41
JBS, I totally forgot about Sarri, I think he wanted to go back to Italy for family reasons.
30 Sep 2025 07:33:04
Haven't seen either of the last two games would definately give the manager to the end of the season, our injury's at cente half are really hurting us.
One doesn't realise how good Colwill is until he isn't there.
Hopefully get a result tonight.
30 Sep 2025 07:57:14
Just out of interest, did Poch actually get the sack? Or was it a “mutually agreed” agreement?
30 Sep 2025 09:29:02
Tom I think the vote by SDs and one ofd the pwners was to get rid of Poch with TB against and the 'parting of the ways' ewas a polite way of saying he would have to go. But then this may also have been according to some because there was mutual disagreement about transfer strategy/ question of manager consultation or say in this.
30 Sep 2025 12:55:26
JBS, I can’t remember the process. In the back of my mind I thought he had a one year contract with an option and the so called “mutual” agreement was about not activating that option.
01 Oct 2025 08:02:25
Poch wasn't sacked.
28 Sep 2025 08:58:15
A question for ED01. Looking at yesterdays results, Palace beating Liverpool, Sunderland beating Forest, Brentford beating Utd, Wolves dominating Spurs, Brighton beating Chelsea etc do you think FFP and PSR are starting to level things out? or is the way coaching has now got so technical all the flair has gone from players and systems are winning matches?
{Ed001's Note - bit of both. There is a real problem with the game devolving into a tactical game of chess, with flair being coached out as it is not possible for a coach to control it. But the PSR regs have made the transfer windows messy and teams unable to build as they once could.}

28 Sep 2025 14:02:10
Thanks ED01 for your comments. It is a real shame that players are now becoming pawns in a game of chess between managers and coaches. I would love to see players given freedom to express themselves more.
28 Sep 2025 14:45:40
I doubt it was really accurate but apparently some managers just used to say “just give the ball him he is our best player. ”
I also seem to remember certain players given the “freedom to play anywhere. ”
I’m not a fan of FFP/ PSR.
28 Sep 2025 17:42:33
Well said RPD, Ed001 and Tom. There is probably nothing we fans like more - besides our team winning! - is seeing a flair player dazzling us with their skill. In premier league days this would have included only most obviously the likes of a Zola, Robben, Hazard and now a Palmer or Estevao. Yes, a player the manager will allow that 'freedom to play anywhere'
29 Sep 2025 10:31:51
JBS, yes I agree about flair players and giving them freedom but that’s not going to happen with Maresca, he is a systems man.
