Now I know michael emanelo gets a lot of stick on here with some coming from myself occasionally but making a £5.3 million profit on a player who played one minute for us is good, clearly he knew what he was doing when buying papy instead of Marquinhos or stones last summer ;)

Bye bye Papy. It was nice seeing your name spelt wrong regularly early last year.

Surprised by the amount. Whilst I know that the figures reported by the media don't include all associated costs, if we do believe them then we've gotten double what we paid for him.

8 million is a good deal for us now just to get rid of a few more.

He was okay for Bremen by all accounts to be fair. Solid midtable, but not good enough here. Good move for all, decent fee and he will get first team football.

Tammy Abraham has today joined Bristol City on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old striker is a Chelsea Academy product and a two-times winner of the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League. He made his first team debut against Liverpool at Anfield towards the end of last season and came on in our final home match against Leicester at Stamford Bridge.

An England Under-19 international, Abraham joins the Championship side as they start their season tomorrow at home to Wigan Athletic.

I really like the looks of Aina, expected mistakes of a young player aside, but does anyone else find it coinicidental that after all the speculation he was going to leave last year, and his finally signing a new contract recently, that he has now started all of our recent games, we have loaned out one of our fullbacks (which was already a thin area for us, I think most of us agree) and seemingly have no plans to buy another?
I wonder if it's Conte who rates Aina and doesn't see the need for another fullback, or whether there is pressure on him from the club hierarchy. What do you guys think?

I always believed he, along with some others, just needed an opportunity. Given our problems last season I'd have thought he'd have got his then but at least he saw the light and signed a new contract. Conte is the one who appears to be giving him that opportunity, hopefully he does the same with Chalobah and plays RLC in his natural position.

I really like the look of Aina I think he has all the attributes to be a quality full back and he seems to be getting along really well with Conte too. But I still think we only have two full backs in Azpilicueta and Aina I never want to see Ivanovic play again unless it's centrally as rotation. I'd like to see Aina be given the first choice RB role but I'd also still like to see us bring in an experienced full back for rotation preferably Lichsteiner.

Aina has certainly caught the eye this year and as one expects he makes youthful mistakes i e: trying to be too clever when he needs to get the ball clear. This is where Terry and Azi should come into their element, guiding him with his positional play and when to just get the ball away. I am also impressed with his control when going forward.

Yep let's spend 25 mil on a CB we are not even sure will start for us ever! Next year will spend another 25 mil trying to find another or we could just spend 50 now and have Koulabaly for next 8-10 yrs! Man we are never going to be back on top till we get this boardroom fiasco on transfer decisions solved at our club! CB is our glaring issue, it's about Terry passing the torch. What's the plan for next year? Wheel John back onto the field!

So Koulibaly, someone who we don't even know if he's good enough for us, is worth us forking out the reported sums?

Let the professionals do there job, they know what they're doing.

Amazing how good people are at spending fictitious money.

Maybe there was a typo in the opening sentence and it should have read: Yep let's spend 25 mil on a CB I've not seen play so I'm not sure will start for us?

I have to agree with you Chelsea for life, we done the same with wingers, pedro, shurle, salah, Moses, it seems our new tactic is instead of signing a quality player for 40-50 million we will sign 5 20 million pound players and hope 1 or 2 are any good, (if in doubt -loan them out)

Agree4 Disagree4

05 Aug 2016 09:23:21
If they were spending 50mil on him would you want him then. forget the money and get behind your team if we win lose or draw chelsea is all that matters me for one would be happy playing the youths and making them into 50mil players.

I am sure we all get behind our team win, lose or draw but they are in the EPL to win, maybe draw and minimize the losses and last seadon was a shock to most. The transfers in pre-season, the apparent lack of fitness and the malaise that infected the team all season, so nobody wants that again. One must assume Conte lives up to his reputation for working players hard so hopefully we will not have any fitness issues BUT there are glaring weaknesses in the team which have not been addressed as yet and that is where most of the frustration is coming from. Of course a team like us in our position are going to be vulnerable to blackmail prices but there are few players saying outright 'I want to join Chelsea' apart from possibly Lukaku and the price that 'appears' to be offered smacks of desperation to me.

C1915 that's exactly how I feel, the team has been rubbish for 18 months, and I can blatantly see we are weak in a few positions, I know there's over 3 weeks left of the window, but I honestly believe we won't be in the title race unless we make 2/ 3 top quality signings, and that's disheartening as a Chelsea supporter.

New breed of supporters. All they want to do is buy the very best and the most expensive players. Stick to football manager or Fifa if I were you.

CFC Adam if that post was aimed at me I can tell you I've supported Chelsea from 1997, I was 9 at the time I watched the Coke cup final I think, when dimatteo scored bar and in in the first minute ever since then I've been hooked probably to the bridge 30-40 times, and I swear on my sons life the last Fifa game I ever played was Fifa 98, now I think I state fair opinions, I haven't just woken up and thought of something, i believe we have been dreadful for 18 months, we've now had mourinho, hiddink and conte all in the last 9 months, so if we are not up to scratch surely it has to be the players? Or am I just being fickle? , or a pessimist? , I I think both Manchester clubs will pull away into a 2 horse race purely down to the signings theve made and will make, now how does wanting to sign 2/ 3 real top quality players regardless of there price make us a bad fan? , call me daft but I think the better the players the better the chance of winning a game of football? , if that wasn't aimed at me then I just wasted 5 minutes of my life writing this, but you shouldn't question people's support or passion just because they want to improve the squad.

Well said CFCAdam. I haven't been on here for a while as the negativity and current squad "player bashing"is brain numbing.

05 Aug 2016 14:45:40
The Christensen situation is not straight forward, catch 22, do we wait a year or 2 until he is ready and hope he becomes good enough? Or do we sign a player now because our current squad so desperately needs 1, but could possibly block his Chelsea future, but what if he's never going to be good enough at the highest level? Not easy decisions.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2016 16:20:52
How do you know he won't ever start for us? Has any of the people bashing the potential signing of Lindelof/ Mustafi actually watched either of them play a lot in order to actually base your criticism on. Or is it simply because they're not valued at £50m? Have any of you even watched Koulibaly enough that you can guarentee he'll be a success or are you again basing his perceived quality on his price?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2016 16:30:21
CFCAdam. A supporter long before you and there was no mention of spending big just wisely. That is something we did appallingly last year and this year we have bought two 'potentially' useful players but not addressed key areas that are glaring in the friendlies. I am sure you and similar will be the first to start moaning if we get five games in and dropped stupid points. We ALL want what's best for the club and nobody there will certainly be interested in our opinion but if you think this current team will be battling for the title this season then you are in for a massive disappointment.

05 Aug 2016 21:22:45
How do you know so much about me JCFC? Apparently!

Cat - was a general thing mate. Seems all the newish supporters just want us to spend £50m on new players every time. When put simply - that's not going to happen. And if they want it too, they should stick to FIFA and FM.

JCFC - Conte has obviously used the friendlies and the Tours to take stock of what he's got and what he needs. It was always going to be that case. He needed to get used to the players himself. Maybe as you've been a fan for many many years you should have known that! And he wasn't just going to go out and buy every good player. Think some players have surprised him maybe - Aina, Chalobah Spring to mind!

This squad won us the league before last mate, again you should know that! The whole season, starting from pre season was bad last year and got worse! This one we look hungry and ready to fight. We may not win the league but we'll go close. Stop being so negative.
