Eds, if our transfer ban remains, can we buy players and loan them out until our ban is over?

{Ed002's Note - No, Chelsea cannot register any new players that are not already notified on the FIFA TMS.}

1.) 15 Mar 2019 11:53:03
Could we do what (If I remember correctly) Athleti did with costa and buy someone but not register them and just have them train with the club then? Just our of interest. Also is the registering that we cannot do different from the registering for competitions then? Sorry for the stupid question Ed, just curious.

{Ed002's Note - The "registering" is notification of the transfer to FIFA via the TMS. Chelsea, if banned, cannot register new players for the duration of the ban - it is really, really simple to understand and I am surprised folks are struggling to understand this.}

2.) 15 Mar 2019 16:18:10
Ok, thanks Ed. Was just curious if we had any sort of workarounds that we could be following to be honest. Was hoping it wasn’t as simple as it sounded haha.
Cheers for clarifying.

{Ed002's Note - It is not complicated. Things may well change before the summer is out though.}

3.) 15 Mar 2019 21:08:18
The club is hoping to be able to appeal to CAS to delay the ban?

{Ed002's Note - What?}

4.) 16 Mar 2019 09:27:25
Court of Arbitration for Sport - CAS.

{Ed002's Note - I think it best you all just ignore this matter for now.}

27 Dec 2018 13:13:58
I have been mostly impressed with Rudiger this season but the difference that biting the bullet and spending big to get Koulibaly in would be immense (see Van Dijk and Liverpool's improvement) .

1.) 27 Dec 2018 18:23:07
MDW I agree with you on this, I envy Liverpool with Van Dirk. We really need a commanding presence in that backline. In as much as Luiz has been fantastic this season, he doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence as he's always going to make a telling mistake.

We need a quality center back with authority and leadership like Terry did. Koulibaly fits the bill and will make a mean defensive pair with Rudiger. The will give attackers to go all out knowing we atleast have cover behind.
May be too expensive for Chelsea considering how highly he's rated now but maybe the continuous racist abuse he's been getting in Italy could just make him want to leave for another league.

2.) 28 Dec 2018 02:56:39
Luiz is a leader but very hit and miss. I’d keep him as a back up but we still need a world class CB. We need to go all out for Koulibaly the mans insane. Chilwell for LB too.

3.) 28 Dec 2018 07:49:26
Luiz will go down as one of the better defenders that graced stamford bridge. Look no further than his trophy houl which don't lie. Media have always been on his back when he makes mistakes and more than others.

4.) 28 Dec 2018 10:55:51
Luiz was immense in Munich 2012 and many other big games. Has perhaps been more often in lesser games that he's had moments of switching off/ brain freeze, but no-one should doubt his footballing talent. But getting a really commanding cb like Van Dijk as DL successor must be one of our two or three top priorities (prolific/ confident/ strong striker obviously one of the others) . Had thought Christiansen would come through, but possibly not quite in that league (or yet)?

22 Dec 2018 17:33:01
A couple of weeks ago I posted that Sarri should go and was slated for posting it. The only reason that I don't think he should go now is the spectre of Mourinho lurking in the shadows. But I will say it again:

1. Kante is at best an average attacking midfielder but he is the best defensive midfielder in the World. To play Kante out of position to accommodate a half-arse possession theory is criminal;

2. If we are going to persist with a ball-playing deep midfielder, the perfect player for that is Fabregas who is a better passer than (and perhaps more mobile than amazingly) Jorghino - and Fabregas will give you 5 to 10 goals a season;

3. Having 75% possession and creating nothing is pointless (as we are today) ;

4. Sarri has never won a trophy and will not win anything major at Chelsea because he does not understand that possession is irrelevant without scoring goals (he may win the League Cup but who would really care! ) . Sarri and his tactics are much better suited to Italy -as soon as Mourinho is employed elsewhere, Sarri must be dismissed (along with whoever suggested him for the job) .

1.) 22 Dec 2018 20:06:01
I was at the game today and I actually thought Kante was outstanding as was Kovacic. Jorginho on the other hand was incredibly poor again, I agree with you that Kante needs to be moved back and played centrally at the expense of Jorginho. RLC needs to start from now on too.

2.) 22 Dec 2018 21:34:31
I care about winning ALL trophies.

3.) 22 Dec 2018 21:35:08
I’ll judge Sarri once he has a striker who isn’t mentally weak or slower than Mertesaker, a winger who contributes to goals and someone in midfield who can create and pop up with a goal every now and again, Willian offers nothing Pedro as I’ve said is inconsistent and today wasn’t great, kovecic just isn’t going to score this season, his up to 71 games without a goal, judging Sarri on a team that isn’t his. After not even half a season is a bit much.

4.) 22 Dec 2018 21:04:41
Rudi, Luiz, Kante and Kepa in my opinion all played well.

5.) 23 Dec 2018 00:14:35
Not going to win a lot without an out and out striker and we haven't got one simple as. Hazard one man show every week going forward.

05 Dec 2018 23:46:40
As the final whistle blows, Hazard has the ball on the left wing, Wolves have 9 players in their box, and we have 1 player in their box - Giroud marked by 8! Says everything I need to know - let me be the 1st to say it: we need to sack Sarri.

Sarri, like Conte before him, is a 1 trick pony - and his 1 tactic has been sussed already. Sarri has won nothing, not 1 trophy in football. Sarri has turned the best defensive midfielder in the World into a mediocre attacking midfielder. And he continually picks his nose!

1.) 06 Dec 2018 09:26:59
Sack a coach that is basically using another 3 to 4 coaches players?

Get a grip, seriously!

For years, all of us have been crying out for continuity with a coach/ manager and, you now want to sack a manager who hasn't had 1 full window to shape a team.

This post above has actually given me a headache!

2.) 06 Dec 2018 09:53:12
that above post is exactly why edd won't give anymore info on this page lost 2 games an people calling for d sack disgracefull.

3.) 06 Dec 2018 12:31:03
I see in the reply to my post neither of the responders have addressed the problems with Sarri. Why does he persist with Kante as an attacking midfielder? Why do we never have any other body in the box except Morata or Giroud? Why does Sarri persist with a left-back who can't defend? Why are we about to lose one of the most exciting young players to have come through the youth system because Sarri would rather stick with Willian?

Why can't or won't Sarri alter the system during play when it is obviously failing? Why do we have 70%+ possession but create so few chances? Why does Sarri remind me of Scolari? Why did we employ a manager who has won naught in his career? And, why does Sarri continually pick his nose?
If he's not good enough - get rid. He's not good enough.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 20:25:09
I responded to all these questions but it's not been posted!

5.) 08 Dec 2018 14:08:47
Even about the nose picking?

6.) 08 Dec 2018 15:21:03
Even about that. I said he'd forgotten his tissues!

{Ed0333's Note - not sure why your post wasn’t published mate apologies for that. more Pertinently I’m gonna be watching sarri pick his nose every time I watch Chelsea play. I suppose it’s a damn site more interesting than watching morata tho.

12 Nov 2018 12:42:46
The silver lining from yesterday's failure to win is that we can start being honest with ourselves and concentrate on 3rd / 4th place. We were never going to win the league - Sarri is right, we are miles behind City and a couple of laps behind Liverpool. We have to aim to win our mini league of us, Spurs, Arsenal and Man United - and Man United losing and Arsenal drawing yesterday was far more important for us than Man City and Liverpool winning.

1.) 12 Nov 2018 17:48:33
That is spot on, to be honest we are doing better than anticipated, if we can get rid of Lomé deadwood and get a couple in the jan window. Then see where we end up. We are defending better but I’m sure we can do better still. If the truth be known if not for piCKford we would have won easily yesterday. However in the past we would of lost those sort of games. Leo onwards and upwards.
Only slight disagreement is I’m not sure how good Liverpool are, I think city are away again. Bu
T we could catch the scousers. If we did I wonder how patient they would be with Klopp then.

2.) 12 Nov 2018 20:14:50
Please don't call the fringe players deadwood, it's disrespectful. Any player who wear the Chelsea jersey, should be supported and respected, no matter whether or not they are good enough for the first time.

10 Mar 2019 14:54:57
Half-time. A very well-drilled packed Wolves defence - but we do make it difficult for ourselves by playing 3 midfielders all of whom are loathe to enter the opposition penalty area.

1.) 10 Mar 2019 20:10:04
And the godfather (Sarri) decides to make a tactical substitution today. Hurrrahhb (Willian for Jorginho) .

08 Mar 2019 11:45:16
Inexorably, as is the way with such things, it looks like we're heading for a Sarri v Napoli showdown in the EUFA Cup.

04 Mar 2019 22:31:35
Just over a week ago, the Pochettino loving media were talking about Spurs being in the title race. If we win our missed home game against Brighton, we will be 2 points behind Spurs. Does that mean that we're in the title race?

26 Jan 2019 18:46:52
If the rumours are true that Bayern have now offered £40m for CHO, surely we should take the money:

1) for a player that wants to leave;

2) for an 18 year old who is just potential at the moment?

1.) 26 Jan 2019 19:59:13
he handed in a transfer request.

2.) 26 Jan 2019 20:07:30
what I don't get is . he is going to have the same problem at Munich this year. there is top class in front of him until the end of the year.
same as chelsea. hazard may leave and Pedro. and Willian haven't got long left.
for someone who has spend his whole career so far at Chelsea and has only turned 18 and in the first team squad . I think. is showing lack of respect. theses youngsters want everything yesterday. bring back only school footballers . cleaning boots and learning there trade. players have to much power.

rant over.

3.) 26 Jan 2019 20:43:10
Let him go and play in an awful league.

12 Jan 2019 22:30:43
The best thing about today's game was watching Sean Longstaff in Newcastle's midfield - a great performance by the 21 year old - puts our overpaid nancys to shame.

1.) 12 Jan 2019 22:57:49
So pleased your a fan of our players!

2.) 13 Jan 2019 00:02:52
Support your own team mate. What's wrong with our set of fans. There is no pleasing!

3.) 13 Jan 2019 01:14:43
I Only see you post when we have a bad performance which unfortunately has been a lot this season.

4.) 13 Jan 2019 02:01:15
MDW is probably not even a Chelsea fan. I've got my reservations over him. Mr negative.

5.) 13 Jan 2019 12:19:58
What a lot of nonsense:
1. I have been a season-ticket holder since the 80s

2. I posted before yesterday's game and made a point of saying so in my post (I was proved correct - again!)

3. What is wrong with admiring a young player on his debut just because he happens to be playing for the opposition (for the record, I thought Dele Ali's performance against us the other night was brilliant - shoot me!)

4. I actually posted how well I thought we had played after the Spurs game (and I was there)

5. Boos from all sections of the ground yesterday - perhaps it is the majority of pro-Sarri posters on this site who are in the minority of Chelsea fans!

6.) 13 Jan 2019 13:06:20
MDW you have put together a reasonable post.

So please tell me how calling our players “overpaid nancy’s“ is is ANYWAY constructive.

7.) 13 Jan 2019 14:32:56
TomB, ok, I accept that the 'nancys' remark was flippant but it was in peed-off response to having just sat through another 90 minutes of sideways passing and a continued lack of a coherent attacking policy aimed at breaking down a deep lying opposition defensive wall.

As you yourself have said, there are ever increasing rumblings of discontent from the MH (where I sit btw - we probs know each other by sight) and the problem I have with Sarri is that he seems incapable of doing anything to improve the attacking situation. It was pointed out by another poster and MotD, that there was a situation in the game yesterday where our 2 full-backs were both in the opposing penalty area but none of our other players were anywhere near! Whose fault is this if it is not the manager's?

Yes, I totally accept that we need a better striker but that does not excuse Sarri leaving Giroud on the bench for so long when it was obvious to most of us that our attack was crying out for a focal point (in yesterday's game and against Spurs) - you can also see from Hazard's body language that he is not happy playing through the middle. I also don't understand Sarri's post-match interview saying Jorginho was struggling but we had no replacement - Ampudu? Luiz into midfield and Christensen or Ampudu on in defence? Kante played in his proper position / Barkley on? Kovacic tried in deep playmaker role (which I believe would be his best position)?

In my pre-match post yesterday, I responded to your post about Sky sports pre-match comments from Phil Thompson with the comments of Paul Merson (famously a Chelsea fan) - Merson criticised the tactical nous of Sarri and I have to agree - possession without creation is pointless - and saying that Napoli played at a much higher tempo is not an excuse, why doesn't Sarri get the team to play at a higher tempo! Merson also pointed out that Kante should be the left-sided midfielder to add cover to the defensive weakness of Alonso and Luiz - a simple tactical change but one that has obviously eluded Sarri.

These, and many others, are the reasons why I do not consider Sarri a good enough manager for Chelsea - and I should not be criticised for making them.
Ps Like you, TomB, I do not believe that 31 year old Higuain at £40m is the answer (although for different reasons! ) but, also like you, if Higuain does come in he will have my full support and I will hope and pray that he is the answer and that I am wrong.

8.) 13 Jan 2019 15:08:36
If players took their chances yesterday we could easily won 4-1 if not more. Willian and pedro wasted some golden opportunities.

9.) 13 Jan 2019 15:17:56
Good post MDW.

10.) 13 Jan 2019 19:36:06
whose fault is it that the players aren't in the box? How is that the managers? He's not controlling them with playstation controllers . He isn't the one who crosses the white line at the end of the day, he isn't the one doesn't move or show for the ball when we are in possession. He isn't the one who only has 1 foot, cuts inside making it even more congested and then tries a fancy flick for a pass, he isn't the one who was clear through on goal and missed opportunities. He's told the board what he wants, hardly his fault that they are taking their time in singing these players. Think you and a lot of other fans need to get off Sarri's back. Yes we don't have a focal point upfront where we can clip a ball into and hold up, or a winger who actually shows for the ball or is clever enough to get into space. We lack a Dele Ali, Eriksen sort of player, we massively lack a Harry Kane sort of striker. With those sort of signings, we're not that far away. But until we sign those calibre of players, we have to support the likes of Willian, Pedro, Giroud etc. And if you think the so called youth are the answer i'm afraid you are wrong. Not one player whose come through in recent years has gone on to be someone we've regretted selling, not one. RLC - is he becoming too injury prone?
CHO - player with a LOT of potential, but being mis-guided off the pitch won't help him, didn't with Solanke neither. Should let his football do the talking etc.

Also have to remember that this is Sarri's first real window to have his say, he came in late, had many many players missing for a long period of time and where we are at the moment isn't too bad in all fairness. If the board wanted him badly as they claimed, they should go all out for his targets.

11.) 13 Jan 2019 19:51:47
ChelseaLRD, Newcastle missed 3 sitters in the 1st half yesterday (Rondon, Atsu, Perez), so they could have gone in at half-time 4-1 up!

Callum Hudson-Odoi will tonight become one of the youngest England players ever. He has taken some part in 19 first team competitive matches this season. He was only 18 in November, 4 months ago. He will start a lot more games next season. He is still only 'potential' (Walcott played for England at 17 and everyone was raving about him being the next superstar! ) . Whoever is advising him needs a kick upside their head.

I would imagine that he will wait until the summer to decide whether to sign or not depending on Hazard / Pedro / Manager departures and any new signings (for example, if we were to sign Pepe I think CHO would leave) .

The thing that is overlooked is that Hazard's family (wife Natacha and 3 sons) are settled and happy in the UK. The oldest boy is 9 this year and has grown up in England and has a friendship group established in London. The second boy has just started school. Hazard may well leave for Madrid but the decision will be based on family rather than Hazard's childhood adoration of Zidane.

Mrs Costa, lol, Sarri's in the altogether, a perfect analogy for Sarri-ball.

"Look at Sarri! Look at Sarri! Look at Sarri, Sarri, Sarri!
Sarri is in the altogether, but altogether, the altogether
He's altogether as naked as the day that he was born
Sarri is in the altogether, but altogether, the altogether
It's altogether the very least Sarri has ever worn"

Summon the court physician! Call an intermission!
Sarri is wide open to ridicule and scorn.

Sarri is in the altogether, but all together, the altogether,
He's altogether as naked as the day that he was born
And it's altogether too chilly a morn!

But the problem is that, while the Regista position may work in Italian football where teams tend to sit back, in the high tempo, high-press Premiership the Regista gets swamped by the opposition - and Sarri seemingly refuses to accept this and adapt accordingly. My problem with Sarri is that he has no Plan B (much like Theresa May) .

Agreed TomB - I can't imagine that we would buy more than 2 'big' signings in any circumstance and perhaps a player in exchange for Hazard. To be honest, I am ambivalent whether the ban is imposed or not - if not, it will force us to seriously consider a few youngsters - Aina, James, Abraham, Ampudu, Dasilva, Tomori, Chalobah, Sterling, even Bakayoko, Batshuiyi, and Zouma.
