Favourite player: Drogba

Best team moment: Obviously, the Champions League victory ranks as number one, which it probably does with everyone else. A more unique favourite moment was when Fabregas produced THAT amazing assist to Andre Schurrle. At that moment you knew that team would become very, very special.

Poch has just signed an extension. Guess he was never really an option, but no doubt he'd been an excellent choice. Really hope clearance is provided soon!

Could any of you Eds perhaps shed a light on what happened Wednesday night in regards to Chelsea's managerial situation? Would be highly appreciated!

EmilSC

{Ed001's Note - no sorry, I don't know.}

1.) 18 May 2018 16:04:00
Fair, one cannot know everything ;)

{Ed001's Note - sadly no. I wish I could though!}

2.) 18 May 2018 20:03:47
Apparently it could seriously be Poch to Chelsea. I'd be very surprised and confused though.

3.) 19 May 2018 09:59:29
Where did you hear the from Jackson?

4.) 19 May 2018 19:11:55
Apparently some guy claims it on twitter. Probably not true, but it's strange that it's even being touted as a possibility.

10 Mar 2018 18:22:22
We definately need to start Zappa against Barca! Always gives his all, and quite a threat offensively, too!

EmilSC

1.) 11 Mar 2018 09:25:22
agree . I prefer him too. not as physically strong but for me can offer more. more games he plays the more consistent and better he will get.

Hey ED. I'm not sure if this is one of the questions that you don't like, but hopefully that isn't the case - at least, it isn't my intention to waste your time. But seeing how other teams such as City and United are already bringing in some solid reenforcements, could you perhaps provide some information about Chelsea nearing any deals? Perhaps drop a few names as Well? I understand if it's not possible, I was just hoping for some Nice updates after yesterday's dissapointment!
Regardless - you have yourself a nice Day - take Care!

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - There is no way for me to try and anser questions about the ti,img of transfers.}

1.) 28 May 2017 14:01:43
Okay, I understand - and Sorry to bother, I'just struck by some mean hangovers and thought you might have some uplifting news 😉.

{Ed002's Note - There is always uplifting news Emil - summer is just about here, the butterflies are out.....}

2.) 28 May 2017 16:23:08
News of Bakayoko and Naby Keita signing for Chelsea would be more welcome than 30 degrees outside while I have to prepare for exams though :P.

11 Nov 2016 12:21:21
Hello Ed. I was just wondering if you could provide an update on these (or at least just some of them) players that I've seen linked with a move to Chelsea (some more realistic than others) :
Javier Pastore, Kasper Dolberg, Moussa Dembele (Celtic), Bazoer, Kondogbia and Niklas Sule.
I'll understand it if you haven't got the time!
Have a nice weekend :)

EmilSC

{Ed002's Note - There will be an update fairly soon.}

No rush, Ed, we all know you're busy :-) But I am certainly looking forward to it. Your info is the best.

This is one of those nights, where I can imagine why some people might go on to be bad fans, blaming the players. I will however refrain from that.
Think Willian played a really good game. So did Tomori, Kovacic, Jorginho, AC, Tammy and Alonso in my opinion. Such a shame that Kovacic comitted that free kick, wasn't really needed.
Something needs to be sorted out between the management and the players as to who the designated penalty kick taker is. Think it should be Jorginho, regardless of Barkleys shot today, and I was shocked to see that he wasn't the one taking it.
Not sure what happened in that situation, but nevertheless, team mates should never argue over something like that, and in Barkley's defense, it isn't exactly reassuring that a team mate wants to take the kick and doesn't seem to believe that you'll score. I think that leaves a pretty nasty stain on the match, at least here 5 minutes after it.
In general it's a night of frustration that we didn't beat a team that, although it's a good team, we seemed to outplay in the periods where we really seemed up to it. However some positives, Tomori stands out especially to me.
On a final note, let's hope Mount isn't too badly injured. Sorry about the lenght of this post, also.

EmilSC

1.) 17 Sep 2019 22:40:24
I would have love to see Barkley try to take a penalty away from Lampard or Eden Hazard.

He should have respected Jorginho as the penalty kick taker. There is a reason why Jorginho is the taker.

Every player was surprised by his actions today, uneccessary pressure created for no reason. Was he trying to prove a point because he hasn't played enough games this season? Emotions should be set aside in situations like this. I knew Barkley was missing as soon as he did what he did. Similar situation occurred at utd recently.

I'm sure Lampard will show him the rule book today. Good luck to the guy in saving his career at the club. his up against it.

2.) 17 Sep 2019 22:40:54
IMO Emil you have produced a well balanced post.

If Frank picks Alonso he has to pick Tamori next to him.

3.) 18 Sep 2019 00:51:41
Lampard is clearly learning on the job.

25 Jun 2019 06:32:48
Had a thought that might be stupid, but nevertheless it makes sense to me. I think we should buy Pepe and loan him back to Lille for the next season if we can't register him the next two transfer windows. He's claimed previosly that he'd like to play here, and that he'd like to play in the Champions League. Well, Lille are qualified this season, so perhaps he might be content with staying another season and then join a club he seems to like? Surely Chelsea should at the very least explore the option :)

EmilSC

1.) 25 Jun 2019 10:07:36
I don't think we can do this. To loan a player out you presumably have to register them yourselves first.

{Ed002's Note - You are correct.}

2.) 25 Jun 2019 10:12:33
Let's get Hudson Odoi to sign a new deal first, more will happen.

3.) 25 Jun 2019 10:42:27
All hypothetical Ed but what about any deal similar to that of Keira joining Liverpool a year after it being announced or was that again a matter of him being loaned back for a season? Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - He was not registered nor loaned back.}

4.) 25 Jun 2019 14:04:29
Oh, I stand corrected then. Hypothetically, would it then be possible to sign a player, only where the transfer is decided to go through July 1st 2020? If it's not possible, you can just feel free to delete this comment :)

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea cannot "sign" any players if a ban is in place so they cannot be registered. They could do what Barcelona did and pay for Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan and not register them (leaving them to train but not play until the ban was over. Why is this so difficult to understand?}

5.) 25 Jun 2019 14:13:24
Bandy204, I thought Athletico Madrid did such deal when they got Vitolo?

{Ed002's Note - No. The Vitola transfer was pre-agreed.}

6.) 25 Jun 2019 15:27:26
Ed why wouldn’t Chelsea not try and sign players with ban frozen, they’ve either lose appeal and have two window ban or win appeal and no punishment, surely nothing to lose in at least giving frank and staff all the help they can, considering we have lost hazard and in need of a striker, unless ban being frozen isn’t possible,

{Ed002's Note - Because it is a particularly stupid thing to do. Or maybe it will turn out as well as Aleix Vidal and Turan at Barcelona - how many players are going to be willing to have their careers disrupted by a year of not playing?}

7.) 25 Jun 2019 16:04:31
No I don’t mean sign players who can’t play, I mean from what I read and posted perviously, article by Jake Cohen that fifa rejecting Chelsea having ban frozen until appeal heard and determined would be a big big surprise. Why don’t chelsea ask for ban to be frozen, have a window to be able to register players and wait for results of appeal. The punishment is a two window ban either way, why not give us one window to prepare? Unless I’m mistaken on ban being frozen being possible.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure I understand the first sentence. I don't want to go into the rest of it Matt.}

8.) 25 Jun 2019 16:25:12
Ok no worries, was meaning why not push for ban to be frozen until appeal heard,

{Ed002's Note - I understand Matt, thanks. As I said, I don't want to get in to that.}

9.) 25 Jun 2019 18:46:45
Matt,

I'm pretty sur ethat all of the articles you are reading are speculation. Therefore, who's to say Chelsea won't apply for the ban to be frozen. the window opens soon and I'd not be surprised if Chelsea didn't make the application once everything else is in place (manager / DOF. )

Ed is not about to reassure your worries (with good reason) so just wait until next week before jumping to conclusions.

10.) 25 Jun 2019 20:17:36
Well, the reason that I thought we could do it, was because I thought that was what Atletico did. It makes sense now, thank you! :)

11.) 26 Jun 2019 13:26:53
Nath,

I hope so, just not good at moment seeing jovic, rodrygo ndombele de Ligt all linked or close to moves and we standing still. BUT like mention we have Petr role and Lampard to sort and get in place before anything else.

09 Jun 2019 11:53:00
Read somewhere that Suso is available because Milan needs to raise funds for as low as £40m. Not sure if the price is correct and if he actually is available, but it would surely be a very good price for a player who be a decent replacement for Hazard! As far as I recall, I believe Ed 01 mentioned him as a good replacement about a year ago, and I think he's homegrown as well!
No we're not allowed to buy as of now, and apparently they need to sell before june 30 according to the report, but if we'd be allowed to buy him, surely it'd be a good acquisition!

EmilSC

{Ed001's Note - he has a lovely left foot on him and worked really hard as a youngster at Liverpool. He would have been perfect in the Klopp style but unfortunately we had Rodgers then who couldn't spot the lad's talent so got rid.}

1.) 10 Jun 2019 01:29:26
Suso is a great player. Id take him.

2.) 10 Jun 2019 11:44:57
Ed001, what are your thoughts on Brendan Rodgers?

{Ed001's Note - good coach terrible manager who constantly takes the credit for everything good but refuses to take any of the fault for things that go wrong.}

3.) 11 Jun 2019 03:03:49
Not good personality traits then.

{Ed001's Note - no, he also has no idea how to organise a defence. Both Liverpool and Celtic's defence deteriorated over his time there. I wouldn't let him pick a player to sign either, he has no eye for a defender in particular. He will start off well as he is enthusiastic and the players like a fresh training routine etc. However it will gradually trail off until he is sacked or jumps ship.}

21 May 2019 12:01:30
No less than anostonishing that UEFA has chosen to have the Europa League final in a country where one of the players can't travel to because of security concerns, not to mention all the other laughable problems with that decision. I honestly think both teams should withdraw, but I guess Arsenal wouldn't do that since a CL spot is on the line for them. Wouldn't even mind if we chose to withdraw from the tournament, since this final is just turning out to be a farce.

Watching the Dortmund game today, and I think Pulisic has been playing really well. As far as I can understand, he's been performing well lately in general, hopefully he'll join us on a high and keep momentum. Think he'll be really exciting!

EmilSC

1.) 11 May 2019 17:10:19
Biggest plus is that he comes to us fit and healthy.

2.) 11 May 2019 23:55:13
I’m excited for the future with Pulisic and CHO. Both exciting young wingers with high ceilings. But if Hazard goes we need a class replacement. I’d try for Sane but unlikely so then it’s got to be either Pepe or Ziyech as they both contribute goals and assists. Pedro would be a quality 4th choice for the squad but I’d personally cash in on Willian for 30 million plus while we can.

3.) 12 May 2019 07:57:42
Well, as Ed’ve said Insigne is available, he sure does seem like the ideal replacement, although I agree that especially Pepe would be a great addition.
All of this might be irrelevant if we can’t buy players though.

4.) 12 May 2019 11:29:10
Tbh, my confidence in CHO staying is being watered-down daily with the unending stories that I read everyday about him still wanting to join Bayern Munich (despite the club's effort to keep him) .

5.) 13 May 2019 23:22:57
Tbh, my confidence in CHO being watered-down every day with the unending stories that I read everyday about him still wanting to join Bayern Munich (with all the club is trying to do so that he can stay) . Besides I think Ed002 was right about him (needing to still learn a lot to become the top player that we all expect him to be) - his performances in some games (2-3games) before his injury is evident to that.

Also, how badass is it to have so much information that you know of two players the club wouldn't want named. You must have some really great sources, Ed! :)
Hope you're well :)

I must say that I do agree that it seems like Cahill hasn't been used properly as a leader, I thought you meant on the pitch about him. I genuinely don't see how Drinkwater would've added anything positive to the team, and while I agree that you could've wanted more from Kovacic and Barkley, I don't see Drinkwater as the man who'd brought that.
Saying that Sarri cannot adapt it quite simply wrong in my opinion. He changed his tactics in some of the big games, and that change of tactics led to City's first loss this season. However, I do agree, that he should have taken more risks against weaker teams.
He also got sent off against Burnley, but I guess that doesn't show passion.
Yes, I'd rather have a manager who gives a team something to celebrate - good results - than a manager who doesn't bring in the same results, but then celebrates with the fans whenever he does. Sure, I'd rather have both, but I genuinely believe a guy like Lampard wouldn't have been able to bring the same results this season, and that he wouldn't be able to bring in the results the next season as Sarri would if we stick with him.

I can simply not agree with what you're writing, Adam. Drinkwater has never been nowhere good enough for our club, and it would be no less that foolish from Sarri to use him. Wasn't like Conte used him a lot either. Cahill is simply not fit to play in this system, and in general his level wasn't good enough last season either. He lost possession often, wasn't quick enough to make up for it and was often a liability to our defence. While I do think he could've played more, I also think playing AC or Ampadu would've been more correct.

Sure, Sarri hasn't been to a youth game, and he hasn't given any youth players a debut. However, he's the manager who's played our academy players the most by far in the last many years, if you exclude Terry which I'll allow myself to do.
Also, you say Sarri doesn't show passion? A man who reportedly spent 45 minutes after the City and Bournemouth games, telling the players just how disappointed he was. A man who almost went out the tunnel in the cup final out of pure anger. In my eyes, Sarri has a lot of passion. He may not show it the same way that managers like Klopp or Conte does, but celebrating with the fans doesn't mean that you're necessarily a good manager. And I'd rather have a manager who doesn't celebrate with the fans but tries to bring in a way more attractive way of football that's completely different from what we're used to, and at the same time gets results that every single rationally thinking Chelsea fan should've been more than pleased with before the season began.

By the way this is not me saying that you shouldn't be allowed to criticise Sarri, I guess I'm just extremely disappointed that he might not be our manager next season. Rant over.

Really don't know what to think about this whole situation. Trying to put myself in Pulisic' situation, it must be so frustrating to see a player like Mount, who is not originally a winger, keeping him out of the team, Callum seemingly overtaking him although he is three years younger and has been out for a few months, and then Willian and Pedro who are both aging and yet seem to be ahead in the picking order as well, leaving Pulisic as fifth choice.
However, Mount and Willian both seem to be playing better right now, and Callum also seems to be making a really nice impact when subbed on - but one could argue that Pulisic might have done the same, given the chance.
However, all these players are used to the league, except for Mount, but he's played so well. In reality, the only player Mount can really be disappointed about being behind in the pecking order is Pedro right now, and look at the things that man's won. In all honesty, only very few players that've turned 21 one month ago would be ahead of Pedro in the pecking order.
The only thing Pulisic can do is work hard, and if he's willing to do that, he should have the talent to become a very good player for us.
I haven't seen too much of him before his transfer to us, but Ed 01 has continuesly mentioned that he's got a very good work ethic. I am sure everything will work out - right now the biggest problem seems to be brought by the media.

I don't really think it should be Azpilicueta as the left back. Azpilicueta will play plenty of games this season, and there's no reason to play him at a position he hasn't played for multiple seasons. Also, we've all seen his offensives qualities on the right side of the pitch. Don't get why you'd ever want to see him on the left, since I think he might be even worse offensively in that side ;)

On the note of Pulisic not playing - it just sometimes happens when players changes from a foreign league to the English. Also, he is quite young still.
Look at Fabinho's first season in England, where he barely played at first, because he was still getting used to the league. That's worked out really well for them :)
