Hi Ed. I was wondering if you would perhaps shine a light on Barkley and the plan's we've got for him? In my opinion he isn't good enough for us, seems too unprofessional and with RLC coming back and Gallagher perhaps getting a chance next season, I can't see the reason in him staying - at least after the summer.
So yeah, just wondering if you can tell anything about our plans with him? :)

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any "plans" being in place with respect to Ross Barkley but there have been two recent incidents that are completely unprofessional, and that is something the club take very seriously. When he arrived at Chelsea he came with the reputation of being a bonehead and someone took responsibility for making sure that was in the past - and until recently he has behaved reasonably well. That situation has now changed and, as you say, with others (including Gallagher and Loftus-Cheek) who will be looking for a chance next season his opportunities may well be reducing and Chelsea will listen to any offers.}

1.) 01 Dec 2019 18:38:39
Thanks Ed2. Brilliant insight.

2.) 01 Dec 2019 20:07:11
Yeah thanks a lot!

3.) 01 Dec 2019 20:11:44
It’s always a shame and it certainly frustrates other players and fans who haven’t got his sort talent. It’s such a waist. I hope he can turn it around.

4.) 01 Dec 2019 23:05:25
He's going to look back on his career with so much regret. He could have been special. A top prospect who hasn't even scraped the barrel of what he could have offered.

5.) 01 Dec 2019 23:31:39
Good question emill took a punt on him not sure it's worked out shamne really
And if someone else had taken that pen.

24 May 2018 17:02:42
Poch has just signed an extension. Guess he was never really an option, but no doubt he'd been an excellent choice. Really hope clearance is provided soon!

18 May 2018 11:46:56
Could any of you Eds perhaps shed a light on what happened Wednesday night in regards to Chelsea's managerial situation? Would be highly appreciated!

{Ed001's Note - no sorry, I don't know.}

1.) 18 May 2018 16:04:00
Fair, one cannot know everything ;)

{Ed001's Note - sadly no. I wish I could though!}

2.) 18 May 2018 20:03:47
Apparently it could seriously be Poch to Chelsea. I'd be very surprised and confused though.

3.) 19 May 2018 09:59:29
Where did you hear the from Jackson?

4.) 19 May 2018 19:11:55
Apparently some guy claims it on twitter. Probably not true, but it's strange that it's even being touted as a possibility.

10 Mar 2018 18:22:22
We definately need to start Zappa against Barca! Always gives his all, and quite a threat offensively, too!

1.) 11 Mar 2018 09:25:22
agree . I prefer him too. not as physically strong but for me can offer more. more games he plays the more consistent and better he will get.

28 May 2017 12:07:05
Hey ED. I'm not sure if this is one of the questions that you don't like, but hopefully that isn't the case - at least, it isn't my intention to waste your time. But seeing how other teams such as City and United are already bringing in some solid reenforcements, could you perhaps provide some information about Chelsea nearing any deals? Perhaps drop a few names as Well? I understand if it's not possible, I was just hoping for some Nice updates after yesterday's dissapointment!
Regardless - you have yourself a nice Day - take Care!

{Ed002's Note - There is no way for me to try and anser questions about the ti,img of transfers.}

1.) 28 May 2017 14:01:43
Okay, I understand - and Sorry to bother, I'just struck by some mean hangovers and thought you might have some uplifting news 😉.

{Ed002's Note - There is always uplifting news Emil - summer is just about here, the butterflies are out.....}

2.) 28 May 2017 16:23:08
News of Bakayoko and Naby Keita signing for Chelsea would be more welcome than 30 degrees outside while I have to prepare for exams though :P.

With Willian and Pedro both looking almost certain to leave and Ziyech coming in, perhaps we should not be looking too far away for a new winger. With Ziyech poised to be part of the starting eleven and Pulisic and CHO both providing good competition, perhaps we should look at Kenedy as a suitable replacement for Pedro. Kenedy, I believe, used to play as a right winger back in Brazil, and - just like Pulisic and CHO (I don't know about Ziyech) - he should therefore be able to play on either side. I have always thought that Kenedy has performed decently for us whenever given the chance, so if he would want to prove that he can actually play for a club like Chelsea - even if just a substitute - it would be a great chance for him, I think.
The question remains, though, if he would want to be our backup. That I do not know, but what I do know is that I think he would be an adequate replacement for the wingers that are most likely leaving us, and sticking with him rather than buying a new player might save us some money?
What do you guys think? :)

1.) 06 Apr 2020 11:30:22
I think Willian may still stay EmilSC, he likes London and common sense says keep either one of Willian or Pedro. As you rightly say, Ziyech, Pulisic and Cho are top players and likely to be competing for 2 starting places. If Willian and Pedro do leave then Kenedy is a good shout though.

2.) 06 Apr 2020 12:33:06
Willian appears intent on sticking to his three year contract demand. He should be happy we offered two, but won't take it and will move on.

I think Pedro might stay to add experienced backup to the other three.

{Ed002's Note - Pedro is not staying and the situation with Willian is not as clear cut as you suggest.}

3.) 07 Apr 2020 09:44:59
Willian and Pedro out, sign Sancho our starting winger for 10 years with pulisic and Hudson-Odoi on the other wing. Simples.

4.) 07 Apr 2020 10:20:21
I don’t think Sancho will be joining us. I think we have done our wide player business.

I think there will be three players signed and at least two will be naturally left footed.

5.) 07 Apr 2020 12:27:27
I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Sancho have another year at Dortmund.

6.) 07 Apr 2020 12:30:53
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing teams trying to deal with Ziyech cutting in from the right whilst James overlaps.

If we can have Mount and / or Loftus-Cheek making well timed runs forward too then it's going to be an absolute nightmare for opposition defences.

As the window is starting to reach its end this will probably be a very, very busy times for all of the Eds on these pages.
In particular, Ed01 and Ed02 have both been really kind to answer a lot of questions, not only on this site but on many of the others. Some questions better than others, but nonetheless taking their time to answer.
For that, I would like to thank all of the Eds for putting in what must be a LOT of time and for making this site what it is.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

1.) 29 Jan 2020 10:27:03
Here here. Ed002/ Ed001 I remember there used to be a link to donate to site upkeep somewhere, any chance you could share it?

{Ed033's Note - The donation button is towards the upper part of this page, under search and above the drop down menus to our other sites.

Probably an incredibly unpopular opinion, but I think we should have kept Bakayoko with us this season.
Most people think he was awful for us, and I do agree that he had a lot of very bad matches. However, in my opinion, he was always a beast in the big games. Perhaps another Chelsea coach would be able to motivate him more? Also his famous relationship with Makelele should have been taken advantage of, IMO.
I know that it's not a possibility to take him back right now, and probably something that many would disagree with, but I think our midfield could use some brute force a few times this season :)
But I must admit that I always liked Bakayoko, so I'm quite biased :)
Anyways - have a nice weekend guys!

1.) 24 Jan 2020 08:36:04
Not an unpopular opinion to me EmilSC cos I posted this same thing.

2.) 24 Jan 2020 10:18:51
I haven't seen that then Obinna, but happy to hear that I'm not the only one with this idea. I get that Bakayoko often had bad games last season, but people seem to forget that he also had some really good games for us, especially the bigger games!

3.) 25 Jan 2020 08:46:38
I really believed he would come good gor us once signed. But you have to admit he was (most of games) completely lost and just well below the par.

Think we did right to move him on.

{Ed001's Note - he didn't get given the time to turn around a bad start. It takes some players longer to adapt than others. Bakayoko never got the chance to even try and adapt and the fans had already made their mind up.}

4.) 25 Jan 2020 10:07:54
EmilSC; these are some of my previous post on Bakayoko:

I have to confess that Bakayoko is disappointing me. I still have high hopes for him, maybe the club should see if Makalele can get him firing.

Weakness in defensive midfield is the exact reason why I think Bakayoko shouldn't be shipped out in a hurry.
But Jorginho should be in the squad all day long.

Chelsea will need depth in the squad, considering how other teams are fortifying their squad. If the club isn't moving to freeze the ban which I guess is late; and if Bakayoko and Batshuayi staying- will not attract any 'penalties', I STRONGLY subscribe that we keep Bakayoko and Batshuayi this season and not take wild risk. We can't profit or gain all round considering the situation that we find ourselves in.

Hi Ed.
I know you must know a lot about Chelsea's youth team since you've been able to talk about a young promising left back in Ian Maatsen.
This lead me to wonder if one of the reasons that we seem to be willing to sell Giroud is perhaps because the club has got plans about using a player from within the club as cover for the striker position if one of Tammy or Michy were to become injured? :) Or if the club is just taking a slight gamble that none of said players become injured? :)
I hope you understand my question and that you won't find it too dumb haha. Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - No, it is none of that. Giroud is leaving because his contract is running out and at 33 he wants more chance of playing regularly. It is nothing to do with anything else.}

1.) 15 Jan 2020 13:53:04
Okay, that makes sense I think! Thanks a lot for your very fast reply! :)
It will be exciting to see if he gets to play much more at Inter. Both Lukaku and Lautaro seem to be doing really, really well, so he will certainly face some strong competition!

{Ed002's Note - Maybe one will not be there next season.}

2.) 15 Jan 2020 14:07:03
Well it certainly seems like Lautaro is of interest of some of the biggest clubs, when I read some of the other pages :) He would be very welcome at Chelsea in my opinion, but I don't see that happening any time soon :)
I actually think one of the strikers I would prefer seeing here the most is Osimhen, but that's also because I think it's awesome how he's overcome malaria - plus he seems very gifted.
Nevertheless have a nice day, Ed - wherever in the world you may be!

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea have had a sustained interest in LM for a couple of years. There is only one person at Chelsea pushing for Osimhen.}

3.) 15 Jan 2020 14:57:46
Thanks a lot for your replies, Ed. Really appreciate it!

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

4.) 15 Jan 2020 18:37:28
LM would be an amazing signing in the summer. Unfortunately he'd be an amazing signing for Real or Barcelona too.

5.) 15 Jan 2020 19:15:59
well done Emil. Think we should all read his messages with Ed02. Well formulated, polite and thankful. A bit of thought before posting saves u from an ed02 roasting.

6.) 16 Jan 2020 10:26:23
Thanks Sid. We all know how many messages Ed gets, some better than others. Since he is willing to use so much time on all of us, the very least we can do is have a proper tone and be thankful of his replies! :)

7.) 16 Jan 2020 18:09:24
I believe LM is tailor made for Barca, who (I suspect) will be looking to bring in a Suarez replacement. Thank you for the update, Ed!

8.) 17 Jan 2020 15:58:32
Please, please, please - Lautaro Matinez to Chelsea - Make it so.

29 Dec 2019 11:40:51
Hoping that we'll see our players full of motivation and spirit today.
I think we should line up in a 3-4-3, and in my opinion, AC should be our central centerback. That's his best position, and I think it could be an indication as to wether he's good enough or not.
Preferably Alonso as left wingback, Emerson if he's still injured. Kante and Kovacic as central midfielders.
I think the really tough question is who starts out of Pulisic, Willian and Mount. Regardless, Arsenal seem pretty vulnerable at their full/ wingback positions, and we should aim to take advantage of this weakness!

Oh I am sorry if my message was misinterpreted!
What I meant was quite simply that yesterday some guys on this site were arguing who the first-choice left back was for the club, and I just found it a bit funny that you then mentioned "a lengthy list", perhaps adding some more fuel to what is a pretty irrelevant discussion :)
You don't have to post this or anything, just wanted to explain :)

{Ed002's Note - OK - but there is a long list.}

At this point, with all of the talk on this site about the LB position and who might be first-choice, you are simply teasing, Ed ;)

I don't actually think we would need a replacement for Jorginho is he was to leave. While Gilmour might be our future in that role, we've also got Kovacic, who - in my opinion - is more than capable of playing that role :)

Ed 001 do you think that Ampadu is good enough at this stage to replace Jorginho without any further replacements being brought in at that position?
I myself think Kovacic is a better option for the role that Jorginho is used it - which I actually find pretty hard to describe - so I would agree that Ampadu would be a nice alternative to Kovacic in that position. Gilmour too.
I'm just wondering if what you meant was using Ampadu as first choice for Jorginho's role, and if you think that he's good enough already. It's not exactly easy to judge his current level as he hasn't been playing much this season - which is a concern.
One more thing about Ampadu - I think he has a tendency to be a reckless quite often. He's made some nasty tackles in his short career, and I as a Dane especially remember a tackle that he made for Wales on Kasper Dolberg, where he might as well had broken Dolberg's leg!

{Ed001's Note - he just needs experience, like Gilmour, which they will get if they are the cover for Kovacic. Play them in the cups and the lesser games, play Kovacic in the bigger ones and they all get plenty of gametime.}

Seems like we're a few Danish guys on this site, KTBFFH :)
My first footballing memory was back when I was 4 or 5 years old. My local team - Aalborg - was playing against one of the weirdest teams in Danish football history, Herfølge - a team that managed to win the league and relegate the following year. My local team often handed out tickets to young players from the smaller clubs in the area, and I saw my team beat the reigning champions 4-0.
The first memory of Chelsea that I can clearly remember was the game where Ronaldinho scored that cheeky goal. Back then, my favourite player was Gudjohnsen :)

I think if we want Ed to provide a list, we should all relax whenever he's given one.
Also, we cannot keep asking him every single day if we're now interested in a player that Ed has said three days in a row, that we're no longer interested in. Just a little shoutout to Sancho in the days after we bought Ziyech.
