Ed, its no secret I'm NOT a Lukaku fan. Please tell me that our interest in him has cooled?
Thanks as always.

tommy B

{Ed002's Note - The situation is unchanged. There has been a lot of effort to persuade two people at the club that he should be forgiven for a previous indescretion and allowed to return. Those efforts continue.}

1.) 22 May 2017 15:05:52
I would stay away form Lukaku at all costs. There is something hidden about him that makes me sceptical. I believe he is emotionally weak and if he does not deliver straightaway he will collapse. I prefer men like Drogba and Costa to lead our attack. Harry Kane, Griezmann and Sanchez are more psotive and confident strikers for me.

2.) 22 May 2017 15:51:19
One complaint issued against Lukaku is that he hasn't produced against the top teams. This is not a fair criticism since he does not have the team around him to produce against the very best.

My complaint against him is his lack of close ball control. He is fine running on to the ball or running against a defence with the ball but his foot work is lacking, not very good considering how Chelsea play with Costa, Pedro and Hazard. With the quick passing Chelsea play in and around the box Morata would be my choice and his all-around game is superior and more suited to our style of play.

Unfortunately, Michael Emanalo is one who is pressing for his return.

3.) 22 May 2017 20:43:32
I hope the two people at the Briidge hold there ground and block Lukaku's return.
I agree with many other fans. The bloke has an awful first touch.

4.) 22 May 2017 23:49:49
It'll be up to RA in the end.

5.) 23 May 2017 12:59:20
Which 2 people are holding up ed?

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

6.) 24 May 2017 16:09:24
Really don't understand the hate for Lukaku, pretty young still, scores goals (proven in the premier league! ) and is a Chelsea fan. Moaning about his first touch is odd given Costa is very poor at control and dribbling and his goals always seem to dry up part way through the season for a couple of months. Lukaku getting better service in our team could comfortably get 30 goals a season so I for one would welcome him back.

19 May 2017 22:16:02
All the stuff about us buying Bakayoko worries me!
I know I can be way over the top about the ability of our youngsters but I just see this guy as a block to the opportunties of our home grown talent.
If we are going to buy a player, let's make it a player who is world class NOW!

tommy B

1.) 19 May 2017 23:30:13
Is that not the exact same thing? If we buy Bako he's in the first team, If we buy verratti he's in the first team. Both would be there for as long as they stay! So it doesn't matter what happens our young guys will have to fight for a place simple as no matter what happens.

2.) 20 May 2017 06:52:11
Signing a young talent like Bakayoko will only be a block to our young talent whilst they prove to not work as hard as him whilst not performing, and improving, at his level.

It's only our young talent themselves than can get themselves into, or blocked from, the first team.

3.) 20 May 2017 09:14:50
Agreed j, chalobah and bakyoko are the same age and play in the same position, so it's fair slog it out survival of the fittest, the problem nowadays is our youngsters in particular are already on 30 grand a week wages before getting anywhere near the first team, they are fed with a silver spoon, they haven't got that street fighter scrapping to get by mentality, just because Chelsea make a signing in the same position doesn't mean they have to throw the towel in and say, oh no it's to hard at Chelsea they don't give chances, you have to earn the right to play for the English champions it's a prestigious thing to play for a top team, you have to train longer and harder than the others, you have to be the best trainer in pre-season, knock on the managers door every week, force your self a chance, and once you have this chance hold on to it with both hands and don't let go, talent alone is not enough, I remember john Terry saying in the summer of 2003 when roman bought us, he phoned lampard and said what are we going to do now, Chelsea can buy who ever they like, they were both early 20s ish around 23, son not much older than the likes chalobah, ake, or lewis baker, so they both said this is our club and we ain't going anywhere, through hard work!, determination and sheer will, they stayed and become legends, if they want it enough, if they try hard enough there is future here for all the kids, it's all on them!

4.) 20 May 2017 10:30:17
Veratti in my opinion is already top class.
While Bakayoko, for me, has it all to prove and I don't think he is any better than at least two of our youngsters.
So, why spend the money?
As you can tell, I'm NOT a fan of Bakayoko and I can't stand Lukaku but its all about opinions!

5.) 20 May 2017 10:47:33
Bakayoko Must be doing something right, he starts nearly every game for a team that has just won the league, and reached the champions league semi final, he has caps for France, and our football club has scouted him, and concluded that he will improve our squad/ team or they wouldn't sign him, not only us but psg, Man Utd, Bayern Munich and juventus have all had him watched and all would like to sign him, we have apparently won the race, Tommy b are you really thinking that all those top team scouts are wrong about him? , do you think the France manager has poor judgment and is wrong about him?, do you think he isn't as good as chalobah? , do you think chalobah could start every game for Monaco?, if chalobah was eligible to play for France do you think he would have caps at 22 years old? , do you see Bayern, Psg, Man Utd, juventus knocking our door down for chalobah? , why hasn't chalobah been called to the full English squad?, why don't chalobah start often for Chelsea? , why didn't he hardly play for Napoli last season on loan?, why do Chelsea want Bakyoko when we already have chalobah? , it would be great to bring kids in to the first team but they have to be better than what's already there or what's the point.

6.) 20 May 2017 12:47:16
Cat, all can give you is my opinion.
I'm not a fan of Bakayoko, and Lukaku for ME has the first touch of a brick wall.
All the Club managers and scouts who rate the Bakayoko are entitled to there view but I would rather see Chalaboa or Lewis Baker in the team.

7.) 20 May 2017 14:45:41
I didn't mean anything by what I said tommy b if I came across the wrong way, I just think a lot of us fans me included think our youngsters are better than they are so we almost got blind faith in them, I think it stems from our youth team success of winning trophies, but the point of the academy is to get players to graduate into the first team, we usually win the youth cup so we automatically think we have the best young talent, but just maybe we have the best youth team, best coached team best facilities ect, but some teams have that 1 speacilal talent who could be a superstar, he could play for a team that gets knocked out early, so doesn't get all the attention, our youth team is organised, strong, professional all good things but maybe it's the strength of the the youth team as a whole, when what we need is that 1 special player every few years who is head and shoulders above every other player in the Team, we have a world class youth team but not many world class talents individuals, the same ways we felt watching a young messi, Ronaldo, fabregas, Rooney, ect they all had the X factor at 17 years old, I don't know how successful there youth teams were but they stood out head and shoulders above the players they played with or against.

8.) 20 May 2017 14:56:55
Baker is a great example but not because he compares to Bakayoko. Look at Baker's highlights from this past season - so talented with both feet. Fabregas however is probably in front of him, and a pretty daunting player to have in front of him too.

So, what should Baker be thinking? I'm never going to get into that team with Fabregas there, might as well ask to be sold or given another loan? Or, I'm going back to Chelsea and I'm going to force my way into the team, ahead of Fabregas?

9.) 20 May 2017 17:10:39
Chelsea have received rave reports about Lewis Baker this year.
If we can't give him opportunities after the loan season he has had then why bother with the youth set up?
Football is all about opinions and I guess the only one that matters is Conte's.

{Ed002's Note - The are obliged to have a youth set up.}

10.) 20 May 2017 21:12:39
Very true but a good and expensive one would a waiste of everyones time and effort if rearely we give a young talent a chance and that requires more than the odd game!

06 May 2017 10:03:54
Hi Ed,
A deluded mate of mine says we will be putting in a large offer for Harry Kane. This will include the player getting tripple his current wages.
I would love this to be true but I just can't see Spurs selling to us! What do you think Ed?

tommy B

{Ed002's Note - He is teasing you Tommy.}

1.) 06 May 2017 10:53:21
Hope not, mobility of a truck and goes missing when it really matters.

2.) 06 May 2017 12:37:18
Don't want bottlers in our team.

3.) 06 May 2017 14:25:57
Spurs would never sell him to us.

4.) 06 May 2017 14:35:24
Levy wouldn't sell to us anyway, even if we were genuinely interested in Kane. If Diego leaves I expect we'll see Morata next season. I've got a feeling Lukaku will end up at United when it's all said and done. But either Morata or Lukaku would be good.
I also hope we're still interested in Icardi. He's one of the deadliest strikers around and still pretty young. Just a shame that he's apparently kind of a dick.

02 May 2017 20:18:48
We all Know Jose / Utd are interested in signing Willian but I've also been told that they have made inquiries about Cahil.

22 Apr 2017 21:09:43
Well done the lads.
Ake was all I hoped for today. This young man is going to be one hell of a player.
Now let's move on to the real business of winning tha league and then making it ANOTHER double.

tommy B

1.) 22 Apr 2017 21:48:21
Great performance let's not forget how good spurs where dominating most of the game we done what where good at soaked up pressure an took our chances come on you blues.

2.) 23 Apr 2017 06:59:16
Ake really was excellent. Great to see.

3.) 23 Apr 2017 08:46:23
lets hope it starts again. deserves it. made some superb tackles.

4.) 23 Apr 2017 13:40:57
Yes Ake was great and should have played more since January, and should have been in team v United. Depending on how Costa plays in first half of next game, we should consider willian, hazard and pedro up front as combo for second half perhaps as we should also have done at Old Trafford. Come on you Blues!

Hi Ed,
With Lukaku saying he has reached an agreement with a club, have you got any clues who it might be?
Thanks as always.

tommy B

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 07 Jun 2017 00:21:39
I'm going to stick my head out and say it isn't the Boston Red Sox.

2.) 07 Jun 2017 07:36:50
A very short neck!

30 May 2017 23:24:03
Hi everyone,
At the end of last week I said on this site that a mate of mine had informed me of a likely immenent signing.
It now looks as if this was poor info and I apologise if I got anyones hopes up.

Is there any rule about how many players a prem team can loan to anther prem team?
I'm assuming there is a good chance that Izzy and Kacey might stay on loan with Huddersfield next year and maybe joined by Tammy.

tommy B

1.) 30 May 2017 00:21:02
Yes only one per club.

2.) 30 May 2017 09:55:47
As above, one per club and I believe a club can only loan up to two players in total from other PL clubs (so for example, one from Chelsea and one from Spurs) .

3.) 30 May 2017 10:20:03
in Huddersfields case, id expect kasey palmer and danny ward. ward who has been on loan from Liverpool has looked very impressive. id imagine that brown will have another championship loan.

4.) 30 May 2017 10:30:41
Brown is far too good for a Championship loan. If BMG lose Thorgan Hazard we should send his there.

5.) 30 May 2017 12:45:31
I don't think he is, I don't think he would have started for Huddersfield if all players were fit, nor Fulham brighton or Newcastle. he wouldn't get gametime in PL or at BMG. hope I am wrong.

6.) 30 May 2017 12:45:31

Well that's blown that theory out of the water. Thanks for the info Superfrank.

26 May 2017 19:19:01
A mate of mine tells me that a signing was due to be announced after the final.
He says there has been a last moment hitch.
Any clues who it might be Ed?

tommy B

1.) 27 May 2017 08:12:27
go on tommy I'll bite 🎣, how would your friend know that? , first question I would of asked him was, who told you that? How do you know that?, is your friend Antonio conte? , no offence mate but I use to hate seeing my friend told me comments on here, there was a poster named pinky who would always say someone told him we were signing a player and then when we didn't he would look daft.

2.) 27 May 2017 12:26:58
Its one of those "I want it to be true thngs" My mate works at Chelsea and he says there have been whispers about a signing but he can't find out who (about as good as a choclate teapot) I was hoping Ed might have a clue but I guess, if its going to happen it will happen.
Its a fair point about trusting a mates info but I remember I was told by a person directly invoved in the JT saga and I truly believed he was going to stay at the club. So who knows!

23 May 2017 16:25:54
To all fellow Chelsea football fans attending the final on Saturday.
I think it would be wonderful if the fans of both clubs laid flowers scarves or whatever, at one of the Wembley statues in memory of the people who have lost there lives in Manchester.
The families and friends of these victims need to know that the fooball fans and all the citizens of London stand with Manchester!

tommy B

1.) 23 May 2017 19:57:09
Absolutely! Our thoughts to the families affected by this cowardly act on our values. We will prevail!

If a club don't want to sell (like Spurs with Kane) and the player doesn't want to join us or live and work in London, that's not much our club can do.
All the club can do is be very competitive on wages and a fee.
We won't always get our first choice and anyway, any signing will NOT make every fan happy. I will not be over the moon if we sign Lukaku but he looks to be the first choice of the club.

Since the last January transfer window the club is up about a nett £100mil. We could also sell more players raising approx another £50mil.
In Total £150mil plus an average Chelsea spend of say £50 should give us around £200mil to sign some EXTRA quality players.
There should be NO panic amongst the fans and I'm sure the club and in particular our manager, are very relaxed about the situation!

Bego has been a true professional for our club.
Some fans will not be happy with Solanke transfer and in some ways I agree but it was a chicken and egg situation surrounding playing time and contract. Good luck to both but maybe a bit more luck to Bego!

I have posted several times about Lukaku. I am not a fan and I would prefer Morata. Some fans say we should forget/ set aside the fees involved. If that's the case, why not press for Kane.

I've only seen Bakayoko twice and that was on TV.
I'm not a massive fan but everyone else seems to rave about him and the club must rate him!
The price is only OK if he is OK!
