Steve Holland in as interim manager if we lose on Sunday is the latest rumour. Steve Holland has now moved to second favourite with the bookies as well.

Hi all. I just wondered if any of the Eds could tell me if Chelsea were actively looking to Belotti as a first choice?

I know that Ed002 is not active on this page at the moment but if any of the very kind Eds could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Titan

{Ed018's Note - it sounds as if Morata might be the guy to come in}

1.) 19 Jul 2017 18:36:16
oh god i hope we sign someone else to i don't rate him at all i hope im wrong and ill happily eat humble pie if he's banging them in come start of season though.

2.) 19 Jul 2017 21:36:13
Thank you Ed018 for your reply. You are a gentleman and that is great news.

Would one of the Eds be able to tell me if there has been any decision on what will happen to Nathaniel Chalobah next season? I'd like to see him back at Chelsea so I'm hoping there is some positive news.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Titan

{Ed002's Note - Napoli wanted to make Chalobah's loan permanent but Chelsea do nopt want to sell him. Nothing is finalised but another loan to Torino in Italy is in the offing.}

1.) 10 Jun 2016 15:57:03
Crap, I'd hoped that he would be a part of the 1st team next season. So talented that guy.

2.) 10 Jun 2016 18:59:15
Thank you for your quick reply Ed002. Enjoy your weekend.

3.) 11 Jun 2016 00:21:17
Exciting that the club want to keep him and aren't open to selling. For the life of me I don't get the serie A loans. As Jackson said, I think he still could perform a role for our club.

Hi Ed002, I hope you're well. You very kindly answered a question of mine last month about Jim Ratcliffe and his interest in buying Chelsea. At the time you mentioned that despite having an offer rejected by Mr Abramovich you thought he would come back with another offer. Do you know if this is still the case? I read a quote from his brother saying that they were no longer interested in buying an English club due to their cost comparative to commercial value. This quote appeared at around the same time as Mr Buck spoke about Mr Abramovich's commitment to Chelsea. Is this coincidence?

Titan

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

1.) 12 Apr 2019 12:17:30
Understood. Thanks for the reply Ed002.

Hi Eds,

Can I ask, is there any truth in the new reports yesterday that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still interested in buying Chelsea?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Titan

{Ed002's Note - Jim Ratcliffe has had an offer rejected for the club but has never made any secret of his desire to buy it.}

1.) 19 Mar 2019 13:08:23
Thanks very much for the reply Ed002. I know that at one point the owner had looked into selling a share in the club to finance the ground re-development. Do you think there is currently more of an appetite to sell the club outright now if the price offered is seen to be 'interesting' enough?

{Ed002's Note - None of this is related to selling a proportion to redevelop the ground. It is to do with approaches from Jim Ratcliffe who knows Mr Abramovich well.}

2.) 19 Mar 2019 15:00:35
Thanks Ed002. Understood and appreciated.

3.) 19 Mar 2019 16:01:30
I would love for them to join forces and make us the force we was when Abramovich first took over.

4.) 19 Mar 2019 20:47:08
Doubtful there were ever be a joint venture. Radcliffe is very single minded and prefers total control and no distractions. I would imagine our sponsorship would be his own company and the loan sideline we run would stop apart from the odd one to gain experience. I was at a meeting where he discussed his business and he made it clear he tries to keep outside influences to a minimum so you focus on what you are employed to do.

I was wondering if I could ask one of the Eds a question to help me understand Chelsea's approach to transfers. I hope one of you can help.

When Mr Abramovich first came to Chelsea he took our transfer dealings to an unheralded level. This approach then changed with the implementation of FFP. What I would like to know is with FFP evidently being less of a concern to many clubs now, what with the spiralling transfer fees and wages that are being both asked for and paid, why has Chelsea's approach stayed so wedded to financial prudence? We have agreed far more advantageous commercial agreements and broadcast rights have also grown significantly. Is it anything to do with the ability of the owner to fund such dealings now what with some clubs being commercial beasts (United) and others state backed (PSG and City in various guises)?

I am conscious that Ed002 often repeats that the club will not be held to ransom and will also not buy for the sake of it but how does that reconcile itself when it is evident that the club does need to buy and so clubs will look to charge the highest fee possible? If it came to it would the club be more likely to pay the quoted amount or go into a season short of the desired resource but having maintained their negotiating stance?

If any of this is naive or hugely wide of the mark, I apologise. I am just trying to make some sense of the incoming and outgoings over the past few windows. I understand that many players have moved on for a greater chance of regular first team football but I find it strange that we have allowed so many to leave before securing replacements.

Any thoughts or insights that can be shared would be gratefully received.

Titan

{Ed002's Note - (a) FFP is not of less a concern to anyone. (b) There is no funding issue. (c) The cloub won't be held to ransom but I am not aware of any transfer where this has meant a player has not signed for Chelsea. There might be one, but I cannot think of anyone right now.}

1.) 08 Aug 2017 10:17:11
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply Ed002.

I stand corrected regarding FFP. That was my assumption based on why some clubs are spending but I appreciate that it's incorrect.

May I ask you if in your opinion Antonio Conte will leave Chelsea because of his dissatisfaction with the club's performance in this and the previous two transfer windows? That is unless there is a real change in circumstances between now and the window closing.

{Ed002's Note - Where do you think the performance has been unsatisfactory?}

2.) 08 Aug 2017 10:46:23
Apologies, that is an assumption I have made. Maybe wrongly, I believed that Mr Conte had asked for certain players to be recruited last summer and in January and they didn't arrive at Chelsea. Currently his own words in press conferences suggest he is frustrated and unhappy regarding recruitment.

{Ed002's Note - Which players are these?}

3.) 08 Aug 2017 10:58:56
Currently Sandro and Danilo from this window. Or is that wide of the mark?

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to give you any detail about Sandro but Juventus don't want to sell him, so that is hardly the fault of anyone at Chelsea. Danilo was not the player Conte wanted at right back, Antonio Rudiger was as he can cover at centre back as well. Chelsea signed him. Conte wanted Bakayoko over Kessie - Chelsea signed him as well. Conte wants Drinkwater, hence the efforts.}

4.) 08 Aug 2017 11:12:50
Thank you. I stand corrected and appreciate you putting me straight.

Is Mr Conte's current frustration to do with something other than simple transfer strategy then? He is cutting a rather dejected figure currently.

Again, I appreciate your time and insight, thank you.

{Ed002's Note - It is simply timing - it is very difficult to do things instantaneously. van Dijk is a good example. Conte wants him, it will be difficult at best.}

5.) 08 Aug 2017 11:24:15
Thank you Ed002.

Hopefully Marina can pull some rabbits out the hat and make Mr Conte a happy man again. I think he is a fabulous coach so would hate to see him leave. The lack of a an extension to his contract was the first thing that gave me cause for concern.

6.) 08 Aug 2017 22:03:40
Cheers ed!

13 Mar 2016 18:41:33
Ed002 could you please tell me if Aina is still looking to leave or if things have changed and the club have managed to persuade him to stay?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Titan

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed at the moment.}

1.) 13 Mar 2016 19:46:25
Many thanks for the quick reply Ed002. Fingers crossed things do change.

2.) 13 Mar 2016 22:07:00
Is it around no playing time, if so now is the time to play him and he can then prove he's ready, or he's not.
I am a masive fan and think he is our rb of the future.

{Ed002's Note - It is around guarantees and clubs will rarely give in to such demands.}

I hope Witsel does happen. An added physical presence in midfield but also a ball player. Fingers crossed.

RVD1997 I don’t think you can put today or the last six months of largely insipid play down to long standing player power issues. Today’s starting eleven consisted of 6 players who were new to the club this season.

Player power and indifference has certainly been a challenge in the past but it’s not the primary factor now.

Nothing to be positive about there today TomB. I know you always try to see the positives and give the club the benefit but that was disgraceful today.

gianfranco gola this is a site that I believe is available for people to share their opinions, as long as it’s done in a respectful way. If it’s an echo chamber of opinions exactly like your own that you want to read then there’s a simple answer to that.
We’ll see about Potter but again, my OPINION, is that he isn’t good enough or a manager that top quality talent is going to be attracted by. No, I don’t want any of the managers you mentioned. I personally would have stood by Tuchel and had patience but am allowed to say that or was that not the correct time to ‘grow a set and relax’?

I haven’t posted in quite a long time but Potter was an ill judged appointment in my opinion. No pedigree at our level and no reputation to help attract the quality of player we need to attract and should be competing for. I personally think that is an issue.

The new owners, whilst still very new, have not impressed with their approach thus far. This is a very important second half of a season. No Champions League qualification can only be a hindrance to our rebuilding. Not only in trying to attract players but also trying to retain the right players.
