Any update on contracts for Maatsen or Gallagher Ed002? :)

fuser

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

01 Feb 2023 23:15:07
Ed002/ ed001, any chance of the Ziyech deal going through or will PSG’s appeal fail? Many thanks :)

fuser

{Ed002's Note - I would expect that efforts will continue for him to leave but it won't be tp PSG now.}

1.) 02 Feb 2023 19:08:42
Where could he go for four months? Outside of Europe?

{Ed002's Note - Anywhere the transfer window is still open. Austria, Turkey ....}

2.) 03 Feb 2023 02:36:18
Did we really bugger it up by not sending signed documents. goodness me.

06 Nov 2022 02:10:30
Is it true chelsea are interested in trossard ed002? :)

fuser

{Ed002's Note - Leandro Trossard (LW/AM) Interest of Manchester United went with the arroval of ten Hag and they have no shortage of players in a similar position. Newcastle are keen to take the player but would need to sell their project to him. Trossard could see Allan Saint-Maximin as a block to first team football. Arsenal are looking to add a player and Trossard is on their list. Whilst the Chelsea coach would like to take Trossard the club have preferred options in mind, although signing them will prove difficlt, so they cannot be discounted.}

Ed002, (feel free not to answer) but would Gvardiol still not be for sale? Personally I feel he’d be a good addition being able to play CB and cover LB, perhaps allowing us to not sign a back up LB/ LWB. Many thanks =].

fuser

{Ed002's Note - Josko Gvardiol (CB) Opted to join RBL to replace Konate over Leeds last summer. Leeds and Newcastle have asked after him. Will not be for sale and says he wants to stay for now. My understanding is that there has not been an approach from Chelsea but he has been watched by scouts and he is on the lengthy list of CBs the club are considering. Spurs and Marseille have also sent scouts to watch the player and Spurs have asked about availability.}

29 Jul 2021 18:10:58
Ed002 any truth in West Ham interest in zouma? Or any other interest in him?
Many thanks.

fuser

{Ed002's Note - Kurt Zouma (CB) Will be available in the summer but the interest of Spurs went with Mr Mourinho. Maybe Roma will be interest or perhaps there is still interest from Everton. Offered to Seville as part of a deal for Kounde but I doubt that would suit the player. I am not aware of any approach from West Ham but they are keen on a CB and he fits the bill.}

1.) 30 Jul 2021 09:04:47
Hopefully Sevilla's offer of sun, sea and UCL football can persuade Zouma.

2.) 30 Jul 2021 12:58:05
RJ Seville is not on the coast but it has a river. I went there many years ago it is a beautiful city.

{Ed0666's Note - boiling hot aswell. The frying pan of Europe

3.) 30 Jul 2021 15:06:47
Short train journey down to Cadiz for all your seaside needs. It's a wonder more English players don't give the continent a go.

{Ed002's Note - Zouma is not English.}

4.) 30 Jul 2021 18:10:45
Beautiful train journey up to Madrid and very good value.

5.) 31 Jul 2021 05:32:32
Cheers for clearing that up Ed.

I know Dermot Gallagher is just a mouthpiece who flip flops and tries to cover for the mistakes made by VAR and refs but this weeks piece for sky sports is a joke.

DERMOT SAYS: "When you see it in real-time, you think it's a penalty all day long. When you see it slowed down, it's totally different.

"But is this what we want to do, forensically diagnose every decision in slow motion? I'm not sure supporters do. ”

That’s literally what VAR does for every decision isn’t it? Offside calls are judged by the millimetre, red cards are looked at through every angle, penalties etc. They’re all judged by slow motion. These incidents can take up to 5-6mins to review in some cases.

When referees are sent to the monitor to review decisions, the incidents are always played in slo-mo.

They need to own up to their mistakes. They need to completely review the way VAR is handled. It’s a complete failure in its current iteration imo.

fuser

1.) 06 May 2024 21:56:59
In my opinion VAR should just be foe offsides and goal one decisions.

Generally it sucks the life out of a game and destroys joy and atmosphere.

05 May 2024 13:15:54
Wow got to say I’m surprised at our bench. Lots of players back but I do wonder how much time they’ve got in their legs. Hopefully we get no early injuries and they can just come on for 30 mins at the end.

fuser

07 Mar 2024 16:08:24
I know you don’t like to talk finances ed002, but just wanted to ask whether there’s any sort of leniency/ reprieve given we were under sanctions a couple years ago?

fuser

{Ed002's Note - What do you think Chelsea has done wrong.}

1.) 07 Mar 2024 21:57:55
I meant the sanctions under the end of the abramovich era when his accounts were frozen and we weren’t allowed to see tickets for matches etc. It’s reported that we lost around £30m or so due to it and just wondered if that would be taken into account for FFP or not.

{Ed002's Note - It is the actual figures that are relevant. I really think you should avoid any thought of the finances.}

28 Jan 2024 21:42:01
Ed002, do you know much about contract renewals or is that not really your thing? Reports saying Gallagher wants £150k/ w for a contract extension? Many thanks.

fuser

{Ed002's Note - I really don't have any interest in chasing contract based issues. Conor Gallagher has yet to agree a new contract and there is interest.}

1.) 29 Jan 2024 19:41:51
Just get the boy paid. Splurging £300k a week on Sterling, no wonder the Chelsea captain’s representatives are chapping the door of the board.

2.) 29 Jan 2024 20:26:15
Think he will be sold if you think about it he was going last window really due to us buying better midfielders I love his work rate but apart from that there is not much more for me I think chuky is better and think if he didn’t get injured you wouldn’t of really seen Gallagher and I think they have high hopes for the others so when all fit I don’t see him getting in.

3.) 29 Jan 2024 21:44:03
Paying Sterling £300K plus a week was a big mistake but it doesn’t mean the club should cave in to players’ demands. Gallagher is not top class; he is not a game changer. It’s up to the club and him to resolve the contract issues but if they can’t do so he should be sold.

4.) 29 Jan 2024 22:10:02
I know I’m in a minority but I don’t understand fan’s concerns about salaries. Just let the club worry about it.

I’m only interested in a players ability and does that player fulfil the club’s requirements!

5.) 29 Jan 2024 23:42:46
Footballers salaries are of interest to many supporters particularly if players on high wages are not producing the goods. Whether we like it or not football is all about money; transfer fees, wages, contracts, FPP/ PSR, sponsorship, TV rights etc. The days of Jimmy Greaves getting on the bus with the fans are long gone.

6.) 30 Jan 2024 06:14:53
I could do nothing about Jimmy Greaves wages and I can’t do anything about a present days players wages. I personally don’t look at a players ability and think he is only worth X amount but as I’ve said, I’m probably in a minority.

I don’t worry about FFP, PSR or the total wage bill. I also ADMIT to knowing next to zero about there rules.

Club sponsors and TV rights are out of my control so I prefer to trust the club.

I do have an opinion on players, mangers, coaches and owner’s performance for our club just not what they are paid.

7.) 30 Jan 2024 08:56:29
I would sell him personally 100 per cent profit
I think he tries his very best when he plays and honestly it's not that great but it is all we ask for as fans
If he is giving his all that's OK but technically he's not to the standard we need to compete at top level
I think if chuky or nkunku hadn't been injured he would of been sold already
He good at getting the ball but his distribution is poor especially in final third
I feel for him actually he tries so hard and seems to love playing for cfc imagine how frustrating that must be for him to know you are just not good enough by a fraction.

8.) 30 Jan 2024 09:44:52
Whether we as fans worry about transfers or not, it is quite clear that the club seem to be unwilling to meet his demands.

I quite like the idea that we are not given in to players demands and I would also like to see Sterling leave in the summer and remove his high wages off the books.

Personally I love this very quiet window, not just for us but all clubs in the premiership.

9.) 30 Jan 2024 09:45:59
gola, I would have been indifferent to selling CG pre his performances this season but if he doesn’t want sign or if the club don’t want to offer him what he wants, then he will be sold.

We don’t want players running down there contracts.

10.) 30 Jan 2024 10:00:10
Bill, do you want Sterling moved as a player or because he is highly paid?

Considering he is such a marmite player I was surprised he is ranked third on the Chelsea fans WAGNH performance chart a few weeks ago. As a player he has been ok this season. Certainly a lot better than Noni or Mudryk.

11.) 30 Jan 2024 10:31:44
Giess my views on CG have been stated quite a few times. I think he has been improving under Poch, been one of the stand out performers this season for us, more consietnt than either Caicedo or Enzo. He is getting better in final third decision making, as well as proven statistically being best in league in winning the ball. Perhaps look again at those recent two great assists in his late cameo appearance in Carabao semi-final v Borough for improved vision and precision. So as said before unless we can replace with demonstarbly better - ie provenm world class - player I would certainly want him to stay right now.

12.) 30 Jan 2024 11:10:12
JBS, I 100% agree with your post.

I would also say that Enzo is looking being back to his best over the last few games and his partnership with Caicedo is improving from game to game.

13.) 30 Jan 2024 11:44:34
Utterly ridiculous if he's sold.

{Ed002's Note - He has failed to agree a new contract.}

14.) 30 Jan 2024 12:05:05
With that news Ed your guess where does he look like he’s heading, please don’t say out the door! Or if you don’t want to give us that what teams are interested
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Spurs are one of the interested clubs and will talk to Chelsea.}

15.) 30 Jan 2024 13:18:48
Tim re Sterling, my answer is performances are not equal to the money he is been paid.

16.) 30 Jan 2024 13:19:43
Standard

Would you like to see him go on a free transfer in 18 months time?

17.) 30 Jan 2024 13:24:29
I don’t know if CG will be sold but if he is do we really need anymore midfielders?

{Ed002's Note - Two have returned from loan and another is nearing fitness, so not right now.}

18.) 30 Jan 2024 13:34:36
Thanks for the info Ed’s been a really quiet window for everybody really, well in deals being done.

19.) 30 Jan 2024 13:40:29
Bill, I’m with you on judging a player subjectively by performance rather than his salary.

Again, I am sure I’m in a minority but if I just can’t start adding another layer of judgements. Such as value for money!

20.) 30 Jan 2024 13:52:00
Thanks Ed, I could be talking absolute rubbish here but it does seem like chelsea undervalue our players and expect them to sign lesser contracts but at the same time offer players at other clubs more money. You do tell us to not worry about figures but do you think the offer is fair? Mount seems to have had a similar problem.

Happy to be told im full of crap though lol.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. How much is Chelsea offering these players?}

21.) 30 Jan 2024 16:47:57
Standard, might the problem be that certain players start believing their own publicity and think they have become Chelsea legends and overvalue themselves.

{Ed002's Note - No, you seem to be simply making up this nonsense.}

22.) 30 Jan 2024 17:04:59
Ed002, I am not making it up I am speculating. Obviously, players agents have a big input in negotiations but ultimately it is up to the player to decide.

{Ed002's Note - It ius all BS. Just stop. This is one of the reason s finances are not discussed.}

23.) 30 Jan 2024 18:39:24
Ed002 do. you mean spurs will talk to Chelsea about getting him this window? And would gallagher even accept if we agree a deal? And is. hat player close to returning lavia? Do you know how long ugochukwu is expected to be out? Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Of course they will sign him if something to be agreed. It is nothing to do with Lavia, he plays a different position. This is all becoming very tiresome.}

24.) 31 Jan 2024 13:15:43
Well Gallagher is on 50k reportedly, whereas these new players we've brought in are on considerably more. So hopefully he gets offered a worthwhile contract but it seems clear chelsea view him only as a 'pure profit' to mask our awful transfer dealings and the mistakes we've made. Gallagher is a wonderful player and has been our best midfeilder this year over enzo and caicedo. He should be treated as such.

25.) 31 Jan 2024 14:48:47
Our good and bad transfer dealings will probably end up being comparable club transfers. All clubs have a percentage of players that for one reason or another don’t work out.

I think Enzo playing alongside Caicedo is a pairing that is improving all the time.

I haven’t got a clue how CG values himself or how the club value him. He has improved as a player this season but if the two parties can’t reach an agreement then I guess he will be sold. We have alternatives available so although I would prefer him to stay, I’m not that bothered.

26.) 31 Jan 2024 15:14:10
Standard, your comment about the club selling for “pure profit” is expected and almost certainly wrong.

I see this as no different to the Mount situation. The two parties could not agree on the terms of a contract and rather than see yet another contract being run down the club decided to sell a player while a transfer fee was still an option.

Your assertion that the club are trying to “mask our awful transfer dealings” is just you desperately finding another situation to be critic CFC and its owners/ management.

27.) 31 Jan 2024 23:12:00
Tom, I agree with you. It’s a normal contract negotiation between the player and the club; if no agreement can be reached he will have to be sold on the summer: like you I’m not bothered.

28 Oct 2023 22:31:42
Missed the first half today but managed to watch the majority of the second half. By reports and comments we dominated the first half but couldn’t buy a goal. Not going to go into complete meltdown after the loss,

But, I have 2 issues, maybe 3, as follows. We had 2 RB’s on the bench in James and Gusto. It was probably too soon for James to start, we don’t want to rush him back, so he can be discounted. But Gusto (as far as I’m aware) has just come back from suspension so surely should have been fit enough to start? (If he was injured whilst suspended) then Cucu has been playing his best games for Chelsea at RB over the last 3-4 games. So I’d have had Cucu at RB, Disasi, Silva and Colwill at LB, same as the last 4 games. (I’d potentially put Maatsen at LB and drop Silva, but wouldn’t expect Poch to do so)

2nd issue. Sterling’s best games have mostly been on the right this season esp with James behind him. Fair enough with James on the bench and Madueke being better on the right, Sterling on the left was fine. Then second half James came on, and Sterling stayed on the left. Then even when Madueke went off and Maatsen (a left footer who’d probs be better on the left) Sterling still played on the left instead of trying to pick up the chemistry that had slightly developed with James on the right?

Once we went behind I was expecting some more adventurous passing, not quite punt it up the pitch and see what happens (as we don’t have those sort of players) but we just continued to see sideways and backwards passing, recycling possession, when we’re chasing a game. That’s definitely one of my biggest frustrations ( I can cope with it when drawing or winning) but it just doesn’t really work when a teams trying to defend a lead imo.

fuser

1.) 28 Oct 2023 22:57:18
fuser, I agree with a lot of the points you make in your post.

Not putting Sterling out on the right and IM on the left was a surprise to me.

I think the Choices Poch made in defence was more a way of combating Brentford’s size. So not picking Gusto I sort of got.

On a brighter note MC had another good game along Caicedo.

2.) 29 Oct 2023 00:08:30
I mean if it was about size, Disasi wasn’t tracking ar RB for their first goal so that was a fail.

Also I’m not usually one to complain but just rewatched them penalty decision on MoTD, and whilst it was a shoulder barge, it was a shoulder barge into Sterling’s back ?.

3.) 29 Oct 2023 04:32:14
fuser, I said I got it, the logic that is and as always the manager will be criticised if his decision backfires.
I personally thought there were two players asleep this week for Brentford’s first goal and Sterling didn’t support MC that allowed the cross.

The push on Sterling could have easily been given as a pen.

A question ed002 if I may. With future transfers like estevao, or even in the case of Paez, is the transfer recorded in accounts when it’s agreed or when they move clubs ie summer of 2025? Many thanks :)

Tusole, I think unfortunately given where we are atm I doubt many of the experienced players would come here. Osimhen? Off to PSG. Alfonso Davies? Off to Real. Perhaps we should be going for Bastoni instead of Diomande but there’s not too many experienced players that come to mind who are either good enough or willing to come here imo.

Yeah potential Davies replacement for Bayern. I do believe Balde is first choice and it was on the Utd page. I think Cucu could end up at either Utd or Atletico depending on what they’re willing to pay.

Since the start of the year we’ve played 24 games across all competitions. Won 14 of them, drawn 6 lost 4. Some terrible games such as the Arsenal one, the playing for penalties against Liverpool in the final and the Liverpool game in the league. A very respectable draw against City 1-1. Some poor draws against Brentford, Burnley and Sheffield. But great wins on the bounce now against Spurs and West Ham and were unlucky to draw against Aston Villa (which is still a respectable result)

Saw a stat that said if the league started in January we’d be 4th in the table. I think that shows clear improvement over the season. Yes in the past we’ve had managers come in and make an instant impact, but that was with a squad of players at their peak. Poch has come into a young, inexperienced and disjointed team which had relatively no experience of playing with each other. That alongside our massive injury list the entire season (which was mostly our experienced players) has delayed the progress. Maybe it’s too little too late but I’d be inclined to give him another year.

Yeah he’s started consistently providing in the final 3rd with goals and assists. Think I’m finally in the give him what he wants camp in terms of a new contract.

These last few weeks things finally seem to be gelling. Kinda throwing a lot of what I thought would happen in the summer up in the air. Cucu is playing v well in the inverted LB role, so not needing to sell him anymore. Chalobah has shown enough to stay too. Badiashile has improved since the Arsenal game and seems to be getting back to the form where he looked v good when he first signed. Madueke is finally getting starts and contributing both offensively and defensively.

Think in the summer window, apart from those on loan, the only definite out imo would be Sterling who’s been a massive disappointment this year. Also leaning more into keeping Poch for another year. A) the footballs improved over the year and B) I don’t think changing managers every year is good for the younger players.

Also Matt, Academy costs are not included in FFP calculations.

{Ed001's Note - it is PSR and that is no longer relevant. It is a %age of the revenue that you can spend on transfers, agent fees and wages.}

I’d 1 million percent sell Lukaku for £300m. Bout as much chance as Enzo being sold. He cost us over £100m. Utd, City, PSG, Real, Bayern and Saudi are the only clubs who could afford him. Real have no need for him, Bayern typically don’t spend that much. Unlikely Enzo would go to Saudi so that leaves Utd, City and PSG. Utd need more of a defensive CM/ DM given their squad. So just leaves City and PSG. Maybe one of them would bite but unlikely and probably not for over £100m. So maybe we could sell him for say £70-80m at a loss, meaning we have to raise an extra £20m to comply with PSR and then still have to sell Gallagher anyway and possibly even more players to make up for it. Ideal right?

fuser
