Some gist from Italy (from a questionable source) that Chelsea is going for Donnaruma (fee about €50m) . Hard to believe as Mino Raiola is his agent.

Would love Donnaruma if we couldn't get Oblak, still only 21 and has a lot of room to improve but he'd be a big upgrade. Also yeah i doubt the club would like to try and deal with Raiola, but i think it'd be worth it.

I've seen this reported by a few sources. Could be legitimate. and isn't it AC that need the cash?

They are also interested in bakayoko I believe?

Gianluigi "Gigio" Donnarumma grew up supporting Milan and he is 21 and he is playing for Milan. I don't see much in this other than his current contract is up soon.

Ed gave a list of goalies during lockdown ans expects kepa to stay for another yearr|.

I’ve maintained that he’s the goalie I’d go for. I’m not sure why a players agent would preclude us from targeting them. Yes Mino can throw tantrums but ultimately the power resides with the club and Marina has shown she has no problem going toe to toe with bigger clowns that Mino.

Believe Ed02 previously said he was on the list of goalkeepers we were considering but wages would be huge and he was expected to sign a new deal at AC. Sounds like Mino just trying to get the highest wages possible for his client. Personally I’ve always thought that Donarumma is somewhat overrated - decision making and handling didn’t impress me much whenever I’ve seen him play. Ed01 what are your thoughts on him as a keeper?

{Ed001's Note - he is still young, but I do agree he has not made the progress he should have so far. A step or two up from Kepa, but not sure it is worth spending big on him as he will not fix the issues at the back. Though Silva will no doubt be a big help in the short term, he is only a short term fix. Donnarumma is very confident though and that will make a huge difference as that inspires confidence from defenders.}

Of the available keepers in Europe which do you think would be the best option and be able to adapt to the PL the best?
Seems that quite a few are good shot stoppers but less who command the box at set pieces.

{Ed001's Note - Oblak would be the ideal, even if only because of the boost it would give the whole team to add a keeper of such quality.}

I'd hope we do back kepa, there is a decent keeper in there somewhere. He's lacked confidence and had been made a scapegoat for our whole defence this year. Sure some rubbishs are down to him but what keeper hasn't Ben at fault. Look at de gea, probably been the best keeper in the world the last few years and he is a shadow of his former self this year. Let's get behind him and give him a chance.

Donnarumma would possibly be the best GK target we can get. His development hasn't gone as rapid as was hoped, but a change in scenery could potentially do him wonders. Tall, and a very good shot stopper, he'd be really good for us.

That said, I doubt we try for him. Raiola makes that seem pretty unlikely.

Hi Ed002.

The Kai Havertz transfer is a big talking point in football due to his fee and apparent talent and future potential, which has meant dozens of "insiders" and journalists are lining up to give differing accounts of how "done" it is, the apparent fee, and take a punt at a completion date.

Those of us who come on here know that, fundamentally, you're reliable because you a) don't gain anything from speculating (apart from grief) and b) don't make statements that aren't well qualified.

So when yesterday you said "The transfer is being concluded in Germany by a lawyer working for Chelsea" - can we take from this that the broad-strokes are agreed between the clubs, and what's left is dotting i's, crossing t's, and some finer legal details?

{Ed002's Note - The statement is true and correct - I don't know why you want to try and read things into it.}

Basically just trying to get to grips with how close this is, without asking the "how soon" or "how likely" questions we know you don't like.

Cheers.

It’s close, I wouldn’t worry too much about it mate. Big transfers always take longer.
