Looking like Chelsea going all out for morata rather than barbosa! £70m a bit steep if you ask me though. How true these reports are I don't know! Any the eds got any information.

I'd take Higuain at 70 mil any day of the week. Morata is one player I really don't rate at all. If I was at the club i'd be doing everything to add a bit of mass and in turn strength to Traore and develop into a striker. I said it when we signed him and still believe he is world class.

The problem is Higuain wouldn't be available for any less than his release clause (something like €94m) .

If we are serious about playing two up front and want to look within the squad Traore and potentially Solanke are ideal for the support striker role.

Am I the only one that thinks traore will never make it at Chelsea. I just don't see a position for him in the team. If Costa goes, Madrid will play hard ball and try to milk Chelsea for every penny, but morata is not worth more than £50m even in today's stupid prices. A player not been mentioned for a while is aubameyang, maybe moving away from the physical forward that we are used to seeing at the bridge and bring a more pacey, mobile striker in.

Shame if you ask me. I know my opinion means little, but i'd have much rather seen us get GB than Morata, especially at the ridiculous prices we are being quoted. I really don't think Morata is even that good :/
Certainly not world record striker money good!
I know strikers have to do more than score goals, but to me that's their main function and he simply doesn't excel at that, and I don't really think any of our other players do either, other than Costa and Michy looking at previous goal returns, who realistically only one of is likely to be on the pitch at a time alongside Morata if he were to be on the pitch.
Leaves us lacking goal scorers in my opinion.

The above is all of course hypothetical if Morata is signed and no new wide players or midfielders are signed, and if our other striking options remain the same (Plus Morata) going into the season.

75 million for Morata if that is indeed true is extortionate, he hasn't done anything to warrant that price if and again big IF the reports of that price is true surely the club should offer the same amount for pogba but also include Matic i mean assuming costa now stays him and batsman be fine with traore has cover and hazard could play there should a disaster occur. i just don't see how madrid have come to the conclusion he's worth that kind of money.

Lampsy_8 - Pogba will not be moving to Chelsea. as we know too well.

yh i'm well aware just saying don't get why an attempt isn't made instead of forking out 70 mil for morata.

It's not just about the transfer fee. It's the agents payment, signing on fee, wages. Etc. The amounts get more and more ridiculous the more you read about it.

Think it's time something was done about the fees that the top agents earn in a transfer. Seems to me that half the discussion in any transfer revolves around how much money the agent will get.

For info

CHELSEA REJECT CHRISTENSEN BID

Borussia Monchengladbach have had a €17m euro offer for Andreas Christensen turned down, according to Sky Germany sources.

The Chelsea defender is on loan for another year at the German club and no further talks are expected until the winter.

So I understand that Barbosa will NOT be joining Chelsea. His destination is most probably Juventus. No offers have been received by the Santos President. Just verbal offers. Juventus wants to buy the 3rd party 40% for €20m. Then they have to discuss other terms with Santos. They've received no offers from Chelsea.

Other teams that are interested in signing him are Chelsea, Ath Madrid and Dortmund. Barcelona not interested. But they want Gabriel Jesus instead. But just not yet.

I'll let you make up your own mind, but that's come from a usually reliable Brazilian journo.

I can't see him coming to England. all in for Morata now.

I thought we had a chance to be fair, especially with our Brazilians already at the club. But it seems the lure of Spain/ Italy is to big a pull for young Brazilians.

Just give Madrid what they want, stop messing around and get it done. Easier said then done I know!

Atleti pres backtracking now on Costa saying he was misquoted, I wouldn't sell on pure principle now. He's put us in a tough position negotiating for a replacement striker. Clubs going to extort us knowing were going to lose him.

I would just ignore the Aletico president's comments.

We won't lose him. Unless Chelsea get an absolutely stupid price they won't sell him.

What is it Ed always says? If an acceptable offer comes in and the player wants to go, the club will not stand in the way. 50mil should do it i'd say. I reckon he's gone, in all fairness the press made a scapegoat out of him same with Suarez. Wouldn't dare do it with a Utd player.

If Lukaku and Morata are worth £60m+ then we should be getting at least that imo.

20 Jul 2016 12:23:45
Wouldn't dare do it with a United player?! Do you not remember Di Maria? Falcao? Memphis? Fellaini? And that's only in the last couple years. The press love to attack any United player that is an easy target.

As I stated regarding barbosa it now seems a lot of morata rumours are doing the rounds again. Cousin hasn't got anymore information but what he told me seems to be happening to what I've posted before.

Chelsea need to act as other big clubs want him and if he just a full back option for morata then likewise they need to pay what Madrid want. Could miss out on both if we not careful.

Pinky you seem to be back tracking rather quickly.

Ed018 do you have any info which hasn't been stated before?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - no. Obviously Chelsea are have shown interest in both and reaching a deal for either player is gonna be difficult}

19 Jul 2016 11:38:16
Simon Johnson from Evening Standard has said that Chelsea view Barbosa as a back up to Lukaku and Morata.

Does worry me that it could be a case of missing out on all 3. Morata and Lukaku too expensive and worried Juve or Barcelona could swoop in and sign Barbosa.

19 Jul 2016 12:47:15
Hitman am not backtracking at all I've stated in a earlier post that barbosa deal all depends on morata! Chelsea will go for barbosa but if there a chance of morata then they will go for him but need to stop footing around with what Madrid want.

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Jul 2016 13:19:24
Pinky, Madrid don't want to sell him but they do need to raise funds. They will try to offload James first I believe and only consider selling Morata if that doesn't happen.

19 Jul 2016 15:47:43
They want to buy Pogba and need to raise funds quickly, hopefully they may have to all Morata.

Pogba is signing for Man utd I believe. Real won't pay the silly money the manc's offer.
