Hi guys so as international break finaly passed I thoiggt i would spice the things up on the banter page with my question.

Name 2 chelsea players which:

Were signed with high expectations but have let you down and one which was signed but you didn't expect him to be anything special but complete surprised you.

My intake would be that biggest downfall signing was shevchenko (sorry if spelt wrong) I really thought he will be extremely succesfull but it seemed yo be otherwise. Secondly the player who really surprised me was Alonso (closely beating Azplicueta) as even though we paid for him quite a sum, there was loads of talks by the fans/ media that he probably will be a flop but look how he turned out to be one of most important/ steady players in our team.

1.) 20 Nov 2018 13:14:47
I think the obvious ones are Torres, Shevchenko and perhaps Falcao as these were all very established players before joining us and, especially Torres and Shevchenko were both quite expensive. I'd like to say Cuadrado, however, as I must admit I really thought he would be a great player for us.
On players that've surprised me positively, I think both Alonso, Azpilicueta and Cahill. However, I think the player that surprised me the most was Courtois, as I never expected him to be anything special when we bought him.

2.) 20 Nov 2018 14:18:21
For the sake of being different I’ll say Morata and Bakayoko were the ones that I thought would be great for us and really disappointed. Oscar as well I thought looked great and really thought he’d be with us for years but then he left before his prime.

For the one that surprised me I’ll go with Marcos Alonso. Remembering him at Sunderland and Bolton, I did not have high hopes at all but that first season under Conte especially, he was immense.

Hi guys, so its me with the weekly question to keep the banter flowing (eds can chip in with their answers too) .

Which Chelsea player (doesn't matter which era) never got the praise he deserved/ deserves? For me by a country mile it was Ivanovic (actually watched loads of All goals scored by Chelsea season by season and Ivanovic had chipped in with some really important ones, not mentioning his ability to play az both RB and CB. And he always seemed like a player who gives his all and is really focused.

1.) 07 Nov 2018 13:24:09
Just pressed send button to soon as also wanted to add that: I remember once we were winning like 3 0 but when Ivanovic scored he was celebrating like he scored a winning goal, it meant so much to him.

2.) 07 Nov 2018 15:27:14
It’s a tough question that because I feel most players did get the credit they deserved at the time but maybe not so much after they left. Mad to say but at times it honestly feels like people forget just how crucial Cech was for us, especially since he went to arsenal. Deco as well was unplayable at times and played a decent role in us winning the double but got a bit unlucky with injuries and is seen as a flop by most people.

3.) 07 Nov 2018 15:37:47
Anelka or Malouda for me. Those guys were incredible at their best!

4.) 07 Nov 2018 17:18:10
Malouda isna great shout, will be remembered by some though for staying that extra year (only for the money) i thought he deserved better.

5.) 07 Nov 2018 17:42:32
john obi Mikel, always gave his all and done the job he was asked, spent along time st club won a lot and even played when had family issues. When not playing never disrupted and spoke to press. Not best player but played a few unreal matches in Europe, v Barcelona etc,

6.) 07 Nov 2018 17:47:11
For me it’s Peter “ Nobby “ Houseman. He was a great player, so underrated.
Unfortunately taken too soon in a car crash.

7.) 07 Nov 2018 17:50:28
I think Obi Mikel is a great shout. Was at the club for a long time and played in some big games. I also think its easy to forget just how good a striker Hasselbaink was for us, I'd take an in form Hasselbaink in our side right now!

8.) 07 Nov 2018 21:01:56
Actually, someone who did get a lot of credit towards the end. Ivanovic. The man was a beast, CB or RB, scored huge goals too. Cup winning goals,

9.) 08 Nov 2018 00:32:23
Hasselbaink was superb.

10.) 08 Nov 2018 12:03:42
Damien Duff, an absolute joy to watch. Robben gets a lot of plaudits for the 04/ 05 season, but Duff was an equal, in my opinion.

And rarely mentioned since he left.

11.) 08 nov 2018 20:01:59
john obi mikel.

12.) 08 Nov 2018 21:21:12
Paul Canoville - amazing that he stayed so long enduring the NF Bulldog abuse from the simple-minded.

13.) 08 Nov 2018 23:27:59
Kevin De Bryune and Lukaku.

14.) 09 Nov 2018 09:25:28
are people really mentioning john obi mikel haha for **** sake he was dreadfull bar his heroic performance in dat cl final. personally id say duff because im irish and he was such a top talent.

15.) 10 Nov 2018 08:08:06
And that champions league final is the biggest trophy that Chelsea has won as a club. Mikel played many good games for Chelsea. He's one of those players that we in Nigeria feel his talent and skills was sacrificed at Chelsea (playing defensive midfield cos he was never a defensive midfielder) . He went to Chelsea when Chelsea had some top midfielders like Lampard, Ballack, Essien, Makalele; despite those big names he still played games and at some point became a regular like in EPL title winning season under Ancelotti. I am Nigerian and we know and saw first hand the kind of talent and skill that Mikel Obi had- which was evident when he ranked as the second best player (behind Lionel Messi) at the World under 23 tournament; up till today a lot of Nigerians are still not happy that he went to Chelsea cos maybe going to Manchester United (Alex Ferguson) would have been the best place for him as a young kid then but Mikel Obi loved Chelsea, he's a hard worker that played for Lampard and Terry (the defense and the midfield) - which is why he stayed long at the club (How's it that all the Chelsea myriad of coaches seemed to like him? I feel there was something that he brought to the team) . True Chelsea legend for me.

Hi guys, just a question from me to keep the banter flowing.

What sale/ release of the Chelsea player upset/ annoyed you the most? Either it be young talent, superstar or player which didn't get his chance.

For me it was Mata (2 years on a row player of the year, and Mourihno treated him terribly) . Also I loved the guy so much as he was my perfect example of how footballers should behave/ act.

1.) 30 Oct 2018 13:34:28
Nathaniel Chalaboa was the deal that upset me the most.

Unfortunately injury has sadly halted his career but I remain hopeful he will be back in the Watford first team sooner rather than later. Followed by being a regular for England.

2.) 30 Oct 2018 14:52:05
If you mean the player that the club willingly let go, I will say Juan Mata; but the player that I never liked his transfer and regret the most is Kevin DeBruyne, I rated him above certain above certain players even before he was sold.

3.) 30 Oct 2018 15:44:23
For release has to be Lamps it was a sad day when he scored against us.

4.) 30 Oct 2018 17:48:30
Soke interested picks boys, i too was really sad when Lamps was released as I still believed he had a role to play foe the club.

5.) 30 Oct 2018 19:52:22
How could I forget the sale of Jimmy Greaves.

For me still one of the top five players ever in a Chelsea shirt.

6.) 30 Oct 2018 23:41:42
So many - Greaves, Osgood, Hudson, Durie, Wilkins, Townsend, Dorigo, Venables, Nevin, Le Saux, Robben, Mata, deBruyne, Chalobah, Lukaku, Salah - so many and that's just off the top of my head.

But the saddest to me was Franco Zola who agreed to leave the summer that Abramovich arrived - Zola deserved a couple of seasons playing with Chelsea competing at the top table.

7.) 31 Oct 2018 18:06:00
Drogba then costa.

18 Oct 2018 01:49:15
Hi Guys I have lost my old Login details so was not commenting (just reading everyday) on the site for about the year.

So my comung back questions to you guys would be.

If you could pick one player from any current PL teams to join Chelsea who it would be and why?

I would probably go for KDB the boy would be amazing in the middle (Salah was a close choice too)

{Ed001's Note - welcome back.}

1.) 18 Oct 2018 07:39:48
Kdb, I was a massive fan of him when we got him from genk and thought he’d go onto something special. I know the Ed’s have said he had an attitude problem or something but that’s not evident at city at all. He’s respected there so he respects the club back. Great player.

2.) 18 Oct 2018 12:05:45
Aguero, need a striker that bangs in the goals regularly.

3.) 18 Oct 2018 12:34:57
RVD would you not better have Kane then? Much younger and better aerial threat.

4.) 18 Oct 2018 16:13:49
pogba in juve form.

5.) 18 Oct 2018 16:40:34
Aguero all Day long, he wins us the league.

6.) 18 Oct 2018 18:03:37
Aguero for me, would suit us more,

7.) 18 Oct 2018 18:06:38
Harry Kane.

CFC shak, i agree that Man City is on another level. But come on, stop believing this rubbish Hype from pundits about Liverpool. They are no where near as good this season as everyone is raving, they got few lucky results and are not playing similarly to what they did last season.

JD the problem is that we need an attacking mid who can score goals from midfield. I have comented below that for me it has to be either barkley or RLC for left mid role and eother Kante or kovavic for right side.

I think the problem is that we have no goal threat from midfield when kovavic, kante and jorginhnk plays.

I do believe that kovavic should rotate with Kante, but for me Kante is too good to be changed therefore there is really no place in starting eleven for kivavic atm.

I am completelly with you Matt, this season our main aim should be to make sure we are at top 4. Maybe win some other trophy too. I think man city will take some catching, can't see why everyone is raving so much about liverpool they look alright but got some really lucky calls of lately (minus Mane goal which should have stood)
