Although it won't happen, Jan Oblak would be a fantastic signing. Genuine world class goalkeeper and would make Atletico need a new No. 1, putting them in for Courtois so we can push the price up.

Love Sarri's reaction to Courtois's behaviour.

In regards to the agent comments yesterday and telling Courtois to man up and say it face to face.

Shows how much of a man he is, but not turning up! Has to let his agent do the talking.

There was a telephone conversation btw Courtois and Sarri last week. It's said that Courtois expressed the willingness to join up with his family. The question is what has been the club's reaction to that since last week.

Reports from Spain suggesting we are going to pay Oblak’s release clause. No way that happens unless we do a Courtois plus cash for him, and this report came out of nowhere. Not sure where these rumors come from. I think we’ll get another midfielder, but I don’t see much truth in Zaha coming in.

But I also want to thank everyone for giving their thoughts on the things I post. I was hesitant to become more involved with this site, but you’ve all been great with your comments!

Oblak for Courtois and money would be the ideal signing. I do think we need another midfielder and we will be up rubbish creek without a paddle if either Kante or Jorginho gets injured. Interesting to see who gets that third midfield place alongside Kante and Jorginho. I’m happy with our RW options, Hudson-Odoi, Willian and Pedro seems enough. I’d love Bailey but is he much better than Hudson-Odoi? I’ve not seen enough to judge.

The rumour mill Matt-24, Sky headline report that they are after Jack Butland for circa: £30m, OK with me as he currently plays in front of a shocking defence but not so popular with others. Tomorrow we will probably read that the target is Pickford; whoever we go after it will need to be in discussion already as we are running out of time.

agreed c1955 selling courtois and buying butland is a massive step down and shows to me the direction were heading.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Aug 2018 20:09:33
It’s not ideal but Butland is home grown slightly younger and will want to be here and I’d much rather a player not as good but with desire and hunger to be at my club rather than a player with bundles of talent but no desire.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2018 20:13:36
I think Butland is just another English overhyped player, and I do not think that any English goalkeeper would be good enough. Matt Law has mentioned Sergio Rico as a possible replacement, and I'd be much more satisfied with him. Obviously, the preferred one would be Oblak, but that just seems impossible.

TBO really isn't that good really isn't if we had known what we know now we should of let him go and kept Pete he would of probs been a lot better letting him go to arsenal is in the same way bothering me letting salah and KDB go and now he's treating the club with no respect let him go and get anyone in that wants to be here. Why not give the young lad bulka a shot.

07 Aug 2018 06:20:46
I see people saying Butland isn’t that good. IMO he is a good replacement. We keep forgetting that tibo has made some big mistakes.

Now I understand why Courtois won't go to Athletico Madrid and why Athletico Madrid won't be keen on having him back; cos he broke certain ties and relationships. The first time he went AWOL was at Athletico Madrid to force his move to Chelsea (his loan move had to be cut short) . This his disappearance act (to force a move) isn't the first time he has done it. For those wondering why Chelsea haven't tried using him in swap deal with Athletico Madrid- that's the case.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Aug 2018 07:40:15
Nope you got that wrong lad. It was before he went to Atletico that he went AWOL. To push through a move to Chelsea. He wanted to stay at Atletico and wasn’t too keen on coming to us in the first place (after his first loan to Madrid) . We signed him from Gent (I think! ) loaned him to Madrid. But now he wants to join their rivals without a care in the world. Nice lad isn’t he 🤣🤣. Very loyal.

Just get him sold as quick as possible, he clearly doesn't want to be here and I don't want players not committed to our club. We're better off with someone who wants to be here.

I’ve never really disliked a Chelsea player but their was something about Courtois that just felt off. I think the success with athleticio went to his head and he got too big for his boots. Oblak would be a very good replacement if true maybe even an upgrade. Butland or even Pickford please Chelsea don’t go there.

i agree nwblue he never felt like a true chelsea player the fans loved like cech i even preferred cudicini and imo they were both better. good luck to him his kids are there and i know what its like to be away from your family and its very difficult so good luck tibo and thanks for the memories.

He one of the best goal keepers in the world and really good at what he does (no hype) . Every club will want to have him in their squad (including Chelsea) ; but If he wants out - fine he should go but replaced with a top goal keeper that isn't Butland.

Hi eds with pogba being offered to Chelsea
And I think him kante and jorginho would be great
I just wondered why CFC after trying to sign him before wouldn't try and sign him
Is it a money issue or a tactical one thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

06 Aug 2018 16:59:11
no worries ed thanks anyway mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if you want my opinion, I very much doubt he would be much of a Sarri-type player anyway, so probably best avoided.}

06 Aug 2018 17:07:07
thanks ed who would suit the role in your opinion its obvious we need one more in there next to kante and jorginho.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I am still not convinced Jorginho was the right signing but it needs someone with energy and who will actually use it, like Allan from Napoli or an in form Bakayoko. Maybe Milinkovic-Savic.}

06 Aug 2018 17:35:07
I just have a feeling we might go for kovacic for that role.

06 Aug 2018 18:05:20
im so glad you said bakayoko i know he's been poor but if he comes good he will be a beast in that role so fingers crossed
i really like him and hopefully he could be our yaya toure.

It's a Shame How No One Seems to REALIZE that we lost because somehow they failed to use @calteck10 like they did is pretty season . Sarri ball is played on the left . It's Worrying why the #8 would rather go through the right or the middle instead of playing on the left .

So what did we learn from yesterday?
1. We still rely heavily upon Hazard and Kante - without them we are average at best.
2. Luiz and Alonso are not suited to a back 4 - don't know what we do about this.
3. Jorgino and Fabregas cannot play together in the Prem - neither can tackle or run.
4. We still have a massive amount of deadwood - why are Cahill, Moses, Drinkwater, Zappacosta, Giroud, Fabregas, still at the club - none of them are good enough for a top 4 team.
5. Tammy Abraham makes more incisive runs and looks far more of a handful than Morata.
6. Hudson-Odoi has to start - I don't understand why Sarri hasn't played him on the right-wing allowing a 3 of Hudson-Odoi Abraham Hazard.
7. Ross Barkley flatters to deceive - he does something good and then vanishes for half an hour - if you speak to any Everton fan, they will chuckle before telling you that he was exactly the same at Everton. I predict that Barkley will become deadwood by Christmas.
8. We desperately need 3 more players including a GK. Ramsey and Zaha will do for me plus Kasper.

I predict a long, hard season.

You’re a joker, Drinkwater was in a team that won the league, Fabregas has won the league with us twice, Giroud has won the World Cup and Cahill has won everything at club level with chelsea. All of these players were starters.

We’re not good enough, but stop scapegoating players. Cheer up, don’t be so negative. You’re taking football too seriously.

Agree4 Disagree3

06 Aug 2018 15:49:59
We desperately need Zaha or any fast winger, that can terrorize defences to complement hazard Doug at the other flank.
I don't know what fabregas is still doing at the club.
Then we need to change Granovskaia.

06 Aug 2018 16:22:20
Standard spot on sir.

Agree0 Disagree2

06 Aug 2018 17:15:59
That's ridiculous, Standard - players get older and slower - yes, we should celebrate the contribution that Fabregas and Cahill have made to the club but their time has gone - why not bring back Zola and Dennis Wise? Cos they are not good enough any more - that doesn't mean that I don't bow deeply before them still. And are you really saying that Drinkwater and Giroud are good enough if we want to compete with Man City and United? And are you suggesting that we should sign Leonardo Ulloa or Jeffrey Schlupp or Wes Morgan, all of whom have also won the league!?

Agree1 Disagree1

06 Aug 2018 17:16:23
Trouble is that we cannot offload certain players to bring in new
The eds have consistently stated who is available ie drinkwater etc but at the wages and prices wanted or paid are too high
Clubs are leaving it late to see if expectations are lowered
Hence no to little movement in a lot of top 6 squads

Live in hope but no expectations.

I went to the game yesterday and saw a team that was very much in transition.

You can't really compare City's team who've had 2 years of coaching by a manager who is probably the best coach ever to 2 weeks of Sarri trying to implement a brand new style.

Last year we played counter attacking football which meant we could conserve energy for large chunks of the game before exploding out when we regained possession. With Sarri's pressing style, we just aren't fit enough to cope with it yet. And to be fair, Klopps and Guardiolas teams were similar when they first started out. Both have lost to some silly teams along the ways to becoming the ruthless machines they are now.

We actually played ok in the first half. We ended up with 54% of possession at half time against a team that usually dominates in that area. My main worry is that we look very toothless upfront. Morata looks like a deer in headlights. He definitely wasn't getting the service but shouldve dropped deeper to get more involved like Kane did in the World Cup. Barkley looks like a middleweight boxer who has stumbled onto the pitch. Fabregas doesn't have the legs for the Prem anymore. Jorginho was playing well for about 30 mins then Man City got wise and clobbered him with 3 people every time he got the ball. If we are going to play through the middle of the park like that, you need midfield enforcers to protect him. He's basically now our 'star quarterback' who will spray balls into the danger areas. Luiz cannot play in a two at the back. Positionally he is one of he worst players in our team because he loves to bomb forward and regularly leaves gaps. It's got to be Christiansen or Cahill starting against Huddersfield. I'd be tempted to move Azpilicueta back inside and put Moses out on RB. That's my two cents anyway, feel free to disagree! Come on Chelsea!
