That was a performance of team courage and has to make the players believe they can turn it around at the Bridge with the crowd behind them. The downside is obviously the substitution of a player that appears to have completely lost the desire, Eden Hazard. This is not just out of form it is a whole lot more.

It's being reported that Simeone is a done deal to take over in June - hope it's true.

TBH I am not sure what kind of football we would play under Simeone. Have to admit that really like watching Atletico Madrid but they also struggle with lesser teams if there are any lesser teams in premiership.

Totally agree with comments Tony Cascarino has said about hazard sick of all the comments around moves in the summer he needs to start contributing to the team on the pitch he needs to look at himself compared to last years and how does he think he would fit in these so called top teams on current form he would warm the bench he was happy to be a Chelsea when he signed his contract extension
Sorry end of rant
Good luck to the boys who want to be at Chelsea tonight.

Does anyone on here regularly go and watch the Reserves side in Aldershot? Be interested to hear what people have to say about some of those lads.

Also a regular loan watch (like the Musonda watch) would be really interesting I think to follow if anyone out there wants to do it/ has time.

Long shots!

Just hope the team puts in a good shift tonight. Hopefully not the negative away tactics used similar to last season. We have a great array of attacking players and I don't see us progressing if we try to play defensive football.

I only see us winning with defensive tactics.

in fact, drawing. imo a win is out of the question.

We have to make sure we score an away goal otherwise the tie is lost. I don't see us not conceding especially without terry and matic so we bond to make sure we give ourselves a chance at the bridge because they will probably get an away goal there too.

(Old poster back from the grave) - Miss the long posts of 2012/ 2013 era when people had proper discussions about Chelsea, tactics, players etc. However, don't believe I can just sit here reading and saying I miss it, without contributing towards its recovery.

I'm thinking PSG will score at home tonight too. Know all too well about away goals with this lot so we really need to try and get one especially as PSG missing their RB (van der wiel tonight so will likely replace with Marquinhos.

Hopefully we can counter quickly with Azpi and Rahman joining in when the time's right. I imagine Mikel and Fab will start as DMs with Willian, Oscar, Hazard in front (however think Hazard would have been benched if Matic was fit due to his comments) . Then Costa up front and to score, come on the Chels!

Actually I am pretty happy with our line-up, hopefully pedro will have a fantasti game as he owns us one.

And if he fails I don't see any difference between him (when he is poor) or oscar (when he is poor too) .

Of course huge concerns lay in our defense as it is first time they will play like this the whole match, and mikel in the team means we will be defending!

Just wondering what any of the eds views where regarding possible departures in the summer of Chelsea players, with no European football next season. Do you see hazard possibly leaving? and does Costa have an interest in moving back to Spain?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I did not know that there will be no European football next season.}

16 Feb 2016 13:15:12
Ok. IF there is no European football for Chelsea next season.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - European football will make no difference in terms of players leaving or not. If an acceptable offer is made to the for any player, including Hazard, then the club will not stand in the way of a player leaving.}

Does anyone else see RLC getting a rare start tomorrow?

With Terry and Zouma out Hiddink is going to want to protect the back four; which will probably be Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill and Baba. However, Matic is also out and I think we'll see a deep midfield three of Mikel, RLC and Fabregas.

16 Feb 2016 09:39:42
IMO, no chance. I'm not convinced RLC is tactically disciplined enough for that role away to PSG - particularly as pretty much every appearance this season has been in a more advanced midfield role.

I think we'll see a tight-knit central three of Mikel, Fabregas and Oscar (or Willian, depending on how Guus wants to play it) .

id can't see it at all, he has been piss poor in his last couple stints. granted they were sub appearances but look at alli and Barkley, they showed their worth from there initial sub appearances. more likely to see willian Oscar AND fabrgegas sitting deep and centrally. counter with willian pushing up and combing with costa/ hazards hold up play.
mayb Kennedy could do a job in CDM with his desire and energy, he has played LB a few times too. going to be a interesting side.

16 Feb 2016 11:42:23
I think Mourinho was correct about RLC, he is very talented but goes missing in the game. Against Newcastle when he got the ball he surged forward, has good feet BUT when he losses the ball or his pass is intercepted he ambles back whereas a Willian shows determine to chase back. Sometimes he looks as if he is sulking.

16 Feb 2016 12:14:19
I think he has quite deceptive movement in terms of his body shape. very similar to Ballack - he can cover a lot of ground but doesn't look like he is busting a gut. I still think he would be a better box to box player (like Ramires was) however he'll need to right opportunities to develop and show his qualities.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2016 14:18:12
When he plays in a more defensive position he gets more stuck in and surges forward but also knows to get back. I feel that he doesn't really know how to play in the hole so he gets a bit lost, but when he plays slightl deeper when he can win the ball and surge we have seen his best performances as he knows how to play and is more tactically aware.

What is going on? it is February and Guus Hiddink for the second time has said Eden Hazard is NOT fit. We have had other fitness issues earlier in the season so what has gone wrong. I commented after Saturday's game that Hazard does not look interested.

I posted on here a month or two ago that Ivanovich is actually a CB playing at RB and with our resources and at our level why are we playing players out of position.
I actually believe that playing Iva and Cahill as CB's and Dave at right (his natural position where he provides more in attack) and Baba at left (his natural position, he hasn't been required to defend in his limited appearances, so we don't know whether he may be more than capable) could allow us to actually attack PSG at their place and therefore unleash our midfield and striker/ s.
I still think Ivanovich is a fantastic CB, but certainly not a RB as this seasons performances have proved.
Attacking PSG at their home could result in a very good result for us so I'm predicting 2-0 to us. if Guus follows my strategy.
I still maintain that JT (yes, legend and all ) is now holding our team back from being what it can be, solely due to the body not now being able to match the mind. Our style of play will not change until JT is retired. Very sad, but time to move on!

That's a good post Pete and one which I agree on. Not sure about the 0-2 but Branna is a better CB than JT nowadays for the reasons you mentioned.

gianfranco gola, line went dead just as we got connected pmsl bugger!
I'm pleased for Baba tonight, I thought he showed why we paid the money we did and I think he will improve hugely now he's had a run out in a real game. I feel it's unfair to give fringe and youth players a start in "easy" cup games, they're almost in a no win situation. Throw them in the deep end, if they are Chelsea quality they will lift and show it, if they're not they won't and we move them on. Top players take their chances when given against top opposition. Due to circumstances this back four got their opportunity tonight and imo will only improve. Won't be at all surprised if this back four are not our "first pick" for the remainder of the season.
And yes the 2-0 probably came from the heart not the head G8. I'm pretty happy with the away goal and where we are at after that game though.

As long as we get an away goal, I'll be happy!

If Terry and Matic were available, I could see us trying to contain them for a 0-0 result. as it is, I think it'll be 1-1 or 2-1 to PSG.
