Hopefully rumours about Kante are BS.
Am I right Ed002?

antibot

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what rumours you are talking about.}

1.) 27 Aug 2020 22:20:08
Just to clarify, I don't want him to go and I don't think what he does can be replicated to the same level. But, I do think there's a strong chance he will move on in this window.

2.) 28 Aug 2020 06:56:42
J; I think every good player leaves or is/ can/ will be replaced at one point or another in their career; the right question we should ask ourselves (if we have decided to replace Kante) is, ‘how does the club replace a good player like Kante without the detrimental effects of him leaving showing on the team? ’.

{Ed047's Note - wow that’s the first time I’ve seen Kante described as a “good” player.

3.) 28 Aug 2020 07:06:56
Kante can not be replaced.

{Ed047's Note - I’ve been absolutely gob smacked to see some Chelsea fans happy to get rid of him. Mental

4.) 28 Aug 2020 07:27:25
You don't look for a like for like individual replacement. It was impossible to replace what Lampard or Terry did as individuals, but as a team we continued to be successful without them.

There isn't a player in world football who could replicate what Kante does for the team as a direct replacement, but as a squad we would move on and continue to be successful.

{Ed047's Note - so you’d be fine if he left now?

5.) 28 Aug 2020 07:42:58
Guys there are bad, good, great players and then there are once in a generational talents who you don't move out till they retire ( Terry, lamps, Drogba, kante) . I would prefer we keep him till he doesn't push for move and train a prodigy like ampadu under his tutelage. Even if he can become 50 percent of the legend that kante is then we would be good for 10 years. So for no sale of kante for next 6 years for me.

6.) 28 Aug 2020 07:50:34
I'm always as disgusted as the Ed on how some of us think kante should be replaced. I once said that kante's less influence in the team is down to Lampard's shortcoming rather than kante's weakness.
He only had injury hit season and will be back again to his best. Not every player is sold just because he's getting to the 30 year mark.

7.) 28 Aug 2020 07:34:12
No, I don't want him to go. But I'm not going to tear up my panini sticker book in a tantrum if he does go.

{Ed047's Note - each to there own J but you’d be considerably weaker without him.

8.) 28 Aug 2020 09:39:14
As I understand it Kante will only be leaving if he wants to leave. Again as far as I know he hasn’t expressed any desire to leave. So, at the moment it’s all academic.

Some people refer to his age and supposed “injury problems” as a reason to sell. Let’s be clear, he is a class act and if he is fit he plays!

Anyway, if Mane is being valued at €200mil by some Liverpool fans than Kante has to be worth €201mil.

9.) 28 Aug 2020 09:40:45
Kante is simply not replaceable in my opinion. I doubt he will be sold unless he asks to leave which is fair enough. Kante in the team makes it 12 men.

10.) 28 Aug 2020 09:40:38
We'll see what happens Ed.

I will say that, should he stay, the management will have to be smart about how and when they choose to use him.

I wouldn't expect him to play week in, week out, in the all action manor that he does. I think this would result in more injuries, which isn't good for anyone concerned.

{Ed047's Note - what were his injuries that are so concerning J?

11.) 28 Aug 2020 11:17:37
Great to hear your view on Kante ED047.I was having this conversation on here with someone recently. Why on earth would you sell your best player. Some posters play too much play station. 😀.

{Ed047's Note - he’s incredible G8 and I’d have him in a heart beat, play the guy in his right position which Sarri and initially, Frank weren’t doing and he is awesome mate.

One of my favourite players and such a great guy too.

12.) 28 Aug 2020 11:49:46
For those that think Kante should be moved on perhaps you remember when Makalele was considered surplus to requirements at Real Madrid?
It weakened Real considerably defensively and, strengthened us massively.
Anything that weakens us, defensively this season would be a very risky move by the club.

13.) 28 Aug 2020 11:52:00
He missed a lot of football this past season with little injuries.

14.) 28 Aug 2020 11:56:43
No you can't replace Kante he hasn't been played in his most effective position
To replace him we would need 2 players as a Chelsea fan who loved makalele when he was at Chelsea well Kante covers twice as much ground reads the game as good as makalele did and offers way more going forward too in a team of youngsters his experience is going to be as valuable as his ability is
For me it would ruin the best transfer window for years if we let our only true world class player leave.

15.) 28 Aug 2020 12:05:37
Very good point Turvey.

A fully fit Kante would be awesome for us this season.

16.) 28 Aug 2020 12:49:14
Thanks Ed002.

17.) 28 Aug 2020 14:10:06
I know it isn’t palatable to hear that Kante can/ will or should be replaced but be prepared guys cos it will come a day when you will hear that Kante is leaving the club and someone will come as his replacement; will his replacement be able to do the job? That I can’t tell.

18.) 28 Aug 2020 14:49:49
Of course he will leave but he retires from football at CFC.

19.) 28 Aug 2020 15:11:58
I don’t think Kante will retire at Chelsea TomB, I think he’s too good a player to retire at Chelsea (I am not saying that he’s better than other great players that has retired at the club) rather I feel the beauty of a player (like Kante) having so much value is that you sell him for a good sum after he must have played for you for some years and reinvest (like we did with Eden Hazard) that is if he (Kante) wants to leave.

20.) 28 Aug 2020 15:25:08
From your mouth to gods ears TomB.

31 Aug 2017 17:22:31
Allegedly Chelsea did bid 50m€ for Mahrez.

antibot

1.) 31 Aug 2017 18:45:56
Don't believe it. BEin sports the one reporting it and they haven't exactly been reliable. Said Ox was going to sign a contract with us and said Coutinho was going to Barcelona. Nobody even knows where the damn guy is 😂. Would love him but can't see it.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 21:26:21
believe it when i see it.

14 Aug 2017 09:16:36
Ed sorry for bothering you but last 2 or 3 days they've been some rumours about Chelsea interest in Ivan Perisic. Have you heard anything about it?

antibot

{Ed002's Note - Summer enquiries about the availability of Inter's winger Ivan Perisic were made of, but not by, Chelsea, Manchester United and Napoli by his agent who asked for clarity over the arrival of another winger at Inter. Spurs put an offer on the table for the player as a means of opening discussions with Inter - but they were not interested in selling. The player wants to stay and the club want him to stay but they had a major financial issue to resolve by June 30 and were offering him to English clubs at €10M off the high asking price in order to get a commitment for a sale in June. That never happened and the price went up and to date Manchester United has failed to match it.}

1.) 14 Aug 2017 12:39:28
Thanks a lot ed!

09 Aug 2017 14:36:41
Ed002 I am not asking you about transfers often, but considering that Alex Sandro will be very difficult to sign for Chelsea, are there other left backs that Chelsea could try to sign instead?

antibot

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there are indeed other left backs that Chelsea might look to sign but their preference is for Alex Sandro. Or perhaps BR will stay?}

1.) 09 Aug 2017 14:46:03
Baba Rahman has a demon of a cross, just putting that out there lol.

2.) 09 Aug 2017 14:51:18
Think it would be good to give baba a proper chance, I know he was suspect at defending but is still young and does have potential.

3.) 09 Aug 2017 15:03:55
might be better at Lwb too. still hoping Sandro tho but looks difficult.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 16:50:15
Good to know they haven't given up on Sandro, but think it will be very difficult to prise him away from Juve. Rahman is overcoming a serious injury isn't he? Would have thought another loan would be on the cards.

{Ed002's Note - He is one of the players that are not expected to be at the club next season.}

5.) 09 Aug 2017 20:26:13
Ed002, would you consider telling us who the other left back chelsea are looking at please? If they cannot secure Sandro? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The want Sandro.}

6.) 09 Aug 2017 21:35:19
Rahman probably wouldn't be the worst option at LWB if he got fit. Good crossing, explosive athlete, good dribbling and aggressive. Positionally he needs some work and guidance, but that problem would be lessened by him playing wingback opposed to fullback.

7.) 09 Aug 2017 21:21:53
So going full out for him then! Will Baba Rahman stay should they be unable to prise Sandro away?

{Ed002's Note - Not necessarily.}

8.) 09 Aug 2017 21:46:35
Interesting that we're still persuing him after Juve have come out numerous times saying he isn't leaving although we have heard that before from them with previous players. Glad the board is still trying though as he's been the one most fans have been excited about. As a lot of people have said i reckon this could go down to the last few days of the window but it'd be worth it if we can get him.

02 Aug 2017 00:55:45
Chelsea had one of the worst transfer windows in last 15-20 years . I can believe Drinkwater rumours.

antibot

1.) 02 Aug 2017 03:38:00
* had?
The window isn't even over yet mate. Judge the window when it shuts.

2.) 02 Aug 2017 03:51:12
stop being a troll antibot. you are always at it.

3.) 02 Aug 2017 07:11:28
I am not trolling for sure.Whoever understands football and supports Chelsea should be worried. And I'm not worried about lack of signing or breaking the bank for marquee signings. I'm worried about quality of the squad. That's it.We have probably one of the best coaches in the world and I'm also afraid that we might lose him because the board is unable to attract serious players.

4.) 02 Aug 2017 08:27:46
What? We've sold off fringe players from last year, added a few new faces who would grace pretty much a lot of the top teams in Europe, wouldn't actually say we've gone backwards or anything. A few new addictions and we'll be fine. Jesus man, some people thinking this is the worst window we've had? Would love to have seen you when we were signing the likes of Jes Hogh, Robert Fleck and the likes. You'd have a nervous breakdown.

Unable to attract serious players? Morata not a serious player? Bakayoko not a serious player? Hazard not a serious player. We've got "serious" players already at the club. Jeez man get a grip . Ed002 and the others, I now know why you get so p**sed off with this page.

Hurry up end of August.

{Ed001's Note - I wonder how people coped when Chelsea were outside the top flight?}

5.) 02 Aug 2017 08:49:11
CFCAdam I can see that football is not your sport(perhaps baseball or cricket).Or maybe you are stubborn teenager. You obviously have no idea what dressing room means and how important it is. Morata had only 20 appearances for Real Madrid last season(that's fringe player).Bakayoko is promising kid with no PL experience( recovering from surgery).Whatever you think about Costa he is top player. So is Matic. So please stick to your baseball or cricket.
Guys like you will start nagging first like 2 years ago.

{Ed001's Note - Bakayoko has plenty of Champions League experience and is hardly a kid, he is 22. I think you need to stop with the idiotic insults or go back to twitter with the other trolls.}

6.) 02 Aug 2017 09:02:30
Mate, it's beggars belief. I suppose a successful side like us attracts the football manager and Fifa players and expects us to replicate whatever goes on in the game, in real life. Crazy!

But yeah don't get me wrong I love seeing us where we are today, but some days I'd take the 90's all over again! Spencer, Peacock. Hitchcock! When all we did was live in hope that we beat United and Liverpool. We knew we'd always get a result at Three Point Lane. 😉😉. Miss those days!

{Ed001's Note - long gone sadly when people just enjoyed the game for its own sake.}

7.) 02 Aug 2017 09:09:39
This is the kind of post (and there seems to have been more than a few of these the past few weeks, from various members) that really gets my goat. Full of negativity, condescending and more importantly, incorrect.

If this is the kind of post that gets published, I dread to think what else gets sent in.

I'm going to take a step back from contributing to the boards until the end of the transfer window as it feels like wading through a treacle river of despair!

Best of luck Ed's, I appreciate your work. :)

Steve.

8.) 02 Aug 2017 09:47:02
Far fetched post again Antibot and similar to a previous one from you. I would take it easy mate, I understand your concerns also hinder around our squad depth and let's be honest it is a concern but we still have a few weeks to get players in. I'm sure Chelsea are working on it.

I would completely disagree that this has been the worst transfer window. Morata, Bakayoko and Rudiger are great additions who will work brilliantly alongside Hazard, Pedro, willian, kante etc. Have faith mate.

9.) 02 Aug 2017 09:47:43
yes, we have sold a few. but the players we have brought it are exciting young talent. still 20 odd days left. don't worry.

10.) 02 Aug 2017 13:03:41
I've looked like a negative nancy for a week or so on here and looking at them now i can understand why it's annoyed people. Players we've brought in isn't the problem for me, it's what we've sold. Ake and Chalobah were hard to take since i really thought we could've needed them this year and especially since they're homegrown from our academy. I know they wanted to leave, and i know the board will replace them. But it's fair to say Conte is maybe the most loved manager we've ever had by our fans and seeing him leave would be painful. That's why i worry maybe our squad isn t good enough to compete in 4 competitions. But like you said there's still a lot of time left in the window so i'll tone it down and judge when it closes.

11.) 02 Aug 2017 15:11:39
move to block antibot haha. i've been back and forward over the years, though i forgot my login and just worked it out again so im back

we lierally get all of our top targets and its the worst window ever!?!?! get a grip

yes we need a couple of wing backs and a cm and even then we might be a bit light up front.

but worst transfer window ever lol. malouda anyone?

{Ed001's Note - you don't even need to go back that far though, what about the season before last? That was a bit of a mess and it ended in the team meltdown. This season has been difficult rather than terrible, I would say.}

12.) 02 Aug 2017 18:14:36
Well in Jimmy, shak, Adam and Ed and . I fully agree.

We've a load of money in our pocket, we have champions league, and a winning season to build on. I expect a busy month.

Antibot, try to be decent.

13.) 02 Aug 2017 23:41:21
relax boys we signed a back up keeper for free and sold begovic for 10 million he never looked good for chelsea so dat was good buisness. bakayoko replaces matic in the squad rudiger and christianson were added to replace terry an zouma . morata as costas replacement . we have d likes of boga am fabregas willian batshuayi etc all on our bench possibly wev a good squad confident squad aswell don't see what all the panic stations are about.

14.) 03 Aug 2017 20:05:50
It may just be me but I'd bet a fair few of you on here feel the same as I do; I remember the pre-roman days (not too well mind, he bought the club when I was 11) and being excited for the season regardless who we signed, I still feel the same now. I would like to think our club would remain competitive without paying crazy pogba/ neymar fees as we are ran responsibly. I don't like the thought of our club/ our fans being bemused at a lack of transfer activity when last season we won the league? If it's not broken - don't fix it! We all know we need a few players to bolster the squad but I couldn't really care less if we sign anyone between now and the end of the window or not, I'm proud we won't pay over the odds for players and proud that we are reinventing our reputation from the days of throwing money at problems but that's just my opinion. From the cradle to the grave!

Ross Barkley not good enough for Chelsea!

antibot

1.) 04 Oct 2020 21:14:01
He is on loan not sold.

He had a good game today but he had good games for us as well. He can be very inconsistent but I hope it works out well for him.

2.) 04 Oct 2020 21:25:58
I posted a few days ago that I was sorry to see him loaned out as he offered a physical presence in midfield plus some goals and assists, and still am sorry. If he can maintain fitness and consistency I would much hope he will be back with us next season.

3.) 04 Oct 2020 21:45:23
I agree Tom. He was average for us. There was a lot of pressure on him in our team and he deserved to go out to a team with more regular football if he wants to have a spot in the National team.
Hope everything turns out fine for him.

4.) 04 Oct 2020 22:37:57
think the year 2020 has been taken over by Aliens from another planet. Have we all been drugged and spent the year in a coma and all having the same dreams/ nightmares. Will we all wake up to normality on Jan 1 2021.

5.) 04 Oct 2020 23:19:42
Christ talk about reactionary. Zappacosta scored from 25 yards for Genoa the other day, should be get him back to replace James or Dave?

6.) 05 Oct 2020 08:52:42

04 Oct 2020 20:45:42
Aston Villa is a sad example how cowardly Chelsea played vs Liverpool.

antibot

1.) 04 Oct 2020 20:53:02
I prefer the term negative to “cowardly” but as I’ve said before for me the false nine sends out a message that your only interested in the counter attack .

Havertz coming from deep would IMO really have hurt the Scousers but it’s all water under the bridge and pure guesswork.

2.) 04 Oct 2020 21:39:33
We had no wingers. We’ll be different with Pulisic and Ziyech. But teams give Liverpool too much respect and sit deep. Villa did not let them play easily from the back. Hats off to the villa lads.

3.) 04 Oct 2020 22:07:30
We did have two CF’s and chose to play a false nine. For me that was us being timid and showing the Scousers to much respect.

4.) 05 Oct 2020 06:49:18
Football isn’t necessarily maths which says 1+1=2.

5.) 05 Oct 2020 08:53:53
I was referring to aproach to the game.

6.) 05 Oct 2020 11:54:10
They also were missing Allison, Henderson, and Mane. Take a breather. I didn’t hear a soul on here before the game saying we should go for the jugular.

7.) 05 Oct 2020 12:35:31
Not go for the “jugular” but I think I said I wasn’t happy with a false nine when the team was announced but maybe I’m dreaming again!

02 Oct 2020 13:23:15
To play efficiently 4231 Chelsea needs to sign 1 more CDM/ CM, 1 more winger (preferably left footed) and 1 more top CB.

antibot

1.) 02 Oct 2020 14:07:04
4-3-3 it is then.

2.) 02 Oct 2020 16:57:49
433 means no Havertz or Mount.

3.) 02 Oct 2020 17:43:02
Not true antibot, 4-3-3 formation will accommodate Havertz or Mount, I think either of both will do well in a 4-3-3 formation. Havertz’s best best position is on the right hand side of the midfield in a 4-3-3 formation; while Mount would do well on the left hand side of the midfield in a 4-3-3 formation. what I can’t tell is how balanced the midfield would be if both of them play at the same time (in the midfield) in a 4-3-3 formation.

4.) 02 Oct 2020 18:50:09
We'll play lots. of different systems throughout a game, let alone a season.

29 Sep 2020 20:17:16
It seems that decision not to sign Regulion was right.

antibot

1.) 29 Sep 2020 21:11:10
more like ED002 was right . he is very one footed.

21 Sep 2020 23:20:21
IMHO best tactical option for Chelsea would be:
GK: Mendy, Caballero
RB: Azpilicueta, James
LB: Chilwel, Emerson
CB: Silva, Rudiger, Zouma, Tomori, Christensen, Alonso
CDM:Kante, Jorginho
CM:Kovačić, Barkley, Mount, RLC
CAM:Ziyech, Havertz
ST:Giroud, Werner, Pulišić, Abraham
Formation: 41212 narrow.

antibot

1.) 22 Sep 2020 09:15:58
4-1-2-1-2 doesn’t suit this group of players it’s got to be 4-2-3-1 if we sign Rice.

Mendy

James Zouma Silva Chilwell

Kante Rice

Ziyech Havertz Pulisic

Werner

Title winning seen IMO just dependant on how long it takes to gel. We really should have kept Ampadu though would have been perfect next to Kante. Give Havertz the 10 role don’t put him out wide he’s best when arriving late in the box. Could also go 4-4-2 on goal kicks to help with headers with Werner.

2.) 22 Sep 2020 09:23:33
agree with the team selection Californiablue.

3.) 22 Sep 2020 11:27:25
I’m sure it won’t happen and I’m probably alone in wanting to see it over 90mins but I would like to see James as our DM on Wednesday.

If I understood well Sarri will replace Conte (personally I think Conte is the best solution for Chelsea) and we are expected to switch to 433. To play 433 one must have 6 central midfielders from which 2 central defensive midfielders. 4 is not enough. Also if Hazard and Willian are about to leave the club I don't see possibility to switch to 433 without investing a lot of money for at least two wingers.

Our problem is a central midfield without Kante. Bakayoko is useless and Fabregas doesn't really fit in 2 central midfield. So Azpilicueta is an amazing solution compared to our central midfield problem.
