Hi Ed, without getting into specifics on names etc, in the eventuality Hazard leaves for Real Madrid this summer and Chelsea can sign players, do you think they'd look to try and recruit a direct replacement, or continue their policy of buying players on the younger end of the spectrum with as yet unrealised potential (a la Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Salah, Pulisic etc)

Cheers!

{Ed001's Note - the latter.}

Good, that's how it should be.

Ed002 - a cheeky short term question: do you think there's any realistic chance Chelsea could sack Sarri given the way things are going?

And a hopefully less cheeky and longer term one, is the progress on the DoF front quite recent?

Sambuca

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are not looking to "sack" Sarri at this point but it was previously agreed a third party would look at the training sessions. The club are actively looking to put a DoF in place and there have been discussions with candidates.}

1.) 11 Feb 2019 17:32:27
And those candidates would be? ( worth a try )

{Ed002's Note - Unimportant.}

2.) 11 Feb 2019 17:50:21
Ballack and Belletti are two that spring to mind.

3.) 11 Feb 2019 20:43:09
im not interested in who ed but why would a 3rd party take care of training sessions is sarri and zola not cutting it or have the players said to the board we need someone else.

{Ed002's Note - That is not what I said.}

4.) 11 Feb 2019 20:43:25
thanks for any info sorry.

5.) 11 Feb 2019 23:27:43
What would be the benefit of a 3rd party reviewing session ed? Have there been reservations about the training?

{Ed002's Note - is not at all uncommon for leading clubs to have some one they trust come in and look at things are going - many clubs, particularly Chelsea have done it over the years.}

6.) 11 Feb 2019 23:43:37
Ed can i ask who is this third party?

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

Do you know about the clubs plans to deal long-term with the role Emenalo played at the club? As in, is it being absorbed into other roles or is he being replaced at some point?

Why does that make us a joke of a club? Sarri was brought in to deliver on a particular brief and from my perspective hasn't actually done that yet. I know Ed says the club won't be looking to "kow-tow" to fans, but I doubt they can ignore the general discontent especially around season ticket renewal time.

If the fans don't like Sarri, he's not particularly bothered about doing anything to address that, and he hasn't delivered the kind of "dynamic, attacking football" he was brought to implement, maybe it's best to part ways and have another crack with someone else?

The argument I always see re: Sarri's inability to make progress in the actual football being played is that the players are crap or unable to adapt, and I just don't agree with that. It's a very talented group.

You can argue the toss over various bits and pieces of the situation but I don't think anyone could say it's working out right now.
