I think that's the best post I've ever read on here mate and have been on here about 15 years if I could write as eloquently as you that would be exactly what I would write

NICE ONE.

OscarAY, a Brilliant post that I hope many of my fellow posters will read and enjoy.

It put into words exactly how I feel. Thanks mate.

Thanks for the article oscarAY. The main issue I have with the team is around not seeing identifiable methods, structures and patterns of play. Conversely, that is definitely affected by the bloated squad and injuries, particularly to key players.

A pre-season with a trimmed down, settled squad would be the ideal position, hopefully with Potter and his team in place.

Creating a list of excuses doesn't change the reality of the situation.
He isn't and never will be an elite coach.
The argument to give him more time takes no account of the damage he has already done and the further damage he will do to the club both from a sporting and financial standpoint
When he finally leaves Chelsea will our nearest competitors City/ Utd/ Liverpool/ Arsenal be clamouring for his services?
Of course not if he's lucky maybe the 2nd tier club like Spurs but more likely WestHam.

They are not excuses they are well articulated opinions.

K drog
Second tier team like spurs who are 4th in league just beaten us comfortably and have a stadium 50 per cent bigger than ours
Be humble when it is needed mate.

Tom, it was obvious what your response to Drog would be but we all agree with people who share our opinions, he made some valid points but it is a matter of opinion, what this site is all about. I think he should be careful referring to Spurs as second tier: they have a world class 21st century stadium, a top coach and the only thing they lack is investment in the squad. I fear unless there are drastic improvements we will be chasing their tails next season as well.

When he leaves our nearest rivals will be / are Fulham Brentford villa.

They are excuses for the most disastrous series of performances by a Chelsea team for decades.
We have barely scored for the last 10 games let alone perform.
But let's ignore the fact that most of our new signings have got progressively worse under Potter and with the exception of Tiago no one is performing from the old guard.
And let's ignore that his best run of results was when he took over TT team and since he has had time with them confidence and performances have fallen to an unacceptable low.
But let's give him more time to do more damage?
No thanks.

Jimbo, I’m just stating the obvious that Oscar put forward well articulated opinions.

Opinions are allowed on both sides of any debate.

I will give my opinion if I agree or disagree with any poster and certainly don’t care if my opinions are obvious.

I’m also not forcing anyone to respond to my opinions.

Drog, you like everyone else are entitled to there opinion but if another poster puts up different opinions to you they are not “excuses” because you disagree with them.

They are valid but different opinions.

It's going to be hard to sack GP due to amount of money involved in sacking.

Good Post mate,

Anyway you only need to look at our position with him as manager compared to all premier league teams.

And we would be in relegation fight!

We spent more than can be imagined.

But worst is that our team has no identity or tactics.

I have asked members and even eds on this site for past 2 months (maybe more) to explain our tactics and never got the answer.

Reasons why he should be sacked are:

1st. Our results which are relegation form.

2nd. Our tactics or lack of it.

3rd. Neither of the players improved under his guidance (actually most got worse)

4th. He never coached a top team and seems to be out of his depth.

5th. His changes during the match are terrible (putting left back on instead of midfielder when we are losing the game)

6th. Has 100 excuses rather than blames himself (minus Spurs game)

7th. He is only here because Toed is scared to sack him as this would show that he made a mistake by sacking TT (this though is my own point not based on any evidence)

Lrdit reckless spending has nothing to do with GP.

Lrdit, a good counter argument and you make some reasonable observations in my opinion.

Just a couple of things.

1) I can remember Jose and TT making similar and surprising substitutions in games and I’m sure there have been plenty of so called top managers at other clubs doing the same thing.

2) The club hasn’t spent more than it can afford.

3) Coaches of so called top teams very rarely start there career at top teams.

4) There is zero evidence that TB is scared to sack GP or anyone else. Ask TT.

5) using ETH as example is convenient, why not use Arteta, Klopp and I’m not sure Pep pulled up any trees in his first season.

6) some of GP’s post match comments have made me angry but then so did the Jose rants, the TT snipes or the Sarri boredom. For me generally managers make things worse when they over protect individuals.

Our club has had success at winning trophies and sacking managers under RA. Maybe some fans think it’s good or the secret to our success.

Or, maybe we could have been even more successful if we had stuck with some of our managers for longer period.

Anyway in tough times I will focus now on supporting my club, manager and the players even more now.

One billion worth of players in our squad currently 10th/ 11th in the league and we have scored 6 TIMES IN 15 MATCHES.
No 'opinion'these are FACTS.
This hasn't just happened has it?
It's been an ongoing erosion of confidence and performance levels EVEN in the players we signed in January with the exception of Badiashile so far.
The common denominator is the manager not an 'opinion' a fact.
The manager making excuses not only solves nothing but sends entirely the wrong message to the players who despite the transfer fees need leadership see Emma Hayes interviews if in doubt.
The owners took a huge gamble in signing a promising mid table manager whose previous team had a good season but struggled to score regularly and guess what has happened at Chelsea despite our resources.
I have no idea why anyone is surprised by the situation or feels the need to defend the appalling state of affairs.
The job is too big for him accept it and move on.

Drog, as I’ve said several times before you are probably going to get what you want.

We will then move onto another manager who may or may not be successful. There are no guarantees in football.

It will be interesting to see how some posters react if after X amount of games things haven’t changed. I suppose then it will be the owners fault for buying unproven players.

In my opinion this constant desire for instant success is not sustainable and if I’m honest just tiring.

As I’ve said I will just carry on supporting the club, manager and players. What will be will be.

Enjoyed the read I don’t think Kai and mount have had a health season I’d get what money we get in the summer for them.

21.) 02 Mar 2023
02 Mar 2023 13:19:05
The owners approach to the transfer market is certainly questionable and lacks any real team building philosophy other than to buy high profile young players.
No experienced manager would countenance such an approach which is one reason we have the current one.
A sensible transfer policy and a good manager has transformed a talented but under performing Utd squad into winners already.
And the key signing is 30yo .
So in summary the new owners have created a perfect storm by employing an inexperienced manager and buying too many young unproven players.

22.) 02 Mar 2023
02 Mar 2023 13:37:42
Drog, not everything that could be wrong at any club is down to the manager and to a certain extent the owners.
You can’t just pull up FACTS as if that is the entire argument and you just can ask people who have a different opinion to you “to move on”. Obviously I could just as easily say GP is our manager get on with it “move on” and that wouldn’t be reasonable either.

The opinion/ post of Oscar also had FACTS

It’s also a FACT that other managers have been given time to succeed.

I respect your passion and your opinion but let’s try and except other people will have different opinions and they just might be right.

K drog u keep going on about man u and eth if you like them that much go over to them. Otherwise just support the crest. And wish your team well. All "OUR" moaning on here doesn't change a thing.
