Ed lots of reports that we enquired about lemar and considering taking him in loan, any truth or interest thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Thomas Lemar (AM/LW) is being offered around either for sale or for a six month loan with an obligation to buy. Arsenal are likely unimpressed with the €60M asking price or loan deal of €5M with the obligation to buy in the summer which will put them off - they may look to asking for a loan with an option to buy but Atletico want him off the books. Has also been offered to Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs. England is attractive because of the high fees. Those hawking him around will next look to Germany before thinking about Italy. Ideally, Atletico want their money back.}

Obviously I know next to nothing about what happens behind the scenes in professional football and about the economy involved in transfers etc., but isn't it really optimistic from Atletico to want the money that they spent on him back, considering that he hasn't really proved anything positive since making his move to Atletico and given the fact that, although the money in transfers seems to have risen dramatically in the last few years, they still paid a lot of money when they bought him?
At least, if I were representing a club interested in him, I think it would be much more reasonable to instead make it an option to buy him instead of an obligation. But perhaps that's just me :) But obviously it makes sense if you're Atletico and want to sell him :)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They accept they won't get it all back. But English sides pay a premium - somethimes a significant premium.}

Can I ask why English sides pay a premium ed? Is it to do with just having more money as the premier league is the most watched league in the world so clubs benefit from what rewards come with that?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is because the Premier League have disproportionately more money than all but a few sides and some EPK sides are arrogant, or in one particular case, disrespectful when doing business with certain clubs.}

Yeah that makes sense ed cheers. Frustrating to hear but not surprising when you see examples like Man U spending £80m on Maguire, wonder what they’d pay for a genuinely world class player.

The sooner we sell christiansen the sooner we can buy him back for more when he's good like we do with all our other signings. Get on it frank.

With Pedro's sale been ruled out by Lampard it seems as if we may be doing very little business this window. Feel like a backup ST may be the only purchase we make and i don't have a clue who that may be. Felt the CB position would be another area we were going to improve by going for Ake but it doesn't seem as if any of the CB's are moving on until at least the summer.

So you'd think that'll rule him out. All i can say is if this were to happen i wouldn't be too happy but it was clear our top targets weren't going to be available in January and i'd rather wait and get them in the summer than waste money on our 3rd or 4th options.

My worry though is that we need CL football to get them, and with United seemingly getting Bruno Fernandes and our need for a creative mid i fear we'll miss out on top 4 which would be costly to our business in the summer. Of course i've learnt not to take what players and managers say about transfers too seriously so we may do more than i think.
