Past his best but still a classy deep lying playmaker. Key player for Madrid under Mourinho so could likely be a option. Manchester United or a return to Liverpool are more likely if I was a betting man

Ed 018 why are Chelsea interested in Guarin. Is it due to other targets not being available in January or do they see him as starting potential. Just seems a stop gap then an episode of reduced game time next year. He seems to me to be exactly like Meireles, has an engine and has a good shot but wildly in consistent and will never be in our long term plans. He is 27 so in 2 years isn't going to have an increased resale value. Just don't understand our interest, when there are better players who would better suit our needs.

{Ed018's Note - I would have to agree with reasons you listed. It seems he is avalible for a decent price. He's a good player who will help out in a position we are lacking some depth if he does join. I would certainly like to Matic instead}

Good. Like Valencia. Always produce good players and get best out of them. Silva mata villa arbeloa etc plus someone to maybe rival barca and Madrid. If only for few years

I don't think we should panic buy in the transfer window. We can bring in Courtoise, Piazon, Lukaku, Van Arnoholt & Oriel, all who are having fantastic seasons away on loan. We can also promote a player like Ake. We have Van Ginkel & kalas to come back from long term injury & that's without the likes of Wallace & numerous other players with have on loan & are part owners in. The priority is the CF.
At last, someone who sees the bigger picture. Totally agree with a few additions . some players will leave and some positions we do need to buy. I would like to see Shaw at let back with Van Arnholt when Cole goes, Paizon to get into the squad when Lampard goes and a world class stiker / strikers to go with Lukaku. Ba to go next window, Eto at the end of season, Torres??

Couldn't agree more with both of you. For me van aanholt is looking seriously good in holland. Romeu played some seriously good football as of late aswell. Piazon is a no brainer also lukaku. If Jose actually trained these youngsters they would be up and coming, but with Chelsea always looking to sign the Torres and shevchenkos I'm afraid they won't get the time here. I wanna see Bertrand at left back instead of cole and dave at right back.
