Seasons predictions.
Top 4 .
Liverpool and man city look way ahead of everyone . Think Liverpool will win the league this year . Next two teams I haven't a clue. Arsenal Chelsea Spurs Man U anyone's guess. Man U look in Jose season 3 meltdown, Spurs may get 3rd, Arsenal and Chelsea hard to predict Will one team do well under a new manager and the other take longer to adjust . Very hard to predict this year,

Yeah Liverpool and City will definitely get top 4 and they'll be the two fighting for the title, although City are still miles ahead of everyone and i'd fully expect them to win it again. Think people are underestimating Arsenal, they've done some nice business and although they won't challenge for the title i'd expect them to get into the top 4 with their squad. United if they get Alderweireld and a RW which seems possible i think they'll be a strong side. Think people are overreacting to their preseason, missing players and still need to do bussiness but fully expect them to be alright. With us and Spurs, both teams haven't added quality into their teams and seemingly won't do much more business either. Personally once everybody's back and fit i think we have a better squad than Spurs and maybe United. I just think with a new manager and a new system they need to get used to i don't think we'll be consistant enough to get top 4, personally think we should take the Europa league very seriously since it could end up being our best chance to get back into the champions league.

we had the spine of our team out today
they basically other than kdb and goalie had a full team out

we have arguably the best goalie midfielder and attacker in world football to come back
we have a new manager and style to start from scratch
i was really looking forward to luiz coming back but he has lost a yard defo
rudiger and christensen would be my choice now
jorginio looks good but he is quite slow so him and fabregas is a definite no no
im really chuffed with today because we didn't have our best team out by a country mile new system and players and had 50 50 posession with argualbly best teams in europe compare that to last year when we hardly got out of our own half and couldn't string a pass
barkley hasn't played for over a year and came up against a very good city today and can only get better
jorginhio looks class in his first competitive match in england
we have kante hazard and tibo to come back and willian first game back so not at the races
i think alonso is to slow for a back four imo
but if we can keep our best players get fit and match city for pocession for first time in a long time il be happy
yes we weren't great today but i was entertained with the way we could play in future with our best players not sitting on our 18 yard line and praying for a break

such a great team on paper get them playing sarri my man and it will be entertaining and trophy laden

I respect all posters and there opinions, so I will only say we will only realise how good Courtois is when he is gone.

Every regular poster will recall my opposition to Sarri but I am first and foremost a true Chelsea fan so I really hope he gets the players on board with his methods.

The gaps today between the lines was alarming and made to look a lot worse by a lack of legs in midfield.

I’m pretty sure I will almost alone in thinking that Cahill still has a role in a back four. At least he knows how to defend.

I would prefer to see Emerson rather than Alonso at LB but nether fill me confidence.

My guess is Butland and a mobile midfielder will join our merry band this week.

Just as an aside, why did Kompany, Mendy and Walker manage to get over the rigours of a World Cup but players like Cahill, Michy, Hazard, Giroud, Kante didn’t? I guess it’s down to a club decision!

Not negative just honest. Everyone’s entitled to an opinion. Courtois is negative as soon as things go bad he wants to leave. He’s better off going it’s bad for squad morale. He’s a very good keeper no doubt but world class? Na not at all pal! Oblak, Neuer and De Gea are the only three world class keepers in my eyes. Courtois gets beat at the near post and through his legs all the time. Take the rose tilted glasses off and stop being biast.

Do you want to go back to 5 at back 4 in midfield and 1 upfront on our 18 yard line hoping for a counter attack look at our last 4 games against city and that was our best possession by a mile yes we didn't create much but we will BB when our best players come back.

OK trying to think of something positive to say, um, er - it could have been 10-0 to City?! They've spent their money well and looked a couple of leagues better than us.

We were all over the place at the back at times, but offered almost no threat at all up front. Sarri is going to have to think hard and fast about how to play with the squad he's got (and if Eden watched the game today he's probably on the phone to Real Madrid as I write this) .

But must try and end on bright note. Hudson-Oloi again showed promise, pace and skill. Jorginho will be hugely helped by Kante's presence. Barkley had a couple of good moments and Willian was there and trying. Sarri has only just arrived. We might ) please! ) add a bit of attacking quality before window closes. And we can only get better!?

i agree kante will definetly steady that midfield fabregas days looked bumbered now a sub role i would assume but yeah odoi is probably d only thing u can say positive.

There is no site without people expressing 'their' opinion which can lead to an exchange of opinion but there is no 'correct comment' just the ones we prefer to read. Ask ten people on here for their preferred line-up versus Huddersfield and you would probably get ten different answers.

Gonna be a long season. It's going to take Sarri at least 12 months to make it his team. Alonso and Fabregas are just too slow we knew that last season. Just goes to smow now we're average without Kante or Hazard.

Always going to be a tough match and we have done well to hold it at 1-0. Hudson-Odoi, a boy oozing confidence but our only penetration. We will not get anywhere playing Fabregas and Barkley alongside Jorghino, he needs Kante and another decent midfielder alongside him as clearly his main strength is playmaking not intense defending.

i agree obina we wasted money penny pinching with drinkwater barkley zapacosta pedro etc an blew huge money on an average player like morata and bakayoko. instead of buying 2 or 3 top class players we instead brought rubbish who we are now stuck with and nobody wants cause we over paid for every single 1 of them.

Off to the game today, might be a friendly but Wembley fixtures are always exciting and it would be nice for Sarri to win his first bit of silverware. I’m most excited about seeing Hudson-Odoi and even Barkley properly in the flesh, expecting big things this season!

dont expect much from barkley i watched him wednesday v arsenal in the aviva he was truly awfull especially trackimg back our midfield looked non existant at times . fabregas an barkley aren't good enough. im also excited for hudson hope he shines today he looks an amazing talent.

I’m trying to stay optimistic about Barkley, he’s still young enough to come through but this season will probably be make or break. With Jorginho and Kante he should get some freedom to go forward and do his best work.

{Ed001's Note - both have a point. Clement is a good coach but a hopeless manager who plays dreadful football. Bent is a lazy waste of talent, which is why he never achieved once he got his big move. I just think Clement should have not bothered to respond to be honest. When you are in the position he is in you should rise above this stuff.}

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, both sides have a lot of work to do. Especially that Derby defence, they need a lot of drilling together to figure out their positions. At times the centre backs were splitting but no one was dropping between them, so there was a huge gaping hole in the centre. Other times Keogh, who is absolutely bloody hopeless on the ball, was dropping into a sweeper role, when he simply isn't good enough on the ball to play it. Not sure if Davies, his partner is good enough to do that either, so he needs to look at stopping that and just playing an old fashioned back four or he will find those dangerous giveaways will cost them games time and time again.}

Agree totally. Thought Derby didn't use Mount and Wilson enough, Lawrence was too selfish at times and Nugent was totally isolated.

{Ed001's Note - Lampard has told Lawrence to play that way, but I agree, he was shooting too much. Wilson never got into the game at all, which seems a waste when you have a talent like that on the pitch to barely give him the ball. I think Lampard is lacking some experience on the bench. There is a lack of someone there who has been there and done it as a coach or manager. They are all just retired players.}

That's fair. I think Jody Morris is his most experienced backroom member and whilst he has been very successful, it's only at youth level so far.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate, you need someone with experience to guide you when you start out. That seems badly missing with Derby. It doesn't matter if Frank ignores their advice, he just needs someone there to give that view based on experience.}
