Hi Ed, apologies if this is a stupid question, but are there any players the club are actively looking to sell in this upcoming window?

AfroMoose

{Ed002's Note - Yes, quite a number of players will leave. I have explained who before.}

Reports in The Times today suggest that Chelsea might be sending Torres to Roma with Destro coming the other way, while I never really believe swap stories I would love this one to have some truth in it. Do an of the Ed's know anything?

Cheers.

Let's hope so.

2.) The best thing would be getting rid of Torres who has a gypsy curse precluding us from winning the title with him around. which he caught from Stevie G, obviously.

3.) 21 Aug 2014 10:29:15
I think realistically the only way Torres will leave is on loan!

Hi Ed, not sure if you can answer this one (or if anyone else might know) I was just wondering about a couple of our loan players, mainly I am interested in Lewis Baker and Bertrand Traore, and whether you knew what the plan was for either of these two once the season has ended?
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Decisions will be taken in the summer.}

1.) 28 Feb 2017 08:51:22
Lewis Baker is coming back to the club for next season. I'm told that we are looking to sign one midfielder, two forwards (so, I assume Costa is going) and maybe a defender but that depends on Christenson's "attitude problems" and how Aina progresses!

Really interesting info on the Manchester United board in reference to Bale, thought I would share it here as it is relevant for Chelsea as well.

{Ed001's Note - nothing new mate, just that both yourselves and Madrid are open to a deal. The main sticking point has actually been Madrid's president Florentino Perez, who loves Bale and is loath to part with him. He was the mover behind bringing him in, it was all about Perez. The fans wanted to keep Ozil instead and have never taken to Bale because he replaced Ozil. There is a great video I saw of the fans asking Bale to take a picture of them with James Rodriguez, which says it all. He is not liked and that is why Perez has been convinced to part with him.

So I do expect a deal to be done, as even Perez has accepted that he needs to be sold, even though he disagrees with the decision. I do know Bale got an approach from Spurs about returning, not sure if it was a realistic approach or just a bit of a jokey one. He has made it plain he doesn't really want to leave Madrid, and he would only be interested in a Champions League team.

I know Man City have tried to sign him in the past, but I think their FFP issues have ruled them out this summer. The only real credible competition I can see would be Chelsea. That might see the price around the same as Di Maria, rather than the monster amount they bought him for, as Madrid don't have much of a market to sell him to.}

Potentially the most exciting transfer of the summer and if he came to us we would have an attack to rival Barca, Bayern and Real.

1.) 10 May 2015 13:51:42
I don't think the club would pay that much for him. If he moves, he's United bound IMO. And immediately him and Depay would make their attack ridiculous.

2.) 10 May 2015 21:38:46
I don't want him, would cost too much and spends half the time on the injury table. Money better spent elsewhere.

3.) 11 May 2015 15:38:19
IMO the whole Griezman thing is a smoke for something else that is happening. Real Madrid is facing a ban from uefa to sign players until summer 2016.They are interested in several players from Chelsea and this is not a secret. Allegedly they've already approached Chelsea. What is going to happen we shall see relatively soon in next two months.

{Ed002's Note - What are you talking about - Griezmann does not play for Real Madrid.}

4.) 11 May 2015 15:57:40
Off course he doesn't. I've said Griezman rumours are smoke (Chelsea is not really interested in him, or at least he isn't primary target).
Bale is the real target and swap plus cash could bring him to the Stamford Bridge. You are aware that Bale declined move to MU two years ago.
Like Fabregas if he is back to England I believe that he would prefer to live in London.

Just a quick question, what would our squad look like if we replaced out going players with our youth team players/players on loan?

It looks like Mikel will leave, replace with Baker and RLC

Drogba/Remy might be leaving, replace with Bertrand Traore (has been played as a striker this year, and has played unbelievably well by most accounts) and possibly Bamford/Brown.

Luis looks to be leaving, replace with Ake/Jay Dasilva/Kalas.

And just in general Boga/Christensen both look to be supremely talented players, and I would love to see both get more senior football.

Because it looks like we will mostly be losing squad players I am hopeful that at least a couple of these players will be brought in rather than spending big on overseas players. I certainly think that RLC, Ake and Bertrand Traore should be a part of the squad rather than bringing in players from outside.

Who would you like to see brought in/ who of our younger players have really impressed you?

AfroMoose

1.) 02 May 2015 09:26:08
I want to see our youth blooded in as much as the next guy (maybe not as much as welshchels who would play our youth team as our first 11) *thats a joke sir love you* but let's be serious we want to be a dominate force in football that means having a top squad. Most of these players are 5 years away from getting a proper chance at the first 11 with a lot of loans and learning in between. Most won't make it but we will make us money. I would like to see 1 or 2 players getting some minutes and cup games each year to see if they can cut the mustard. This season has shown a need for more trusted squad players to keep us fresh and yes that means spending and selling players who the club don't feel will make it or who simply want to move on xxx

2.) 02 May 2015 10:15:22
Haha sorry BIGPHIL but I've never seen you on this site before. I just think once Terry leaves we won't have an academy player being blooded into the side. RLC and Solanke have been with the club since they were young. I don't want to see a team full of academy players but I do think the likes of RLC and Ake offer more than Ramires and Mikel. Boga's extremely talented but I think Brown would be a better 5th choice rotation option because he's more developed.

3.) 02 May 2015 11:20:04
Well said Big Phil, my sentiments exactly. We have a very small squad compared with our main rivals in England and Europe and need 3 or 4 top quality additions to push on next season. RLC and Zouma should see more game time and I would like to see Traore get his work permit and compete for a place. Bamford and Ake will benefit more from regular football on loan as opposed to a few minutes here and there. The younger players like Solanke, Boga, Musunda and Brown will probably stay at the club next season and train with the first team while playing predominantly with the development squads. More interesting will be what happens to Piazon, Baker and Kalas. I suspect the likes of McCreaken, Moses, Romeu and Kakuta will leave.

4.) 02 May 2015 12:05:07
I'd like to see Traore, RLC and Chalobah/Ake in the team playing quality minutes. Traore provides quality depth and competition for the wing positions and striker. RLC should play minutes next year, if Jose's words are anything to go by. And Chalobah has again proven at Reading that he's good enough to play for us. He could definitely replace Mikel or Ramires in the team. You only have to talk to Reading supporters to hear how well he's done there. Apparently he was very good against Arsenal as well, so that's against quality opposition.
That would be 3 young players in our squad, and I'd be extremely happy with it :-)

Just prior to the League Cup game tomorrow I thought I would come up with a team of young players who I think have a good chance to make it into the Chelsea first team (based on what I have seen). If I have left a position blank it is because I don't think any of the young players playing there are good enough, and if I have left an obvious player out it is probably deliberate. Would love some opinions on this, especially those who might have seen more youth games than me.
Any [] are young players already in the first team.

GK -
CB - Christensen
CB - [Zouma]
LB - Jay Dasilva
RB -
CM - RLC
CM - [Ake]
LW - Izzy
RW - Bertrand Traore
CAM - Boga
ST - Solanke

Again would love some opinions on our younger players, I think at the moment we have a lot who are looking very good.

AfroMoose

1.) Certainly all the players you mentioned are very very promising and have the talent necessary to make it at the top. However usually most young players don't quite live up to the hype. Hopefully some of these boys will make it. I'm especially excited about Loftus-Cheek, Boga and Traore. The few times I've seen them, they've looked quite special.

2.) I really hope baker makes it, as Wallace (at vitesse, but should still count) and solanke and brown, and ake, and loftu. EVERYONE!

We have the best youth in the country, and if we weren't busy competing for every trophy, these boys would get through.

3.) I'd put in Lewis baker, charly musonda and Paizon

4.) My head hurts there are so many. A shame not all of them would make it. Be really surprised if Traore, Boga and RLC don't. Think Ale and obviously Zouma have made. Piazon, Christensen are the very good ones o can see just falling short. Hope they all get a fair chance.

5.) I think Piazon will fall short unfortunately, he has been playing OK (by all accounts) for Frankfurt, but nothing amazing, and I am not sure what he adds to our team at the moment.
Lewis Baker is probably the player I most want to see make it, but as with Piazon I have not seen anything from Baker which suggests he can put pressure on the current first team, unlike Boga who looks better and better each time I see him play, and only 17!

6.) Surely add in Thorgan Hazard? Eden thinks his little brother is better than him (?!) and he is playing for Bundesliga.

7.) Again T.Hazard is one I would love to see, but he is now 21 and not starting many games, he is playing but normally 20mins or so from the bench. At 21 I would want him to be in the CFC team next year, and I don't think he is at that level.

8.) Put kalas in RB

28 Jul 2014 21:41:12
Looks like Griezmann is off to Madrid, I personally cannot wait until that is finally confirmed, I am getting bored of those insisting he is coming to Chelsea.

On another note I am really pleased with our transfer business (incommings) we have addressed all of the major weaknesses without spending over the odds, and we have got it all (or at least most) of it done in time for the newbies to have a nice long preseason at CFC which I think makes a huge difference.

AfroMoose

1.) It has been confirmed

My guess would be it is relating to either Traore (weather he gets a WP or not) or possibly Remy, if he leaves Cuadrado surely has to stay. Those would be my guesses.

Can I ask which strikers we are looking at? From what I remember Dybala and Icardi were two targets but it seems neither are now an option. cheers.

I have just watched the CFC goal of the season candidates and they reminded me just how good Oscar can be on his day.

Ake can play in the middle as well, and Lewis Baker could add some cover. We have options.

IMO if he is using Zouma rather than Mikel it should be time for Mikel to move on.

I wonder how many of the managers have kept him because there are no teams interested in buying him/he rejects contract offers from the teams who do want him. Unless I am very much mistaken Mikel has been available for the last two summer transfer windows, not a great sign that he is wanted at the club.

My main issue with him is he has a record of making at least one big mistake in crucial moments, that and he is standing in the way of our younger players coming through.

I might be wrong but were those restrictions always going to be lifted then? As I understood it the punishment lasted a year, could be wrong though.

Seems to be a strategy we have atm, first Et'o then Drogs and now Falcao, players brought in with no transfer fee who can add experience, winning mentality and hopefully goals. Wages might be on the high end but without a commitment past the first year it is certainly a risk worth taking.
If we can't get the old Falcao back then it is no huge loss, but if we can then we have two of the best goal scorers in world football on our books.
