Need to state this now before the season begins. My understanding is that the club is not going in the right direction. The Americans are notorious for sacrificing the major interest of the club for their personal financial gains. Imo don't expect anything success from Chelsea in the next few years as we are no longer the same club. not being negative but reality on ground. Clubs will start to select the best talents from Chelsea as the players will soon realise that we are not the club roman left for us. Maresca will not be any upgrade as soon we will be asking for his sack after series of bad run. We are getting a below average gk to disrupt petrovic who only needs time just because the coach prefers a ball playing gk.
Obsession about young players is not ambitious because they will be gone soon. Roman set a standard but these guys want to destroy all to leverage on it for personal gains to detriment of the club success. Young players don't win you titles just for profits. Soon I will find another passion away from Chelsea as the club has been hijacked by moles set to be destroyed.

Getting boring all this bashing
Yes Roman was a one of a kind owner who created a unbelievable squad and system
But he’s gone - it will never be the same
Just trust in the club, the players, the management, the owners
Let’s see where the journey takes us.
{Ed002's Note - He is simply trolling the site - ignore him.}

I think it's really unfair to say they're in it onlu for financial gain, especially after the investments they've made.
I think many criticisms can be made, and I think it's been a disastrous 'strategy' so far, but to say they're in it for the investment is very silly.

Dazza, you are correct about Roman but towards the end of his ownership it looked more and more as if we were being run as a business and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
The reference made to “Americans” is just more nationalistic crap from a poster with an obvious agenda.!

The owners have made mistakes but they are in it for the long term. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I believe that they want the club to become successful again.

Standard, I hope they are in it for the investment and potential profit as well as other reasons.
I think, given time and hopefully performance success at every level within the club, the current owners will have purchased a club at a very good price. I have a feeling they want to build a sporting franchise that will be seen as one of the best in its class.

The owners c learly want the club to succeed on the field as well as off it (in financial terms) cos the two are intimately linked. But appointing Maresca is a huge gamble given his relative lack of managerial/ head coach authority - pretty slight cv as player and manager - and big danger that he may not gain and retain players confidence in things go poorly for any length of time.
Clearly these are every early days, but last pre-season under Poch saw a CFC side with large number of young players and new to newish recruits gel quickly. Then the worst injury list in EPL followed but I never though the players had lost confidence in Poch even if some fans did. Great finish to season set up possib ility of building on this with few incomings needed - we all knew what those were - and most outcoming among those who were on loan or not getting much game time perhaps.
So I still don't understand why we seemingly shot ourselves in the foot and parted ways with Poch at the end of last season. The players clearly liked and trusted him and so by then did most of the fans. Bottom line seemed to be to give him at least one more season to get us Top 4 place and likelihood of top players wanting to come to us if Champions League football. But seems as if the Sporting Directors had a different - Man City style - vision so they go for someone who was an assistant to Pep and had guided a Champions League bookies favourites to be promoted to promotion. The idea being that it's not really a top manager - who can get players to believe in him, improve them, make them give 110% for him (or her, tghink Emma Hayes) etc as well as a good technical coach - that is needed any more but just a manager/ coach that can put a system into operation.
We have to keep hoping that parting with Poch and picking Maresca was brilliant insight on prt of Sporting Directors and club as a whole - though I suspect some will have had their doubts, Boehly as we speak tempted perhaps to have a other meal with Poch?! - and Maresca must be given a chance to prove this. After all it is also trues that Cole, Enzo F and Moises plys Conor and TC aren't yet with the squad (and hope to goodness TC will not be sold given defensive shambles on display thius far) . I will be at the Inter Milan pre-season game and hoping with all my heart that we will show more cohesion by then and see a performance that gives players belief and fans hope for the dseason ahead.
Yet right now I am possibly more worried about a season ahead than I have been for not quite sure how long. Yet am tellimng myself that we have some superbly talented players (and Guiu does look like a v promising addition), we finished 6th last season, and we should surely be able to compete successfully for Top 4 this season. Will be repeating that to myself like a mantra the whole of today! But the players need to believe this too and only winning games will guarantee this so they that needs to happen soon.

JBS, I enjoyed your post and I share some of your concerns.
I’ve already said I think we will finish between 3rd-5th. Other teams are not going to stand still and wait for us to catch up.

Everything is academic until we have appointed an experienced manager capable of organising and galvanising the young squad we have.
That was achieved under Poch despite the worst injury crisis in the clubs history.
We now have a novice who is determined to play in one way irrespective of the players we have.
Make no mistake this is the worse managerial appointment the club has made since AVB who at least was successful before he joined.
Once the players realise how inflexible and clueless he is the party will be over.
But it's quite another thing how long it will take the Sporting Directors to admit they got it wrong AGAIN.

I’m not happy with our two pre-season performances and I have no idea how this management appointment will work out.
I will be at the opening game of the season full of nervous anticipation. It’s been the same now for 62 years. What a roller coaster journey supporting Chelsea FC is but it’s such fun.

28 Jul 2024 12:53:39
Way to early to tell how the new manager will do personally think we shouldn't of sacked Potter and should of made Poch feel loved, but I am very optimistic for a top 4 place, Palmer has to say fit but the talent is there.

28 Jul 2024 13:01:19
I agree that rome wasn't built in a day. But they took on a club that was champions league winners and 3rd. To go from that to whatever we are now has been painfully poor with the same mistakes made one after the other. Very, very preventable.
13.) 28 Jul 2024
28 Jul 2024 13:43:05
All mistakes are preventable and virtually every ownership model has made mistakes and will continue to make mistakes.
For lots of reasons the Champions League team/ squad was going to change. Things might have been different had Roman not had to sell but in my opinion players like Werner, Ziyech, Mendy and the Lukaku were all mistakes.

28 Jul 2024 16:46:23
I appreciate all views because the first was mine. I really never liked how roman was ousted because he's the Chelsea engine. The club had it's best times under roman and he's should be the standard. The new owners don't seem ambitious enough for me and trying to be clever to reap off all gains made by roman.
I mentioned Americans because there's a pattern in other clubs like man u, Liverpool before klop, etc. maybe I'm now spoilt by roman era but I don't want it to stop. Chelsea have been a perennial contenders all season and don't want to change that. these guys don't seem to know that.
15.) 28 Jul 2024
28 Jul 2024 17:08:12
I certainly wouldn’t want Poch back. The reasons we improved at the latter part of last season was because that players started to gel naturally, we had an easy run in and, of course, Cole Palmer. I have no idea about the new coach as usual time will tell. I am nervous about the new season particularly as I don’t believe any of our signings will improve the team this season. We conceded 64 goals last season; that must improve significantly. As per Tom, I will be at the Bridge for the first game, with hope in my heart.
16.) 28 Jul 2024
28 Jul 2024 18:15:54
Why is it trolling? Remove the newest appointment, the 5th manager under Clearlake, spent a fortune, likely few hundred million over the billion mark, big turnover in staff, medical staff, long-standing members of the academy set up, commercial staff changed a few times, 42 players current squad, forty-two, chalobah been left behind to force out, instead we took disasi who’s recently had surgery and not been included in the squad yet, linked and buying more kids from South America which reportedly causing problems with the players at the academy, if they’ll even get a chance, second kit released with no shirt sponsor on front, linked only to players under a certain age, strikers who’ve got less than 10 career goals rather than proven players because of their age, finished season well and things looked better then change of manager, we targeted champions league minimum and missed out twice.
So for everything that’s good, it’s all potential and hopeful, all the negative is what’s happened and happening, having an opinion that isn’t positive isn’t trolling it’s a different perspective. Too sensitive on here,

Jesus, there have been bad Russian owners, there have been bad Malaysian owners bad British owners. Will you please stop making references to the nationalities of players, managers, owners, and the press. As far as I’m concerned the country of origin of anyone is totally irrelevant.
18.) 28 Jul 2024
28 Jul 2024 19:52:35
Matt and obviously having a positive perspective is fine otherwise your argument does not work.
19.) 28 Jul 2024
28 Jul 2024 21:35:41
Tom, Matt is obviously passionate about our club; good for him. I must admit I can’t remember being more nervous at the start of a season: hopefully the feeling in my water is age related.
20.) 29 Jul 2024
29 Jul 2024 00:08:06
Yes tom mistakes happen and I think it important to point it out. Unfortunately, I don't think the people higher at the club have pointed it out because it's getting worse and worse. Without Gallagher and chalobah this will be a worse side than last year and I cannot see us finishing top 6 again.
This claim that I'm 'negative' because I'm pointing out tge flaws in the new regime is hilarious. I've been very positive on here for years, especially during the first lampard era. I'm calling this out for dross because it is. We have a worse squad after spending 1 billion pounds. How is that even possible?
21.) 29 Jul 2024
29 Jul 2024 06:03:21
Jimbo, I will continue to praise Matt’s passion even when others have been scathing in there criticism of his posts.
Standard, I couldn’t give a monkeys t@as if you are negative or positive and that applies to any other poster. It’s also not “hilarious” if a poster has a different view positive or negative towards any part of the club.
Your above posts states that things are getting worse and worse but that clearly isn’t the case. Just look at the last two seasons premiership positions.
I want Gallagher and Chalaboa to stay but CG hasn’t signed a contract even though and contrary to one poster who thought any offer was a new owner PR stunt has apparently been offered a very fair new one. Chalaboa it’s about opinions. I think he is better than Disasi but it would appear that the SDs/ coaches don’t.
I am bored with giving my opinion on the so called previous squad that included the players I mentioned above.
While I actually think this is a squad that is stronger than the one inherited by the new owners I except j may well be alone with that view.
RA spent money on players that didn’t improve the squad and so have many other ownerships spent money on players only to find themselves/ club in dire positions. There are no guarantees.
22.) 29 Jul 2024
29 Jul 2024 08:26:09
The owners will make their money or investment work by the team winning and being successful, there’s not a chance in hell there not in this to win, that’s how the business becomes successful, that doesn’t mean they’ve been any good so far either, not got a lot right have they let’s be honest.
23.) 29 Jul 2024
29 Jul 2024 09:00:55
The frustration comes from worry. We’ve gone backwards for two years, have an inexperienced manager and still a young team with a whole new style, risk doesn’t come close.
24.) 29 Jul 2024
29 Jul 2024 09:42:17
Matt, I’m sure they wish they hadn’t taken some poor advice when they fist took over and the spine of any team should be the first area that needed addressing in my opinion but I honestly think we generally have a strong squad.
Just a small note, we haven’t gone backwards for two years. Last year was an improvement in the previous year.
The manager was my third choice to replace Poch who I didn’t want sacked but from the training clips I’ve seen his drills look good.

Standard, this may come as a shock but coaching methods and drills are important. One of the ideas is to improve our young players, something some managers may not be that bothered about.
I love watching teams pre-match drills as well. It’s one the reasons I love “going” to games and also why I get to my seat very early on match days.
