Ed002 can you see Mata leaving for United by the end of the window? Absolutely devastated by all this news floating around.

dainefrancis

{Ed002's Note - I can't answer questions about timing.}

1.) I know you don't want to/can't give too much away Ed, but if I were to place a £10 bet, should I put it on him going to Utd this window?

2.) 22 Jan 2014 14:40:32
ED I know it's getting done to death but is there a chance mata could go to man united thanks

{Ed002's Note - If they make a suitable offer to the club and the player, and teh player wants to leave, then the club will not stand in his way.}

3.) What about ones about destination then - have Utd made a bid

{Ed002's Note - They have submitted an offer this afternon.}

4.) Thanks, do you know if the player has expressed a desire to leave?

{Ed002's Note - His father has.}

5.) His father's his agent though isn't he, so it's fair to assume that's the players desire.

6.) Anything about a player swap involving Rooney?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

7.) Is the offer likely to be accepted ed002?

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in discussing finances.}

8.) Why are you devastated? mata is too slow for our style of play and 37 mil is a good profit.

Ed02:

Is there any truth behind the Demba Ba bids from West Ham and Newcastle United?

Also is Mata happy to stay at Chelsea or is it just a case of no realistic offers have come in for him yet?

Finally I know it's more summer news than current but I was wondering if you have any info on whether we're going to hold on to Courtois or let him go with all the interest from other clubs?

dainefrancis

{Ed002's Note - (1) I am not aware of a bid from WHU or NU but there is certainly interest from WHU and Valencia. (2) He has not said that he wishes to leave. (3) There is no plan for Courtois to be sold.}

1.) Nice one cheers!

If we do offload Ba in the January window I assume that increases the likelihood of signing a new striker or will we struggle with Eto'o and Torres to save rushing into a buy?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are looking to bring a forward in and have plenty of options regardless.}

2.) 06 Jan 2014 18:23:40
I've just read that Barca are going for Ter Stergen so I don't see them going for Courtois as well :)

3.) I was more worried about Atletico Madrid taking him because he's obviously established himself there, he's enjoying his time there, Atletico are flying at the moment and we'll still have Cech come the end of the season and I highly doubt either will settle for playing second fiddle.

Hey Eds are you aware of any positive activity regarding players potentially joining Chelsea? Need some good news to lighten the mood after all this speculation surrounding Juan Mata.

dainefrancis

{Ed018's Note - Salah}

Can't see Mata going anywhere now as we'd only have Schurrle as cover for Oscar, Hazard and Willian. If we got struck with injuries we'd be in a bad way.

It is a sad situation though, I'd like to see him go out of respect for the player. He would demand first team football at almost any club in the World, it's just a shame he doesn't fit Jose's style.

Loan wouldn't work either because he'd probably train and be played in the role that again doesn't suit Jose so he'd come back and be back to square 1.

As far as swapping for Rooney goes that'd be absolutely mental for the same reasons stated by CLL. Contract, age and ability wise Mata is worth almost double Rooney. Plus I can't see Rooney wanting to stay at United come the end of the season or Mata wanting to move to them. A fair swap may have been De Bruyne for Rooney when everything is taken into consideration.
