Luiz is Luiz, still can't quite believe it. perhaps a little embarassing on the boards part, anyway a defenders a defender and we need one! The real question here is with all these midfielders we are linked with, why aren't we raiding PSG for Matuidi after his move to Juve fell apart instead/ as well. Cracking player for the rumoured £30 fee!

C'mon guys enough with the arguing and negativity. Everyone has the right to an opinion, just try and be respectful in how you deliver it. Let's try and keep this site productive!

Anyways how's everyone's tips looking so far? Mine are absolutely shot to pieces already haha!

Very interested to watch the two games today and of course Chelsea on Monday night.

Tips for the game? I'm thinking 3-1 Chelsea with a double to Hazard?

Aussie tout see arguing, I see banter, just the way it should be.

As for the game tomorrow 2-1 well just manage to come away with three points. Still think we need a couple of players in before the window shuts. Hoping for a good game.

2.) 15 Aug 2016 07:14:36
I like reading different opinions between posters but there is no need for name calling! At the end of the day we're all on the same team supporting the club we love! I reckon we'll win 2-1 as well. Think we'll have too much for WH but they have some very good players and our defence is very shaky at the moment. A Chelsea win and both teams to score will also win me a very handy £6000 so wish me luck lads.

Was just thinking with all these crazy prices being thrown around at the moment cough*Pogba/ Stones*cough.

I reckon we've done pretty well with the prices we've paid for our first team players over the last few years £32 million for Hazard, Costa and Kante and around that for Fab, £12 million for Zouma, £9 million for Courtois, £7 million for Dave etc.

Credit where credits due, there have been some duds in there but overall Emenalo and co have done pretty well.

I'm confident they'll bring in the right personnel between now and the end of the window and I feel importantly at the right price. Thoughts?

Yeah it's just a shame all the money we've wasted on players who we bought that were never going to make the first team like Miazga, Pato etc. The back up roles could easily have been filled better by our young talent.

2.) 10 Aug 2016 16:07:25
we've also bought garbage players that transfer fee's combined spent in their positions would buy pure class.

3.) 10 Aug 2016 16:44:43
Left back purchases, Willian, pedro, remy.

4.) 10 Aug 2016 17:20:14
Sorry, am I reading that right? Willian a waste of money? Do you know anything about football Spearce96? Absolutely laughable!

5.) 10 Aug 2016 19:53:29
Willian is totally average the man is meant to be an attacking midfielder but never in his life has he good decent assist and goal numbers. He always stops and slows down our play so yes I do no something about Football. Maybe you should take your rose tinted glasses off and look at reality.

6.) 10 Aug 2016 20:29:00
I wouldn't say pedro or willian was a waste of money. There both quality players when used in correct formations. The club needs to buy players to suit the managers way of playing instead of who the owner likes the look of.

7.) 10 Aug 2016 23:20:17
Its not my money. If we signed pogba for a hundred mill i would be happy and so would you. But we need major investment. Play hazard in his natural number 10. I don't care what you say this is his best position. I would bid whatever for sanchez. Arsenal are a selling club and i wouldve gone for williams who is now at everton. We need a cb. Rb. Lb. Lw. And a striker.

8.) 12 Aug 2016 01:10:29
But to be fair the prices back then were a lot different, I don't know why but recently everyone is worth so much more for no reason at all.

9.) 12 Aug 2016 01:12:27
I'd say Chelsea make good deals, the only bad deals I can think of within the last few years were baba and Torres, although I love Torres £50 mil for him wasn't good negotiating and baba for £17 mil or whatever it was! Really? Although I am glad we got baba, He's one for the future, no one rates him but I think that's just because how much we spent on him, if we had got him for around £7m I don't think he would get as much hate.

Silly season is in full swing at the moment! Koulibaly bid rejected by all reports, even after by all accounts we've met their valuation. What can you expect when dealing with ADL, I think he enjoys putting us through pain and they've lost Higuain. Still confident it will go through, it's more a matter of whether Napoli get Makisimovic. We are still linked with Lukaku, I'm with others on this if I had to chose I would go for Mahrez over him then move on Cuadrado and Pedro. I will believe it when I see it though. Also have seen we are still monitoring Icardi and Gabigol who I think would both be better fits than Lukaku. Then there is are Thiago Maia rumours which a bit out of left field, interested to see what happens there. In an ideal world I would like to see one of Koulibaly/ Manolas, Mahrez/ Gabigol (still think it will be Lukaku) and possibly another full back like Lichsteiner but it doesn't look like we are linked with any. Throw in Maia for depth and we would be looking pretty good for the season ahead. Who does everyone think will come in before the end of the transfer window? Can't wait for the West Ham game!

Seriously though how good does Kantelele look?!

A midfield 3 consisting of;

Chalobah/ oscar. Kantelele/ matic
Fabregas/ Oscar

Through in Mikel and RLC for extra cover and we are looking pretty good, Kante counts as 3 mids by himself!

Aussie Blue

{Ed018's Note - we would be better off going with a 3 man center midfield as opposed to a 2 man.}

1.) 04 Aug 2016 12:24:34
Definitely, depending on the opposition i'd fab, kante, matic/ oscar would be my favoured option.

2.) 04 Aug 2016 12:49:39
Chalobah, Kante and Fabregas. I think it's easy to decide that.

3.) 04 Aug 2016 14:51:02
Also think RLC needs a two year loan maybe in the bundesliga to start playing regularly it seems to have worked wonders for Chalobah.

4.) 04 Aug 2016 16:26:44
Chalobah barely got a game at Napoli.

5.) 04 Aug 2016 16:47:40
Harry Kane hardly got to game when he was out on about five different loans but he does pretty well when Tottenham gave him his chance.

6.) 04 Aug 2016 18:02:40
Challobah grew up and had learnt a better attitude.

I saw a good thought about how Conte could get his 3 at the back without leaving us completely exposed. essentially a 5-2-2-1. That looks like this;
---Courtois---
Cahill/ Zouma---Terry---Luiz/ Iva
(WB) Dave/ Aina--------------------------------------Alonso/ (WB)
Matic/ Oscar/ Fab-------Kante/ Chalobah/ Mikel
Willian/ Pedro------------------------Hazard/ Moses/ RLC
Costa/ Batman/ Solanke.

The scary thing is imagine if we didn't offer terry a new contract and still struggled to sign anyone we'd be having Mikel as our CB!

Hmmm that's a tough one, I genuinely think it's a bit of a flip of coin at the moment. Man U probably have the strongest squad on paper at the moment and Mourinho is a serial winner. I think it'll take Man City some time to buy into Pep's philosophy, but they'll be right there at the business end as again Pep is also a serious winner. I just don't think Arsenal have the metal to do it and as a good of a manager as Wenger is he doesn't have that winning mentality that Pep, Mourinho and to a lesser extent Conte and Klopp have. I do think they'll get top 4 though and could be a wildcard if Wenger bites the bullet and makes some signings. I feel Spurs and Liverpool will be just outside the 4, Spurs with the strain on their squad won't handle the rigours of European football and I think Liverpools squad is a little thin especially if they are hit with their usual injuries. Then I think it will be Leicester and West Ham for the Europa league places. In regards to Chelsea I still feel we are a good CB and possibly a striker away from being title contenders, but if we can get these in I will chuck a cheeky 50 on them as we don't have European football and a decent squad with a top manager.
My top 8 looks like this;
1. Man United
2. Man City
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal
5. Liverpool
6. Spurs
7. Leicester
8. West Ham.
Genuinely can't wait for the season to start!

C'mon fella's hows about a little bit of optimism, Conte is a top manager (just look at what he did with Juve and Italy) . We have some world class players which ever way you cut it and irrespective of last season they won the title the season before, so they know what it takes to do it. Costa looks like he's staying, with Lukaku possibly coming in and Batshuayi that is a world class strike force which ever way you look at it. We will get in a new CB and possibly another RB/ LB, throw in the youth players that Conte looks to finally be giving a chance and we are looking pretty good if you ask me!

Hey Fellas, long time reader (over 3 years) first time poster. Awesome site by the way, love the banter and general chit chat. My 2 cents I'm neither here nor there with the Lukaku transfer, he plays well in an Everton team that he is afforded a lot of space to run into. I don't see that been the case when he plays for us, but he is young so there's plenty of time to develop and that's where the fee comes from. I really hope Costa stays as he is the closest to world class striker we will have even with Lukaku. Lastly with the Griezman and Morata links, I have a feeling it's more of a case of them not wanting to move which therefore makes the money we offer irrelevant. Exciting transfer window nonetheless and can't wait for the season ahead!
