I agree Kovacic will do really good in that Jorginho role maybe even better Jorginho mainly cos of his ball winning ability and box to box runs (both things) which Jorginho obviously sucks at. It looks like Chelsea might have found the Fabregas replacements in Kovacic- I think he really suits that deep lying playmaker role; while Barkley and Loftus Cheek slog it out on the left side of midfield.

I have to laugh.

People in here picking apart a 3 nil win with a team that started with 8 changes from. Thursday, a midfield 3 that never played together and a striker getting used to a new team. All while playing against a team we knew would sit on their own 18 yard line.

Does every single aspect of a one off game have to be analyzed or can we not just enjoy a clean sheet win with out second string and youth getting minutes in the legs?

I was at the game and I have to say I’m happy with the win, the last 10 minutes we looked like scoring a handful however we were poor and boring. The fans around me agreed we never looke to go forward only sideways or backwards. I love Ampadu and think he’s a great talent but I was happy when he came off tbh because he was slowing down every attack and passing backwards constantly. I know it’s possession but against Sheffield Wednesday we should look to score more goals and play better quicker football.

It was rather abject, no doubt we will see improvements otherwise i would be worried. I expect the build up play to be a lot faster but of course we had no Jorginho, Kante, Hazard and Luiz so its not a concern. Job done anyway.
