Looks like Chelsea haven't sold their allocation for the charity shield (mancs have). I will be going but it's very poor that we can't sell out for a traditional curtain raiser...

Believable2 Unbelievable6

In the past I would have gone but quite simply I cant afford to go to this, Monaco and possibly Japan.
Its about which is the priority and pre season early match in Birmingham really isnt up there this season if however it had been at Wembley I woul have gone

Agree5 Disagree1

They r still getting use to these sort of games. I've got a video of us beating them 2-0 I'm the simod cup in 1987 with only 4000 people at Maine road. Never hear about those attendances in the press.
Jimbo

Agree1 Disagree0

After paying just shy of £1000 for a season ticket a good majority or the bridge regulars its not top of prioritys ,its a glorified pre season tbh

this is what i think will happen by the end of the transfer window

ins
azpilicueta (monday)
moses (some time in the next two weeks)
cavani (probably will drag on for some time before the clubs agree an acceptable package deal)

outs
malouda (santos, if they can offload ganso, if not he will most likely see out his contract with us)
mereiles (napoli, possibly included in the deal for cavani)
lukaku (wigan)

trueblue012

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Why would Lukaku go to Wigan? They've got Franco Di Santo, Conor Sammon and Mauro Boselli has just returned.

Agree3 Disagree6

Because they just set the world alight last season

trueblue012

Haha, not exactly top draw stikers there. Wouldn't mind seeing McEachran go there as well. Martinez gets the best out of young players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd prefer to see mceachran go to bolton, owen coyle seems to work wonders with english players i.e cahil, wilshere, sturridge

trueblue012

Agree3 Disagree1

I cant see maceachran ever being one of chelseas best, hes another scott parker who needs to play every game and if he did he would be great, watch when we eventually let him go he will be a great player like parker was. im afraid foreigners is the future at the bridge

I'd like to see us get a good squad player in kaka, I k ow his last jos best but in prem I think he has a lot to offer and he is free to leave at a price, and I don't see that price being to much, be gd cover as lots games this year

Believable0 Unbelievable7

I think he's too old and prone to injury to bring in, even as cover. Say his fee was low, wages would still be high - the club just makes a loss either way. Not worth it in my opinion.

If terry and lampard were to retire tomorrow , who would be a bigger legend

A ) Terry

B ) Lamapard

C ) Drogba

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Terry, lampard, drogba.....
for cfc all 3 r legends!!

samrat

Agree1 Disagree1

For me Lampard. I believe he is just because of the problems Terry has has in the past with the media, but he is still a legend. But Frank Lampard just because he is in touching distance of Bobby's record and just for being a real true professional.

PR!

Agree6 Disagree2

I would have to say drogba, lampard and terry in that order. For the simple reason that didier has scored some vital goals in huge games. Lampard a close second as his goal tally for a midfielder is amazing. Tery great leader but off the field antics have affected him in the last 12 months. All three though are huge chelsea legends and make my all time chelseaXI

They're all legends in their own right and the fact that you think they could be ordered suggests you haven't been a fan for while

Has to be Drogba, always performed in the big games, not to mention what he does for his country in terms of charity work, building hospitals, and donating money... fantastic guy and a monster on the pitch.

Agree2 Disagree1

I'd say terry. Absolutely selfless and the club always came first for him. I think the thing that makes my mind up is terry said if Chelsea don't want him he will retire. Drogba moved to china and lamps is considering other places. John terry truley has blue blood.

Just wondering what everyone thinks about the fact that our midfield two this season will be based on
- Mikel (finished the season brilliantly and I rate him a bit after years of not)
- Lampard (played well in the games we didnt have the ball and could jockey and defend while picking a rare, but often brilliant, pass)
- Essien (who knows)
- Meireles (looks like he is Napoli bound and I wish him well if he is but if not he is a good squad player for defensive games)
- Romeu (decent but slow)
and
- McEachran (potential and probably off on loan)
Is it just me or do we still lack a deep lying playmaker to play alongside a destroyer/defensive thinking type?
Lampard, Meireles and McEachran would be our attacking thinking cental players...

So if McEachran does go on loan and Meireles to Napoli (and the uncertainty of Essien after injury) do we still need a Modric or Moutinho?

P.S. I know this seems crazy given the midfielders we have bought but only Oscar could really play in one of the deeper roles and it may not suit as he is adapted to a new league...

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I think mata could play in one of the deeper positions, he reads the game exceptionally well, also i think you're forgetting about ramires

trueblue012

Agree1 Disagree6

Personally I think we should take interest in Sahin, he has great potential

JMJW

Agree3 Disagree0

The only deep lying midfielder I'd like us to bring in is Sahin. He could offer us same thing different that we've never had like a pirlo/x alonso esc player. We could loan him with the option to buy If he impresses. For all u McEachran fanboys, he ain't ready yet to have the pressures of being Chelsea's cm. he couldn't even make it Swansea xi!

Every day transfer news/rumors keeps changing.
Today we are linked with Andre Schurle. We had 16m bid rejected by Byren Leverkusen, and seems we are going back with new 20m bid.
He is good, young talented player. Would be very good addition to the team if the transfer deal happens.
He is versatile can play on wings-preferably on right wing, as an attacking midfielder behind striker and also capable of playing as striker. Which all he has done in past.
I do not wanna compare him to anyone but german international coach Joachim Low selected him twice ahead of Muller and Podoloski. Means surely the guy has potential.
I would like to see him in chelsea...
wat about u guys.....

I have to say, watching highlights from the last season, I can't find anyone who is more emphatic when they scored than FT9, you could always see that glint in his eye, that genuine appreciation for everything he had. I don't know anyone (Except Barca and QPR fans!) who would grudge Torres for his goals against the two clubs last year, he finally deserved some good luck. On Sunday or in the SuperCup, if we get a penalty in normal time or if it goes to penalties, i see Torres striding up and stroking it in perfectly.
Form is temporary, class is forever.
And to any Torres haters out there. He will always have one record. First every Chelsea player in the Barclays Premier League era to score a hat-trick against one of our local London rivals.

Looking on the spurs sight they all seem to believe hes available for 15 million as well, but surely after this performance at the olympics that will shoot up his price..

Even though we've made big money signings just can't see us finishing above City or the Gooners and possibly Utd. Our manager is not proven a season and not convinced our players will gel in the first season. Think we do well to get to QF of champions league also.

I think its gonna take a while for the lads to gel, but pinky think you pushed it way off the mark when you say " you can't see us finishing above the gooners". Its hard to see us finishing above city ,but I think we would qualify for the champions league with ease that is a 2nd or 3rd place finish. We have the players to rule europe but its gonna take time and also the right manager.

Please Eds can my curty come back onto this page? I know he can sometimes come across as a bit naughty but it is because he gets irritated by the majority of posters on this page who don't have the same vision and intelligence as himself.
Me and Arfur have tried to teach him to be more understanding of the many semi-literate posters on this site but it seems he sometimes forgets his manners.

Hi Ed,

Good work son...Love this site!!

Just wanted to give my opinion on the transfer window so far...in addition any insight from yourself.

I think we have good dealings so far in the window, slightly dissapointed we didn't push harder for Moura...that boy is mustard...the saving grace is that he didn't join United (Whoops..lol).

Targets:

Moses - Happy with this one..better than Kalou and saw him at the Bridge for Wigan and was very impressed.

Azpilicueta - Dont know much about him...in my opinion Ivanovic is good enough and Hutchinson can more than fill the void if and when needs be. So not overly fussed...I can see him sitting on the bench.

Hulk - I must admit I am a fan...and would like to see him on the right wing...the price is the only concern I have...30+ Million I think is a little too high!

Cavani - Like him...but dont see is happening...and we will continue to play the same footy if he comes - Drogba style...which wont give Torres a chance!

Players Out:

Malouda (Useless) Ferreira (Too Old) Yossi (Unfortunate) Essien (Cash in while we can) Turnbull (Rubbish) Hilario (Hilarious) Sturridge (Arrogant - decent money)

Wish List:
Alex Torres
Iker Munian
Dembele
Neymar
Dimao
Hamsik
Aguero
Goetze
Ronaldo - If there is any chance in Hell!!

Any thoughts welcome...

City have been quiet and hopefully it stays that way!

Cheers

Chelsea Blue Blood - "Runs through the Veins"

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Shouldn't sell all those experienced players they add experience to the squad.

Agree2 Disagree5

To the poster above, I'm pretty sure that Cech, Terry, Cole and Lampard have enough experience.

Agree3 Disagree3

Who's Alex Torres? i think you mean Oliver Torres

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah Sorry Oliver Torres...so impressed with this kid...next Xavi in the making for sure! and with regards to the experienced players...Malouda have stolen a living in football, the only two with decent experience would be Essien and Ferreira!

Agree3 Disagree2

How you can have a wish list without Messi on it I don't know...

IB.

Agree2 Disagree3

The experiences players that u want to sell help foreign players settle at the club. With the amount of young players we are signing they are needed. Simple.

Agree3 Disagree3

Your wish list has nothing defensive in mind, would make a few changes there.

Devon.

Agree1 Disagree2

Messi is not there because I dont like him! Ronaldo is my top boy! Experienced players costing us money and there are plenty of others to help them settle...Terry, Lamps, Cech, Cole, even the likes of Ramires, Luiz, Torres, Mata, Mikel, Ivanovic...not exactly youth team players! and we dont need anything defensive! Simple...we are sound...Terry, Cahill, Luiz, Kalas, Chabolah, Bruma, Ake, Bertrand, Cole, Aanholt, Hutchinson, Mikel, Romeu, Lamps will play there now u will see. So....the only ones i would want would maybe be Subotic, Van der Wiel, Fabio and Rafael and thats about it....and just to state...I dont think Lukaku, Josh or Paizon should go anywhere on Loan...and not happy about Kakuta...that kid is decent and with a little run in the team will come good! Saw his game against Marseille for Dijon last year and he destroyed them single handedly....That is the only thing wrong with chelsea...we are absolutely pony at bringing through talent! look at Borini....bit of a slap in the face!

....................cech................
Ivano...terry..Luis..Cole.
............lampard..............
.Mata...Oscar...hazard.
........Cavani....torres......
Solid defence the same as last year.
Lampard can play as holding midfield bit will be encouraged to tame his attacking tendencies. With his experience he will be able to duo that.
The attacking midfield ifs where it gets competitive. With so many midfielders there is going to be a lot of competition in this area. Oscar is in the centre and this performance in the Olympics has shown his quality even at his age.
Hazard may have wanted to take the centre however he had shown he can work in the left.
The right spot I have given to Mata in favor of ramires. This is purely because of his great performance last season and I wanted to include him. I am sure he would be completely capable however, if not then ramires it's the man.
Now this partnership in the striker positionis one I'm throwing out there to see what you guys think. Cavani had recently been made available after Napoli shutting the door on us. For £35mil he could play with Torres. With Torres linking up with the more technical hazard and Oscar and Cavani with Mata and Oscar. If this works then we can say with confidence we have the best attacking team in Europe.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

If u are going to use that many attackers ramires or Essien is a better fit for that lampard role.

So it's said that Chelsea is run by the players, they have big egos, they got AVB and Scolari sacked, bla bla bla.

What they mean is Chelsea has players big game players or actually leaders. These leaders were the ones that pulled the club through the end of last season. While things didn't seem kosher with AVB, his man management skills sucked, or were non-existent, the players I'm sure made it difficult for him.

These same players though were the leaders that got us through the Champions league and FA Cup, they had a point to prove and prove it they did. However, with Drogba leaving and Frank getting on, we need a leader to fill this gap, even if it is just Drogba's at the moment. The 'spine of the team' is important when the manager is weak. Mourinho was a great leader, inspiring his players, not dissimilar to what Drogba used to do.

My problem is, I don't see RDM as a great motivator or leader. He made a few controversial decisions last year, possibly like leaving Torres out the final of the Champions League, but Torres is an easy target for RDM, offering little resistance compare to a player like Lampard for example?

We have a lot of new players in the team, the older guys playing for personal glory will be less motivated, the ones playing for the badge are moving on and we'll have a new generation of Chelsea stars that are going to need motivation, direction and support.

Lets hope we're got this mix right.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

If the players got AVB sacked shame on them they couldn't handle the fact things were changing and didn't like it shame on them. And also shame on them for not playing for us fans! BLUEBOY1

Avb was a mug and would have run our club into the ground, it's a good job he is gone, but it must be said he did bring some good ideas, just poor man management

1- CECH- still one of the best around, i expect courtios to test him though in a couple years. played alot better under di matteo with a stronger defence. cant beat cech on form and boy didnt it come on time in may.
2- IVANOVIC- probably 4th choice centre back 1st choice right back even if azpilicueta does sign. scores a few goals. solid defencively, just what we need if we do go really attacking ie if hazard, marin, oscar, mata, ramires all start.
3- COLE- geting on but still one hell of a left back, do i need to say it? yes he is the best left back in the world, RDM intergrated young ryan last year at the right time. ashley will have plenty of rests this season if needed without us lot worrying about some dodgy left back.
4- LUIZ- the geezer, wondeful quick centre half, sometimes eratic defencively but u gota love him. i personally agree with pinky that DM he should be tried at, he can pass better than mikel, create, shoot and run with the ball. im not sure who my centre back pairing would be him and cahill will share.
5- ESSIEN - the old bison is what we need, if fit my 1st choice DM. really impressed with him vs a strong psg team changed the game with young josh. fingers crossed. downfall super frank will be benched.
6- ROMEU - a favoured DM under AVB, to be fair was really impressed with him. i dont know why RDM hardly used him. best ball won ratio for us last year. good passer and tackles. may go back to barca? but i prefer oriol to meirelles or mikel.
7- RAMIRES- our warrior! he was brilliant for us wether on the wing, right back, centre mid. hes just a chettah in disguise. he is one of first names on team sheet centre mid though. not as effective out wide but versatile enough to 4 back up. improved as the season moved on so i expect even more of him this season.
8- LAMPARD- hard time with AVB. still scores alot for a midfielder even at his age. cant play him next to mikel. it ruins his passing and ends up going side to side. it did start looking as if if he doesnt score he doesnt do alot else. longer the season goes on i think we will see lesser and lesser of frank.
9- TORRES- hes unfairly treated, yes he hasnt done well but its down to poor football by most of the team, slow build up doesnt suit him. the neww digning should benefit him alot. i believe he will do well this year. people need to remember he came to life end of season. and with out his assists 4 luiz v valencia or gor kalou v benfica we might not of got to the CL final. wait till jan if still nothing then we know he has to go.
10- MATA- player of the year. settled in so well last season, looked tired towards the end. brilliant signing. gunna have to fight for his place though. very gifted player. new attacking passing football will suit him so much better.
11-OSCAR- well cant say alot on him apart from what ive seen at olympics and my god hes got it all. o & he took the drogs prized number 11 shirt presure on!
12- MIKEL- made some good tackles in 3 games, but we played to his strenghs not my favourite player to be honest. cant pick a good pass whick for me is essential with a ball winner. to slow on the ball and far to slow to release it. shouldnt play with frank. prefer a fit essien & maybe even romeu because he wont suit our new attacking play.
14- DE BRUYNE- great prospect, loan is good thing to the german league up from belguim. hes a great passer but left wing is packed gor a moment. i have seen him play box to box numerous times and i think he is better centrally lampard written all over him. great with both feet aswell. looked lost pre season but you cant blame him.
15- MALOUDA- should be sold we have mata, hazard & marin now. never been a fan one good season under ancelottis double winning season 09-10.
16- MEIRELLES- ON & OFF, great squad player, i feel he could be sold and put trust in mceachran. scored a cracker v benfica and did play some important assists and goals. but jesus his passing is wild.
17-HAZARD- we all know his potential and what he can do. if he mata, marin oscar all gel and pass and create ther gunna ruin most defences in europe. only problem is will he settle like juan or take a season. no matter what werre gunna see glimpses what ever happens. he want the central role, but i think thy will all rotate throughout games.
18-LUKAKU- RAW. 18 million seems alot. needs a loan spell for sure. bad first touch. im not hunna criticise because he is so young. but if he can fill his potential hell be a handfull for the biggest defenders. reminds me of somone not sure who, some god from somewhere.
19-FERREIRA- the loyal servant, last year at chelsea and yes he deserves to finish his career here just as much as any other. probably be 3rd choice, well i hope so lol. maybe a coaching role.
20-MCEACHRAN- if were gunna take time to gel he should be given time to play. best passing centre mid we have by far. rather josh got time than meirelles, mikel or malouda. if not a loan is needed. him and ess played really well together RDM ddnt ry it again which was disapointing to e honest.
21-MARIN- gunna be a gem, if he can get bettr at shooting hes gunna be a bargain well he is anyway. i thihk hell settle quickly. great dribberler.
23-STURRIDGE- apart from the fact i hate big headed people before thr world class pisses me off, but then again as they say you cant beat a confident striker. he deserves his chance through the middle. got the pace, and a good left foot. problems hes to greedy. if somone like cavani sighs dont be shocked to see him leave.
24-CAHILL- surprised with gary, scores a few, quick, solid. good partnership with terry. 50-50 over him and luiz.
26-TERRY- without jt in defence we do lack organisation, hes never been the quickest but is our captain and our leader, did my nut in against barca but thts john thats why we love him. we are going to have to move on from jt one day, not yet though.

Not sure if they will breakthrough this year but our main prospects are: Lucas Piazon (Maybe a few 1st team opportunities this year as he started a few times on the bench towards the end of last season, he has been labelled the new kaka), Nathaniel Chalobah (recently impressed at U20 World cup for england can play either CB or CM), Todd Kane (an exciting RB recently made youth team captain), Patrick Bamford (purchased in january from nottingham forest for £1mil which suggests he is talented), other prospects include Nathan Ake, Islam Feruz (a gifted striker but may have an attitude problem), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (who if rumours are to be believed has been suspect of interest from Barcelona). This is just the players who are still at Chelsea and there are several other players on loan, such as Thibaut Courtois (seen as our future no.1 and already Atletico Madrid's no.1 helping them win the Europa League last year at the young age of 20). Furthermore we have acquired several young players in recent transfer windows most notably Thorgan Hazard who if he progresses like his brother could be phenomenal (Eden even described him as the better brother), Kevin De Bruyne (who will be on loan at Werder Bremen this year) and Romelu Lukaku (purchased for reportedly £16mil though this seems fairly large, he is clearly a talent and has all the physical qualities of a top striker but lacks confidence largely due to the way he felt he was treated under AVB). Added to this many of our first team players for next year are all young, with Hazard 21, Bertrand 22 and Oscar 20 (?), and will be mainstays in the team for years to come, even Mata is only 23. Sorry for the length of this, but it is a topic i try to follow closely, after all it is the future of our team and there is also a lot to tell as our youth teams have been the most successful in England in the past couple of years winning two of the last three youth cups. The establishment of an U21 Premiership will provide further opportunities to watch this prospects and needless to say our future looks bright. Hope this helped, there is further information on all academy and youth players on the chelsea website though this can be slightly biased, although I suppose the players would not be in the academy or reserves if the management did not see good qualities in them.

Jamal Blackmon-goalkeeper-6'7" and an orange Mohawk. What else could you ask for?

Todd Kane-right full back-moving nicely through the England ranks.

Nathaniel chalobah-centre half/right full back-very versatile and looks to have an outstanding future.

Nathan ake-cente half-captained the Dutch u19 team to a euro championship. Gonna be a stud.

Lucas piazon-attacking mid-very technically gifted and skilled. Gonna be really good.

Islam feruz-winger/striker-very fast and has good skills. He was the crown jewel of Celtics youth system. Key there being was.
