I really think one of our biggest problem is that - Di Matteo he only use the same 11-13 players and when there comes and injury, we stand in a important game with a player that have played 1 game out of 15 and hardly can remember last time he played with the team. I really think that is one of the best thing for the regular starters is a good weeks rest for some of the players when the less important/easy matches is being played. we have lots of options on the bench and a few people that can play in different positions so it shouldnt be a problem. Also Di Matteo rarely substitude players so they dont play all 90min even if we have pretty much won the match.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

My God Luiz has to go. Love his flair but he is a time bomb. I know we all talk about getting an additional striker and possibly get quicker and pivot spot but what about getting a good quality cb in window. Could be Terry's last year..... Somebody to form a strong partnership with Cahill as we move forward. Your thoughts??

Agree3 Disagree2

Said tht all game! He never takes a risk! Di Matteo is predictable!! I feel we won't see cesar... Marin... Piazon
Would love to see someone like pep...just chances to youngsters etc! I feel we will always by youngsters but no given the chance thy would get at arsenal or even utd at times! It's a shame really! :/

How often this season have we been in a comfortable winning position? Say at the 60 minute mark?

IB.

Agree1 Disagree1

IB it has nothing to with that at all. i mean what would the harm be if we benched Ramires for a game and gave Moses one instead and moving Oscar down? Nothing at all and then he would be fresh for next game and Moses would get some game in his legs. You do not have to be comfortable in a winning position to give the benched people some chances, its not like they are terrible players they just need to play more games to improve and our starting 11 need to get more rest.
If the benched players isent gonna play more than they are now, they are never gonna improve and our starting players are gonna sleep on the pitch from faitgue after new year.

Agree1 Disagree1

I'm all for rotation don't get me wrong, my previous comment was in response to part of the first post.

Just got back from the game! Ok performance lucky at times, def lacking in the def mid area! Even if mikel had a ok game! Bertrand is def not ready, srna was playing as a ring winger! :/

Up the blues! Mosessssss!!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Thought mikel was really good. the problem was the back four, bertrand looked a little suspect (thats ok hes still learning), luiz just looked disinterested

Agree0 Disagree1

Mikel really good. He didn't protect the back four what so ever! Lost the ball an f ing lot. I don't think you understand the holding midfield role!

Challenging for the Premier league, doing well in the C.L and current European champions and some of you still moan about your own players.Unbelievable Jeff....................... Lee.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

People easily getting use to good things but forgetting to appreciate it. Human nature I guess.
DanCfan

Agree0 Disagree0

Challenging in November means nothing, if we are to be challenging in April/May and winning then we need to tighten up at the back. We cant rely on scoring 2 or 3 goals every game in order to win.
Luiz is a liability with no discipline, when he go's awol everyone else has to fill the gaps and we loose our shape and structure while he jogs back. I know he is a character but we need a solid defence, something we dont have with him at the moment.

Sky and BBC both reporting Shakhtar are above us in the group, despite us having a better goal difference.

Are they above us due to away goals?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Shaktar have one less goal conceded. All going to change when Juve do us a favour against Shaktar by crunching out a draw and we thrash Norsjaelland at SW6.
Up the Chels!
EH17

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah but we have scored more goals, so shouldnt we be on top?

Agree0 Disagree1

Does it not go by head to head? They beat us so they are ahead of us

Agree1 Disagree1

But we also beat them...

Agree1 Disagree0

We conceded 2 at home and they only conceded 1 at home, thats the difference

I am getting so angry to see the pivot so lacy, not caring, cba to defend attitude etc, destroying alot of our games, we have lost alot of goals and some games cause of them.
And i am very suprised Ramires has gotten such a attitude and they should both change that asap.

Today against Shaktar at the 2nd goal against us both of them was standing a few meters away from William when he scored, they just stood and looked at him score while walking casualy towards the goal instead of going close to him and deny him the chance to get the ball.

Also they both fail horribly at getting the ball up to the attacking players i am gutted to see that especially Mikel unable to do it most of the time when either Luiz or Cahill do it further away. They cannot control the midfield at all and Ronaldinho bossed them around today. We often looked stuck at the link before the attacking midfielders, and either Oscar, Mata or both had to track back everytime to help the pivot out to pass the ball forward.

I really liked how Shaktar played and you could really see that they have played that way for a long time. Hopefully we play something like that in the near furture with the quick pass's and great understanding for eachother, problem is just the pivot the game ALWAYS slow down when we hit them with the ball and that is costing us goals.

And Luiz i really dont know what to say about him, if he keeps to continue like this i hope Matteo put him on the bench. It cannot be true at his level he still fu ck up the most simple things, and make standard situations dangerous for us and keeps going forward when it is not safe to do. It sometimes cost us goals when he do such things but he never really seem to understand his faults and fix them, and that really scares me.

I really hope Mikel and Ramires start to playing their best with a great attitude, cause at the moment it is probably our weakst link and that needs to be fixed or we wil concede many more goals and games.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Personally,i thought that was one of Mikels best games in a blue shirt. LEE.

Agree4 Disagree0

Ronaldinho bossed them around? That's impressive.

No matter what Mikel does, he doesn't just do enuf. I personally think Ramires was the weak point in midfield.

Agree2 Disagree2

Well i dont say Mikel is bad. He is just not very good at playing this style, last year he worked perfectly in but we did not play this sort of style to win.

This style is kinda build on quick pass's and runs, and everyone know that Mikel is pretty poor at that.

Agree4 Disagree1

LEE, well yeah he looks good cause mainly of Oscar he ALWAYS come down and help him out with the ball imagine if not? he would have 90% pass to defenders/Cech and look extremly bad, he just dosent fit this style of play.

chelsea vs shaktar

cech - saved us in various occasions, good game
ivanovic - ok, some good attacking, but a bit slow defending
cahill - what a player, he is so switched on and aware all the time
luiz - defensively useless, never awake
bertrand - lack of experience, didnt really get help though
ramires - a bit selfish at times, when he tries to sprint forward before passing but good game
mikel - omg, i wished his goal was allowed, he is becoming more concentrated and stronger
mata - a bit more switched off today, but watevs, great corner in the end
oscar, brilliant goal, some nice flash passing and dribbles
hazard - also a bit more switched off, but some good pace and strength
torres - lucky goal, at least he worked for it, a bit useless though

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Mata was f*****g superb as usual you person !!!

For one game I'd like David Luiz to play holding role along with ramire, not a dig at mikel or anything but he is no way a centre back

Cech
Azpilcueta. Ivanovic. Cahill. Cole
Luiz. Ramires
Mata. Oscar. Hazard
Torres

We have really got out of jail tonight. Shakter are a really good team. Absolutely delighted with the result however we have to have a balanced reflection on the team. Defensively we are all over the place and no matter what the fans think of Luiz as a character its about football and he is a shambles defensively. He moves out of position so often leaving a huge gap in the centre leaving us exposed and doesn't bust a gut getting back. The CB pairing. has to be Cahill and Ivanovic with Cesar at RB Some people will go on about Mikel but I thought he did ok. Bertrand also looked exposed and not ready yet, however he didn't get much help. Happy to be still in it with it in our own hands.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

I cant understand how an ex pro footballer in RDM cant see how bad luiz is! he gonna cost us games! if he still gets in when terry is back then am gonna worry!

kevinCFC

Agree1 Disagree3

Well Bertrand is never playing games as RB which i dont understand.
its stupid to keep playing Cole especially when he gets a little older, its also very dumb not to play bertrand a game now and then so Cole can relax and is fresh and ready to go in the big games. Also it gives Bertrand more experience and since Cole hasent signed a contract yet i dont get why Bertrand do not play more often

Agree3 Disagree1

Have you ever had a day without worrying about everything kevin?

I would hope Bertrand isn't playing games at RB since he is a LB.

Fernandinho has expressed his desire for a January move to the Premier League, is that anything Chelsea would be interested in?
I'd see him as a very good replacement for Mikel if we cannot get Paolinho, problem is that he is 27 years old, but still a very good player that completly controlled Ramires and Mikel on the midfield against us.

Thanks in advance Ed. {Ed002's Note - Why would Chelsea be interested in replacing Mikel? Efforts are being made to secure a new long-term contract for him.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I hope this is another witty reply by you ed002. I really don't know what the chelsea management see in him.

Mikel is being offered a 5 year contract.

Looking forward to everyone blaming Torres for tonight when David Luiz is as much of a defender as my left nut..!! How are we to win when we can't keep clean seers, fed up of everyone saying Torres this etc when it's our defence letting us down

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Luiz was poor but so was torres. it is possible that two people have a bad game you know

Agree2 Disagree2

Our worst player was Ramires yesterday followed by Bertrand. Not that im blaming them just Ramires has bad games and then games of genius and Bertrand hsas barely played at lb (Why Di Matteo keeps subbing hi, as a midfielder i'll never know). Luiz and Torres didnt cover themselves in glory but so what we won.

Agree1 Disagree0

Torres had a decent game! In the first half he was a big threat and shot alot more than usual. He only looked bad in the second cos the we got outplayed and hardly had the ball. I was at the game and in one situation we kept it for over a minute and got nowhere, then Torres came deeper picked it up and ran at the defense winning a free kick just on the edge. He played well!

Mikel and Bertrand are liabilities. Give cole new contract. Go get Vidal or m'villa. Mikel ain't good enough neither is Bertrand. Take off luiz and bring on JT. Mon the blues

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Your a disgrace. Bertrand is young and doesn't get a lot of playing time at lb so stop posting because you have no idea.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Mikel

Agree6 Disagree1

Exactly Mikel people who favour him don't understand his role.

Agree1 Disagree2

No way. Its ramires. Mikel has been solid this half....oscar future champion of europe?
SG

Agree3 Disagree1

Its not mikel's fault, we started the game giving them alot of space and pressurerizing, after we scored we started pressing

Agree1 Disagree1

Actually I think people who 'favour' Mikel do understand his role.

Sorry, are you expecting him to stop every attack single handedly?

IB.

Agree1 Disagree1

The thing is, with our front trio, often they all end up centrally, so when the opposition counter attack on the wings, Mikel and Ramires move out to support our full backs. Which leaves space in front of our back four. I feel that both goals though could have been avoided as neither Ramires or Mikel tracked their movement into the box.

Torres needs to deliver ,
Everything has been done to help him and we need him to repay abit tonight.
Can't see it happening myself.
I posted on here about 8 months ago how people say that pro footballers never lose it , and I said that theory has been quashed , as I think Fernando has "lost it" , I got slated on here for this comment. There's nothing I'd like more than Torres to come good for us but his days as a top draw centre forward are long gone.
I hope he rams this comment down my throat by scoring the winner tonight.
Cfcmatt.

i like your thinking out the box but id rather moses go on the wing and hazard up front too be honest hes more clinical plus you dont need 2 strikers on the bench

curt

Agree0 Disagree3

Torres will start. You also have Bertrand on the bench and in the starting 11. Marin and Azpilicueta will be on the bench.

Agree2 Disagree0

Theres no need to put piazon on the bench because he is not ready. He still needs 2 - 3 seasons to start getting appearances for us in big games. He needs to work on bulking up and positioning.

From a confidence and momentum point of view i think tonights game is a must win for us,think its a huge blow being knocked off the top of the league table so if we can go top of our group in the champions league this will at least give us something to feel good about and go out on sat. trying to regain top-spot with more confidence...

This is just a wish but in a 3 or 4 years i would love our starting line up to support two centre fowards. I would like to see the pair of lukaku and feruz together, what a strike force that would be!
Jono

I do hope feruz fills his potential. I'd love to see him upront for us in a few years time.

Lukaku is average at best. 1st touch is bad.

Agree2 Disagree4

He's 19. When drogba came to us his first touch wasn't brilliant but look how he turned out. I just wish some fans would give young players a chance and not expect them to be the perfect player as soon as they come in our side.
