Unlucky over modric lads, guess the bigger club won. At least you got meireles.

Whilst were playing with the likes if barca and Madrid have fun with shamrock rovers

I am actually really happy! Spuds turned down the best deal they were EVER going to get and we got let off wasting £40 million. We get Meireles who handed in a transfer request to be here and you kept Modric who handed in a transfer request to be here. Win Win all around for Chelsea and Liverpool, not so much for Spuds though.

Agreed, it's kind of a surprise to me why Spurs would reject 40m for a player who wanted out desperately and didn't want to play.

It wasn't 40M, it was 30M plus Alex or 27M plus Kalou and Benayoun... some kind of player and cash deal. Harry busted out his handy calculator and came up with 40M.

I'm happy we never got Modric, would rather have Ganso in January. You got to think though, how sad and pathetic must Daniel Levy be making a player stay against his own will. weather it be Chelsea or some other team Modric will definatley be leaving in January.

Ed I know it is far fetched but can Modric quit Spurs and join CFC as a free agent? Apologies don't know much about football contracts {Ed002's Note - No, he can't. That is why contracts exist.}

With the current forms that Man U, Man City and Liverpool have, where do you see Chelsea to be positioned this season.

As die-hard fans, we don't have any option rather than being optimistic and hope for best to happen for the Club.

This season is going to be the most competitive season of EPL, most suppose.

So, we were really expecting to have one or two more signings this summer, that couldn't happen.

May AVB handle the situation with his expertise as many believe. {Ed002's Note - The club will be fine.}

Anelka is still acceptable he got the equaliser against WBA...as we need a backup for our forwards...Million Dollar question is when will torres start to fire? forget scoring when he will start challenging the keeper....Team is ok one cannot have a perfect ultimate team ( only barca seem to have it). Chelsea's fortune will revolve around how Mr.Torres is going to play.

I am very upset by the way so called chelsea fans treat their players. calling yousi, saloman crap and rubbish really hurts a true and real blues fan. We should treat these people who entertain us with football with respect. I request editors not to post comments ridiculing any football player in near future. These comments come from those stuipd people who just play fantasy football on playstation or other consoles.

Kalou is crap, yossi is seriously underated. dont call people not true chelsea fans, everyone has a player they dont lik. kalou hasnt got any better since he joined from feyenord.

Now the mayhem that is the transfer window has passed,at least until January I would like to offer my thanks to both ED002 and ED018 for the excellent updates and work they have put in to keep us updated.I can honestly say that due to ED002 taking the time to give a very in depth explanation as to why all bar Man City are unable to compete with PSG in the transfer market along with the details of how players are viewed by both club and especially agents as current, albeit depreciating assets I have much more insight into the murky world of the transfer market.
So once again guys thank you, I really appreciated and enjoyed it all and hope you will do it all again for us come the January transfer window.
p.s ED002 was Chris Alexander born in the US if not pop goes one of my guesses.

Not sure if im depressed or hungover (never even drank last night) but yesterdays deadline day was really poor by CFC standards, anti-climax isnt even the word to describe it, 40mil for Mod 1minute Meireles last minute for 12mil, panic buysprings to mind, what bothers me most is we didnt get rid of the likes of Anelka Kalou Malouda (players who know they havent got what it takes and are more than happy too sit back and collect their fat pay check every week). Jan cant come quick enough.

Hi. Liverpool fan here, just saying that meireles had a good few games at the end of last season and isnt anything special. He cant tackle and can only play as an attacking midfielder and i believe he wont be in your starting eleven. Anyway good luck for the season.

Hi eds Guys/gals im a liverpool fan have been for 66yrs,nevever been on your site before,I have a few observations which I would like to share and would like your feedback,first of all I think your owner obvious enjoyment at games is great to see,in regards to the team it appears that your forwards and midfield are all cluttered together which certainly doesnt help torrez and their is nobody to slip the ball through sneijder/alonso/style.why are you still hanging onto anelka/lampart/mikle/and even drogba,none of the managers you have had have given the owner what he wants and that is a winning team that plays beautiful football,I think you made a great addition with mata but I believe all that deadwood should have been dumped doesnt anybody in management see that.

cant believe the ridiculous response to the meireles signing. Modric scored once last year and made 7 assists he is not worth 40 million, meireles on the other hand scored five and is clearly creative. won pfa fans player of the year, can we give him a chance. we could have ended up with arteta and he is far far worse! AVB has worked with him before so im sure he knows him well enough- support the team!

Correct me if I am wrong but Meireles joined Liverpool last summer from Porto. AVB became the Porto manager last summer.

So maybe AVB has worked with him for a couple of weeks, but he definitely hasn't worked with him for a long time like you are making out.

Wether hes worked with him or not is irrelevant. Everyone has been whining about lack of numbers in midfield, mereiles adds this. He showed he can do a good job at the back end of last season, and the fact that most loserpool fans are gutted hes gone should show us something!

Merieles is a good player,better than mikel/benayoun.We needed some width and pace,which has not arrived.Again teams will park the bus against us and we will struggle to break them down with the slow paced football we play.I'm sure we will spend in January when again we realise our mistakes.Really frustrated,not with the lack of quality we have but the lack of pace going forward.I don't think we have the players to play the 4-3-3 formation AVB plays.
4-1-2-1-2 would suit us better
Cech,cole,luiz,Terry,bosingwa/ivanovic,lampard,ramires,
Merieles,and mata behind Torres and drogba.

Not looking too good is it really.

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to say that I'm satisfied with the transfer activities during the summer. We could have brought Sneijder to Stamford Bridge as it was mentioned even before he was linked to MU, but hey, can't get all of them. Meireles is a really good player, and we are lucky to have him. As some of you said earlier, all we need right now is for Torres to start scoring again, and with that sky is the limit. Hopefully Mata and Lukaku are gonna adept to the PL football soon. Marielles will play lots of games in lots of different positions - really versatile and shows flashes of class - good signing and value for money for once.
