Way I see it, Rafa is doing a good job for us. They are playing better football, defending and not conceding as many goals, our passing is much better and he has change Luiz to a defensive midfielder where he belongs. Only minor criticism is that he gives Torres more credit than he is due and has to make excuses up for him. Whether that comes from the top to keep Torres from spitting the dummy out I don't know. I would have to say it would be a dream come true to have Jose back at the club, don't quite know what happened when he left us but as I understand it he is still very good friends with Roman. Just hope now we don't leave it too late to get a few more quality signings in, wouldn't like to see Cavani leave Napoli for any other club than ours. Scott M.

hey ed, just a curious question, how do you guys decide whether a post will be displayed on the rumors page or the banter page??? {Ed018's Note - generally if its a rumour, it will go on the rumour page, or if it is a question regarding a interest in a player it generally goes on the rumour page,. pretty much everything else goes on banter}

while all the booing of benitez continues at the bridge I can see the team continue to struggle to win games because this stupid atmosphere must be getting through to the players and is certainly helping the other team without doubt these persons that keep booing will only create a crap feeling for the team and definitely a bonus for the other team I know rafa will never be liked by some cfc fans but for the good of the club this bad feeling must stop now or results will get a lot worse at the bridge this is a fact like it or not all blues need to get behind the team at home otherwise kiss goodbye to champs league footy next season come on people just think what you are doing to the players of our great club. TERRY. CFC. 4EVER.

I think the problem is the fans are worried that if rafa is backed too much, it will look as if we like him & he will stay past this season. do we want that? BLUEBOY1

Just came to check on some facts and wanted to reflect on them. We have just played 37th game of the season. And it's mid January, only. Considering we are still involved in 4 competitions, the workload these guys are being put through is just enormous. We are about to encounter another 20-25 games depending on the progress of the competitions we are in.

This leads to voicing a few questions. We knew that we are in for the hardest schedule in our clubs history. We knew that we got AFCoN for a duration of one month in the thick of the schedule. But yet again we registered the smallest squad of all EPL and one of the youngest as well.

We field 2-4 guys in the starting lineup, which were not at the club at last season. But at the same time we have used roughly 16 players all season long. I'm not going to include the cameo appearances of Ross Turnbull, or Marin or Piazon into this count. We are running these guys into the ground.

We saw what this talent is capable of when fresh. At the start of the season. But then the games come thicker and schedule is mounting and the results are in demand. But these kids are human, for Christ sake.

JT out, Lamps out, Romeu done for the season, Mikel and Moses out on AFCoN. We are terribly shorthanded. And at the same time - we don't recall anyone. We happily extend the loan deals. We did one transfer in. And we continue prioritizing these dumb cups, for the league games.

It's astonishing. QPR at home and Southampton away in FA. Benitez rests our key guys for a rival game in EPL for an away game in FA Cup. Arsenal and Man United never bother for those cups, because their managers understand that they are as good as the training field for their kids. Now we play our strongest eleven every time.

Benitez should know better than us if there are players coming in. He should know how many available players does he have. And what are the priorities. I can guarantee you, that he is asked to finish in top 4. Top 3 preferably due to extra preliminary games for the 4th seed in the dawn of CL group staging.

But, we are chasing any possible cup, like crazy. Given the size of the squad, the inexperience, the injuries, the absentees - do the right thing. Put kids on, bolt out of them cups and grind points in the league.

Being in CL and being out of it is roughly a 50 million euro question, depending of how far you advance. That is compared to 8 million euro question if you are in Europa League if you win it. You don't have to be an accountant for Deloitte to figure out the difference.

That generally is the difference between getting Marin or Hazard. I did not put them here randomly. This is real story. We got Marin when we we clear that we are out of top 4 with no CL in sight, unless we won it of course, which we did. And it's well documented that Hazard would not have come to Chelsea if we were not in CL.

This, mind you is difference between getting Falcao in the summer or settling for someone named Aspas. And not to take anything away from the Aspas kid, you know better than anyone what a difference a world class striker does. Just look at the league table.

I am blamed here for negativity, or "not liking Benitez". Quite honestly, I don't give a sh.. who the manager is. It can be Emenalo if he wishes to, as long as he delivers. Which this fella clearly doesn't.

It don't matter if he is Spanish or Albanian, a tapas waiter or a former electrician, RB has the worst statistical record of all of our managers under Abramovich. It is not about like or not like. It is about the results.

Game against Corinthians. The Brazilian kids thrive for that final, they are born and raised dreaming of one day lifting that cup. Just like English fellas look up to the FA Cup. The rule in management is you got to select the players which give you the best chance of winning the game. Luiz was immense against Monterrey in the middle, but of course Rafa being Rafa - drops him to the defence, just for the sake of rotating and leaves Oscar on the bench.

Rest is history. The brazilian guys are in tears, mad at not being played, etc., etc. Club agrees with Nigerian FA to keep Obi and Moses for 2 extra games as we are shorthanded. But - he never plays Obi, instead sticking with Lamps in each game. I love of course, but - is Lamps a good bet to be fresh playing every 3 days? Look at his last game and you see - his passing is horrible, positioning even worse. He's jaded. And so is Mata.

What the hell was the idea of playing first 11 away against Southampton? Benitez played 2 defensive midfielders against QPR at home. with QPR rarely ever leaving their half. You can never guess before the game. But, you can always adjust it, can't you? Hell no. Not this fella. So he starts the game against Southampton at home without defensive midfielders, per se. Southampton don't sit deep and just flat out defend. Contrary, they are active and have a lot of possession, and we can't intercept the damn ball. One can adjust it during the game. But this fella won't.

i just don't get it. This is simple stuff. You are not here to make decisions on players careers in 3-5 years, care about their development, plan the targets for next term, or anything. You are not asked to play fancy footy, or pretend to be a fat version of Pep. All you are asked to is perform your best and fulfill the targets.

Yet he is so obsessed with winning over the fans, that the forgets he's here on temporary basis with some clear tasks. Noone will get the full time job by winning 2 games at home out of 9. Just grind them points, RAFA!!

Sorry for the long post. Let's get behind the last, cut them boos, it don't help. This is Lamps and Cole's last season fellas. And don't matter how much one can be displeased with the current form, let's celebrate their careers, lets cheer on the team, finish top 4 and hope to finally land a proper manager to guide us through.

Carefree!

Hi guys, how do you guys feel about the
Zola as next manager rumours? You happy at the idea? As a Liverpool supporter I'd be pleased at the thought of
An ex legend taking over, it didn't seem to work out too well for Robbie though. What are your thoughts?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I'd have Zola or Poyet before Benitez anyday

CfcBenWxm

Agree9 Disagree3

Dont think zola or poyet are ready for the top class yet.

Agree8 Disagree8

They have been in management over 5 years now. Each. If they are not ready "yet", they may never be ready.

Cfcben please tell me what you base that on? Just cuz they're x players? What have either of them archived in management ? Nowt that's what.
If div's like you and all the other plastics got off rafa's back and let him get on with his job he may actually do a good job.
If we had Zola as our manager (as much as I loved him as a player) he'd take us down the table rapido.
Brilliant players don't always make brilliant managers.
Poyet needs to manage in the top flight b4 he takes on a job as big as ours.

Agree3 Disagree6

Bit harsh fella, true supports support the team, NOT the manager, rafa is not the man for the job and never will be, if you really follow the blues then you would understand why he is not wanted.

Agree3 Disagree2

Well the mr know it all you tell me what big manager will want to manage us when we sack them all the time you person!

I really rate Poyet as a manager, he deserves a step
up to the prem, not to Chelsea yet though

Agree2 Disagree2

What was Mourinhos management experience before Porto? Fergusons before United? Guardiolas before Barcelona? The list goes on! You don't have to manage in a top league to be a top manager - someone has to take that risk on you at some point. Ruling them out just because they haven't managed another Premiership club, or another top European league or won any titles is a poor reason! Not saying Zola or Poyet would be my first choice but if we were basing our search on that criteria then we are very limited in our options!

I think micheal laudrap or Steve Clarke would be decent shouts, if we don't get mourinho

What do you mean BIG manager? I can only think of BIG SAM! why why ou have to get abusive is beyond me, I don't want a BIG manager just a club/ owner that's allows the right man the time need. And sorry Rafa ain't that man I really can't believe you need the reasons explained too you. If you've ever heard of the term proper 'chels' then you know he will never belong.

Big ek ( Alex MacLeish ) there's another.

Big Phil scolari, don't want him back thanks very much.

True, but for your information, Ferguson had massive success at Aberdeen before he was at United - when the Scots league was a proper league and in Europe.

Hi guys do any of you think if AVB has given the squad we are currently having, he would have done the better job?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Personally, I think he was the way forward, for the long term, however his only problem, was he was too sudden to change the squad, taking thelikes of Lampard, Terry etc. and replacing it without having a 'core' to the team, there was no experience, and that's why we struggled

Just a bit of trivia for fellow Chelsea fans. Mourinho went 150 home games undefeated from 2002 at Porto to 2011 at Real Madrid. Also before joining us from Porto, he publicly stated he'd rather join Liverpool, but they chose to hire Benitez instead. Aha When I found that out I found it quite funny. If Liverpool had hired Mourinho we might have ended up with Rafa instead.
