Have I missed something? A lot of rumours suggesting mata will not our current system. We haven't changed any system. Did we? We have been playing the same system in which mata excelled for 2 seasons. Can somebody explain what is our new system?

1.) I could be wrong, but as far as I know it's our style that has changed, Mourinho likes to play defensive and Mata can't use his full potential if he has to defend too.

2.) I have been saying this again again, but everybody seems to forget that when ozil played for Madrid under Mou, he seldom used to work defensively. We didnot have a proper defensive mid, who is actually good at defending and is good on the ball. Inorder to balance between attack and defence mou wanted oscar/mata to work defensively, to which mata couldnot adapt. Now we have signed matic, I certainly think Mou will use mata more often. Time will tell

3.) Mourinho is playing a high-pressing, counter-attacking game. It requires versatility, stamina, defensive ability and speed for when the play transitions from defence to attack. Mata would be ideal for when we want to control games (from a tempo perspective) however he is probably the least suitable of our 5 attacking midfielders for the style Mourinho is seemingly imposing as our preferred one.

Just a thought on mata. I think ozil was never a work horse at madrid, seldom tracked back and when on ball used to be a magician like mata. But he was one of mou' s favourites at madrid. So why do you think his approach is different with mata? My thought is that, when he took over, mou clearly understood the deficiencies in our defence. We did not have a proper defensive midfielder who could shield our defence. He tried lamps, ramires, essien, mikel, and he probably realized Lamps and ramires where more interested in attacking. Essien isn't the bison anymore, mikel is prone to mistakes when pressed. Van ginkel' s injury worsened the situation. So to balance attack and defence mou wanted his " no.10 role" player to track back. Oscar adapted well, but mata on the other hand had to change his natural game and lost his ability to influence games that made him our best player for last 2 seasons. Now that we have signed matic, a physical def mid who is comfortable on the ball, and our defence looking more solid, hopefully mata will be relieved of his defensive duties so he can play his natural game and I think mou will start using mata more often in second half of the season. What do you lot think? Will the matic signing help mata? By the way, brilliant work eds, you guys are awesome, keep up the good work.

1.) Id love us to sell him at the end of the season and replace him with Barkley. Barkley can cover CAM and CM for our team. He has the size, physical attributes and all round game that Mourinho loves. :)

The players were giving their full physically, but to give 100%, that should come from inside, that should come from heart, only comes when a player loves his game, and when he is happy. Nobody can force it, not even player himself. Mou could have really avoided the Eva saga, and the public insult our team doctor, I feel unwanted controversies really affected our team morale. We could have really done without such controversies. Now by chanting our ex manager's name and booing our own players we are ruining even the slightest chance of a comeback during second half of the season for our club. We need the Hazards and Costas to perform and want them happy, enjoying their football once again if we are to have any genuine chance of finishing in top 6 never mind top 4 and more importantly to have a decent run in Champions League. Now go ahead you boo boys, keep booing our players, louder next time and make them feel alienated, make them know that they don't have support of fans anymore, get us relegated and enjoy your victory when that happens. All the best!
