The father, and agent, of Andreas Christensen has done an interview with Danish media, stating that if Andreas does not get more game time by Christmas, they will pursue a permanent January transfer.

KTBFFH

1.) 19 Oct 2018 19:18:31
Bye then.

2.) 19 Oct 2018 22:51:16
Though he has to improve, good central defenders are hard to come by these days. Looks like Sarri rates him, so I think Sarri should sit with him and talk. He's a good player.

3.) 20 Oct 2018 07:19:30
His father is a joke. Non stop threats when talking to the media. His son on current form ain't good enough to start for Chelsea. Sarri has Cahill ahead of him at the moment and therefore he needs to stop sulking and knuckle down. He has so much potential but I think he won't be showing us his potential at Chelsea. It's not everyday of the week that somebody gets the chance to play for Chelsea.

4.) 20 Oct 2018 08:44:59
As a Dane I hear so much hype of AC, some of which is justified, some which is simply rubbish put out by the media and so-called experts.
However, I get why AC and his father would get the idea that he's good enough to play as a starter for a top 10 club, as so many people in Denmark seem to be thinking that's the case.
Same with Bendtner a few years ago, and while AC's obviously VERY different, much more mature atc., atc., it seems quite common for Danish people to expect way too from our talents, and the players themselves seem to get deluded because of this.
I do think it would be a mistake to let AC go, but no one should give the club ultimatums and expect to come out on top, perhaps unless you're Eden Hazard or of similar caliber. AC, however, is nowhere near that level, and if he truly means what he's said, he should just be moved on.

5.) 20 Oct 2018 11:27:41
I respect that EmilSC. I do think that he is still very young but he is full of talent and staying with us he can only improve. There will def be playing time for him in the future cause if you look at our core at tue back. that not getting any younger. Cahill Luiz. Azpi not in that bracket yet but that means where will be time to play uf he can keep it cool.

6.) 21 Oct 2018 15:29:39
I think he's good, I feel he needs to be strong on the challenge and he's easily pushed off the ball by most strikers which isn't good for a defender. He's a bit lightweight.

20 Aug 2017 13:27:47
I know this is probably just bs, but I've read that Inter are apparently willing to sell Candreva for only 25 million pounds. If that's actually true, it would definitely be a bargain.

KTBFFH

1.) 20 Aug 2017 14:56:37
He's average mate. Not the fastest and he's got a poor cross. Honestly most of these wing backs for the right hand side wouldn't be an improvement on Moses. It's only the likes of Aurier and maybe Cancelo who would. Moses is very under-rated IMO.

2.) 20 Aug 2017 15:50:30
U are right LocoBakayoko.

3.) 20 Aug 2017 17:21:08
He's decent. Conte knows him and wants him. What else matters?

4.) 20 Aug 2017 20:08:11
Agree conthan, plus for a 30 yr old he's still very nippy and has a great cross on him. I'd be happy if he signed.

5.) 20 Aug 2017 21:33:03
Moses has been great, but we could improve, is candreva much of an upgrade? Maybe going forward, if we buy it's has to be to strengthen team ( starting 11 )

6.) 20 Aug 2017 23:37:15
apparently Candreva was dreadful tonight.

7.) 21 Aug 2017 06:46:17
Chelsea doesn't need a 30yrs old signing ( like Candreva) . The only one that we can allow is a Cristiano Ronaldo joining us on free transfer (as a squad player) .

8.) 22 Aug 2017 17:57:31
I could understand Candreva 2 years a go but now I don't see a point.
Chelsea needs left footed outer midfielder as a backup and competition to Alonso,right side is well covered.

08 Aug 2017 13:07:02
Sten Christensen the father of Andreas Christensen has told Danish tv that, Andreas knows that he won't be a starter right away, but that he is still young and ready to fight for his place and prove himself.

On top of that he said he fully expects him to still be a Chelsea player after the transfer window.

Great news guys. Chelsea have officially confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid, for the transfer of Alvaro Morata. Now all that's left is a medical and the personal terms.

KTBFFH

1.) 19 Jul 2017 19:13:46
Good one.
Well done Chelsea. Miss Darren Wood, u must be Psychic.
Cheers guys.

2.) 19 Jul 2017 19:19:45
Fantastic signing if and when it's done. Much like Lukaku, Morata was one which divided opinion a lot among Chelsea fans but personally i couldn't be happier with him. He's a player which has everything but just hasn't had the chance to start in a team. He's also one which Conte really wanted so I'll always back any player Conte is a fan of and wants to play in his team.

3.) 19 Jul 2017 19:00:23
I'll be ok when he signs.

4.) 19 Jul 2017 20:37:28
Sure he is now that Lukaku has come to a better club. you're all deluded and plastic.

5.) 19 Jul 2017 21:58:48
telegrath saying 58 mil which in todays market is actually decent how reliable they are though who knows and tbh who cares not my first choice but ill back him its all about the shirt.

6.) 19 Jul 2017 23:46:33
I just pray there isn't some kind of first refusal stipulation on Courtois or Hazard for next season.

7.) 20 Jul 2017 20:04:33
manx red, you won't be a better club when mourinho ruins next season or the season after.

19 Dec 2015 13:42:48
It's official, Guus Hiddink has been appointed as the new first team manager until the end of the season. Let's hope he can repeat what he did in 2009 and secure a top-4 place for us.

KTBFFH

1.) 19 Dec 2015 18:16:36
If he makes top 4 think he might be staying for longer than the end of the season!

{Ed002's Note - That is certainly not the plan.}

2.) 19 Dec 2015 21:39:51
I'd have let Steve Holland continue until the end of the season.

3.) 20 Dec 2015 00:53:38
I guess it goes without saying Chelsea's first choice to be the next permanent manager would be Guardiola, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - You think that there is a list of the top 10 or 20 managers that the club wants and will be striking them off one by one until only one is left? The List of Adrian Messenger comes to mind.}

4.) 20 Dec 2015 16:39:12
No, I don't think that. Thanks for that though.

My question was reasonably simple: is Guardiola the first choice to be next permanent manager.

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained it does not work like that - the club have done what is necessary by persuading Guus Hiddink to come back - and that has given them the time to sensible consider what options there are available.}

5.) 20 Dec 2015 18:38:47
Ok, thanks for explaining.

Hi everyone!

I will be at the Bridge for the first time ever tomorrow, so I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a pub close by where I could get a pre/ post match pint or two?

KTBFFH

1.) 27 Oct 2023 12:27:36
Remembering the KO time and some pubs opening times I would normally recommend the following.

The Fox and Pheasant (close to the ground but usually rammed)

The Chelsea Potter. Just a nice pub

The Chelsea Ram.

I’m not sure what the opening times are but enjoy the day and the match and let’s hope for another good performance and result.

2.) 27 Oct 2023 12:45:11
You could try the Atlas, Seagrove Road about a 15 minute walk to the ground: nearest station West Brompton. They always have plenty of staff on match days and service is quick. Enjoy your beer and the game.

3.) 27 Oct 2023 14:11:49
Congratulations on your first visit. I hope it lives up to what are likely to be lofty expectations! I remember my first visit and it was absolutely incredible. I hope you managed to get some good seats!

4.) 27 Oct 2023 14:31:00
I always drink in the Mitre pub in Dawes Road as I park nearby, a 15 minute walk from the ground. Enjoy the game.

5.) 28 Oct 2023 00:31:33
Thanks for all the tips, and well wishes! Much appreciated. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a game before, so hopefully we’ll batter them!

6.) 28 Oct 2023 14:34:02
KTBFFH, sorry the result wasn’t better for your home debut.

Have a few post match.

7.) 28 Oct 2023 15:00:19
Thanks Tom! I’m not going to pretend like I’m not massively disappointed, but I’m already having my first post match pint, so hopefully I’ll feel a bit better soon.

8.) 28 Oct 2023 15:26:15
KTBFFH, at some stage I will have to go back to a wedding. I’m going to get totally off my trolly.

9.) 28 Oct 2023 15:46:07
Have fun at the wedding mate!

Bit of an unorthodox post so I hope the Eds will allow it.

In a couple of weeks I'll move to Leeds from Copenhagen for a few months due to my studies. While I know Leeds isn't exactly close to London, I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for how to get a ticket for a match at the Bridge at some point, as I have never been to a game before. Additionally, I would also gladly take advice on pubs to visit pre-game, and I would likewise be happy to meet anyone from this site.

KTBFFH

1.) 31 Aug 2023 06:19:36
God tur! :)

2.) 31 Aug 2023 09:01:45
It is extremely difficult to get hold of tickets these days without checking the ticket exchange daily, which I believe you need to be a member in order to access it. If I recall correctly a membership costs £30 and is valid for the season.

Since C.V., I haven't seen tickets reaching general sale but in fairness I don't need to wait this long to purchase so I can't say whether that is a hard and fast rule.

Tickets supposedly go on sale 42 days before the game but this isn't something that is stuck to religiously. The on-sale dates are listed on the website. In my experience you need to be in the waiting room 5 mins before tickets go on sale to have a chance of getting them and you can end up waiting in there for over an hour. The word on twitter (pinch of salt required) is that there are over 100,000 members and only 5-6000 members tickets, so that gives you an idea of how tough it can be to purchase one directly from the club.

I would have said your best bet would be the next round of the league cup, but now we have been drawn against Brighton I think it will sell out and may be allocated on loyalty points.

So I would recommend buying a membership and then checking the exchange as frequently as you can to try and nab a returned ticket. Often returns really pick up in the 3-4 days before a game is played. For example yesterday a whole load of tickets for the Forest game on Saturday became available, pretty much every stand had something.

Good luck!

3.) 31 Aug 2023 09:07:41
KTBFFH - I live 15 mins from Leeds, its a great city with so much to do, if you need any advice, drop me a message :)

4.) 01 Sep 2023 11:57:38
Can only confirm what RBD has posted re extreme difficulty for even members to get tickets and even when some come on Ticket Exchange they get snapped up or are for a different category ie Senior rather than Adult or Junior plus there are other sub-divisions

Cup games and midweek games probably best bet as RBD suggests but yes Brighton may be another loyalty point occasion and it's a situation where you need to get to games to get Loyalty points but can't get to games without them unless you are a season ticket holder. and there is a lengthy queue for this and I think getting one of those may be loyalty point connected too.

25 Aug 2023 12:42:20
Apologies to the Eds if this is deemed irrelevant.

In case you guys have not noticed yet, Mike Dean, who was the VAR responsible for the match against Spurs about a year ago, has admitted that he intentionally did not send Taylor to the screen to protect him from further grief. I don't believe that he did it to harm Chelsea in any way, however this confession does pose some implications in my opinion.

While this decision obviously cost us the win and 2 points, I think this decision may have more far reaching implications for VAR in general. I'm generally not a conspiracy theorist, but for me this does put the state of VAR in general into question. We have all seen odd decisions being made throughout the years, not just in our games but as a general problem. For me, this potentially affects the overall reliability of VAR. How many of those weird calls over the years have been intentional?

I should point out that I don't think the majority of these decision have been intentional, but regardless Dean's confession puts massive question marks over VAR.

From my point of view, VAR should be a separate entity with third-party officials involved to avoid any inherent bias.

ED001, I would love your opinion on this if you don't mind?

KTBFFH

{Ed001's Note - I have always said this would be a problem while PGMOL run it. You have refs expected to overrule someone else that they know and have to train with etc. There were always going to be issues. VAR should be in the hands of specialists. They should not have anything to do with referees and be kept separate. Their job should solely be to decide whether or not to refer refs to monitors and not actually make decisions other than offsides or if an incident was inside or outside the box etc. Matters of fact. The rest should be still down to the on field ref but with VAR there to send him to the screen to have a look again for himself. There is no need for them to talk and communicate at all. All they need is a buzzer or similar to let the ref know he needs to go to the screen. That way we won't have shady secret discussions none of us are privy to.

At the moment, even if Dean and others are making decisions like this out of empathy with the ref, it is altering the results of the game - borderline match/spot fixing.}

1.) 25 Aug 2023 15:59:01
100% ed001 . Nice read.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Wheely. I was on my soapbox there!}

2.) 25 Aug 2023 16:41:00
Putting aside what it says about Dean and refereeing in general just two things for me.

Ed’s point about match/ spot fixing is well made and surely deserves further investigation.

Also and this is a “what might have been point”, if points lost or points gained had a serious effect on the outcome on league positions what would have happened.?

We potentially had two points taken off our total, I can’t remember if that had any material effect on our league position or did the one point the spuds got have any effect on there league position?

3.) 25 Aug 2023 16:57:28
Been a fix from day 1.

4.) 25 Aug 2023 17:21:15
Thanks for the reply Ed! I fully agree with your points. I personally think a third-party panel of video analysts with full understanding of the rules would provide us with more credible and reliable decisions.

Also Tom, assuming we had won that game, it would actually have changed the final position for both us and Spurs. We would've moved ahead of Crystal Palace to finish 11th, and Spurs would've been overtaken by Brentford and finished 9th. While all this is obviously speculation, Dean's decision theoretically made a difference in terms of the final league standings.

As I said, I don't think he did it to harm Chelsea specifically, but my biggest issue with this is the lack of integrity he showed in the situation. While the refs obviously face high levels of abuse it should never be a reason for literally breaking the rules of the game!

{Ed001's Note - it also calls into question all his other decisions and non-decisions throughout his career. If he is that weak that he will do that in a video booth, where he is shielded, what kind of things were avoided while he was in the middle? I always did think his strutting peacock arrogance was to hide a lack of self-confidence. Mostly the loudest, most in-your-face people are those who are actually deeply shy in reality and hide it by pretending to be confident.}

5.) 25 Aug 2023 18:29:20
Couldn't agree more Ed! Not to mention the fact that he was very much against VAR in the first place because he, and I'm quoting here, "had refereed for 19 years, why do I need help? ". Why put someone like that in charge of VAR in the first place?

I genuinely hope that his confession will launch an investigation into VAR, however I doubt that will be the case. Regardless though, to me this is no different than if a team/ individual had attempted matchfixing, and as such I personally think that the FA should consider legal action. Especially since these kinds of intentional decisions can genuinely impact the overall league finishes like I illustrated earlier. There is a relatively significant big financial difference between finishing 12th and 11th for example.

6.) 25 Aug 2023 18:40:16
Ed001, you have made some interesting points with which I agree. Where do you think we should look to for VAR officials? Also if the communications were broadcast live between VAR and the ref like cricket and rugby, do you think that would help. You are dead right about loud and over confident people, in my career in public service, they were the ones who were generally incompetent and strangely often promoted.

{Ed001's Note - I think they should have trained up specialist VAR officials from the start. Maybe wannabe refs that fail the fitness requirements or ex-pro players. Better yet a mix of both to get the viewpoints from both sides. They would obviously require a different training from referees, so it makes no sense to use refs. You need a different skillset.

I defo agree with the communications should be heard. You only hide things when you have things in there you don't wish to be heard, which is worrying as there should be nothing in there that needs to be secret.}

7.) 25 Aug 2023 19:45:28
My post is all ifs buts and maybes but if I remember correctly TT got sent off in that game for a weird handshake with Conte. They sending off may well not have happened without the decision.

Also, I think TT got suspended for two games and we lost both of those.

We will never know but sometimes these decisions have consequences!

8.) 25 Aug 2023 21:56:29
Good point Jimbo and Ed001. In other leagues (the Australian A-League I think) they do have the comms audible on the TV broadcast at least.

The PGMOL statement on this beggars belief:

'We strongly refute any suggestions that VARs do not intervene, for whatever reason, when they have identified a clear and obvious error. '

Honestly, I can't even.

9.) 26 Aug 2023 07:33:53
Sorry guys, all good points, but why can’t we just copy rugby? Works perfectly there and it’s a way harder game to ref.

10.) 26 Aug 2023 07:49:20
To many appeals panels. haha!

07 Sep 2022 15:18:11
Hi Ed001,

I was wondering if you, with your impeccable football knowledge, could tell us what you think of Graham Potter?

KTBFFH

{Ed001's Note - absolutely brilliant coach. But, and it is a big but, he needs time for his methods to work. Look at Brighton, yes he improved them quickly, but each season they were taking a clear step forward under him. Give him a few years and I think Chelsea will be a clear title challenger as I think he is one of very few on the top rung of the head coach ladder just trying to push up to the roof with Pep and Klopp.}

1.) 07 Sep 2022 17:31:14
When we were a goal down against West Ham I did consider life without TT for the first time.

The only positive outcome I could come up with was Graham Potter.

It will be different if he comes. Having to play against packed defenses has been TT's down fall (ON the pitch at least)

2.) 07 Sep 2022 18:19:29
Awesome, thank you Ed! Your insight is second to none!

Regardless of the result I'm proud of the team. No one gave us a chance, yet we proved everyone wrong.

KTBFFH

1.) 12 Apr 2022 23:10:37
I agree.

Very proud of the team’s performance tonight but not being in the hat hurts a lot.

2.) 13 Apr 2022 04:10:03
I’m absolutely gutted but also so proud of the team and definitely optimistic about the future after that performance. Mount haters, where you at after the last two games?

Hope Villarreal can somehow win the whole thing but if not I just hope Liverpool make sure neither one of Real or City win it, can’t stand either of them.

3.) 13 Apr 2022 12:20:37
Saim, I fancy Villarreal to get to final.

4.) 14 Apr 2022 15:59:14
Not sure you’ll see this Tom but they definitely have a chance, would be silly to write them off after they knocked Bayern out! I do think that City and Liverpool are by far the best two teams right now though and to be honest we are probably the third. Premier league is clear at the moment.

I was thinking the same Emil, the ambition he has shown with Team INEOS have left a really good impression me as a cycling fan. Additionally, him saying that he's not interested in Chelsea because of profits, but rather because he wants to build a strong London club is really encouraging. Although it's probably too late, I really do hope he ends up being our new owner.

Speaking of improving the team Ed, obviously the GK position has been a matter of contention in recent seasons. I fully agree that Sanchez is simply not good enough, and I genuinely struggle to see why he is reportedly seen as having the potential to become one of the best in the world. However, although it is early days I have been very impressed with Petrovic so far, and I would love to hear your opinion on him. Likewise, if you had to recommend a GK signing, who should, in your opinion, be the long-term target? Obviously that's keeping Slonina in mind, as he does seem like a very exciting you goalie.

KTBFFH

{Ed001's Note - I have been impressed with Petrovic. He seems a good, solid goalkeeper. I haven't seen enough of Slonina yet to judge him, which makes picking a long-term target difficult, as he is supposed to be the future. Personally though, I would think sorting out the rest of the team as a higher priority right now and stick with Petrovic. As he develops he might become the right man. At worst he will be an excellent back up for a long term first choice.

As for Sanchez, maybe it is the same people who judged Onana as top class before he signed for Man Utd. In comparison to him, Sanchez does look excellent. But in no way, shape or form is he ever going to end up as one of the best in the world. Like Onana his basic goalkeeping is not good enough to provide a platform to get to the top level.}

To be honest I've been very impressed with him! I don't know why, but I had a really good feeling about him when we signed him, and so far he's proven that feeling right!

It's the most confident I've felt about a keeper since Courtois, and given his young age, we could potentially have our no.1 keeper for the next decade almost.

Couldn’t agree more Ed! I’ve literally been saying the same things to my friends, although they’re United fans so their football knowledge is obviously nonexistent, and my biggest concern in regards to recruitment is the lack of short-term vision, in the sense that, like you mentioned, we only seem to target youngsters with potential over established experienced players.

On the topic of having the wrong manager, I do agree that Poch may not be the right fit in the longer term, but I was wondering what you’d think of Conte returning for example? I know it’s probably unlikely, but I do genuinely believe that if anyone’s going to knock some discipline and leadership into our youngsters it’ll be him.

KTBFFH

{Ed001's Note - I would have said Jose would be a better fit. Conte is a bit too volatile and prone to just reacting badly and flouncing out of the club on a whim. Jose would have the fans fully behind him and he could help guide the club's leadership in the right direction.}
