Ok, the game has just finished so I wi give my pluses on the game.

Fofana, played well.

James, ok

Chilly, ok

KK, ok

So, that's all the defenders.

Teams can just sit and wait for a chance and win the game against us because we just don't look dangerous or look like scoring!

I agree Tom although Graham Potter isn’t helping the situation by constantly changing the starting 11. The team has no chemistry at all.

Sadly Tom there seems to be not tactical plan, no idea of how to set up a/ the team, no real shape, a different cast of players starting each game, little logic to nature and / or timing of subctitutions. Hopeless from set pieces. What was there to enjoy about that game, the worst we've played v Spurs literally for decades.

If t6he players confidence s were lower they are surely getting lower by the game.

Yes a bloated squaed, players to fit in, some players injured (Kante the most serious miss) . But I a can't make head or tail of what the plan is. Can you or anyone else? I am officially in despair!

JBS, I agree it’s not been good and I understand your comment on tactics but for me the biggest disappointment is our general passive display with or without the ball.

I fear I’m going to be p@ssed off when yet another
manager is given the tin tac but It’s a results business and all managers know the rules.

JBS fortunately I had commitments today and was out and about and didn’t see the game. I have been seeking clarification of the plan from the outset- don’t expect any answers. What suprises me is that anyone is surprised. GP’s biggest achievement is getting Brighton to 9th- why does anyone believe if he is given time he will become an elite coach? For the umpteenth time, won’t be watching MOTD.

Jimbo, does that mean you now want GP sacked?

6.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 18:16:39
Tom, I don’t really care anymore, as I am so fed up. I certainly didn’t want him appointed. I want this season to end and wake up and realise I’ve had a nightmare.

Jimbo, I know what you mean. We have had better seasons.

I've never called for a manager to be sacked Tom, but it's looking inevitable. His records is now considerably worse than AVB's a by a widening distance.

Perhaps GP should be given until after the Dortmund game? But I just don't see anything that is improving, does anyone? Is it all happening bhe scenes? How many times does he have to look ayers to see whether they should be part of our future or not? What's his best 11?

Perhaps he should get until after the Dortmund game, and hope he will get a morale booosting win there. Perhaps until the end of he season if no one better available.

He seems a v decent bloke, v. likeable. All on here must as I do condemn any vitriolic stuff said against him let alone vile death threats. Unspeakably unacceptable and hope the police arrest whoever sent them.

But I worry about some v good young players despairing, getting too used to losing. GP has not been tested before at this level. Perhaps hasn't had to deal with egos at this level, but that comes with the territory. So unless someone knows that he is or certainly will gradually work miracles behind the scenes that will come to fruition next season I reckon he may be gone quite soon . whether we want him to be or not. And whether rightly or wrongly I really have wanted a CFC manager who can work for the long term.

JBS, i could well end up being a lone poster on this site in wanting GP to remain as our manager.

I mentioned last week about the toxic atmosphere and some of the horrible things directed at our manager at the Southampton game.

I think in the end the owners will very sadly change direction. I will be gutted but carry on just being a supporter of our club.

{Ed018's Note - I’m with you. I hope they stick with him. This season is pretty much lost but I think GP can come good come next season. He’s had a lot to deal with}

10.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 19:27:18
JBS, I agree that the cowardly people sending abusive messages should be identified and if what was sent passes the threshold for a criminal offence they should be prosecuted. I am not sure that he received direct death threats though. Unfortunately the social media platforms allow any idiot to engage in such conduct: the genie is out of the bottle. However, we must put this in perspective: hundreds of thousands of public servants and retail workers are day in, day out, abused, threatened, spat at and assaulted and yet carry on serving the public.

11.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 19:39:40
Jimbo, I am not happy with my own behaviour at the Southampton game.

If a fan was making racist remarks, trust me, I would have reported them. For me, the things said about GP at that game were horrible but I did nothing.

I’m not happy with myself.

12.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 19:46:22
Jimbo, I’m sorry I have only just picked up on your last sentence.

I’m sure you don’t mean that because other people receive verbal abuse it’s ok?

That would be most unlike you.

13.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 21:13:04
Tom, of course not, I said let’s put things into perspective there are degrees of harm; public servants many of whom are women have to deal with face-to- face threats and abuse and worse but do not have a platform to air their concerns. GP and the club have resources to engage private investigators and the like to to to chase down the culprits. As I said it is a question of the degree of harm: what would you consider more serious: a nasty email or Glasgow Kiss?

14.) 26 Feb 2023
26 Feb 2023 22:29:06
Tom, obviously racial abuse is reprehensible and a criminal offence but depending on what was said insulting a player or coach not within their sight or hearing would not be an offence and therefore any complaint by you would probably not result in any action.

15.) 27 Feb 2023
27 Feb 2023 06:02:24
Jimbo, I understand your point but I find the examples you give as both being reprehensible.

GP doesn’t strike me as a liar so I believe him when he says he has received threats to hi person and for me that is outrageous.

It doesn’t matter that GP heard the personal abuse as it doesn’t matter if the recipient heard any racially directed abuse. I did and that’s what upsets me.

Also as I said I’m disappointed I’m my own lack of action.

16.) 27 Feb 2023
27 Feb 2023 09:00:47
Tom I wasn’t suggesting GP was lying he is reported to have said he received messages saying : “ I wish you were dead” which is different than someone saying “ I will kill you if I see you”. Both are unacceptable. As for what people are saying at the ground it depends on the level of abuse. Obviously people can be ejected if their behaviour causes distress to others. No one I go with or the people around me at the ground have any time for Potter but I have not witnessed any real abuse so far ( I am in West Stand) . TBH the mood around the club is very poor. ; a lot of supporters have no faith in the owners and as for GP, it will take a miracle for him to get the supporters on his side. Going to Chelsea feels more like a duty nowadays rather than enjoyment.

17.) 27 Feb 2023
27 Feb 2023 10:00:53
Jimbo, thanks for the clarification.

It’s hardly the biggest deal in the world if I don’t go to home games for a while but If I don’t I will be gutted. It becomes part of your life going to a match.

18.) 27 Feb 2023
27 Feb 2023 10:47:05
I disagree Tom. I thought James had one of his worst games in a Chelsea shirt and Chilwell also wasn't great. Centre backs were good for the most part considering they had no protection. 2nd goal shouldn't have counted but we still would have lost. Not getting into a discussion about it but Potter absolutely has to go now, on current form there is a genuine concern of relegation and we can't keep expecting we will magically get better.

19.) 27 Feb 2023
27 Feb 2023 12:33:25
Saim, I have been critical of James since his return particularly in the West Ham game but as I always say we all see games and player performances differently.

My son has convinced himself we will be relegated. I can’t see that happening and anyway we might win a few games in a lower division.
