I would love for the penalty kick to be cancelled all together for contact or a foul in the box (indirect free kick) unless its a yellow or red card offense as players and referees behave / react differently in the penalty box.

on that note, any rules ED001, would you like redone? others please chime in . very interested to know.

{Ed001's Note - I would like to change it so any dives are given a yellow card automatically, with retrospective action as well. The officials should be made to go back through games afterwards, along with club officials from the teams, to look at every incident and start awarding cards retrospectively for all infringements, but particularly play-acting/diving. If they crack down on it, players will stop doing it and then the game will be much easier for the officials to judge at the time. But they have to start taking control of it first for that to happen, no matter how many bans need to be given.}

I agree about diving it is one of the most infuriating things in football. One minor issue: foul throws- either enforce the rule or scrap it.

{Ed001's Note - good point, it is infuriating that a professional footballer can reach that level and be unable to take a throw in and yet more of the throws are foul throws than legal!}

I agree with the above posts.

I would like to see more subs on the bench. That isn’t to say I want more subs used, it would just give teams a bigger choice and maybe some more mins for some youngsters if the circumstance permits.

I would also like to see the game played for an accurate 90mins.

I would ban substitutions after 85 minutes - bringing on subs to break up play and / or waste time is against the spirit of the law.

Also, difficult to do and define, but I would bring back the notion of 'Ungentlemenly Conduct' in some form.

To the point of throw-ins and freekicks . the spot where the ball goes out has to be where the freekick is taken (no advantage to any team) . else it has to go backwards (no forward passes) . we tried this in our sunday games and works well.

then for freekicks . the 5 seconds rule where you CAN take it within 5 seconds else you wait for the ref to blow the whistle.

ED001, great point on being given cards retrospetively for simulation.

Referees let the game flow in the Euro's, not giving fouls when players flung themselves to the floor from minimal contact. Consistent refereeing like that is needed to help stop diving.

Blocking/ putting the hand on the ball to stop quick free kicks as an automatic red card. So often players get away with it, especially after cynical fouls.

I've always thought they should give out retrospective punishments for diving that would embarrass the player.

Something like make them stand in the centre circle at the next away game for 3 mins before the game, and they have to have their hands on their head whilst someone pulls down their shorts and pants. I bet that would stop diving.

Don’t think that would be acceptable in Women’s football.

Something needs to stop the diving. Absolute embarrassment of the sport.
