I recall you mentioning Lavezzi's agent has been talking to several teams about him moving on from PSG, ourselves included. What is Chelsea's current interest in the player, are they interested at all? And do you think anything could materialise, not just for us, but any potential suitor?

Devon.

{Ed002's Note - There is some interest in Lavezzi from Chelsea, Milan and Napoli - and it is expected that Zenit may well look to the player again. His representative visited London and spoke with Arsenal and Chelsea in March. There is certainly interest from Chelsea interest but the agent is simply looking for options. Napoli would take him back but wages would be an issue.}

Don't want to just throw names out there but apparently Chelsea and Arsenal along with a few other European clubs are interested in Victor Andrade, any truth in it?

Devon.

Do Chelsea hold an interest in Mehdi Benatia by any chance?

Devon.

I've heard that Kevin De Bruyne may be sold to a German team, is there any truth in this? {Ed002's Note - There is interest in him.}

Devon.

1.) Do you think Chelsea would consider selling him though? {Ed002's Note - He will come back in the summer to be assessed with most of teh others. If he wants to move and a suitable offer is made the club will not stand in his way.}

2.) Werder Bremen want to keep him but can't afford to buy him so they want another loan which would be pointless in my opinion as I rate KDB good enough for the squad next season. Leverkusen also have in interest in him perhaps as a replacement for Schuerrle in case he moves to us. Would be sad to see a p/ex done though, KDB needs to be at the club next season! Also heard of interest from Wolfsburg, they've got the money but I don't think KDB wants to move there.

Cheers

3.) KDB 21st in the list of most creative players in europe. he's ready! {Ed018's Note - I really hope we do not sell him. Should've sent Marin out on loan and kept De Bruyne at Chelsea. Would've contributed much more in my opinion}

Ed, what do you know of Neilton and Chelsea's interest in him? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea approached Santos about Neilton before Christmas and there is interest from Porto, Braga and no doubt others. I don't know if the enquiry led anywhere.}

I know nobody likes talking about true valuations of players and don't call me a scum, but I was having an argument with a mate about what Oscar would be worth in today's day and age and what he would sell for? I was looking closer at the 35million+ mark whilst my friend wouldn't say any more than 25million. What do you guys think? Again this is just on face value and a superficial level

Devon.

{Ed018's Note - 35+}

If sterlings is apparently worth 50 then so is Oscar

Reading through this page, I'm seeing sometimes people are of the mindset we should just sell a player based on current play, the likes of Oscar and Willian come to mind. I know Chelsea are a world class team and that we are constantly linked with world class players, that could 'displace' players who may make a mistake or two. I do also acknowledge there are fans who appreciate and stick up for these players, but then there are people who fail to realise that they haven't even hit their prime. Oscar is still very young and Willian is only 26, exceptional talents that will only improve. what's to say we should sell these players and see them thrive element with maturity and experience. Matic comes to mind in recent history, hardly a look in on the field, and Robben probably highlighting this even more. Yes we want to build the best team possible, that's fantasy football for you, but realistically the long term is what we should be looking at. It's just a shame sometimes about our loan policies and the reality that most young talent just won't cut it. but that's a different matter altogether

Devon.

1.) Regarding Willian, let's not forget that Drogba was inconsistent when he first came to the Bridge - his first season was full of failures to control the ball and his link-up play was not the best. Look what he became

2.) Good post. As fans we seem to think we know more about football than the club do, which is entirely wrong. (Whereas Liverpool fans on there page have more clue about it than Rodgers and them clowns have).

We are in a fantastic position, I've said it a lot, we have stunning coaches, manager and owner, as well as a top 3 team worldwide in my opinion

It is fun to speculate though, and any opinions should be posted before being shot down by people thinking the poster is moaning ect

3.) My point as well Aron, yes it's nice to think that things work in a fantasy football style and we have to admit quite a few of these become reality. But we are far from experts with somewhat a limited knoweldge, with no real affiliation to the club other than being fans and research of news stories and rumours. This website is the best thing we have, for that I am glad, but let appreciate what we have and the talent across the whole club.

4.) I believe when Matic left he was more of an AM. A position we had an abundance of current stars, Mata, Hazard, Oscar etc and lots of upcoming talent on loan. He only made the switch to CM/DM after 6 months or so, I think, at Benfica. If he hadn't moved on I doubt he'd have made the switch of positions and he wouldn't be the player we have today. So yes while a lot of poeple/pundits look at it and can't believe we let him go, he simply wasn't anywhere near the player we let go in the first place.

But I do see your point though.

I am very guilty of this especially about Oscar. That said I think much of my though goes down to two things; balancing the books and player expectations. It's very clear that the club will be balancing the books and if we're bringing in high price players then we have to get the money from somewhere. The second part is player preferences which is something I speculate on but have absolutely no idea in reality. For me I question wether Oscar would settle for not being an automatic selection when he can go to another top 10 club in the world like PSG and be a regular. So for me I think this is kind of adding 1&1 to get 2 but as others have said my perception could be very off.

It seems one by one, the number of available world class strikers available is diminishing, lost out on falcao, cavani to PSG, lewandowski is adamant on bayern, it doesn't give us much choice left, other than perhaps yilmaz, who although I do rate as a player, don't see in a Chelsea shirt and hulk, who I wouldn't want in a Chelsea shirt seeing his play more recently. What options are there left for Chelsea other than sticking with who we have or moving for an average striker who we really don't need right now. Hopefully TSO ha something up his sleeve.

Devon.

1.) Maybe instead of paying big money, we should go scout the next big south American star.

2.) Edin Dzeko will do it for us

3.) Yilmaz, Jackson Martinez or Ibrahimovic are all quality strikers still likely to move this summer.

So both Di Maria and Sanchez are most likely to leave their respective clubs in the near future, my question is, who would you rather have at Chelsea? Not saying that either will or should come and forget the matter of who would they displace, who'd be your choice?

Devon.

1.) No question Di Maria. Sanchez isn't good enough for Barca and Di Maria is an automatic selection for Jose every week.

2.) I think Sanchez. Think he would do better in prem. Di Maria good but light weight and loves a dive

3.) Sanchez faces a lot more competition than di Maria. That being said its hard because you don't know wether you'll get the udinese or Barcelona version of Sanchez.

Tk

4.) 23 Feb 2013 09:19:43
Di Maria all day long, I think he is technically a better footballer, passer and finisher. Sanchez has pace and that is about it from what I've seen. In the last Copa America everything ran through Di Maria for Argentina which considering their talent says a lot about how highly they rate him.

PB1989

5.) Di Maria for me. Better alround player, Sanchez relys only on pace and footwork

6.) If di maria started every week why is he being touted throughout europe. surely you keep your best players when your a top team like real.

dave

7.) Jose Mourinho top 3 managers in the world why is he leaving Real Madrid, Robben with Chelsea, Van Persie with Arsenal, times change people and teams move on

8.) Sanchez as he's stronger and can also play upfront

9.) Interesting responses, I would have said Di Maria myself, I think he is more of an all round player, it was just his physique that I questioned, but then again look at Oscar, not the biggest of players but he seems to bully players off the ball quite easily sometimes

10.) Hands Down DI MARIA!

11.) Sanchez

What I've realized recently, Torres has the mindset of a natural striker, he has the predatory instinct too, you can see that with some of the positions he gets himself into. However, his brain does not at all coordinate with his feet, it's as if the message conveyed gets lost in translation. I mean we can see that he can head the ball pretty well, but he can't score through his own work. If you think about his goals this season, it usually comes from just making a connection with the ball, not really through trickery or a dribble. If you saw the game against Sparta Prague, it was clearly evident, he took up good positions, but looked like he had both his shoelaces tied together. Just wondered if any of you agree.

How is he at all what we need? He isn't a striker, cdm, or centreback.

He is what I'd very much call a premier league player, and not because he plays in the pl, he may have some pace and a bit of trickery, but essentially strong and an eye for goal. He's a good player and plays his part for Chelsea, but he could be better, and maybe it's just me, but kind of suits the Liverpool kind of player if you know what I mean. Not an insult, he would just suit your style of play. So ye he's good, but can be a tad greedy on the ball sometimes is, but what attacking midfielder isn't nowadays? And his cross isn't always the greatest, but if he did move on, I could see him come back to haunt us.

When I saw Essien in preseason, he clearly new how to control his patch, I wouldn't mind seeing him getting more than a handful of games in the premier league.

Two of them not actually new signings but Schurrle has impressed, good cross on him and an eye for goal, doesn't mind running with the ball a bit, which hasn't been too much of a problem in preseason but we'll have to see how that fairs in the premier league. Lukaku is obviously a presence, good target man up front and scores the goals, nothing too spectacular though, however I think sometimes his touch can let him down in build up and a loose pass every now and then, but I can see him reaching drowns standard in his prime, even better. De bruyne is quite the player, has good vision, an eye for goal, plays all the right passes, can't really fault him, other than maybe a lack of pace on the wing, but that's not exactly a players nightmare. Van ginkel also, although not playing his natural position, has taken up his new role quite well, an improvement on mikel anyway, but he can sometimes be a little over aggressive in his tackling, but that you'd expect from time to time.
