Very disappointed to realise CFC were one of the clubs to agree to the Transfer Window being shut three weeks before the rest of Europe. I believe this will mean English clubs paying over the odds for players who otherwise might be tempted to wait until the rest of Europe closes. What do you guys think about this?

Stupid decision.

2.) 09 Sep 2017 11:44:27
I love Conte's response as regards this issue.
I also like it when our transfer businesses are concluded on time (on or before the club's preseason tour) .

3.) 09 Sep 2017 16:37:44
Great idea, I'd only be worried being a selling club. Forces club to identify targets and act quicker,

A question for you guys out there. During the Carabao Final, an excellent through-ball left Eden Hazard one-on-one with the City keeper, a situation which usually ends up with the ball in the back of the net. Unfortunately, as we are all aware, the idiot linesman raised his flag for offside (which he is not supposed to do when VAR is in operation) . Had play continued, we should have gone 1-0 up and could have 'done a Tottenham' on City and held them off for a deserved victory and meaning the whole Kepa saga would have been avoided. My question is this: Even though the idiot with the flag signalled for offside, should not the ref have ignored this until the play had ended and then referred to VAR for the offside decision?

Dempsey

{Ed002's Note - Yes he should.}

1.) 28 Feb 2019 11:18:39
Many thanks, Ed002.

2.) 28 Feb 2019 12:25:17
As Sarri mentioned before it took some time getting used to in SerieA aswell so it will take some time in the EPl also. Just gutted but with time i think it will all come good. Might slow down the pace a bit but if the ref does what he is suppose to then i think the game could still flow good. In rugby they have mastered the TV replay and it works perfect. I think with time it will all work out.

3.) 28 Feb 2019 15:20:26
I think seeing the flag would’ve put hazard off too, I don’t quite remember but he definitely didn’t run through and finish the chance, he just stopped.

4.) 01 Mar 2019 09:27:19
Funny - if it wasn't for Kepa's antics, I think the press would have made a lot more of the two officials potentially costing The Blues the final.

One for all you clever guys out there (although not CFC related) : Looking at the results for the Scottish Challenge Cup, what are all the Welsh and Irish clubs doing in it, and what the heck are Boreham Wood and Sutton United doing there?

Ok lads - seems we've missed out again. Golovin on his way to Monaco.

Dempsey

1.) 25 Jul 2018 21:16:24
seen that also typical Chelsea in recent years can't sign players and won't give what we got a chance I. e salah and de bryune club has really lost its way in my eyes.

2.) 25 Jul 2018 21:18:18
It would've been nice to have him join us but maybe we are targeting other players. Linked with Pogba, Savic and Thiago (can't see any happening) but they're all top players! Besides, we have Barkley and RLC who deserve a chance with us this season.

3.) 25 Jul 2018 21:22:12
No one had heard of him b4 world cup
He had a few average games in WC against very average opposition jorginho fabregas kante Barkley rlc ampadu are all better players
Makes me laugh to say we missed out on a player six weeks ago noone as ever heard of.

4.) 25 Jul 2018 22:22:54
I’d rather us go for that tielmenans of Monaco.

5.) 25 Jul 2018 22:56:06
u hit the nail on the head loko golovin is rubbish.

6.) 26 Jul 2018 00:22:47
There was a lot of talk he may have gone straight out on loan. No big loss.

7.) 26 Jul 2018 11:12:26
"typical Chelsea in recent years can't sign players and won't give what we got a chance I. e salah and de bryune club has really lost its way in my eyes. "

What do you want them to do then? I said it yesterday, Chelsea are basically a new side under Sarri. Nobody knows what he's going to do with what's already at the club.

Perhaps, Sarri veto'd the Golovin deal in favour of Barkley/ RLC/ Baka/ Odoi?

Basically, we can't have it both ways. We can't buy players AND give what's already there a chance.

8.) 26 Jul 2018 11:55:58
We linked to Thiago Pogba and Savic, I would love Savic or any of them and we should be pushing for one of them. Not settling for Fabregas or Barkley. I’m sorry but it’s true.

Ok guys, let's take a breather from Sarri (will he, won't he) and all transfer rumours.
Today's question is - Makalele or Kante - compare.

Dempsey

1.) 02 Jul 2018 00:30:46
Makelele defines the role that’s why it’s called the Makelele role. Kante has a much better rounded game. I personally would go with Kante as he’s one of the most important players to a team I have ever seen and the amount of ground he covers is unbelievable.

Sorry, not CFC related, but could someone please explain the basics of when a player retreats from an offside position, when does he then become onside? I'm thining about Ronaldo's 2nd goal when he was half a mile offside but came back 'on' to continue the move and score.

Dempsey

1.) 17 Jun 2018 06:36:11
Once back in an onside position you can become legally active for another phase of play, such as another pass or cross. I think that's basically it.

2.) 17 Jun 2018 11:21:25
I think once in an onside position (from an offside position), u have to stay some seconds again before you can become legal again to get the ball. I am not sure but I think its between 3-5 seconds.

3.) 17 Jun 2018 12:46:42
Thanks to you both.

4.) 18 Jun 2018 00:35:52
If someone thinks that I am wrong, please correct me.

When talking about a 'lack of leader', can someone answer why David Luiz is never mentioned as a possible. Yes, he can be a bit hot-headed, but he is passionate, committed and, unlike Azpi, is not afraid to voice his concerns on the pitch.

The problem with Sarri is his reliance on ageing and underperforming players. CHO for Willian/ Pedro, Ampadu for Jorghino, Christensen for Luiz, Emerson for Alonso, even (next season) Reece James for Azpilicueta. If Tammy wasn't already one of our players, we'd be handing Villa £30million for him. The young lads might make mistakes, but give them some Premiership experience (and by that, I mean a good run - not coming on as a 70th minute sub), and we'll have a heck of a team next year. And for goodness sake, don't come out with 'they're not Sarri's type of players' - is Sarri an English Premiership type of manager?

obinna 123. Why talk about Kovacic as a defensive mid when we've already got possibly Europe's best stuck out on the right of an attacking midfield?

Ed001 - Why the surprise at our treatment? FIFA and UEFA have always sucked up to 'old money' (Juve, Barca, Real etc) and done everything they can to help them (what else was FFP for? ) . 'New money' (e. g. Man City, Chelsea) can go whistle as for as the Powers-that-be are concerned.

Dempsey

{Ed001's Note - Man City and PSG don't get the same treatment, they have been very leniently dealt with. It is nothing to do with old or new money.}

I'd prefer Donald Duck to Jorginho in any position. His passes, apart from the easy side-to-side ones, are nearly always overhit and IMO he brings nothing to the team in an attacking sense.

It's time to put the best defensive midfielder back in his natural position. I also reckon that if Hazard is asked to play as a false nine for much longer, he will welcome any Real Madrid bid with open arms and he will be off. Some posters are excusing Sarri by saying that he hasn't had time to bring his own choices in - if Jorghino is an example of his choices, then I don't hold out much hope for any improvement.
