I think we must be honest with our selfs. The spending this club has made has been an enormous and tragic mistake. The club has spent 1 billion. And we are not better. The club has made a colossal mistake. I don't think Boehly knows what he's doing. I think he's been advised very poorly. I think we must be honest with ourselves and not be positive for positive sake.

90m on mudryk was a very very poor signing. 1/ 10
115 on Caicedo was a very poor signing due to the fee. 4/ 10
Lavia was not needed. 3/ 10
Sanchez and petrovic are both worse than kepa. 40m for two keepers worse than one we sent away for 1m. 0.5/ 10
Disasi is worse than chalobah. 1/ 10
The spending has been utterly abysmal and I'm sorry I can not stand here and say anything other than honesty. We have blown a billion and we look a worse team than under Thomas Tichel. Time for Boehly to go.

Any fan/ poster can have an opinion and I personally welcome all views and I live a debate.

Our new owners have taken on the long overdue player rebuild of our club, not every player they have signed will be a success but that is the same at every club.

I’m happy with the vast majority of our signings and I’m also happy to have said goodbye to certain players.

The time to make a judgement on lots of issues will be at the end of the season not after the debacle of last season and two games of this.

Just one more point, I came out of the ground after the Liverpool game feeling very pleased with our performance but just as importantly thoroughly entertained. This hasn’t been the case for nearly two years at the bridge.

I thank you Tom. for being able to discuss something if you even disagree it.

We did do a big rebuild. However the rebuild we did was unsuccessful. We have spent 1 billion pounds. With that we are still missing a goalkeeper a striker and a right winger. How is this possible.

We could have made smarter signings. Declan rice instead of caicedo and lavia. We could have signed maignan or another good keeper for 70 instead of cucurella, petrovic and Sanchez. We could have signed a good striker instead of mudrik, ugochukwu and disasi.

I do not understand what the plan has been. Half of these player we have signed will never see first time football. We also sold hall who is better than cucurella but because he didn't cost us 63 million pounds cucurella gets to stay.

Would like to know what the very knowledgeable eds think about it Ll.

I think Hall will prove to be a mistake but mistakes happen in all clubs. We are certainly not alone on that front.

The players we have signed are almost all young in footers and we will have to wait and see how they progress for seasons to come judging the majority of them on two games int a season is bizarre.

Little point in making comparisons to players we might have signed and drawing comparisons. Rice would have been one of my top choices but he chose to go elsewhere, these things happen.

Given the rebuild and the initial mistakes made, apparently from poor advice, I think the rebuild has been remarkably well handled.

A little bit like the term term FFP the amount we have spent so in recent windows will be “weaponised” against us. It obviously doesn’t suit you or others to quote NETT spend or just to consider the rebuild as an investment.

I am a Chelsea supporter who admits to having the occasional biased opinion but I do NOT have an agenda.

Tom. I agree far too early to make judgements and sweeping statements about our transfers but I am confident that Caicedo and Lavia will be big players for us for seasons to come. I do agree, however, that we have fudged the goalkeeping issue we should have spent money on a top class keeper. Sanchez is a no 2 at best.

Jimbo. Sanchez can be judged over the season and we can also surely reserve judgement on a keeper we haven’t even seen play for us yet. He could well prove to be brilliant and a bargain.

I can so no advantage in rushing to judge. It seems to be a common theme with society these days!

I’m not rushing to judgement, Sanchez is not new to the PL, he is what he is. He isn’t going to turn into a top class keeper just because we bought him.

I believe that once we have all players back from injury and the team gels, we have the best young squad in the premiership that will service us well for a few years to come.

I totally get the sentiments of the poster who started this thread. Declan Rice (for instance) strode head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch the other night, an absolute lion, I don’t think I seen one Palace player get past or round him. Our lad who is £5-10m more expensive, looked like a U-16 coming onto the pitch and then made mistake after mistake he was horrendous. What further worries me was I can’t help but think that If he had made the move to Liverpool he would have had such a stinker in his fist game. Poxh should probably not have made the sub, but he is the most expensive player in English football, so I can’t really lay that at the managers door. Re Hall? Once again it is a YA player that gets chased whilst the fans have to tolerate £60m players who are just not up to it. Re Kepa? the club are well rid, Mendy apart, who we equally wretched, I do not have one issue with whoever goes in the goal, it has NEVER crossed my mind that “I wish” Kepa was in goal when Chelsea line up. He was absolutely awful. All that said. I agree with TomB, the football is good. Two areas that I think need addressing though, need to start and finish games better.

I had zero interest in us signing Lukaku but as soon as he became a Chelsea player I supported him and judged him on his Chelsea performances.

Sanchez has had two games for us and done nothing wrong plus he looks useful with the ball at his feet.

He will obviously make mistakes as all players do and that will bring out the “I told you so” brigade.

I was also never a fan of Rudi but I have to admit his last season’s performances deserved credit and praise and that’s what I gave him. I left my agenda/ biased opinions behind and judged him on his performance for the club.

I'm confused by why people think Declan Rice would've accepted a move to Chelsea? This isn't FIFA or Football Manager. People have free will. There's a really good article in the Athletic today that looks at why it takes more than money to seal a big transfer. Worth a read.

Caicedo hasn't played for ages, hasn't trained. Yes, it wasn't a good debut, but these things happen. Was he brilliant for Brighton last year? Yes, he was.

FD1977 the wonderful editors have told us many times that chelsea didn't even attempt to go for declan rice I think I recall them saying he'd go back to chelsea if given the choice but for whatever reason we went for an unproven 21 year old instead.

Tom, obviously views differ but I do not agree that Sanchez is good with his feet, he passed the ball to a Liverpool player in first game and should have got something on the ball for their goal. Stephen it has crossed my mind that I wish Cech it Courtois was in goal.

We all see game’s differently but he had no chance with the scouser goal and his distribution so far has generally been excellent. Two footed and that surprised me!

As I’ve said he will be no different from any other player in that he will make mistakes but not so far.

I had no desire to be proved right about Lukaku. I wanted him to succeed and I supported him while he played for our club. I desperately wanted to be proved wrong.

Why is Caicedo “unproven”? Maybe he wasn’t excellent last season maybe the scousers and others didn’t want to sign?

Two games into a season and 30mins of play by the above mentioned player and it’s all gloom.

I suppose we now have a first for this season. We have a poster/ fan who wants our owners out already.

Tom, once again we have to agree to disagree; at least we have nailed our colours to the mast. I enjoy a good debate. I have always believed that to compete at the highest level a team needs a top class striker and goalie. I hoped that we would have filled one of these positions but I accept that these are the two most difficult areas to recruit. As for keepers, we were fortunate enough in recent years to have Cech and Courtois and since then the recruitment has been disappointing. I was surprised that we didn’t consider Raya as our first choice keeper; he is a very good keeper with no real weaknesses.

Lots of people didn’t think Cech would be first choice in his first season given how Carlo had been performing and Courtois went on loan before he became first choice.

FGS give these players a reasonable chance.

Tom not sure how Cech and Courtois relate to Sanchez; they were both world class keepers. My recollection was that is was clear that Cech was brought in to replace cuducini as first choice. Courtois did go on loan but it was always than plan that he would succeed Cech as No1.

It was NOT a given that Big Pete would take over from Carlo as No1. In fact Jose let the debate play out in the media. I was shocked when Jose made his choice as Carlo was very good for us.

Of course it was hoped that Courtois would become our No1 but he was NOT when he originally signed and and went on loan for game time. It was only after that loan did he come back as our No1.

Tom, accusing people of negatively is an old chestnut to respond to issues. I am simply expressing the opinion that Sanchez is not of the quality to take us forward in a position that I consider to be important- you are entitled to disagree- just because you do doesn’t make my opinion negative. It is highly unlikely that we will lose to Luton: if we do it probably won’t be down to him as I don’t expect he will have much to do.

I love differing opinions and the debate that follows but I find a debate about a player who has only played two games for us and done nothing wrong rather debilitating.

Jimbo, of course it is “evidence” if the vast majority of posts from an individual are broadly negative then the general views of that person on that topic must be construed as negative.

Likewise if someone is so locked into a solid view I think the adjective “agenda” can readily be described as an agenda.
