Not at the match tonight.

We have not played well in the first 45mins. Moving the ball far to slowly against a well organised side.

Mount has had a first 45mins to forget. Kovacic looks like the only player likely to open them up.

Also Christensen has become a solid, top class defender.

I would bring on Werner and Havertz on for Ziyech and Mount. I'm also not sure we need three at the back.

Thank goodness for Rom. It’s great to have a striker who can get you out of trouble when we are playing badly. Mount has been poor all season. Reece is also very inconsistent. Christensen and Rudiger were good tonight. We need to step in up against Spurs.

In the Euro finals the Italians worked out how to stop Mount and I said at the time that managers would take note of that.
He will now have to work extra hard to improve his game but he is a bright lad and I’m sure he will.

Yes Tom let’s hope Mason can get back to form because as an attacking midfielder he needs to do more: he hasn’t got a lot of goals in him.

Seriously? You guys:girls watched that game last night and singled out Mason’s performance! Wow.
I thot defensively Zenit were excellent and in possession very slick. Their combinations were sharp and often had up to 4 players involved to get them out of situations. In the final third they were poor. During the game I commented to my son that surely this is the best that Zenit can play and they did have the two best chances of the game. (goal apart, which was brilliant by Rom) As for Chelsea, Ziyech was awful again. The defence and GK were good. Kova was bright, MM was no worse than Alonso or Jorginho, who was towing his caravan around the pitch, he usually keeps that for PL duty. In fact for the late miss by Xenit Jorginho was stuck in the mud it was embarrassing. If that is Xenit’s level then as far as I am concerned 1-0 is fine, no issues. But anyone wanting MM off the pitch needs medical help. ? funny old game as someone once said.

As some posters know I’m a massive Mount fan but I will always call it as I see it. He was poor in the first 45mins but better in the second 45mins especially when Havertz came on.

Kovacic was my MOM followed by Christensen and Rudiger.

Jorginho was ok, a comment that applies to one or two other players.

Mount was shocking in the first half without doubt.
Kovacic was the pick followed closely by AC and Rudi.
A lot of players played OK including Jorghi/ Alonso/ Reece/ Azpi
The poorest performance over 60 mins was Ziyech with Mason improving 2nd half.
Lots to work on and improve but I was impressed with Zenit who were a tough nut to crack.
In games like these we need our creative players to be in top form which they weren't.
Thank goodness we have Rom this season.

Was at the game and MM didn't do much first half other than what he does, works really hard, chases tirelessly. Ziyech contributed less.

Interesting how being there and watching on TV give different opinions, thought Rudiger was MOM, got us out of trouble a couple of times and marshalled well. Mate who watched on TV said Kova.
