What does everyone think about our striker situation next season? Should Bamford take Drogba's spot, should we bring someone in or give Boga/Solanke 3rd choice.

IMO, if Middlesbrough get promoted and Karanka wants to loan Bamford again, we should let him. As 3rd choice and still quite raw he'd probably only get 500-800mins or so, most of which will be 10 minute cameos off the bench. Whereas at Middlesbrough he'll probably get close to double that, and he could do a sort of Lukaku at WB.

Buying another striker though would likely push back any real chance of Bamford making the squad for the next few seasons.

So I'd probably give the 3rd spot to Boga/Solanke as I doubt, barring serious injury problems, they'd need to play in any big games. Plus even if both Costa and Remy were injured at the same time, our midfielders are all capable of helping out with goals should Boga/Solanke prove to be too raw.

But what does everyone else think? Should we bring someone in? If so who? Ed018, what do you think? =]

{Ed018's Note - I really haven't given it much thought to be honest}

I'm all about promoting youth. With that said Remy and Costa aren't the best about staying out of the treatment room. For me I'd just hate to buy another striker to congest the position when Bamford and solanke are ready. Worst case scenario schurrle is capable of filling in here and there.

I posted something similar a few weeks back to what i'm saying now.

Unless a world class or potentially world class player becomes available I believe we have the squad and youth set up to self manage for the next couple of seasons.

Boga, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Solanke, Ake. Give these guys squad places next year, they have all shown massive potential and have been playing in the Chelsea system for a number of years and have been around this culture which I feel is very important (Philosophy, 433 system, training ground etc)

We have some very good players on loan also such as Piazon etc

If Pogba is available or Sterling then fine pay the money asap HG and potentially world class if not I personally don't want anymore squad fillers for a couple of million such as Salah or Romeu.

Just my opinion.

Don't want sterling one bit him and barkley are very over-rated.

Its not involve to the topic but i'm getting nervous now. We get tough opponents in next round in 2 race. PSG for CL and Liverpool for Capital One. I still remember how we was dominated by PSG and it was a nightmare to me. However, this year we got real upgrades when they just could take a freestyle defender from us. Liverpool match will not be as easy as the last one when Sturridge is training hard for the comeback.

Barkley isn't overrated, his price is inflated due to the fact that he is English. That's all.

Agree with PB1989 on this one, unless we can get someone world class or a bargain comes up or we need to replace departing squad members I think we should use this amazing youth system of ours.

I'm not sold on Sterling however, he seems to be evolving from a winger (what we need) to more of a central player.

Someone mentioned Thorgan Hazard and it would be interesting to see him get a chance or Piazon. I think CB and CM is where most likely additions will be needed in the coming seasons and RW and Drogba (possibly retiring) is something I think needs looked at. Ah well, exciting times!!

Ivanovic, Zouma, Ake to cover for azpi, Cahill, JT and filipe Luis. Mikel, Ramires, Loftus-Cheek to cover for fabregas and Matic. Schurrle, Boga, and Baker, to cover for Willian, Oscar and Hazard. Remy and Solanke to cover for Costa. Remy can also play on the wing. I would like to upgrade our RW position though, I would possibly sell Schurrle and bring in Cuadrado who is a great work rate but also more deadly infront of goal and he's a great dribbler who runs at defenders.

Barkley is the only one I'd spend big on - he has the potential to be world class. Or Pogba but I don't think that's possible.

The cuadrado requests surprise me. He had a good World Cup and does provide width but he's been incredibly disappointing with Fiorentina so far this year. I understand Reus but not too many others. And if all you want is someone that provides width I imagine Jose would be more than able to drill that into their head so I'm not sure a new player would bring that change.

Cuadrado doesn't play as much because he doesn't get on with Montella that's why! Why Reus? He's quality but he's injury prone.

People we have to many of right winger midfielders already. We need left footed left winger midfielder.
Hazard right footed, Willian rf,Schurrle rf,Ramires rf,Oscar who can also cover right side rf.
Salah is the only left footed winger midfielder that we have.

13.) 20 Dec 2014
I think Hazard is undroppable on the left. But fair enough point buddy

14.) 21 Dec 2014
Reus is not injury prone. Before his big injury last year I don't think he had an almost perfect health record.
He's had a couple of big injuries in quick succession but he's not injury prone.

Aron Hazards natural position is central attacking midfielder not the winger. To much competition in our squad on that position Fabregas, Oscar&Hazard.
If you watch closely Hazard is far better right winger.
