Jose signs new deal best signing this transfer window world wide

Agreed. His impact can't be underestimated. How many signings come in saying I wanted to work with Jose. He makes our club immensly more marketable and this doesn't even consider his coaching abilities.

With the current situation among our attacking mids I'm personally of the opinion that Traore would gain more from going on loan than to stay in the squad at the moment. For starters we have Hazard, Oscar, WIllian, Cuadrado, and Moses. On top of that Fabregas plays quite a bit as the #10 and Loic Remy is also capable of playing on the wing. When Jose arrived we had 6 guys for the 3 positions and by January we were down to 4. I think 5 is the perfect number and Hazard, Oscar, and Willian pick themselves. Beyond that Moses is more advanced than Traore with his good loan at Stoke and this is the year where he either rises to the level or finds a better fit. Also with Cuadrado I don't see any gain from loaning him as that won't answer whether he's an option for us and we'd be better off giving him until January to prove himself or move him. While he could learn a lot from training and the odd game I think he could gain more by a loan to a club such as Marseille where he was linked earlier in the year.

I think traore would benefit playing & training with hazard, Willian etc, got very high hopes for loftus cheek this year

Re: a comment yesterday and Marco Reus and why the deal never went through swapping with Schurrle. The reason it fell through was stated to be for non-footballing reasons. These being driving offences and I doubt we would go back for him now.

Driving offences. He would have had to murdered someone for that to be reasonable. We now have cuadrado instead!

I was in Germany at the time. it was driving without a licence all his life and was fined £500,000 (read that again)which was reputedly paid by his club; that was in December 2014. End of story so you would think but by January 2015 they were on to him again because he continued and by my colleagues last rip to Germany they were still investigating him in June of this year. One assumes that it will not be a fine this time if guilty. As you say, we were fined £26m for taking Cuadrado.

Looking forward to the start of the season although I believe we are a bit weak to be honest I hope we buy a midfielder or I feel again fab will burn out

According to Marca, Chelsea made a bid of 65 mil Euro for Koke ( 5mil higher than his release clause). However, Diego Simeone persuaded him to stay at the club.

What a shame! He is the perfect player that can help us to control the midfield.

Gotze is apparently available , would love to see him at Chelsea, another player we need

07 Aug 2015 18:23:54
Yeah. Me too. Wow! U really have same view with me in this one.

Gotze is not only can play in the centre but also the wings.

But not only Bayern never sell their player in good ages but also Pep hates Mou.

Koke wouldve been the perfect signing for us! Shame that most of our targets this year have been pretty much impossible. Imagine if we had signed Pogba/Koke, Varane and Griezmann!

A player we need yes I agree for sure but he seems lazy I don't think he would fit into the mourinho philosophy to be honest

Disagree about gotze who to me is in the same spot as Oscar. Very high ceiling but has only shown ability in glimpses and lacks consistency. To go even further with the comparison they are both probably in their last season where their respective clubs will put up with it before buying over them. They both have a massive season ahead.

Respect for Koke if it's true. He stayed loyal to the club where he became a star. So props to him for saying no to probably a significant wage increase.
There's always next year and this shows that the club obviously tried to bring in top class players. For those who had their doubts.

We need someone who will be direct for once. Through pre season our attacking midfielders have been more interested about passing out to the wings all the time. It's not always a bad thing but when you have Falcao who's movement is insane, making all these runs yet they prefer to pass wide is very frustrating, one of many reasons we haven't scored last few games.

Whether that is gotze or not, we need someone like him to challenge the normal 11. Or they will think there position is secure in the starting 11. Look at Willian he was alright, cuadardo came in an he stepped up his game an now is arguably one of stand out players.

Don't agree Willian is a stand out player he offers zero going forward and never scores so don't see what improvement u talk about other than he breaks his back every game defending which is fine but he's a winger

I agree he doesn't score, it's something he needs to improve, but his work rate is crazy and he drives forward

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2015 23:44:03
His work rate is second to none I don't think he's much good going forward to be honest he doesn't take on the full backs enough for someone who has blistering pace he's a disappointment going forward to be honest I still love him do for his work rate alone I just don't ever see the current squad winning in Europe and believe wel face a huge battle to keep our pl

Willian was one of our most important players last year and most consistent performers.

Agreed, I think without signing another attacking mid who can score and and get a good amount of assists I think Europe is just out of our reach, I'm not positive but I'm optimistic about us retaining the league, we shall see. Let the stress begin

I wouldn't mind seeing Remy start on the wing if we're lacking goals in the side. I think him Costa and Hazard would be a really good three if given a go. I o think 4-3-3 would suit us better though.

Costa and Falcao scored a ton of goals while playing together at Athletico - maybe that's the way to go. Interesting that when at Athletico Falcao was the main man, now the other way round - hope egos don't interfere.

I think last season will probably have been a bit of a humbling experience for Falcao, if he ever was a big ego to begin with. He seems like he genuinely wants to work hard and do well so I like him already.
He hasn't played like a world class striker this preseason, but especially against Fiorentina I thought he looked pretty good. And if we solely judge on preseason form and Costa can't play this weekend, then I'd let Falcao start against Swansea.

Hello MrsCosta, finally some common sense.

07 Aug 2015 13:25:36
I will say in Falcao's favour, he hasn't started a game pre-season with the 1st eleven - against Florence he got no support at all and had to go looking for the ball.

If you watch Falcao he was very quick on to through balls, an opportunist and smart with free kicks and very much thought where the ball was going rather than a blaster. United's game did not suit him and ours 'should' but we have to play to his strengths and against Fiorentina his movement was good and he was strong on the ball but he had no service at all. If he still has his pace then he should be an asset if we break quickly but during the last half of the season and in pre-season our transition from defence into attack was painfully slow. I would start with him on Saturday rather than Costa as he will be that bit sharper and if he does well it may fire up Costa.
